Got mine in April 2023 in Thundernight with new screen (i prefer simplicity of old screen). BWM seem to forcing people to increase the likelihood of having an accident by moving their gaze to look for controls. They also ditched the hand friendly gear lever, to an annoyingly small thing, and again, requires you to look for it rather than intuitively grabbing it. Ergonomics and safety anyone? Should be an EU law to keep common controls physical (especially in sports cars) and not force a drivers gaze to look away to fiddle about. Voice controls are NOT that good or reliable to jump in with two feet. Ever seen a car reviewer being interrupted by "Hey BMW voice" mid review? That's my point right there!!

I also reviewed the BMW 2 series in my channel, and I must say its a new chapter for BMW! This car has a long reputation! But it's clear that its price is mainly for its status, badge and reputation, not for its equipment list.
It would be fun to have Thomas review some older models like E92 in the light of current gen vehicles. Compare performance, steering, handling, suspension, etc.
Was there an "oil level" warning shown in infotainment? In a new car? I thought only my 15-year old e90 325i drinks oil for breakfast, but this is progress... :)
Don't love the design, but I would love the powertrain and driving dynamics. I would actually love the RS3 in hatch form, but of course, we don't get it in the states.
I feel like this car will benefit from the right colour and also every piece of M power styling, apart from that bonnet power bulge decal. It needs a bigger rear boot/trunk spoiler and wider arches. Anything to try and neutralise that styling.
Perception of styling is an interesting thing. I stumbled across an ad for one of these M240i models in Thundernight, and immediately feel in love hard enough to call the dealership about getting one (it's now on a ship headed this way). :D I also loved my E36, I've owned a number of different BMWs over the years (I'm keeping my current E60), and this new one is also great to my eye. Regardless of that, I've just subscribed to this channel. This review is the best car review format I've yet seen. Good description of the features and then some real-world driving - all presented with a casual but clear and honest style.
Can anyone explain to me. Do those wider tires stick out a little more from the arches and hence the need for wheel arch extenders or is the tire still flush with the wheel arch and those extenders just give the appearance of wheel sticking out
I wish they could do another more toned version of the non M one, 220i or something, for some sort of entry level 2 series as 1 series basically died off :(
Thanks, Thomas! Interesting to hear your comments on the steering "feel". Makes it difficult for me to ever want to give up the hydraulic assist in my '08 1er coupé 🙀 I love the steering feel and connection to the road in my older relative to this new 240i...
I also have an 08 135! Year one of the one - 6spd manual with a tune and performance exhaust! Its a blast to drive. This 240i just seems too big. It lost that small car feel. I guess ill keep my 1er a little longer. Just broke 60k miles and its running like a dream!
Does anyone know the technical differences between the M Tech and the M Sport Pro Pack for the EU market? I know they both add an oil cooler and bigger brakes, but is there a difference?
Firstly if they wanted to cut costs by using single headlamps they should stick to hexagonal shape headlamps. Secondly the taillights are bit small, rear diffuser line should be inline with rest of bumber. This exterior designer should try and use 1.8meter dummies when designing the rear and where is signature vent behind the front fenders?
So basically BMW facelifted the 3 series to a one piece screen and used their older production cars as 2 series cutting exactly half the tail light of the facelifted X3 and fiting it to the NEW 2 SERIES
@@autogefuehl Haha I see, although you didn‘t seem to be that happy in the rear in both of them. If time permits I would highly appreciate and enjoy a comparison video of the 2 and the 4 series! Since they are based on the same platform and the share the identical interior, I wonder what distinguishes them drivingwise and if there are some other little, hidden differences in the detail beside the design and the size. By the way: Thanks for responding that often in the comment section!

I feel like this car will benefit from the right colour and also every piece of M power styling, apart from that bonnet power bulge decal. It needs a bigger rear boot/trunk spoiler and wider arches. Anything to try and neutralise that styling.
will you do a review of the 2024 M240i
Great car in a very nice color. And great review!
Cheers!
i found its handling, while sporty, is civilized.
Love the review ❤️ but I don’t like the lights 😖
The interior of this car feels like a completely different class than the RS3.
If I understand correctly the m240i has the superior interior?
@@sbs-0055 Yep, by a mile too.
i cant wait for the m2 i dont care what anyone says i really like the design
Perception of styling is an interesting thing. I stumbled across an ad for one of these M240i models in Thundernight, and immediately feel in love hard enough to call the dealership about getting one (it's now on a ship headed this way). :D I also loved my E36, I've owned a number of different BMWs over the years (I'm keeping my current E60), and this new one is also great to my eye.
Regardless of that, I've just subscribed to this channel. This review is the best car review format I've yet seen. Good description of the features and then some real-world driving - all presented with a casual but clear and honest style.
Can anyone explain to me. Do those wider tires stick out a little more from the arches and hence the need for wheel arch extenders or is the tire still flush with the wheel arch and those extenders just give the appearance of wheel sticking out
yes thats mandatory by law if the tyres are wider
Just adorable!!!
Excellent video one more time!!!
How come you guys get the M badge on the side? :/
Side views are way too bland. Rear is okay. I like the front and the wide rear end a lot. The sportiness is undeniable.
Will you be doing a review of the 220i M Sport? (now with OS 8)
I wish they could do another more toned version of the non M one, 220i or something, for some sort of entry level 2 series as 1 series basically died off :(
Is the M performance package with the added carbon fiber and 20” wheels available in US?
Great video as always. But as a bimmer fan, it’s very sad the decadence of BMW design.
That's what i was waiting for. Still the coupe lover all the way, no family, passengers, just me.
great looking bmw; a shame about the honda civic tail lights though.
Why does BMW not allow the US to have the Sport Seats? What the heck?
Great review, i have to say this car removed the love i had for bmw tho
Thank god BMW actually retained a few buttons. Not sure on the looks... just glad a car like this still exists.
Thanks, Thomas! Interesting to hear your comments on the steering "feel". Makes it difficult for me to ever want to give up the hydraulic assist in my '08 1er coupé 🙀 I love the steering feel and connection to the road in my older relative to this new 240i...
aye
I also have an 08 135! Year one of the one - 6spd manual with a tune and performance exhaust! Its a blast to drive. This 240i just seems too big. It lost that small car feel. I guess ill keep my 1er a little longer. Just broke 60k miles and its running like a dream!
@@spiraling6980 awesome! I had a chance to trade up to the 1M shortly after buying my 128i but didn’t 🤦🏻
The overall shape and proportions are good but something is a bit off with the front end. Holding out hope the m2 will fix that
Great video! BMW👌🏻
Rather disturbing how bright the video displays remain as he goes through the underpass. Is there no ambient light sensor?
There's a setting to auto-adjust the brightness, but it defaults to "all on, all the time" :)
1:25 whats actually the front camber value on these M240 ?
Does anyone know the technical differences between the M Tech and the M Sport Pro Pack for the EU market? I know they both add an oil cooler and bigger brakes, but is there a difference?
Usually you can check that in the price list or if you click the information buttons in the configurator
M Sport Pro usually adds shadow line for grill etc
Just ordered a 2024 M240i ,what stands out for you ? I bought it as an everyday car .
Where can I find the m performance parts? My dealership didn’t know anything about them for this car
Does it have less back seat room in comparison to the BMW F22 (previous model)? Can you please answer?
2,1 cm more here
the 2 series have it own brand now! 3 variants. all diffrent by alot!
That rear-design🤮
Great video!
Firstly if they wanted to cut costs by using single headlamps they should stick to hexagonal shape headlamps. Secondly the taillights are bit small, rear diffuser line should be inline with rest of bumber. This exterior designer should try and use 1.8meter dummies when designing the rear and where is signature vent behind the front fenders?
good review
Hi Thomas, can you include a 0-100 time mode so we can compare? Danke…
i will always prefer the bmw!!
So basically BMW facelifted the 3 series to a one piece screen and used their older production cars as 2 series cutting exactly half the tail light of the facelifted X3 and fiting it to the NEW 2 SERIES
Great car. Thanks Thomas.
Thank you for this nice review! Would you rather go for the 2 series coupe or the 4 series coupe now?
Cheers! That depends on if you want rear passengers from time to time
@@autogefuehl Haha I see, although you didn‘t seem to be that happy in the rear in both of them.
