*South Sudan has been on my list for a long time.* It has always intrigued me and made me want to see what it is like on the ground due to the recent history. I managed to get access to some areas of South Sudan that have rarely been covered. This is going to be an interesting trip to say the least. Thank you for joining me. I have a friend in South Sudan, and he has told me about Juba, and the situation there. Yes, I read about the military and political situation, but, your report really illustrates well the suffering of the common people.

This guy is disrespectful and lacks emotional intelligence (empathy). He will do anything for attention and people like you should not validate him or commend him. This is not journalism in any way, shape or form. This guy would never even think about doing something like this in a western country like the United States or the U. K.
If we see a scene like this, RIGHT AWAY, our impression is THE ENTIRE COUNTRY LOOKS LIKE THIS. ( we all tend to) Wrong. It may be so many communities look like this but there's just as many that looks fine. We are all judgmental. We judge anyone and any place from our first impression. For a person to be judged, we need to live with that person and for us to know how a place is, we need to see and experience its entirety for a reasonable period of time. Especially for us who live in the rich part of the western world, we tend to paint a country based on the first color we see it is. We forget that people from poor countries also have pride and honor. They did not choose to be born in a poor country. Did we? in the west? where from the get go, the moment we turn the working age, we don't really struggle finding jobs and once we did, it is the start of our freedom: TO BUY WHAT WE WANT AND ENJOY LIFE. It's not the case for those born in extremely poor countries. It would be nice if we look at poor nationalities the same way we look at ourselves.
@@miguelbalisi9952 Well you say that they did not choose to be born in a poor country which is true however the parents chose to have children knowing that they would be born into a dangerous and poor environment, infact many of these people are having more children than families in the west. People argue that there is no protection/condoms availabe but that means these people are choosing to have sex kowing that they will likely get pregnant regardless of the suffering it will cause the child. Where is the accountability??

Not to defend irresponsibility if it's seen that way, but If you are not brought up in a strong Catholic culture, one that doesn't believe in family control or planning, it is very convenient and easy to say what you said. You were not born in strong Catholic and family values and beliefs. We are. It is easy to say we need to be responsible, but we have our own religious or cultural convictions, something no one should find fault in. It is the place of the government to IMPOSE what needs be, to the effect that EVERY CITIZEN will obey, like China's iron-handed ONE CHILD policy, which worked, or, the Chinese would have been 2 billion by now. One more culture we have is the American freedom that we inherited from the American government. We are democratic and free to choose. It is a NO-EASY-FIX. I would REITERATE my point, we are born in a strong Catholic and family-oriented culture, free of individualism, and democratic form of government. You were not. This may put blame on religion but it will boil down to the west's "Live an easy life" avoid hardship, one that is impossible for everyone. But let us abide by the west's promotion of RESPECT FOR ALL. Try putting on our shoes at least on a fair perspective, not judgmental, the way the westerners do it. The bottom line is the lack of job for all. Filipinos are known as hardworkers. In as much as the government do a constant Clearing Operation of Manila, the vendors on our sidewalks comes back once the Police is gone. They need to make money. Funny but it is a testament to the Filipinos hardworking character to be able to get by. Our government also provide welfare to THE AUTHENTICALLY PROVEN disabled, depressed, orphaned and destitute citizens. They use welfare monet to buy basic needs.
@@miguelbalisi9952 Religion was disproven a long tine ago now, people have the freedom to take part in religious things but it is now more of a hobby than an unbreakable code so it does not really factor into people's responsibility in the modern world. The catholic religion was debunked even earlier in 1517, the reformation proved that religious leaders and the church had made up large parts of the religion to take money from people, for example the idea of purgatory was proven to have been invented at a meeting of church leaders. Hence the creation of protestants. The fact is that we have scientific information available to all so they cannot really claim religion as a reason for their actions when the evidence is there to discover and learn. Even with a person who has had the facts hidden from them and believes in religion they still have their own judgement and decision making skills to know when something is wrong and act accordingly, that is why martin Luther spoke out in 1517 because he knew what was right and wrong. Surely with a religious person they are taught that jesus is a good person that helps people and tries to stop suffering, so despite any rules he would not like a person that knew there could be suffering and made it happen, that would be an insult to the idea that he died for people's sins and to make the world a better place. In reality it comes down to critical thinking, even if a person was determined to have multiple children surely they should beforehand make a concerted effort to make money and prepare a safe environment for the proposed child. In addition, regarding religion, if a person had a child that they knew would suffer and that child went on to die from sickness or poverty, they would be responsible for their death ensuring they would go to hell, and even without a death if they intentionally brought about suffering to a creation of god that is as innocent and a child that may be reason enough for eternity in hell anyway
My heart goes out to the young man who is alone in the city without his family. In his eyes is the same pain I see in my own brother as he also is struggling with life. Breaks my heart and keeps me up at night. I wish I could see joy, and let that be my hope.

Nick, I can't thank you enough. I'm a South Sudanese born and raised entirely within. I've been seeing this video and one other for a while now I can't help but drop tears, I couldn't comment either but today I got the energy to. There's no life there only survival, every hour you spend every morning you wake is a true benediction whether or not you believe in God in that situation I promise you would! No hope! I'm currently out of the country but every time with every heartbeat I think about and pray for family and friends. I rarely comment on videos, however, your take on South Sudan is so well presented and genuine that I can’t say anything less than amazing work. It’s a very tragic setting, but you portray it objectively with respect for the locals, well done.
I clicked on this video kind of randomly for no particular reason. You have some extraordinary investigative journalism skills and produce factual content that would put a lot of traditional news media to shame. This was unbelievably incredible and a fantastic insight into the lives of the South Sudanese. So respectful as well.
There is no real journalism anymore in this country. Universities no longer teach the basic tenants of objective journalism. Colleges teach the methods of propaganda, suggestion and activism. At least if it were both sides of the political and social spectrum argued Americans wouldn't be the delusional idiots we are now.
Vice and other major outlets have done stuff like this for years. What he’s doing is great, but acting like “traditional news media” doesn’t do this is simply a lack of awareness.
My dad is from South Sudan the Nuer tribe, he is a lost boy. He walked 6 months to Uganda, just to escape the war, he left his family at the age of 14 and joined the army at 15, spent some years in Ethiopia and Uganda before coming to the US in 2001 at 18. He wants to go back though, even though its still dangerous. He misses his home
My sentiment too mate, amazed so soon after a place like Haiti, Nick is here in South Sudan. Eye opening. Makes one feel insignificant in what we do in our day to day lives when you see this.

Nick this is my country, I am originally from South Sudan and speak a language that you highlighted in the video. Now I currently reside in Boston, Mass and have been here for 15 years, thank you for highlighting my beautiful people and their plight to survival.
I worked in South Sudan in 2007-08 in Malakal. It's really interesting for me to see Juba 15 years later. It's hard to believe the place could've gone backwards, but it has. So sad for the people of South Sudan who have already gone through so much. Thanks for showing this part of the world that always gets forgotten.
I met an aid worker returning to South Sudan a few years ago, he looked so dejected and mentioned the sheer cost of travel in the country (cost of petrol for helicopters) really hampered how far the agency could reach those more in the provinces outside of the capital. Met him a few weeks after they had declared their independence, can't imagine what it must be like now.

Ukraine vs Russia is an ethnic conflict, but we are given a background and possible reasons for it. There are goals alleged. But with this people are shown fighting just to fight. Its an IQ issue but people just call you racist when you say that. The Average IQ in sudan is 75-77. If you score 75-77 in USA/UK/AUS/EU You're considered mildly mentally retarded and are given very special education routes, attention and care. Imagine if everyone in your country needed this attention and care on average and no one could provide it - It would cause extreme chaos. This is Africa.

this is amazing journalism. i was born and raised in south Sudan, i got my citizenship 7 years ago through a hb1 visa. I've been living in America for a decade and i have to say that if you were born in the US count your blessings. literally most of the world lives on 2 dollars a day. the average American homeless person/panhandler in America makes 15/hr with resources at every corner to help them. I came from another country dirt poor living in a makeshift house studying torn computer science books by candlelight, then walking 10 miles every other day to use a computer to practice programming. if you live in the US and still live in poverty its your fault but your own.

Honestly I wish BLM was more structured but it fell apart .Working in corporate America I get nasty looks all day from white men and all I’ve done is my job. Yeah I feel like people from US and Europe often dont realize how good we have it. At the same time we can only have it this good because of exploiting countries and keeping them poor for cheap man power and resources, you are either born in lucky 20% or work to keep them rich.
@@Achtolz That's kinda an over simplistic take on the situation. Also, it's most certainly not just western countries that are taking advantage of Africa. You can clearly see there are major issues in this particular country that are not caused by cheap/slave labour.
This is what these people create. Make All Countries Great, each in their own positive ways. These people have a lot of improvement to make with their society, with their country. They should stay there and create goodness, not squalor.
They haven't evolved since the dawn of time. Africans infighting can never be "news" because it's simply a fact of life that one can always infer. Just as the wind blows and water is wet, Africa will never ascend from barbarism.
They suffer, but what do they produce worth exchanging for a better life? Nothing. They have a resource rich country, but they don't produce anything of note with it.

These videos really show the cultural differences between places that you’d never see from the bougie travel bloggers who just do touristy stuff in places everyone else visits. Seeing the experiences for the bulk of the world that lives in bare survival is a service.
My family lived with a Sudanese refugee from 2006 to 2008, in Australia. I have so many memories of him and I think of him all the time... I never thought I would be able to see any part of Sudan. Thank you for doing what you do.

I've spent a whole year in Wau, South Sudan and it was the most exciting, beautiful, challenging and life changing experience in my life. I’m from the US too. These Haiti and South Sudan and Venezuela etc stories are unbelievable! I just started reading “New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” by John Perkins. That must explain some of what Nick is seeing.
I was there in 2012, south of Juba, on a humanitarian mission. The whole experience was an assault on the senses and emotions. Yet, the people we engaged with were (mostly) amazing and welcoming. You'd expect a culture shock by going to such a place, but the culture shock for me was returning to the states. May God bless South Sudan.

Hi Nick. Since discovering your channel this morning I've been watching them back to back. South Sudan is another place I have been very interested in, though I'm white and never been to Africa. I think my traveling days are over so I armchair travel. My husband and I support a group of indigenous-led Christian orphanages and hospitals/clinics in S. Sudan, and have done so for years. It does have roots in the USA, but it is mainly indigenous nowadays. Over the years it has grown from one man teaching orphan children under a tree right after the war that separated S. Sudan from Sudan. My heart goes out to the people of S. Sudan, to those caught in the web of poverty and living on/in the streets. And to those who try so hard to scratch a living on a rock, so to speak. And many kudos to you for braving the possible dangers of going to places like this to let us see just a glimpse of our fellow humans who suffer.
Your channel has become a really unique way to get an insight into what everyday reality looks like for people in parts of the "developing world". Your videos in Haiti, Nigeria & now South Sudan are an eye opener.

About a year ago, I visited Scheels in Fargo, ND with my dog, and had an encounter I’ll never forget. One of the employees, a man from South Sudan, greeted us with a warmth that instantly touched my heart. His kindness radiated through every word he spoke, and his humility was so genuine it left a lasting impression. He had the gentlest soul, and had a smile that lit up the room, impossible to forget. What struck me even more was how my dog responded to him. I've never seen my dog so overjoyed to meet someone new. The connection between them was instant and pure. I still think about that moment, and I sincerely hope that he and his family are thriving and finding happiness in America. They truly deserve it.
This was a tough one to watch. I'm from South Africa and it's so easy to turn a blind eye to what's happening in fellow African countries... Thank you for making us aware of the situations in so many countries, Nick.

The mislead the people living in other countries by showing footage of only poverty and the bushes of Africa yet there is so much development, educated people, developed fisrt world cities and technology and we live far from the wildlife. Yesterday there was a question of how we live near lions…ha ha ha! So many people believe we live in the jungles.

I visited North Sudan (Khartoum) in 1980 at age 20, and met a young woman from South Sudan, about my age, who was working for a fairly wealthy family as a house maid. Her English was very good. We got along very well, and she told me she really wanted to further her education and make a better life for herself. I really hope that happened. Her determination made an impact on me. In recent years I have been helping support a community project in Pajok, South Sudan. Some of the children are currently living in Uganda, continuing their education, safer and we'll cared for in a hostel. They see their mum's at the weekends. Young adults there are pursuing professional education; medical, teaching, paramedic. Real progress is being made, and I am thrilled for them. I have no idea if they will return to South Sudan, but they are in good jobs, those who have qualified, so they can help support their families. It is a privilege and joy to help them. I know where the money goes, which gives me confidence in giving for that reason. God bless you in your work ❤️

This guy is disrespectful and lacks emotional intelligence (empathy). He will do anything for attention and people like you should not validate him or commend him. This is not journalism in any way, shape or form. This guy would never even think about doing something like this in a western country like the United States or the U. K.

Hi Nick. Would love if you were able to do a journalistic vlog in Jamaica. We are by no means the poorest country but yet consistently the top 3-5 most violent in terms of murders per capita. I lived in a small Costa Rican beach town on the Caribbean side an hour south of Limon. I met many refugees escaping hardships in Jamaica who would save $ many years to afford a spot on a port ship to come to costa rica looking for a better life. The small beachside towns are heavily populated with Jamaicans and their culture. Reading your comment about the country surprise’s me because they are the nicest people.
Do not encourage him to go to Jamaica... If he thinks that Jamaican will tolerate him talking down their country and walking the ghetto...he better think again.

I am amazed at what your courageous & insightful content has taught me about Haiti, Venezuala, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, North Korea & Yemen (My viewing so far) What we are fed in the media (whatever form that takes) is mostly dispelled by your objective viewpoint & interactions with the actual people that live in these countries rather than the politics we are fed. I lived and worked in South Sudan and Juba for one full year with the United Nations around 13 years ago, the year prior it became independent. Sad to see the state of the city and level of poverty. It's by far the most challenging place I've lived and worked in...(including Afghanistan). good that you chose it as a destination and that it reaches a large number of viewers.
As hard as life can be I am SO grateful for my problems. My prayers and respect go out for the people of Sudan. I thought my kids had it hard but to see children living in this is such a hard pill to swallow. To know how selfish our world is... That we allow people to live n these conditions while we live comfortably... Jesus please intercede for your children as only you can.
This is the aftermath of Colonialism. When people are colonized, they are also being governed, and there are support systems in place. Plantations are bad, but there is food, water, shelter, and an outhouse. When South Sudan gained it's independence in 2011, those support systems collapsed. And war is almost always inevitable until a balance is reached. Think of the U.S. when slavery was abolished. There were Jim Crow Laws, segregation, lynching, police brutality, indentured servitude, political assassinations, etc. When we Africans came out on the other side of that, we were and are still angry. We are still healing. This happens in all countries, but it is difficult to watch it when the living conditions are this extreme. Remember when we were kids, and people made skinny Ethiopian jokes? Look at Ethiopia, Botswana, South Africa, Rwanda, and many other African countries TODAY. Twenty years ago, people were terrified of Rwanda, now people vacation there. Really look & see how far they've come since escaping the claws of Colonialism. Keep the faith. They will heal overtime, and things will get better. ❤✊🏾

I remember when South Sudan gained independence in 2011. There were hopes amongst countless relief workers and organizations that this peaceful separation and new country would FINALLY bring lasting stability to the region. For it to fall to this is nothing short of heartbreaking. The people of Botswana probably have little idea how lucky they are to have never had these horrible stability and corruption problems compared to countless of their African neighbors. It shows just how unique Seretse Khama was as a founding leader.
Religion doesn't do squat, in fact in Africa, the silly Christian religion that Americans bring teaches people how to hate their neighbors and kill them if they are different, especially if they are gay. Religion is garbage and it drags humanity down, not up.

It may be so many communities look like this but there's just as many that looks fine. We are all judgmental. We judge anyone and any place from our first impression. For a person to be judged, we need to live with that person and for us to know how a place is, we need to see and experience its entirety for a reasonable period of time. Especially for us who live in the rich part of the western world, we tend to paint a country based on the first color we see it is. We forget that people from poor countries also have pride and honor. They did not choose to be born in a poor country. Did we? in the west? where from the get go, the moment we turn the working age, we don't really struggle finding jobs and once we did, it is the start of our freedom: TO BUY WHAT WE WANT AND ENJOY LIFE. It's not the case for those born in extremely poor countries. It would be nice if we look at poor nationalities the same way we look at ourselves.

In as much as the government do a constant Clearing Operation of Manila, the vendors on our sidewalks comes back once the Police is gone. They need to make money. Funny but it is a testament to the Filipinos hardworking character to be able to get by. Our government also provide welfare to THE AUTHENTICALLY PROVEN disabled, depressed, orphaned and destitute citizens. They use welfare monet to buy basic needs.

The catholic religion was debunked even earlier in 1517, the reformation proved that religious leaders and the church had made up large parts of the religion to take money from people, for example the idea of purgatory was proven to have been invented at a meeting of church leaders. Hence the creation of protestants. The fact is that we have scientific information available to all so they cannot really claim religion as a reason for their actions when the evidence is there to discover and learn. Even with a person who has had the facts hidden from them and believes in religion they still have their own judgement and decision making skills to know when something is wrong and act accordingly, that is why martin Luther spoke out in 1517 because he knew what was right and wrong. Surely with a religious person they are taught that jesus is a good person that helps people and tries to stop suffering, so despite any rules he would not like a person that knew there could be suffering and made it happen, that would be an insult to the idea that he died for people's sins and to make the world a better place. In reality it comes down to critical thinking, even if a person was determined to have multiple children surely they should beforehand make a concerted effort to make money and prepare a safe environment for the proposed child. In addition, regarding religion, if a person had a child that they knew would suffer and that child went on to die from sickness or poverty, they would be responsible for their death ensuring they would go to hell, and even without a death if they intentionally brought about suffering to a creation of god that is as innocent and a child that may be reason enough for eternity in hell anyway

I've been seeing this video and one other for a while now I can't help but drop tears, I couldn't comment either but today I got the energy to. I'm currently out of the country but every time with every heartbeat I think about and pray for family and friends. I rarely comment on videos, however, your take on South Sudan is so well presented and genuine that I can’t say anything less than amazing work. It’s a very tragic setting, but you portray it objectively with respect for the locals, well done.
I clicked on this video kind of randomly for no particular reason. You have some extraordinary investigative journalism skills and produce factual content that would put a lot of traditional news media to shame. This was unbelievably incredible and a fantastic insight into the lives of the South Sudanese. So respectful as well.

There is no real journalism anymore in this country. Universities no longer teach the basic tenants of objective journalism. Colleges teach the methods of propaganda, suggestion and activism. He walked 6 months to Uganda, just to escape the war, he left his family at the age of 14 and joined the army at 15, spent some years in Ethiopia and Uganda before coming to the US in 2001 at 18. He wants to go back though, even though its still dangerous. He misses his home

I worked in South Sudan in 2007-08 in Malakal. It's really interesting for me to see Juba 15 years later. It's hard to believe the place could've gone backwards, but it has. So sad for the people of South Sudan who have already gone through so much. Thanks for showing this part of the world that always gets forgotten.
I met an aid worker returning to South Sudan a few years ago, he looked so dejected and mentioned the sheer cost of travel in the country (cost of petrol for helicopters) really hampered how far the agency could reach those more in the provinces outside of the capital. Met him a few weeks after they had declared their independence, can't imagine what it must be like now.
The harsh truth is that there is nothing you can do for these people, this is the way they've always been and always will be.

Its an IQ issue but people just call you racist when you say that. The Average IQ in sudan is 75-77. If you score 75-77 in USA/UK/AUS/EU You're considered mildly mentally retarded and are given very special education routes, attention and care. Imagine if everyone in your country needed this attention and care on average and no one could provide it - It would cause extreme chaos. This is Africa.

this is amazing journalism. i was born and raised in south Sudan, i got my citizenship 7 years ago through a hb1 visa. I've been living in America for a decade and i have to say that if you were born in the US count your blessings. literally most of the world lives on 2 dollars a day. the average American homeless person/panhandler in America makes 15/hr with resources at every corner to help them. I came from another country dirt poor living in a makeshift house studying torn computer science books by candlelight, then walking 10 miles every other day to use a computer to practice programming. if you live in the US and still live in poverty its your fault but your own.

@@Achtolz That's kinda an over simplistic take on the situation. Also, it's most certainly not just western countries that are taking advantage of Africa. You can clearly see there are major issues in this particular country that are not caused by cheap/slave labour.
This is what these people create. Make All Countries Great, each in their own positive ways. These people have a lot of improvement to make with their society, with their country. They should stay there and create goodness, not squalor.

I was there in 2012, south of Juba, on a humanitarian mission. The whole experience was an assault on the senses and emotions. Yet, the people we engaged with were (mostly) amazing and welcoming. You'd expect a culture shock by going to such a place, but the culture shock for me was returning to the states. May God bless South Sudan.

Hi Nick. Since discovering your channel this morning I've been watching them back to back. South Sudan is another place I have been very interested in, though I'm white and never been to Africa. I think my traveling days are over so I armchair travel. My husband and I support a group of indigenous-led Christian orphanages and hospitals/clinics in S. Sudan, and have done so for years. It does have roots in the USA, but it is mainly indigenous nowadays. Over the years it has grown from one man teaching orphan children under a tree right after the war that separated S. Sudan from Sudan. My heart goes out to the people of S. Sudan, to those caught in the web of poverty and living on/in the streets. And to those who try so hard to scratch a living on a rock, so to speak. And many kudos to you for braving the possible dangers of going to places like this to let us see just a glimpse of our fellow humans who suffer.
Your channel has become a really unique way to get an insight into what everyday reality looks like for people in parts of the "developing world". Your videos in Haiti, Nigeria & now South Sudan are an eye opener.

About a year ago, I visited Scheels in Fargo, ND with my dog, and had an encounter I’ll never forget. One of the employees, a man from South Sudan, greeted us with a warmth that instantly touched my heart. His kindness radiated through every word he spoke, and his humility was so genuine it left a lasting impression. He had the gentlest soul, and had a smile that lit up the room, impossible to forget. What struck me even more was how my dog responded to him. I've never seen my dog so overjoyed to meet someone new. The connection between them was instant and pure. I still think about that moment, and I sincerely hope that he and his family are thriving and finding happiness in America. They truly deserve it.

I visited North Sudan (Khartoum) in 1980 at age 20, and met a young woman from South Sudan, about my age, who was working for a fairly wealthy family as a house maid. Her English was very good. We got along very well, and she told me she really wanted to further her education and make a better life for herself. I really hope that happened. Her determination made an impact on me.
In recent years I have been helping support a community project in Pajok, South Sudan. Some of the children are currently living in Uganda, continuing their education, safer and we'll cared for in a hostel. They see their mum's at the weekends. Young adults there are pursuing professional education; medical, teaching, paramedic. Real progress is being made, and I am thrilled for them. I have no idea if they will return to South Sudan, but they are in good jobs, those who have qualified, so they can help support their families. It is a privilege and joy to help them. I know where the money goes, which gives me confidence in giving for that reason. God bless you in your work ❤️

Over the last two years, I've seen occasional news stories on South Sudan but the information has been very limited. I appreciate that you've been able to provide a personal look at the lives of people in South Sudan.

Hi Nick. Would love if you were able to do a journalistic vlog in Jamaica. We are by no means the poorest country but yet consistently the top 3-5 most violent in terms of murders per capita. It is a very dichotomous island and has alot to offer the world.

Good day. I agree with you. I've lived in many dangerous countries including the Caribbean,. It would be good for people to see the Yard and learn about the non resort part of the country. I learned how to respect all people by living there. A very special place.

I lived in a small Costa Rican beach town on the Caribbean side an hour south of Limon. I met many refugees escaping hardships in Jamaica who would save $ many years to afford a spot on a port ship to come to costa rica looking for a better life. The small beachside towns are heavily populated with Jamaicans and their culture. Reading your comment about the country surprise’s me because they are the nicest people.
Do not encourage him to go to Jamaica... If he thinks that Jamaican will tolerate him talking down their country and walking the ghetto...he better think again.

I would need a bit to recover from being on edge so much somewhere with that much unrest (if i even had a sliver of courage to do so). Nick I feel so fortunate to have found your channel. I have binge watched your videos for the last 2 days. I am amazed at what your courageous & insightful content has taught me about Haiti, Venezuala, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, North Korea & Yemen (My viewing so far) What we are fed in the media (whatever form that takes) is mostly dispelled by your objective viewpoint & interactions with the actual people that live in these countries rather than the politics we are fed. Thank you for showing the real people in these countries, it is seriously educational & helps change perceptions that are often built on half truths, propaganda & straight out lies. I lived and worked in South Sudan and Juba for one full year with the United Nations around 13 years ago, the year prior it became independent. Sad to see the state of the city and level of poverty. It's by far the most challenging place I've lived and worked in...(including Afghanistan). good that you chose it as a destination and that it reaches a large number of viewers.

As hard as life can be I am SO grateful for my problems. My prayers and respect go out for the people of Sudan. I thought my kids had it hard but to see children living in this is such a hard pill to swallow. To know how selfish our world is... That we allow people to live n these conditions while we live comfortably... Jesus please intercede for your children as only you can.
This is the aftermath of Colonialism. When people are colonized, they are also being governed, and there are support systems in place. Plantations are bad, but there is food, water, shelter, and an outhouse. When South Sudan gained it's independence in 2011, those support systems collapsed. And war is almost always inevitable until a balance is reached. Think of the U.S. when slavery was abolished. There were Jim Crow Laws, segregation, lynching, police brutality, indentured servitude, political assassinations, etc. When we Africans came out on the other side of that, we were and are still angry. We are still healing. This happens in all countries, but it is difficult to watch it when the living conditions are this extreme. Remember when we were kids, and people made skinny Ethiopian jokes? Look at Ethiopia, Botswana, South Africa, Rwanda, and many other African countries TODAY. Twenty years ago, people were terrified of Rwanda, now people vacation there. Really look & see how far they've come since escaping the claws of Colonialism. Keep the faith. They will heal overtime, and things will get better. ❤✊🏾

I remember when South Sudan gained independence in 2011. There were hopes amongst countless relief workers and organizations that this peaceful separation and new country would FINALLY bring lasting stability to the region. For it to fall to this is nothing short of heartbreaking. The people of Botswana probably have little idea how lucky they are to have never had these horrible stability and corruption problems compared to countless of their African neighbors. It shows just how unique Seretse Khama was as a founding leader.
Religion doesn't do squat, in fact in Africa, the silly Christian religion that Americans bring teaches people how to hate their neighbors and kill them if they are different, especially if they are gay. Religion is garbage and it drags humanity down, not up.

thank you for bringing this issue up. Barely anybody talks about it. And also to the fact that it is very hard to even get help to these people hurts. Im Sudanese but I'm lucky enough to be living in Australia. my heart goes out to them. I'm from Darfur west Sudan and i will keep them in my prayers. Hopefully something is done about this. Also great work on your journalism, it is impressive the amount of dedication you have to plan this for 2 years.

So, what do you suggest we (as in, the white industrialized countries, cause no other race is doing anything for anyone) should do to help them that we are not already doing? Didn't you see the UN trucks providing protection and order? Don't you know the UNICEF and other humanitarian organizations bring all kind of aids? Don't you know the industrialized world pours billions into these countries with same results?! Didn't you hear the guide say that Sudan exports huge amounts of oil, where do the profits of that oil go? Don't you know corrupt politicians and drug lords keep the money and the people gets nothing. And didn't you hear the woman saying "boys don't want to work, they only want alcohol and drugs?"
I am sick and tired of being taxed to death to support country run by thieves who steal all the money and let their people starve, then blame "the white man" for their conditions; Either your people let us in an allow us to take charge and put order in their countries or they need to stop sticking their hands out for money!
Did you watch Wode Maya video about South Sudan. Please do if you didn't. Australia has more druggies than those few you saw & can be counted. How many in that country have terrible mental health illness. South Sudan is no different to any other African countries like my mother land Zimbabwe. This guy was all about showing stupid unnecessary stuff but nothing was really bad to a point he wanted even the slumps he was after are not there. Does it make sense to say that all rich people in South Sudan live in hotels. This pink boy should have been thrown into the Nile. He dare not come to Zimbabwe because we don't tolerate such nonsense. Viva Africa. Viva South Sudan. Us Africans we are too nice like the wonderful people in South Sudan.
