Tbh, every review I have seen has praised it for the engine, platform and performance and called it great value for money. Most of the people criticising it are those who would not consider buying one anyway, and I'd argue the M240i is the best of the up-and-coming BMW models.
Yeah same here! People criticise the headlights, but the front ones remind me of the 2002 homage and the rear ones the E90. Maybe the triangles are a bit weird, but I don’t think they ruin the car or anything. Previous 2 series wasn’t exactly beautiful to me until the M2 received the competition version, so this one actually seems like an improvement over the predecessor.
Hi Loafer, just got word that my car is “in production,” estimated completion date mid-January then 4 to 6 weeks for dealer delivery. Ordered it right before Christmas so everything the dealer predicted then seems to be happening. Any word on your build?
@@final_mile_music9713 thanks Loafer. Strange that I ordered almost a month after you and have my production allocation now. Oh well good luck and I’ll let you know if mine gets significantly delayed
For me the styling of the 2022 BMW 240i is far superior to the previous generation. The previous generation was just to subdued and did not do it for me. The G42 just rocks it and I love it!
It really didn't seem like you pushed the chassis dynamics much in the canyon carving. Granted it can be hard to tell by video but it didn't really seem like you rotated it under breaking much or challenged the grip out of a corner. Curious what your thoughts are about the car in these regards?.... and yes I realized it's an X drive
how does it compare to the M340i, diving wise? I really love this car, but seating 3 in the back still has me looking at the 340/440gc. Did you get a chance to see one with the normal gauges? Awesome review as usual, thanks
Seating 3 in the back with any regularity would definitely have me recommend the M340i. I LOVE that model. This M240i feels more eager to change direction with less weight, but you aren't giving up much driving satisfaction with the 3. I didn't see a non-digital gauge 2 series, sorry.
Great review, and I have watched almost every single review of this car. Thanks for the great work. Just curious if you recall what tires you were running on this.
How would you compare this M240i to a GTMustang, like a Bullitt for example? What about a Boxster or Cayman? I’m shopping so I’d like your input. Thanks!
Damn, those are all excellent cars - and all very different driving experiences. The Bullitt is my favorite non-Shelby Mustang. It's loud, tail-happy, and not nearly as precise as the Bimmer or Cayman/Boxster. The Cayman/Boxster have the best steering and feel the lightest in corners. The M240i is somewhere in between. It's righteously fast and handles well. I think the Cayman looks best, M240i has the best interior, and the Mustang has the best soundtrack. I'd choose the Cayman for a track day or canyon drive and the Bullitt or M240i for a daily driver. This is long winded, but the answer is that you should pick the car that best aligns with your personality and driving style. I hope this was helpful.
I appreciate the video, thank you. One small point, it's NOT an M car. It's a 2 series M Performance model. It is a nice car, and I think it looks really good, I don't get the hate for this latest 2 series. I have not have the chance to drive one yet, but I have no doubt it will be fast in a straight line, yet still very comfortable and relaxing to daily drive. My last car was an M140i, which also was NOT an M car. I spent thousands upgrading it, tuning it, and you know what, it still wasn't close to being a real M car. I now have an OG M2, and it is levels above in suspension, steering, handling, sound, and looks. It is a REAL M car.
I'm considering an M240i. I currently drive a WRX and the ride is just terrible and I'm hoping the BMW will feel smoother otherwise I might take a look at mercedes.
I disagree. It’s crazy how much weight this has gained over the previous generation. The last gen wasn’t exactly light either. That mild-hybrid tech is SUPER heavy, and provides negligent benefits. In fact, certain BMWs with this tech get worse mpg on the highway than before they had this tech. We’ll see when the new M2 comes out how it fares. Either way, nice tour of the car!
@@G42-w3t Should have been more specific. It’s got the 48V architecture. All the new B58s have it, other than the version that’s in the Supra (I think).
Is that red leather darker in reality or brigher? I am not sure if I have the balls to order it or to simply play safe and go with the black leather with white stitches... The outside colour would be brooklyn grey. Thank you.
It's a neat car-almost like what the M3 once was. BMW just doesn't seem as special or exclusive as it once did. Used to be you had 3 series, 5 series, 7 series, and the halo 8 series coupe (for a while). Now you've got 7 levels of SUVs and 8 levels of cars-and they've all gotten increasingly bloated and expensive. The 3 series used to be the drivers' car, the 5 series was still a solid driver, but for the more well-heeled enthusiasts. 7/8 series were executive luxury rides. Now every soccer mom is rolling around in an X1 with a 299 a month lease.
BMW's aesthetics are straying towards more modern lines and curves but they could've still milked the previous generations aesthetics for much longer. This model's design is too fast of a departure. Call me conservative, but I think BMW struck a perfect balance with the previous design language.
this is the M car for the average person, it is missing a lot of character for someone who can actually push it and doesn't care about straight line acceleration
I currently lease a BMW X3 M40i. It had a couple problems, I take it into the dealership and they fix it. When my lease is up I turn it in. No problem!
One of the best car reviews I have seen that shows some real driving conditions. Great job. +1 subscriber 😀
Right on! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for subscribing!
I really want one of these! I don’t understand all the negativity towards it, but then again I’ve never had a BMW so my expectations are different.
Tbh, every review I have seen has praised it for the engine, platform and performance and called it great value for money. Most of the people criticising it are those who would not consider buying one anyway, and I'd argue the M240i is the best of the up-and-coming BMW models.
I'm currently in a four year old 335d and it's an amazing car...this M240i looks wonderful. I'm torn between it and the 340d for the torque.
Yeah same here! People criticise the headlights, but the front ones remind me of the 2002 homage and the rear ones the E90. Same here
Where’s the negativity? All the online reviewers love it
Shoutout to you for really testing it on the road!! Great review👍🏽
I have driven the M340i and the M440i, so i can only imagine this being excellent!
It's in great company with those two
I’ve driven all 3, and yes, this one is amazing! Placing my order this month.
@@TJZTechShowI’m looking at a couple and hopefully can find one to buy in Colorado, the test drive of it was awesome
Wow.... excellent review. The POV driving at the end was incredible. You deserve BMW commission. Please consider reviewing the M340i next.
I am so glad to see some footage of this on a real driver's road. Great video!
Amazing car and it looks badass to me love the palm desert run thank you!
We're the tires all season run flats or hi performance non run flats?
Awesome review. Loved seeing the canyon blasting.
First time viewer of this channel. Excellent video. Subbed!
Awesome! thanks for subbing
We need more of these with the commentary lol. I'm enjoying these videos a lot
More to come!
Your review is incredible. Just ordered my new 2022 m240i to replace my 2018 m240i. I'm so excited it's coming in October.
Enjoy it! Had tons of fun behind the wheel.
A few independent reviewers have got this to 3.7 sec and over 400bhp stock
That was 4 sec on this vlog I saw when you stop it at 60 mph. Pretty good.
thanks for the review, keeping me going, its driving me nuts waiting for mine to be delivered (i ordered 5 days ago lol)
It’s not beautiful, but it looks really good in the flesh. And the M240 is a beast. I’ve just ordered one.
Enjoy it when you receive your car!
Loafer, what is the ETA on your car, I ordered one yesterday

Ordered one last week, can't wait!
Right on! Enjoy
I would love to drive that car
Great video😉
absolutely fantastic review. BTW should it be M performance instead of M sport? Great video nonetheless!
You are right - I misspoke. It's an M Performance model.
Excellent review that's engaging, objective, and insightful. Thx, MPH!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Hector!
Whats better in your opinion this or the m440i?
Can you please do a video on the illuminated m trim at night? I really wanna see if I want it on my build or not
This was a first drive media event, but when I get a loan, I'll show the door trim 👍
Great vlog!
Love the review!

The old one looked much better, but the interior of this model is much better. So there's that.
Looks like it will embarrass some V8s
including mustang GT
Canyon Drive! Yeah baby!
Great review video!
Thanks for the encouragement!
This 2 series isn’t that bad compared to the other new bmw models like the iX 4 series 4 series gran coupe i4

Is that an 8.8 inch or 10.2 inch screen? I don't see how there is a way to upgrade it besides the one that comes with the live cockpit pro
The 10.3 inch display (it may be bundled with Live Cockpit Pro)
Great video milesperhr

i saw one a few days ago glossy black, it looks better in person
why does the grill have to open and close? is it electronic just a thing to send back to the dealer for repair?
Helps with aerodynamic efficiency

The M240i doesn’t “get” that “M” lighting in the doors, it’s a $200-$300 option.
Looks better in white than that purple.
All bmw look nice in white
