I think this would be a good exercise to do when you’re feeling mad and upset. 4 minutes will give you time to think and reassess a situation before acting out of anger.
I think the point is tensing muscles in order to relax them after. It’s easier to fully relax a muscle if you know exactly how it feels when it’s fully tense.

This is one very wise man! This technique works amazingly well, especially for people who are struggling with severe anxiety or anger issues. Focusing all of your negative thoughts and feelings and imagining them forming into your fists…..then they get released from your body when you open your clenched fists. Definitely a beneficial tool!
Exactly!! "When you want peace, look to your chaos" This goes for everyone, we all have these subconscious tensions we dont know how to relax, But if you inTense, hold and then relax , you can relax minor muscles we dont even realize we hold (Which holds tension/stress)
Remember, people walk around with a fist in their mind their whole entire life, and not realize. You need to feel the ends of each being to understand where you are. Thank you for your teachings.

Yes, this is excellent and so easy to do. It doesn't feel like it's forever if you focus on your breathing during that time, helping to still the mind as well. What you are talking about needs you to stretch afterwards into a slightly painful stretch and holding that for the same amount of time you flexed the muscles before. This video is talking about the feeling sensation of relaxation that comes from the body itself.
@@steveengelmann8518technically whats being described is post isometric relaxation. The extensors of the forearms are the muscle being “stretched” since the flexors are contracting. After the release of the fist which is the isometric action, you’ll feel your arms and hands feel extremely relaxed. This feeling will probably travel up the chain since you’re holding a fist with intention for so long. Ultimately, affecting your nervous system the way the monk/teacher is intending.
@@javih9907 but the natural reflex of relaxing isn't the same as intentionally stretching the muscles after flexing them. One thing needs you to be actively stretching, while the other doesn't.
