This is fantastic. Thank you so much! I have the OG 35XX, the 35XX Plus and the H (Really love the H and the build quality). I've been using Knulli as my main OS and it's just great. I love being able to scrape right on the device. I'm holding off on the SP, waiting until an updated device comes out to fix the battery/CPU location and clicky buttons, but it's really difficult to wait. My nostalgia is with the OG Gameboy, though, so I'm pretty happy. I appreciate the time, attention to detail and how you are able to relay the information to us. You have a real gift for this, and thank you for the videos you give us.
I’ve got HDMI working on muOS. There’s an option to enable it in the settings. And when using Retroarch, you can even get HDMI Audio by changing the audio output to HDMI in the Retroarch settings. Love your video’s, my man!
Got a 35H currently shipping from those Choice Day sales I learned of from this channel, so this video comes at a great timing. I've set up a Miyoo with OnionOS before as a X-mas present, so this is the first time I personally get to enjoy one of these compact handhelds 👍👍

Something to note is that Knulli works best with port master if you have the game partition/card formatted to ext4. That will make it so Stardew Valley saves and other ports that require save data will work. Also if you're running shaders on the handheld mode and plan to use HDMI out to a TV, it will take a huger performance hit on the TV, so remove shaders for HDMI out gameplay.
I think the reason the devices don't accept the usb-c to usb-c charging is that the device doesn't support usb-pd so never sends a handshake to the brick that is expecting it to determine how fast it can charge. The older usb-A ports don't have it, and your power strip's usb-c port probably also doesn't have it, so they just assume 5V3A

I have been enjoying tinkering with muOS on my RG35XXSP. I think that once the HDMI out, bluetooth controller support and auto-save/auto-load with power off/on get ironed out it will replace my MM+. I will miss gameswitcher on OnionOS but the clamshell form factor is what I have always wanted and not having gameswitcher will force me to focus on finishing one game at a time.
The stock ANBERNIC firmware is the best, in my opinion! I also managed to install two 1TB micro sd cards in both my RG28XX and my RG35XXSP! I use Team Group Pro 1TB micro sd cards. Around 60 bucks each on Amazon when they are on sale.
RG35xx H is pretty awesome for 3:4 AR games. You just rotate it to the side and use the right analog stick as left stick with the 4 face buttons. You get to make use of the whole screen with no or little black bars.
Would love to see a video on how to change the boot screen? Found the file location, but unsure how to change it in the OS. Sticking with modded stock for now, I struggle for some reason with Batocera, although I might purchase another sd card and load it with Knulli and see how I do. Also, glad you covered that bit with the computer not recognizing the sd card and renaming it. Ran into that one myself and it sure had me flummoxed!

If you want faster box art You can import your rom set on retroarch on a pc turn on thumbnails updater And copy all the folders in retroach settings called thumbnails to muos info catolog folder Hope that helps and is so faster then scraping

I was going to get the plus but then I figured any emulator or roms running on WiFi would be risky. And I don’t need Bluetooth controller for a handheld or anything Let me know what OS I should be using
So, I've used Knulli on another device and it was great but I have a question about the 2 card set up. If my second card already has games on it will it erase them if I follow this tutorial? I have them backed up so no fear of forever losing them but I'd rather not take time to redownload them to the card again. Thanks for all the great content. You are my go to for all things emulation.

Hi, thanks for writing up this guide, greatly appreciated. I am very new with retro gaming, and RG35XX Plus H is my first handheld, got it just last month. I am now experimenting with trying custom FW, and am following your guide as my first attempt doing this kind of things. I have flashed a new modded stock OS using Rufus to a new SD Card and I put in the flashed SD Card to the RG35XX Plus H. However, it is now stuck on the "Welcome" screen - been like that for over an hour now. I'm afraid to take the SD Card out and replace with the old one, fearing I will brick it. My question: How long is the initial loading time (i.e. on fresh install, how long does the device will "stuck" on the welcome screen)? Is it safe to unload the SD Card, and load up the old SD card? If you or anyone has ever encountered the same problem, would appreciate your inputs.
Would love if your reviews address how easy/good is the audio quality via bluetooth for these devices. Is 2024 so a lot of us have a wireless earbuds for our cellphones with us already :)
Help please! ROMS on the second SD card not showing up. Thanks for the great video; you do amazing work! I'm using muOS with a two SD card setup. My second SD card is a ScanDisk Ultra 200GB card that is formatted exFAT. The folders set up on the second SD card show up in muOS, but the ROMS in those folders do not show up. I have refreshed the file system. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks again.
These things are driving me crazy. I want one, but every time I look at buying one I look into what else is available and feel paralyzed by choice. I want the Gameboy looking one, but I want the Switch looking one, but I also want the Retroid 4 Pro. The gameboy looking one is kind of pointless if it can't play PS1/N64/Dreamcast very well, but I like the aesthetics of it.
The SP blew me away with its out of the box experience. I’m sure you can set it up but that default filter on handhelds is just primo After having bought the rg35xx+,h, and now SP I can say for sure that if you just want basic psp/ps1/Dreamcast level emulation the H is perfect. But if you don’t need that type of power the SP is insanely good and the 405m or next gen of anbernic device of the same form would be best since at that point it can play up to ps2 and GameCube. For me going forward I only want basically a 35xxH but stronger because all other non analog game is killer on the SP

Well, damn. Just got my 35XX H today, followed the guide to remove some unwanted games and scrape the box arts, and now none of the games for any system will load. It does have a pretty janky SD card - could it have failed so quickly?
Hello, I downloaded the latest stock software from the manufacturer's website, version 16gb, I have rg35xx h, do I need to upload any more bios? If so, which memory card? I have two, one for a 32gb system and one with 64gb games. Thank you in advance for your answer!
I have two controllers which I used with the stock OS. After flashing KNULLI, I tried to connect the controllers manually. My controller did show up in the list, together with other Bluetooth devices nearby. When I press A button to connect my controller, it never finished and the devices on the list disappeared one by one. Then there’s a connection timeout on the side of controller. Does anyone has similar experience? Any solution?
Really annoyed - got the RG35XX Plus the moment it was announced as my first ever handheld, and then the H model came out (which for me would have been perfect)
My controller, a Xbox One, doesn't work with Stock OS nor batocera (40, not Knolli), at least via Bluetooth. Haven't tried with wire since i don't really have a mini usb b to USB C wire. Is it an issue of the controller or my RG35XX H? Also thank you so much for all these guides and videos, made my choice of getting the device a month ago a breeze
Is there a trick to mapping the dpad to work as the analog stick for n64 games on the rg35xxsp? It looks like I’ve mapped it in retroarch but it doesn’t seem to work in game.
Was trying to remap some buttons, messed up and now i cant go anywhere correctly because no button does what is supposed to do. Is there a way to reset it or i need to flash the card again??

I installed the modded stock os on a new card but no roms show up on the device in the games or ra game section. I can find them loading retroarch but its a longer process and a little annoying. How do I fix this?
I said in the video that Kioxia cards are good. When I referred to cards that are unreliable, I was talking about the generic blank cards that they used to ship with the devices.

Important to mention that the bios files are case sensitive, read the readme note in the bios folder for format.

I did everything as the guide say about skraper but knulli is not showing the boxart. It just showing a list of games in the middle of the screen
In video you said to toggle framerate, press Menu+ X, but in written guide it show Menu + Y.

Must be a bug, but when I try to reformat the internal SD card it says to reboot but nothing changes. Am i missing something ?
Is there a trick to mapping the dpad to work as the analog stick for n64 games on the rg35xxsp? It looks like I’ve mapped it in retroarch but it doesn’t seem to work in game.
Was trying to remap some buttons, messed up and now i cant go anywhere correctly because no button does what is supposed to do. Is there a way to reset it or i need to flash the card again??
Too complicated stuff. Just looking to flash a clean basic Anbernic rom on a fresh SD with a separated microsd for all the games. Any video out there? Cheers
I installed the modded stock os on a new card but no roms show up on the device in the games or ra game section. I can find them loading retroarch but its a longer process and a little annoying. How do I fix this?

I said in the video that Kioxia cards are good. When I referred to cards that are unreliable, I was talking about the generic blank cards that they used to ship with the devices.
