Walking The Real Streets of Accra, Ghana (

  • Ghana. If you ask anyone about Ghana, they'll probably have good things to say. It's a great place to start if you've never traveled to Africa before. And if you do visit, Accra will be your starting point. Most people arrive here and have a taxi whisk them from tourist site to another, and I can't fault 'em for that. But I'm someone who likes to get a real feel for a place when I visit. So I decided to walk across the whole city and see what I'd find. Maybe even a wife!

"Heated discussion" I love the common reaction you had to the Ga people conversing, yes, conversing. They were having a normal talk but they speak their language, also called Ga with such "vim" you would think its an argument ahahah. I spent 2 months there in April and walked the same streets you did, I'm from UK born and raised but I my ancestors goes back to Ghana, my last name being Ayité. The Ayite name is a Ga name and when I went to Jamestown, which is where the Ga tribe reside, they called me Nii Ayite (King Ayite). I was a oboroni king in Jamestown. Best 2 months of my life.
That was my first time travelling like that, as in more than a couple of weeks. I just wanna say the way you conduct yourself as a solo party in these areas is really inspiring. For the first couple weeks in Ghana it was taxi-place-taxi. But u have shown me that with some experiences you can be more confident walking around and getting a real experience, when I go back or go somewhere else I'll be more like you man I'm taking tips for real.
After taxis it started being tro-tros. Never had the balls to ride the motorcycle tho ahah. Thank you for this vid it meant alot.

Many are surprised by you knowing their language, 100% it helps. I am not surprised China is building over there, soon they will take over Africa as they have Jamaica & other places, whilst many of their own people suffer extreme poverty & starvation. China's plan is simple for Ghana or any place with sea borders. Offer free Aid in the form of construction of a "Fishing port". Then. The Chinese fishing fleets will use the port. Fish the waters clean. Then the fish vendor woman you asked about the salted fish will have NO fish. They attempted to do the same in the Bahamas. State Department shut that down. Florida commercial fishing would have been crushed in the Straights.

You finally made it to Ghana 🇬🇭 . Try some Golden Tree chocolate 🍫 , Wakye, Fufu and Banku + Okra stew. Try Papaye restaurant. They have good fried rice.
    Also try and visit Kumasi.

I wish it wasn't so damn complicated and expensive to visit multiple African countries on one trip. The $160 visa for Nigeria was enough to make me roll my eyes and choose Middle East / Asia for my next trip.

Man Tommy you're trucking on the sub count. 18 months ago in TZ you were at 20k subs and now ( August 27, 2022 youre at over 300k subs). All your vlogs are inspirational but Africa is the engine that draws your most viewers. The fact that youre a natural at mastering so many local African languages makes you head and shoulder above your contemporaries. To be a NY Native with such a vast language knowledge is a good look for NY peeps. I can only imagine when you drop into the francophone countries with your fluent french.. youll be right at home there too. Then again I suspect you prefer tackling new or less known languages. Never mind Tommy go where your heart takes you, but just know you're dropping gems and nuggets of knowledge and history everywhere you trod. Safe travels my fearless vlogger!!

It is so sad and it even makes me angry (father is from Senegal) that many parts are filled with tons of trash! There could be restaurants and shops where people could work and profit from tourists bc tourists will come when it will be more clean and authorities would make more marketing for Ghana!!
