It’s never too early for starting Christmas projects 🎄. I love these placemats !!
Oh my, this is such a lovely way to make a place mat, I can see that method also being used to make cushion covers.
I agree Petra 😊, that's a great idea, I think we should do a video on that. What do you think?
I have painters tape works great to quilt things. I sew on either side and then can reuse it for several times. Saves time!
Such a great idea!! Thank you!
What a great idea Vera 😊. Thank you for sharing, I hadn't thought of doing that.
I do this, too. It works really well. I remember my grandmother had an old Necchi sewing machine that had an L shaped quilting guide attachment. You just set it for the size of the rows you wanted and once you sewed the first row you placed the guide on the stitches and the machine sewed the next row perfectly. I don’t know why machines don’t still have this feature, especially with quilting being so popular now.
@@wildwestjanbutcher650 They stil make those sewing feet with that bar. My Singer machine came with one, so did my White.
If you ever use fusible web, keep the tiny pieces for this kind of project. You can put it on the back of the middle piece when positioning the rectangle. I rarely use pins bc they like to "bite" me lol. And I don't think to get blo)d on any presents.
What a great idea Laris, I really like that tip.😊
Thank you! It's never to early for Christmas ideas. Great easy tutorial.
Never too early to start Christmas especially getting ready for craft fairs❤
Absolutely Barbara 😊
I love your quick pattern suggestion for any season of placemats!! Thank you!
Thank you 😊. Yes these can absolutely be made for any season. I've been eyeing off some lovely fall fabric.
Absolutely love this idea! Thank you for the tutorial
Wow, good thing I couldn't fall asleep! I just joined Craftsy! I've always wanted to but never did... thank you for promoting Craftsy. EDIT: I just finished watching this tutorial and what a fantastic way to make placemats!!
There is just so much that they have classes for. Paula did a photography course some time ago and we have done some cooking classes, and our Stupendous Stitches bag, which I love. The biggest problem for me is to actually stop and do a class rather than keep scrolling through 🤣 a bit like Netflix.
@@alandacraft oh neato! I'll look your classes up! Thank you!
Yes, it IS too early for Christmas projects 🤢 Says I, who started to go through my Xmas fabrics 2 months ago in anticipation…I love the way you have made your placemats, I have never seen them done this way and it is genius☺️
🤣. Glad to hear you like the tutorial.
Love this technique, thanks! I’ve had a Craftsy subscription for years. It’s great, especially when you can get it for $1.49 a year.
I agree it's such a bargain. We have used our subscription over the years to learn all sorts of things.
I LOVE THIS!! easy enough for a beginner!! You are such a great teacher.
Thank you so much 😊
I'm a beginner sewer, so thank you so much for this wonderful idea and tutorial! Never too early to prepare for Christmas! 😊
You are most welcome Kim, I'm glad you like it.
I needed to see this today. Thank you for sharing.
Happy to hear you like it Dorothy 😊
Lovely pattern, thankyou🎉
Never ever ever too early. ❤❤❤ great project. Thank you ❤❤❤ 🌨 🎄
Glad you like it Judy 😊
A lovely project. Some great tips. Thank you.
I should have started in January . I am new to sewing an embroidery since October 2023 and had so many projects I was going to make for Christmas😅 only accomplished, making a few of them.
You present excellent instructions, and you articulate so professionally . You are the most well-spoken, clear, and concise presenter that I have seen. I watch loads of videos. So thank you very much❤
Thank you for your lovely comment Sheryl 😊. I know how you feel about trying to get everything done in time for Christmas. I always have the best intentions but somehow seem to come across stumbling blocks on the way 😂.
Beautiful project.
I love your videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise in your tutorials.
You are so welcome 😊. I am happy to hear you like the videos.
This is wonderful!! And never too early for Christmas. 😍
Absolutely, and especially when you have a large family and lots of friends. Glad you like the tutorial 😊.
Those are so pretty and it's never to late to start Christmas activities. I love making and giving homemade gifts for Christmas. I think people cherish the gifts more. 😊❤
Thank you 😊. I absolutely agree with you. I know my family love receiving and giving home made gifts. So we all end up with something tasty or practical. It's a win win.
Wonderful idea and so easy!!!!
That's pretty slick. I think having a thicker center with the extra layer of fabric would be good if the plates a bit warm.
I agree 😊
These are great! Thank you for sharing.
Hi. I don't think it's ever to early to make Christmas projects. I like the frabic you choose. Thanks for sharing
Never too early! (Truth is, we will still be sewing up to the holiday if history tells me anything 😂)…
I did finish a holiday quilt gift and got it off to the quilter, I hope I get it bound before Christmas!!
Happy sewing!
Classic 😂. I think I need to start straight after Christmas is over. Best intentions and all that.
Thank you!
That’s great! Thank you 🙏
What an interesting technique. Can’t wait to try it for a variety of projects!
😅Very cute placemats! My quilting group makes placemats for “Meals on Wheels” so this would be fast and very cute!!!
What a lovely idea Cindy 😊, and for a really good cause. I'm glad you like it.
Great easy project! Would be excellent for gifts!
Oh and no, it's never too early to make Christmas projects, especially gifts.
Спасибо большое за видео! Ваши работы очень красивы!❤❤❤
Thank you for your lovely comment 😊.
Using a walking foot with a distance guide will keep you from having to mark the top with the Frixion pen.
What a great idea!!! I can't wait to make some beautiful placemats.
It's such a quick and easy way to make them. Have fun Dawn 😊
Such a wonderful tutorial👏👏👏
❤️😀
Thank you Rachel 😊
Perfect 👍
❤❤❤ I LOVE this!!! Very quick way to make beautiful placemats and quilt them yourself! Do you use a scant 1/4" seam allowance?
I don't really worry about doing a scant 1/4"seam. The only time I would do a 1/4" is if I purchased a pattern and the instructions said to do so. For the projects that we create we only ever use a 1/4" seam. Hope that helps 😊.
@@alandacraft It does help! Thank you so much!! And thank you for replying to comments and questions. I don't know if you realize just how much it means to us...well, to me for sure! lol! ❤️
Very pretty! Good reminder to get going with Christmas making! Sadly, the Craftsy link was not working.
I've just checked it for you and it seems to be working okay. It may have been a glitch at the time.
Yes it most definitely is! 😂
❤
Thank you forwhat u do
My pleasure Kathy, thank you 😊
Can you sew just the block instead of continuously sewing all the way down the edges? I’m asking because I’m working a project I don’t necessarily want seams past the block I have in the center
Wish you would of shown how to finish the project by pitting the edging on.
These videos are designed to show techniques Jackie, however, we do have videos on how to add binding to table runners, placemats etc. Here is a link www.alandacraft.com/2022/05/01/bind-placemat-table-runner/.
No its not. Lol. This usually the time projects start
Craftsy is a scam!
Why do you think this?
I unfollowed you due to Trump ad.
You do realise that it's TH-cam that decides most of the ads, not the content creator 🙄
Thank you Alexandra 😊. I was just on my way to say that.
Ridiculous she does not have a say to ads OMG
Thank you for a wonderful Christmas gift
