Glad you've had such a good time with yours, Chris. My 2021 M2 Competition flooded itself with rain water with only 400km on the engine (presumably due to poor sunroof guttering fitment from the factory). I've spent almost 6 months trying to get BMW to treat it as a manufacturer warranty situation, which they've refused to do at every turn. It would appear that poor guttering and seals, leading to a brand new car flooding itself during regular rain is the customer's fault. As a result it's sat there almost entirely undriven, and still unrepaired for the entire year. My friend's sister-car in a neighboring state had fitment issues in the cockpit leading to wind buffeting, an intercooler hose which came off on the highway and left him broken down with the kids in the back, and then finally had its sensors decide all his tyres were flat, stranding itself on his driveway. The M2 has represented the single worst automotive experience I've ever had, and I've heard about a notable number of build quality issues with others outside of mine. It's interesting to see how a person's experience with them can drastically change based on the seeming flip of a coin. Again, glad you've not experienced this, as I would not wish it on anybody. Certainly not with BMW's complete apathy toward the situation. It's important that people also hear about the other, slightly less exciting side of owning these cars.
If one wanted to learn more about bad M-car owner experiences, which forum would you recommend they peruse? Genuinely interested. BMW here in my area is supposed to be extremely customer focused. (May or may not be a function of it being a highly ranked Penske dealer?)
Genuinely cannot get enough of Harris waxing lyrical about cars - you can really see the passion he has for this M2 CS, and also can tell how much fun he has with it.
I have gt3 touring and m2 CS also. Same setup as you and adore both. First 100 miles of ownership I tossed the stock shifter and threw in an auto solutions shifter. Transforms the shifter feel yet still use the stock boot / knob
@@Hapkin no downside. Get the street bushings so it doesn't whine. Mine doesn't make noise. I went with 25% throw. Feels similar to my GT3 in throw distance. Ronald says most daily drivers do 20% and some do 23% but I daily my car and 25% works for me.
The shifter changes feelings after the break-in. I didn't like the CS's 1st to 2nd for the first 1k miles or so, but it feels locked in now. I may experiment with options later, but I like the stock feel at 6k miles.
I think these are fab looking things. The standard 2 series is an awkward looking little car, but the M treatment with those big arches removes the awkwardness of the basic car. As a CS owner, all I can say is, don't move on. The more I drive this car the more I wouldn't give it up for anything. I had a modified 135i before this, and as much wild fun as that was, the CS is the perfect balance for local backroad carving and traceability. Even with the manual, it's actually enjoyable to drive in traffic with the light clutch and auto rev match. Only car I'd consider trading for is a GT3 Touring, but that's a big leap in price. (I got my CS at sticker)
Great car, nice spec. I also like a skinny round steering wheel. Our E21 has the most slender of steering wheels, amazing how much thicker they’ve become.
@@ThatRosco458 if you were buying a car in the UK and the radio is tuned to Radio 4 it gives you an idea about the owner. It should tell you they are cultured and intelligent. Which Chris seemingly is.

Really good video, Chris is in his element and at his best. I’ve been pining for an M2 for a while now, I agree with others it’s comfortably the prettiest M car, it just looks right. I also absolutely love that green, and with the gold CS wheels they compliment each other perfectly. I’m now wondering though, why spend the money on a CS to daily drive when you could just upgrade the suspension on an M2 comp, like Chris has done here, fit an akrapovic and have it remapped to suit? Of course it won’t be as special. But for the money spent surely it can’t be that much less enjoyable on a British backroad? Great car, great vid. Need to convince the mrs to turn our g30 540i into an M2 now. Thanks for the upload.

heavy, extraordinarily numb steering, needs 10k in upgrades to work as intended. Why the CS is not the standard m2 is totally beyond me. Question I’ve been pondering for a long time: do you think any of the granular fingertip steering feel of older BMWs is lost in the thick steering wheel padding? BMW makes the squishiest steering wheels in the world now, and I wonder if a thinner material would help with the textural feel…

That seems like "the move" for the M2. Think i might have to get an auto solutions shifter for my comp.
What percentage reduction did you go with? I have a CS and may want to do this as well. Any downsides?
@@Hapkin no downside. Get the street bushings so it doesn't whine. Mine doesn't make noise. I went with 25% throw. Feels similar to my GT3 in throw distance. Ronald says most daily drivers do 20% and some do 23% but I daily my car and 25% works for me.
The shifter changes feelings after the break-in. I didn't like the CS's 1st to 2nd for the first 1k miles or so, but it feels locked in now.
I may experiment with options later, but I like the stock feel at 6k miles.
Chris sold me on this and its not cheap however, it put a smile on my face, every single time. Thank you for the review.
Can we use this platform for more “We need more bread” films pretty please CH, Neil and Collecting Cars?
I think these are fab looking things. The standard 2 series is an awkward looking little car, but the M treatment with those big arches removes the awkwardness of the basic car. My local dealer have a blue in the showroom and parked next to the latest horror shows that are the M3/4 it looks even better.
The wrap looks good; love the colour. I had to turn off the economy dual in my old M140i because it did my head in.
‘What’s the point of working if you can’t buy stupid toys’ is now my new line for my wife…. Thank you 🤣
I already tried it, she said “stupid boys shouldn’t buy stupid toys” 😳
Please come back every so often so we know you are still alive after you say that to your wife😂
You just gave me a lifetime answer to all my friends who are more concerned about buying silly cars than my own wife… Thank you for that 🙏
I’ve got the original N55 M2 and it’s amazing! The comp and CS must be phenomenal
you need to mod it, I'm full bolt ons stage 2 plus on my N55 and it's a completely different car, almost 500 lbs of torque (crank)
@@chrisgarret3285 what BHP (crank) are you getting?
@@DubC 450 hp or so, running MHD Stage 2 Plus (93 octane submap) and xHP Stage 3 on the transmission

Chris should keep this one. We all know this (and the M5 CS) will be the last of the special BMWs.
Why will it be the last? That’s what everyone says with every new M car. But it’s always personal perspective, and depending on your age & wallet depth, perspectives change!! 😂
@@robertsouthern because they’ll be going electric.
I reckon I could watch Monkey all flipping day. Feels like he’s one of your good mates just hanging in about cars - which is what I reckon he’s aiming at.
Thanks Chris, keep these vids. Ok’ing mate!
Chris Harris , you re a driver. Loving those hard tailing drifts. So much control. Big respect. Lovely car 👌🏼💯
I have the regular comp and absolutely love it. Its held value very well already and I'm having a similar debate about whether to sell and have owned it for nearly free, or keep it long term until it hopefully comes back up again one day. Just enjoying it for now!
I’d take advantage of the market for sure. But I’d also wait until the newer M2 and variants are out with all the rumors. It’d be like a free upgrade, no?
I love the connection Chris has with the feel of a car and how it makes you feel. That’s something shared with the real petrol heads. We get it. Love Chris’s enthusiasm, it’s very infectious as a car fan.
Love the green and gold combo.
Chris if you're reading this - get equal length mid pipe, really brings out the straight 6 sound.
Bmws are complicated..
M240i (B58), M2 OG (N55), M2 LCI (N55) M2 competition, M2 CS..
Vast price difference across the range for what is essentially a similar package, all with their own merits and the compromising factor being the price.
Man you are the best car journalist ever for many enthusiasts over the world 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗
Just love those angle, your interpretations from feeling to words are just amazing 😻
Cris, I love everthing about this vidoe. You are great! It makes me long for the good ole days!
Green and Gold. As an Oakland Athletics fan I approve!
The GOAT showing everyone else how it's done. School is in session TH-camrs.
His thoughts are so genuinely and eloquently put in this vid, always has been
God I love these videos with Chris, epic. Such a legend. What a car too. Green is stunning
Great car, nice spec. I also like a skinny round steering wheel. Our E21 has the most slender of steering wheels, amazing how much thicker they’ve become.
It’s the oldest feeling Chris Harris style video, and I love that.
That “BBC Radio 4” tune-in says a lot more about Harris than he’s ever stated himself.
Like what? I'm from the US so idk
Radio 4 doesn't play music, it's a mix of news, current affairs, plays, woman's hour, some comedy etc.
@@ThatRosco458 it mostly appeals to the Conservative older crowd within the UK - consider it like NPR, if NPR was conservative.
James Naughtie?
@@ThatRosco458 if you were buying a car in the UK and the radio is tuned to Radio 4 it gives you an idea about the owner. It should tell you they are cultured and intelligent. Which Chris seemingly is.
A huge Mercedes fan here... But my God, this BWM is something special! Awesome video!
Looks great in green with the gold. In fact it looks a bit like my 1995 M3 GT, I have Gold BBS wheels on it now, and it also has yellow calipers, ceramic brakes and a 3.0L Twin turbo (making a bit more power though). It’s a bit like a 27 year old version of this M2 CS
Keep it Chris! Seller’s remorse headed your way if you let her go! She is a thing of beauty with phenomenal uniqueness at the dawn of a new era.
So happy i found this video! I have an m140i and i absolutely love it, my dream car is an m2 comp (or CS if i won the lottery) and i couldn't agree more with everything that's said in this video :)
As a M2C owner myself I promise you will not be disappointed 😊
Why the comp and not the normal one? In my opinion the regular m2 sounds a lot better, though the comp has more juice
@@jhouser972 Update! I finally got my m2 competition 2 months ago, Absolutely love it and will never ever get rid of it
Can’t stop watching this video... amazing car and nicely setup
Brilliant Production here, Great Commentary And Video Work.
Fantastic content as always from Mr Harris. Love the M2 comp and cs
Chris, I bought my 2018 M2 from the factory because of your review, and now I have the opportunity to purchase an M2CS and your review is having the exact same effect on me. Cheers from the good old USA.
This was such a good video. Funny, insightful, raw. Thanks so much Chris for posting these every once in a while. They put a smile on my face and remind me why I love cars.
Chris Harris is the man. I love your videos. The colour combo is fantastic; green with gold wheels is stunning
Chris out here like Jacque Cousteau sharing his explorations with us.
I searched After this comment. 🤣

MORE MORE MORE.....really missing "Chris Harris On Cars"....🙏👌
Yes Chris we definitely need a place to keep our issues😂.
We leave the wife at home, get in the car, open storage and keep your issues then go for a long 1hr drive to clear your head
I've driven the M2 and man it's alot of fun!! The green and gold is drop dead gorgeous!!!
The M2 CS shows that it doesn't take insane horsepower or otherworldly tech to make a great car
Great review! I have a 2020 BMW m2 competition and I love it. Smile every time I'm behind the wheel.
Seems like a keeper Chris … end of an era, never to be seen again. Potentially a super classic
The red bonnet makes all the difference Chris… apart from your driving skills, outspoken no nonsense explanations… and hell yesss the M2CS… finally a real car! Grandioso! More please 👍🤙
You know the car is great when a no nonsense, unbiased performance car reviewer like Chris Harris buys one for his own pleasure and fun. 👍
Big like for choosing a manual. Greetings to You from sunny Croatia!👍🇭🇷
P.S.Great to see You are comming back to Your roots. Automatics are ruining the joy and You are the only one I saw noticing that to many gears ruin the drivers contact with the engine. The joy of long gears and talkin to your maschine instead of constant floating between many gears while driving makes the driver smile.
This vid makes me happy that I bought my M2Comp.
Although not the CS, the M2C is my first ‘fun’ car and I’m really enjoying getting to know it.
I was originally gonna try to keep the KMs low, but I eventually decided ‘fuck it mate!’ and I drive it more regularly now 🤩
Hi Cris, i just watched your video again and now i can say im fetching my M2 next week, and you just cemented my thoughts on it when you said “why are we working if we can’t buy silly stuff”as it is a expensive buy for me as a farmer , all the best, i love the lando laps,”drugs not allowed unless everyone can use “

CS models are not just a gimmick or a marketing ploy, they are serious cars for serious drivers.
Chris on Cars was super good. Please come back with this great show.
I’ve sold my M2c for 3k less than I paid for it after almost 3 years. My M4 xdrive arrives in 2 weeks. Hope I’ve not made a mistake lol.
Lucky fellow! One thing though, why not wait for the upcoming M4 CSL? Sounds like it's going to be awesome. Only problem, the cost will probably be awesome too!
@@Kelveron yeh the Cost is the issue. I’m sure it will be awesome but this time I want xdrive because my m2 was lethal in the cold and damp
@@Bu-22 yeh it’s used cars in general. I’ve no confidence in a year they won’t be a lot less so that’s why I got the M4 to make sure I lose money lol
That green paint... 😍😍
Some say his name….All we know he is Chris Harris!
Love the Radio 4 graphics on the infotainment screen... :) This car looks amazing! Makes me want one...
Give me an e46 M3 anyday
I miss your reviews like this that used to be more regular. Thanks for the great video!
heavy, extraordinarily numb steering, needs 10k in upgrades to work as intended.
Why the CS is not the standard m2 is totally beyond me. Are Bmw sabotaging their "standard" m cars to unlock them at absurd premiums? don't get me started on the price tag.
Keeps the e46 values up so i'm not complaining :)
Got my F82 for a steal when covid hit. Don't see myself buying anything modern/future BMW.
Have you driven a CS or are you talking about the M2 Comp? I don't think it's very numb as an owner of a CS. Somewhat numb at most but better feel and response than Comp, OG or any M3,4,5etc.
@@Hapkin just the standard m2. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the CS owners! It's just very disappointing that the next good step up from the 240i is 911 money
@@Hapkin I agree with the numb steering (In my f82 at least) the EPS just doesn't deliver the same feel as the older cars with steering. even my 328i e92 feels better than the M4 in my opinion
I quite appreciate you reviewing your own cars. This quality of content is actually quite rare.
Sorry Chris, respect when respect is due, you can keep all the torque the modern M cars give you, but revving the absolute nuts off any old school M engine (those ITBs!!!!) all the way to 8K+.....nothing beats that even by todays standards....despite the notories issues related to then (knock knock).
"Had it wrapped" 😮 Whoever did that wrap is an absolute LEGEND - the complexity of the curves on that M2's front end is insane. The complexity of that wrap would have been off the charts - I've watched this back in 4K and I cannot find one seam or fault, anywhere!
Wow, dude, I need this wrap pro in my life.
@Richard Harrold is it the Plastidip then??? If so, well damn, I have a new found respect for that product.
90k lol
8:06 what's with the "laggy" tacho? Is it struggling for traction at that speed??
£90k - lol.
Chris is the best, bar none! Thoroughly enjoy his reviews and commentary!
It looks gorgeous in that green.
Red orange and especially yellow would look AMAZING with those gold/bronze wheels! Hell yeah!
No one is talking about how nice of a wrap that is, either way fantastic color and review of the M
Had my 1M 10 years and loved everyday..i remember when Chris bought his and I loved it even more lol
I love my chunky bmw wheel. Its been the best wheel ive held. Just feels nice and solid.
Love that green wrap with the gold wheels!
More videos please Chris. What's up with the jerky rev counter? It doesn't move in a linear fashion @8:06
If ever there was someone who really did not need to justify how many or which cars he spends his money on, it's Chris. It's his work that got him here and I love that he actually not only uses and abuses the cars but knows very well what he's doing with them.
It's his work that got him where?
Question I’ve been pondering for a long time: do you think any of the granular fingertip steering feel of older BMWs is lost in the thick steering wheel padding? BMW makes the squishiest steering wheels in the world now, and I wonder if a thinner material would help with the textural feel…
Amazing video! Would love to see more Chris Harris Drives here!
Immediately pressed as I saw Chris Harris.. amazing content as always!
Lovely video and don’t worry about the windscreen if you get Autoglass to fit the screen they use string to cut out the glass and the process is the same as cars with normal roofs 😊
When you want to emphasize a car how sporty it is, you make it three-door. The doll is beautiful and its sound is so beautiful.
Great video, the best automotive journalist!!!
Anyone knows the name of the song at the end? I suspect it's made for this video exclusively but I have to ask...
