Knee Stiffness is a common and disabling condition. In many case the knee is jammed and not able to move completely. sometimes it is not possible to straighten the knee and sometimes it is not possible to bend the knee. Most cases are corrected by physiotherapy. The best treatment is arthroscopic arthrolysis procedure. It is a keyhole surgery to correct the problem.

Many a times knee stiffness comes as a result of surgery. Knees stiffness is seen after plating surgery etc. Distal femur fracture plating and Hoffa's fracture surgery commonly leads to stiff knee .
Stiff knee can also result from Osteoarthritis of the Knee. Stiff knee can also be seen in Rheumatoid Arthritis . Stiff knee can be in flexion or extension that means the patient can have problem in making knee straight or bending the knee.

Sir..my right femur was broken just above the knee in 2017. Plate implanted followed by plaster. After removing the bandage doctor not suggested physiotherapy as a result it got stiff. Later I did physiotherapy for 1 year for no output. It's now bending only 60 to 70 degrees. Now I m planning to remove the plate. Will it increase the mobility sir? Or please advise any other suitable procedure.
