People who just buy everything… don’t put any personal effort in anything, usually are the ones depressed and unhappy.

With the industrialization lots of good things happened, no doubt about that ! But also, lots of good things are getting lost, like the people’s skills to provide for themselves, in that way becoming dependent on stores goods. On the first glance nothing is wrong with that. But older people know better. The ones in control can raise prices to the point things are not affordable anymore to us. Also, things can disappear from stores in crisis, like natural disaster, war or like. It’s always good to know to cook from scratch, to sew things for family, any domestic skill is a treasure for humanity.

One time I made a wallet as little pouch for one of my granddaughters. The guinea pig fabric lined up. Head of guinea pig flopped over by the flap onto the body. On both pieces. I laughed and laughed.

Didn't even know DT had fat quarters until I stumbled on your dish mat bag vid. OMG! As if my fat quarter obsession wasn't bad enough I can get them cheaper than Walmart.
I LOVE the joy you exude during your videos. I am 62 and have sewn minimally most of my life but always by the seat of my pants. Using things that I have or upcycled is my fav.
Recently, I decided to learn to sew 'correctly' and have been buying loads of stuff to help me. I am learning that things don't have to be so hard when you have the right tools, like the walking foot, for example. I hope to find my joy in this rather than frustration. Please continue with an occasional upcycle and easy peasy tutorial for those if us trying to do better.

Pocket’s please!!! I went to the dollar tree and got the new dish drying mat. They didn’t have “your” fat quarters so I found one honeycomb and dug and dug and FINALLY found another! That’s on my to do list as is this bag!! Wouldn’t this American themed bag look cute with a flag pocket? Or maybe we could sew red white and blue strips together to make a piece big enough for a pocket then it would break up all the res on the inside and still be patriotic!!! I absolutely LOVE everything you do! I can’t wait to make a purse using your video!!! ❤️ thank you for fun, interesting and easy to follow tutorials! ❤️

I was thinking the same thing! They make foam posterboard that could be encased in a matching or another coordinating fabric for a divider? These bags are wonderful stash-busting ideas!!

The other MAJOR point to your fantastic tutorials is after the fact of adding up the $ amount to making these great purses you have the knowledge in your tool chest and grab scrap fabric in the future-(which is what I think your goal is ) and just go crazy !! I like using old clothing I might want go donate or find some great fabric at a yard sale that is already a shirt or dress or sheet etc and repurpose it ❤Your videos are just FANTASTIC 🎉⭐️⭐️⭐️💫✨️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Inspired by you I made the bag out of the dish drying mat, I also made a bag from an old quilted pillow sham. It was already quilted of course. You should do a tutorial on it.

You're Killing Me! I've already made 2 purses now I will have to make more. Oh, the adjustable straps off their backpack makes great purse handles too. Oh, and I did quilt one of the bags because I found some cloth I loved, and the matching micro towel worked great with my Bee purse. The zipper from the backpack is extra-long too. I was lazy and used the "lines" of the drying mat to make straight lines a set amount apart.

Other ideas for zippers are: old purses, jackets, coats, and - for shorter zippers - pants, esp jeans (all metal).

I love this and I want to sew a bag now. For those thin to thick areas, you can use a button to raise the back of your presser foot to make it even with the bulk seam when sewing over. I bought, a long time ago, a Jean a Ma Jig, used to go over the think part of the seam when hemming my jeans.

This came out cute! I seen a pattern for a seashell bag (to collect them in) and they used a mesh material. And I thought of you and dollar tree and I was thinking I could do that with the mesh bags and fat quarters from dollar tree. I haven’t tried it yet but you’ve got me thinking of materials from there now and I’m here for it lol thank you for your tutorials !

I made this bag with a few alterations. I started with the watermelon drying mats. Used left over 2.5” strips with interfacing for the handles. Added a couple of pockets and am loving it

Dollarama is Canadian. Similar to 5 Below when everything was $5 or less. They do have a great craft supply aisle at the rama for sure. I do love me some cross border Dollar tree though. So much more selection on the 'Mericana side of the border.
