I made the same style bag, with the same mat. I buy my zippers bulk and they cost around .29 each. I live in a small town, and cant charge as much as I could if I lived in a city. I sold it at our local 4th of july craft cair for $8.
@@chrissyb7916 It would work for a short time. Being a drying mat, it would help pull the water out of the clothing. But being closed up, the water has no where to evaporate. So the clothing could sour or mildew quickly. Also the bag itself would become wet all the way through. So whatever it was sitting on would become wet also. It would basically be the same as rolling the wet clothing in a towel.
After watching this video I decided to make this bag. I have been sewing since I was 15 and I have never done a zipper until today. I sewed it like you suggested in your other video with the dish drying mat and it worked like a charm! Thank you for making it so easy and approachable and fun!
Chelsea, I wrote you about a month ago and the 80 year old that found you on TH-cam and you got me so inspired. I made lots of the dollar tree items but most of all your last one on your quilt touched my heart and I tried this weekend to make one of those flowers. Well, I now have ordered the papers because they cut my own hexagon was the biggest pain I’ve ever ever had but this was my first try and it’s not very pretty but I need to find out where your first tutorial is on paper pacing, cause I’m not sure what I’m doing, but I just want you to know that you’re such an inspiration and you’re so fun to watch and I just enjoy you so much and 80 years old. I feel like I’m too old to do things but you make me feel like I’m young again, so thank you for that andI need to learn how to make hexagon correctly. Hope you have a great vacation and I could watching you. Thanks again Sharon.
First! I love your videos! You have a great enthusiastic personality that I love listening to and watching. For 5jose that complain about Dollar Tree not having what she showing, every DT is different. I can’t find many things that people show , so we ad-lib with whatever. Just have fun with it.
We have 14 Dollar Trees and I have yet to find the first dish mat. But I found Dollar General and Oldtime Pottery carries them. I made a whole bunch then filled them with little gifts for different people I was visiting and they Loved them. THANKS Chelsea! It’s like sewing with a friend.
Love it!!!! Love YOU! I tell my daughter all the time that I wish you and I lived next door to each other. I hope that doesn’t sound creepy 😂 but you are just someone I would love to hang out with. Your energy is electric ⚡️

I appreciate you sew much . I have been sewing since i was 8 years old . I had a treadle sewing machine and the want to my dad left and i started sewing for neighbors to help put food on table . For my family i sewed but i would take hand me downs and totally remake them to fit and change style kept all buttons and zippers reused them where i needed . Neighbors would buy their own supplies so only time i got to sew crew stuff . I am 81 now teach inter city children to sew and sew . if i figure out how I’ll send you pictures.
You make me smile 💖 I have sewn a bazillion pouches, in many different patterns, but it is so neat to have super simple pattern when I need to whip one up for a gift! Thanks so very much!
I love it thank you so much I thought I was silly for even thinking that this would work I put it down and didn't bother with it I just thought this is such a cute drawing map I wonder what I could use it for and here you've shown me😅
Yay!! It’s time to laugh and have fun!! Love your channel! 🥰💕 I appreciate you!! I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way! I must say you are changing the world! We need more people like you! Can’t say it enough… I APPRECIATE YOU!! 💕happy sewing 🧵☺️💕
Hi!!! I love your tutorials on using the colorful dish drying towels. However, I am having a hard time finding the colorful one's...I've tried at least 4 Dollar Trees and 1 Dollar General. I wondered if you have a tutorial on covering one of the basic colors at the Dollar Tree? Or, perhaps you could show us how to cover a basic one using Dollar Tree's craft fabric? I appreciate your creativity. Thank you 😊
This is a great beginner project! Thanks for sharing! You are so upbeat... just what I needed this morning!❤. Also, these would be great gift to give to people who have to stay over in hospitals...esp. if you filled them with the essentials they'd need. God Bless ❤
This was so easy…once I put the zipper on correctly!! 😂 But seriously, this was super easy to sew and will definitely be making these for gifts!! Thank you n
You could still box the corners without cutting it. It would add about 2.5 minutes to the bag construction though. After you sew the two sides, fold the corners up matching the side seams with the bottom fold an stitch across the corner 1 inch up from the point. fold the point down and tack into place.
That was fun. Hello from Michigan, I love your honesty. I think I'm going to power watch all your videos since I can't sleep with this rain coming down. Thank you and God Bless.
Omg, this pouch is sooo cute🥰 Just got back from the US last week from visiting my daughter & my grandsons, wish I had seen this vid while I was still there, would have made a trip to Dollar tree😊 greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
After watching this video multiple times in the past month, i finally got up the nerve to try this project. It worked out amazing!!! I’m so proud of myself and I know my Nannie would be so proud of me too
Boy, do I love your tutorial you’re right on the button quick easy and who can’t do that I mean, if you know how to do a little sewing, this is a Q&A quick and easy‼️😊 Thank you for your good tutorial ‼️😊
I just made a "water-resistant bag" with those butterfly mats! Thank you for the inspiration in one of your videos...and for being so real. 😊 I've been making bags with & without zippers like crazy!!
None of my dollar tree’s have the cute printed drying mats. I have been to the two stores near me and only one had any drying mats at all. Red, Blue and Black , so I’m guessing I will be covering them with some pretty fabric. I hope they turn out as good as yours do.
I found you this week. I’m basic beginner sewing. Scared of zippers too. Sewing Place mats, who would have thought! You have inspired me. Enjoy your videos and your sweet personality.
I just found your videos today! I appreciate how in depth you are with your videos. I actually made 2 zipper pouches using the drying mat, 1 zipper pouch using the place mats, 2 sunglasses holders and 3 trashbags using the placemats. Tyvm! I love quick sewing projects. ❤
Just bought all these mats at the dollar store today so I can make this. Got the watermelon one too! Hope they look as good as yours! I don’t cut the corners though. I leave the triangle to add more support but I do zig zag sometimes.
Super duper fun and easy!!! To jazz it up a little, quilt as you go crumbs on the plain side then that’s the outside and that pretty pattern is on the inside. Great idea for zippers from the dollar store. 👍🏻👍🏻
I found 2 up front right of the cash register. has a shelf with those 2 and place mats and hand towels. My friend said she found her over by party supplies. Look every where in store eve on hang tags off shelves
You sewed the bag that I was hoping for so thank you so very much 🤗 I wish that the Dollar Tree in my town sold the beautiful patterned dish mats that you use all are solid colored no prints.
I just found your channel. I am a very beginner sewing person. And I haven't sewn in years at that. This inspires me to break out the machine again and give it a go. I watched your market bag tutorial and I love how you go slow with step by step instructions. Makes it so much easier for us beginners!

Made for $1.75. That’s $6.25 profit. That’s excellent!

Would this be good to use for wet clothing - i.e. when camping wet socks or bathing suits?

I often find clothing at garage sales for .50c. If there is a zipper, I get the item and remove the zipper.
Oh my gosh. I would never have thought of that. What a great idea!!
Ooooo! Great idea!
I always skip the yard sales that only have clothes for sale. Not any more! 😅
Right on!
So down to earth. I love it.

Love these easy projects. I wish my Dollar Tree had these dish mats, I only found the solid color msts.
Check Ross and Marshall’s as well! They usually have some on clearance!
Keep looking around DT. They sometimes have them in different areas. Ours puts some up with the "seasonal decorations" as well as on the kitchen wall.
