I have a 2018 M2 and love it. This car just gives BMW legitimacy to keep challenging the competitors.. this is good. But after the smoke clears, I love my M2!

@@juancruz-jg5pq actually, there's barely any weight difference between the M3 DCT (3631lbs) and the M2C (3655lbs). If you want to compare the Manual M3 (3574lbs) to the M2C (3582lbs) then it's negligible again. If you're going to talk smack, you better get your facts straight first. The M2C is significantly better than the old M2, so get the fuck over it.
Does regular M2 also have auto rev matching?

only way to turn it off is turn off all traction control
Thomas, collected my manual Competition last week after owning the previous model for 12 months and I have to say that the new car has taken the game on soo far its incredible, no one will believe how good this car is until they drive it. Feels 40% better in every way to me. Big brakes are a must with this extra power/torque if you want to drive it hard. I am using the car as my daily and excited every time I drive it. Great video.....
Of course, I second that. I have 2500 miles on the ODO. I'm not going to do snow tires but tempted.

@@sonnyasu no!!! I would ratter get the standar M2 wich is 150 lighter than the m2 Cp. The less i whant n a competition / circuit vehicle its weight!!! The m2 cp its not an authentic competitiom vehicle, all because of all thst added weight.

The new M2C is brilliant. It’s BMW going up on the mountain and finding their M car soul again. The new M2 Competition is really what a “M car” is all about. The M5 is just a high hp touring car that is too heavy and big. Small fast cars that handle like a scalpel and go like stink are what M cars are all about. Even the new 3 series is too big and what a 5 series use to measure. Porsche has actually made the new 992 feel more numb than the 991 which is depressing. The M2C is a light that there is still a purist performance car coming out of Germany.

I finally got my 21 M2C two weeks ago!! It's still in the break in period so I don't know what it can fully do yet. Been lucky enough to own a few M cars over the years. I can already tell this one is going to be epic. This was one of the reviews that made me buy it. Thanks

Hey Thomas, love your channel. You and James do it right. I bought a Sunset Orange M2 Comp about a month ago. Your video pushed me to pull the trigger. Been driving inline 6’s for the past 25 years - all 3’s including an E46 M3 (regret trading it in). What a ride. I also own 992 C4S and it’s surgical. But this M2 Comp is such a blast especially with everything off. Cheers to you, James, and your crew. Keep making great content. You’ll always have a fan here.

Thank you Thomas--I'd been on the fence for a while and this gave me that extra push in the right direction! I ordered my 2021 M2 Competition today from BMW of San Luis Obispo in California (I live in Pennsylvania). They are probably one of the last dealers in the US getting any of these--they said mine may be one of the last off the production line in Germany! (Not sure if that's true, but certainly makes me feel good to believe!) Getting the manual transmission in Long Beach Blue baby!! Keep up the good work--you guys are the best!!

I own a 2018 M2 lci, and i honestly don’t know if i would have to replace it, when let’s say if it were stolen or totalled, i would replace it with the M2 comp. Somehow i can’t forget my beloved E46 M3... i would love to get my hands on a mint E46 M3, manual gearbox again. 💪🏻👌🏻💕
Why getting M2C when you already own a standard M2? Yes, M2C is slightly faster and better but practically the same car... yes, I also own a M2... love it

Electronic steering is the way it is now and while it's very precise it's still a shame that they don't offer hydraulic steering. You were always able to get great feedback from the older M cars. That's why I still love the E46 M and why I believe the 1M is the greatest M car in terms of linear power and pure driving experience.
Agree. I'm saddled with a meager 135i with a Cobb tune, but the steering on that generation of BMWs is just telepathic...

Nice review but I would not want to down shift it to 4th and expect and high revs with no lag
you say that traction control is enabled when in sport plus but that's incorrect, only stability is enabled in that mode. pretty big difference
What he said at 7:23: that's what causes that slower revving? The turbo? I just bought a manual 228i after driving a Honda Prelude that revs to 7400 (loved it) and noticed this. My prelude would rev extremely fast when I would just touch the throttle. The BMW I need to hold for a moment, probably my biggest gripe

I doubt there will be a CSL. The M Performance parts that will be available soon, is likely to be bits and pieces taken from what would've the CSL.
pardon my stupidity, I'm new to this, but whats the difference between CSL, CS, GTS and Competition?? and theres a M3 LCI too?
Was the brake pedal very sensitive? When I drove an M4 I struggled to heel & toe a bit because the brake was so touchy!
Awesome review by the way, you really captured what a driver wants to feel and what they would feel in an M2C!
I did as well with the m4 actually. But this one felt maybe a bit less sensitive?

The biggest issue with that engine/exhaust combination, doesn't sound as good as the normal M2.
M2 Noise > M3/4 Noise

You can add noise to an old N55 M2 any day. Bit more costly to add the big upgrade in engine and suspension in the new M2, not to mention the classy tweaks to the styling.

M performance exhaust
Good guy Greg It still doesn't sound as good. The M Performance Exhaust is a great addition to help the car sound great, it's not a magic exhaust though.
Great Video. Might take a look at it as my next car. Current ride is a 16 M3. By the way, the inside sound is that horrible Active Sound. First mod would be to take that out ;-)

cars like the M2 is more about the experience rather than pure speed. I'm with you, the normal M2 is a bit slower but better.
Kinda sorry to say. But the competition is a better drivers car compare to old M2. Although Old M2 is still a true m car, But motor is lack of some character and handlingis slightly lazy. Front feels heavy under tight corner and power doesn’t feel crisp in DTC. Competition is a bit more lively and exciting in very single way. I autox m2 and owned a competition, just for your reference

I test drove a 2020 this week. Great car, but exhaust note was like a lawn mower. Sucked. I am at lease end of an f-type s, so used to great sound and that was a deal breaker for me.

drove the M235 & M240 quite a lot when i worked for BMW. I thought both drove much better than the original M2. Interested if these updates change that.

I have a 2017 M240 and I'm quite content with it - great ride/handling balance. Plenty of power, and love it's overall driving character. As tempting as the M2 Comp is, I'll be keeping my M240 for years to come.
Joe Blow great choice. i believe you have the better driving car. Better engine than the normal M2 and certainly more entertaining for spirited road driving. Sound better too lol
I would have to agree, but still opt for the my M2C's stiffer suspension, regardless. Personal taste.
Did they fix the limb mode (From sport+ to comfort) we get when the fuel is low? Or limb when we try to reduce tire air pressure when roll racing/drag?

Don't know what license plate holder the reviewer had on his car but I've used the one sold by U.S. Millworks on my previous BMW and current MINI and am very pleased. Not inexpensive but very solid backing plate, custom sized mounting bolt and various alternative mounting holes to place the plate where you want it, need it to avoid covering the front parking sensors.
