Update: I realize I forgot to mention that, at least right now in Garlic OS Alpha 2.0.2, I'd mainly recommend this version to fans of Garlic, curious tinkerers, or those who appreciate the features mentioned in this video, however I wouldn't recommend it en mass *just yet, and you'll probably guess why from some points in the video 🙂
This is way too fast to follow. If this is a setup guide, it needs clear step by step instructions, and please, please slow down. This is probably a good video for people who already know how to setup GarlicOS, not for people that actually need a setup guide. Not for me, sorry.
Yea so far muOS has captured my heart as well lol. Was surprised at the amount of requests for GarlicOS last week and almost didn't do the video otherwise, but I guess different folks will prefer different flavours
Black Seraph (the dev of Garlic) mentioned he had other things to do and unfortunately he's only one human so his time is limited but he's finally focussing on Garlic again now. I was also bummed by the lack of updates but am still hyped for upcoming updates, especially for my RG405M.
I had muos on my sp. Call me spoiled, but the reason i didn't like it much is because I have LOTS of roms and there wasn't a search feature. That was a bummer. The interface and performance was nice though.
really having a hard time following, like completely unfamiliar with the terms not sure if video is skipping steps either and i'm stuck (if ur a newbie i think this video more for faster paced users or people who know this stuff well)
Anyone tried Just putting the perfectly setuped Garlic OS SD card from his rg35xx plus into an rg35xx sp? I only have the rg35xx plus with garlic os but since the SP is the same device in another shell shouldnt that just work?
I need help... I use Onion OS on my Miyoo Plus and wanted to get a similar experience for my Anbernic H, however I am confused on if Garlic OS is worth doing compared to MuOS but cant find any comparison videos. or even a simple step by step video to do the Garlic install. any suggestions or guidance?
Does it still not allow you to disable auto-loading save states? That was the feature that killed OG GarlicOS for me, I hated using it and had to switch to MinUI on my OG 35XX.
I got the tweaked version of the stock OS after watching a RGC video, and honestly it fixed my only issues with the device. I don't know if all of these custom firmwares are all that necessary for this one. Not that they aren't cool nonetheless.
Totally fair yea thankfully stock has a lot of things going for it so replacing it is purely a matter of taste - do you have a link to that tweaked stock OS? I checked RGC's channel but didn't see a vid about it, but I'd love to test it out for myself :)
@@CoulterPeterson Don't think youtube will let me link it, but it's on the Anbernic RG35XX Family written guide on the RGC site. He discusses it a bit in his recent video "Anbernic RG35XX Family Starter Guide"
the current version of GarlicOS is an alpha a.k.a. useless for the moment. best os for XXSP right now is the stockOs, messing with retroarch a little you can make your own garlicOS-like behavior

thx for the video im trying to follow it to my best capabillities, but for a newbie like me it was waaay too faced paced.

GarlicOS hab been in Alpha since November of 2023 and no new features have been added since then. I switched to MuOS and am loving it.

Do you know how to show your games by box art and not by list view!?
I actually like stock os. It has everything i need and box art already included.
Underrated comment 👍🏻
Cool video! I like seeing what type of users would prefer Garlic OS or Mu OS

Definitely MuOS over Garlic OS. A lot more features especially Portmaster which is amazing btw
why so fast 💀
I thought it was honest trailer for a sec😂
Its explained so vaguely I cant understand a thing

too fast ....
Why is your stock SD card blank? My stock OS SD card had folders on it fresh out of the box. Was that just a blank card as an example, or what?
Im fine with stock os.has more features than others.
If they release an OLED with G3x or snap 2 version It would be the last emu handheld ill ever need

I didn't try but I imagine that setting could be changed from the Retroarch settings. Would be interested to know if it's hard coded though
@@CoulterPeterson It's hard-coded. Whenever you change it in RetroArch, the OS changes it right back. Absolutely infuriating.
Oof that's good to know
@@CoulterPeterson Could you please check on Garlic 2.0 if you still have it installed? 🙏🏻
Hate this shit because I can't get hardcore retroachievements!
Skip this. No lid support. Pass
Does any current RG35XX SP OS have lid support?
@@Mars9982minUI does have the lid support. Puts it to sleep with the lid closed, turns off after a couple minutes.
@@waldamy That's nice, thanks. I hope they can do that for Knulli as well.
@@waldamy Thanks, but miniU doesn't help me. Because I also want to use it as mp3 player. Stock OS will allow that.
@@Mars9982 Knulli is too slow to start for my liking, rocking MuOS on my H and it's almost perfect.
Jesus Christ. Way to zip fast as hell thru the important parts 😂😂
Hey nice channel!
Hey! Its TechDweeb!
Thanks! Same to you! 😁
Thanks for the video!!!
Garlic os is dead! You just recomended a beta os from last year that will never get a full version.
Thanks for your input - just added a pinned comment to clarify my stance on the state of Garlic a little clearer
Doesn't seem to work for me. it just shows the Anbernic logo, then turns off.
did you manage to solve the issue?

Garlic 2.0 and the latest ones are well known to be glitchy. Don't be recommending this yet lad

@@CoulterPeterson no problem. Your videos are good but don't fall down the garlic rabbit hole. It's not been good since the original rg35xx days
No N64, PSP or Nintendo DS? Nope, without me!
Wake me up when support for the three is there.
And mabye... *cough*, a experimental GameCube Core too
I wish he could just make an image file available. Maybe the way he is setting it up for multiple device support just doesn't work with that.
I hope this fix problems with muos
It's ready for the SP? Lid support? EDIT: Doh! Nope.
You say way too much without really saying anything helpful lol
This is already waaaaay too complicated for avg joe.
No bro, now my to consoles will have garlic i love it
still watching, but your chapters are messed up video only has one despite you listing them in the description
Thanks for letting me know - fixed!
Onion. Yes. Garlic. No. But thank you.
I'm running Knulli on mine.
