Idea for the potholder tab . It could be used as a buttonhole for a button placed on a tab that crosses over the top of the bag 😊

I love this. Also if you added a green, brown or pumpkin colored button where the loop on the potholder is you now have a pocket that closes!
That's a really cute idea! I was thinking, if you tucked the loop into the pocket and stitched a little way down, and you put a dog leash clip in there, on the loop, then you have a nice place to clip your car keys. And they'd fall down into the pumpkin pocket.

Maybe flip the dimensions? If the whole mat is big enough for your dish, make that the bottom.
Would need some reinforcing because the contents you’d be carrying would be heavy.
I usually buy the dish towel that matches the drying mat and use that for the straps.
I went to DT today for the sole purpose to get these materials. I did and now I have to make the bag.

I have around four Dollar Tree around me and I ran around to all four to get all the supplies I needed to make this tote bag I'm so excited. One store had the potholders and the other store had the mats and the other store had the lining fabric now I'm ready to go home I make some tote bags for gifts and for a raffle prize

I hear ya. I do DoorDashing and a couple other driving jobs so I am able to check around to other stores while I am in the area and I really had trouble finding these mats and other stuff that she uses. Bummed me out the pumpkin potholders I found were without the cute embroidery. If I was better at that I would do it myself, but that would be a disaster. It is weird how they have such a vastly different variety across the nation. 👀

Thank you for this idea, which, of course, can be customized for any season or reason. I can see this with a bit of velcro, a large snap, or frog button to be able to hold the top closed to help protect the contents from falling out.

I love the tote bag!! I generally wear my bag with a long strap on my hip. I would love ❤️ that hands-free method. Sometimes, I need my hands free for little ones.

I just made this bag last night but with the plaid fall dish mats and plain pumpkin potholder. I added an extra row of stitching about 1"down to keep the fabric more down in the bag BUT im totally in love with it and now i want to make one for every season.
