The rear needs more traction for more HP. It's quite difficult to use on a track as it is (I've tried it). While it will be easy to get more HP, it isn't necessarily a good thing to have with such a low traction setup. This btw is even with the updated suspension

Another great video, and the editing was a highlight. Henry really did a good job differentiating the 3 versions of the m2 (OG, LCI, Competition) and whilst it might not be as simple as this it would seem as though with each version they have softened the suspension to make the grip less peaky and more progressive and predictable. Chris Harris has advocated the advantages that softer setups can bring without detracting from limit handling with his Alpina videos. Not that I’d ever want an M car to be as soft as an alpina mind you, but they appear to be finding that sweet spot between balance, poise, predictability and comfort.
Henry is THE best motoring journalist of the last few years. I sit down with a beer every time he reviews a car. Well done chap. Please come to New Zealand.

Dear Mr. Catchpole, I am continually impressed by your insight into cars. I hadn’t thought of adaptive dampers in the way you presented in this video and I’m inclined to agree. There are certainly persons who rely on their vehicle to compensate for any skill deficiency, but there are also persons who want to get to know their vehicle. Except not telling the full story is he. Crank hub failure present from N55 to S55 which they ignore to avoid accepting blame for it. ECU built-in throttle delay on upshift. Not a peep of _that_ story. Not a peep of the story where customers save their money.
If only BMW could make their manual transmission feel like the one in the Type R. Oh and add some Alcantara to the seats so I don't feel like I'm sitting on an ice block or the surface of the sun.
@@zoltrix7779It is a bit rubbery and BMW could improve it, but I got used to it. Best manual I've driven was in a 991.2 GT3. Most Porsche's with a manual are spot on, even the 981 Cayman I test drove years ago was brilliant.
Solid mounted rear subframe, m3/4 control arms at the front which i think are solidly mounted, same goes for rear, stiffer springs and dampers that sit lower too

The M2 competition is a chip tuner's dream come true

No one tells you when you buy an M2 that it will try to spit you out of the road. Glad they have sorted it out with the Comp. Lovely review. Tops.
What are the real changes though as parts are not change M2 vs Comp. It must just be bushings at the rear, contrary to the video.

The car is sat on an M3/M4 chassis/drivetrain, hence the pumped up bodywork
