The manufacturer that designed the mobula7 clearly CLEARLY stated it was designed for outdoor and manageable for indoor flying. However,, Emax have stated in one Facebook post I recall that the tinyhawk was designed for indoor flying or indoor racing. With that said,, the comparison maybe apples to oranges. Everyone complaining about the tinyhawk only being 1S power but yet to realize it's only made for indoor flying and maybe Emax only intended for indoor racing that's manageable with a little extra power than a tinywhoop type. The mobula7 on 2S is clearly for outdoor ripping. So, of course the mobula7 is the better choice because it was designed to suit indoor and outdoor desires. But,, if you got a good product,, you can put it out there and shut up and let it speak or advertise itself and the consumers will hype it up for you. Just like what we're seeing going on with the mobula7. Just my opinion.

If your drone is too powerful just increase the throttle endpoint. So when your taranis is saying 2000ms that's still only 80% or whatever. Or decrease the max on your tx. I did that while learning on my Wizard with 4s
Joshua, you can limit your throttle in your Taranis for indoor flying. Just copy your profile, then reduce weight of throttle from 100 to 75 or 50, and adjust the Offset so the range starts at -100. And you will get well controlled brushless (better than brushed) Whoop with 4-5 minutes of flight time.
You stated you wished that the camera angle was higher.... It is adjustable, not fixed as you stated. would have been nice to see some more flips and rolls as well. I find with my whoop, flips are only possible with 100% battery otherwise you loose too much altitude post flip.. Thanks for the info!
Flying a beta75x myself. The washout drives me nuts in freestyle. Has tonnes of power to handle moves but dives and loops are scary. Wish I had the Mobula7 :(
Very nice video I loved it but you totally missed one of the main features: the adjustable camera? Also why is no one showing 1s performance properly? Anyway this is the video I was expecting for, loved the performance!
I have been thinking the same thing. Either they completely ignore that it can fly 1s, or they try and take a 1s micro outside and fly next to the Mobula on 2s...than talk shit about the 1s quad the rest of the video. I think these guys get so excited about the Mobula's performance that they completely lose sight of proper comparison.
Joshua Bardwell and not saying by any means it’s better . Your review nails it with explaining how a Whoop feels 1s or 2s it’s still a whoop and not a 5” freestyler.. I have the beta 75x and it’s a blast to fly in tight outdoor stuff, But that’s it. For freestyle and pure raw power 5” inch is the only way IMO!
Im just glad JB showed that this mob 7 has washout too, on some groups it has god like status. Yes I have a 65 and 75x and was going to grab one of these before watching this video.
The camera angle is adjustable. And I don't agree that it is necessary to charge the batteries up to HV. I charge them to 4.2V and manage a 4 minute flight time. Further on I agree that it is possible to fly it 2s indoors. And nice to see that you changed your mind about this quad :)
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the binding procedure can be accessed through the CLI on Betaflight. I have the DSMX version and that's what they recommend from the manufacturer. Also the Betafpv 300mah batteries fit well too. Hope this helps 😉
I got my Mobula7 a week ago and it flies good on 2 s but it flies 6 minutes on a GNB 550 1s and it's a total blast even outdoors. 2s is fine on this but short flight times. 1s is 6 minutes of total fun. Acro mode no problem and 1s indoors is awesome. The camera tilts up for fast flying. I do agree that the exposure on the camera is not good especially with big changes in light but for the money it's awesome.
Cameron Dasso: Excellent feedback! I've been wondering about this ever since I first heard about the Mobula7 6 or 7 weeks ago. I kept thinking that something like this might still be a lot of fun on 1S and fly a lot longer. I really appreciate you sharing that and confirming my suspicions. I'm getting VERY impatient waiting for mine to show up...ordered it nesrly 6 weeks ago from a highly-rated eBay seller, and still no dice. Grrrrr....
Big thanks Joshua for the confirmation. I've already purchased it a week ago (a week before your video) and I'm waiting for it to try it out this year. But I guess I needed also your opinion about Mobula 7 to make sure it's fine. Looks like it was a good choice. I was looking for few months for a safe micro which unlike my 600 gram or even 90 gram HD camera quads - can be used in a park but with more power than my tiny, light QX65 (almost the same weight to tell the truth, but loses the power often) and also with, what's very, very important in parks - a buzzer. Yes, finally - a safe Tiny Whoop with a buzzer and a lot of power. The only thing it's missing to make it perfect is HD DVR camera. But I guess we will have to dream on and wait for some light, 5g solution a few more years. Thanks again for the review and settings tips.
Cool video! Although, I think you can leave airmode off and just toggle off motor stop to have the props spin up at arm and keep spinning at zero throttle. Also, you can have angle and airmode set to a switch. If you toggle on airmode as shown in the video I think it will be always on and you won't be able to use angle or horizon mode. Also, when the heck are they gonna make a CCD cam small enough to Whoop!? Still watching👍🏽
@@JoshuaBardwell I know turning off the accelerometer makes quads fly better but for a Tiny Whoop in small spaces I think angle mode is the way to go.. Is there a way to hit that airmode toggle you hit and still have angle mode? Whenever I find that airmode switch toggled on I can't get any of the modes to work, it's all airmode!
@@JoshuaBardwell makes it tumble?? You mean do a death roll? If so, I have only ever saw 1 Whoop do a death roll and that was the Tinyhawk and it was the MCU lockup thing happening..
Thinking of newbies that want to get into the hobby and fly acro, freestyle, racing: do you think learning on Mobus7 and Tinyhawk is a good option vs just bashing up 5” quads? In other words is it easier to go from the little quad to the bigger quads? Most of your comments seem to be about going from the 5” to the minis and how they’re lacking performance.
I fitted an elastic band around my Mobi to add some friction to the batteries. Your indoor flying is 110% better than mine by the way don't know how I haven't broken mine yet!
After a small bump mine will not hover, just flips or spins around. I've checked the motors (twitchy on motor 4 so swapped it out) w same problem. Also checked prop direction, flashed FC and escs ..
Thank you Joshua! Everyone is complaining that it is too fast indoors on 2S. I agree with you that it controls much better than a 1S, like my Snapper7. I guess happymodel have found the magic sauce for power whoop tuning!
Mr. Bardwell, any chance of showing binding the mobula7 to spectrum and how to set up betaflight? I know it's a late question, but I've yet to find a video like that.
I don't have a Spektrum Mobula to demonstrate on but there are full binding instructions in the Mobula manual. Search for "mobula manual dsmx" and you'll find it.
No affiliate link to a better aio camera? I keep my wires under the camera to protect it from shorting anything out. Also I always use a cheap low voltage alarm with that charger.
What rx antenna do you need for the Mobula 7? I'm guessing it's 5.8ghz. I have a rhcp antenna on my goggles but not sure if I would need a dipole. Cheers Joshua, keep up the good work. I learn something every day!
Hey I got a Mobula 7 of aliexpress and the FC won't connect to any of my comnputers (Mac or PC - USB doesn't recognize anything) even after I have installed all the drivers etc. HappyModel wants me to ship it back for $45 international (out of my pocket) so they can fix it and ship it back. Do you think you could help?
Great review! I am still amazed that NO ONE is talking about the tinyhawk problem that when it crashes motors just go full speed unless you disarm it! This happens with no other of my whoops and it is frustrating... havent really been able to enjoy the tinyhawk so much due to this... and yes other folks are having the same problem, but not everyone... Put an EMAX ticket about two weeks ago, they've yet to respond! SAVE YOUR MONEY and headaches! and go with MOBULA 7!

So I followed the instructions and although the GPS gets a 3D satellite lock but it is not talking to the flight controller. This is the third video on setting it up I have watched. And I have tried every configuration variation I can think of. So I am thinking there is some incompatibility going on. And yes I have tried switching tx and rx wires. I saw a flight controller note about 3.3 volt vs 5 volt UART ports. I tried both, no help. I see a 3.5 volt data signal from the GPS tx line (on my oscope). Hmm. Well I guess I will try it on another quad to see if that works.

Josh, you certainly missed that camera angle is adjustable. You can put it in like freaking 60 degrees upwards. Also Mobula 7 is great for 2S Acro as well. I'm curious why you can't make it. By the way very nice performance in stabilized model. Betaflight kinda suck in stabilized modes, however your demonstration was great. Features packed in this whoop are veery nice. Good micro camera with adjustable angle, SmartAudio VTX (!), buzzer, LEDs, current sensor (!), choice between flying with 1S and 2S batteries. Well done!
First thing out of the box, I updated the firmware successfully (to CrazebeeF3 DX since I have the DSMX version), but now whenever I plug it back in, the LED turn on solid and Betaflight cannot communicate with it anymore.
Great review. After seeing a few videos of this quad I ordered one 3 weeks ago. Cant wait for it to be shipped Nov 25th supposedly. Looks like a solid whoop for the price with the other competitors. Keep up the good work!
Does the Mobula 7 have a ufl socket for its vtx out of the box? I'm not upgrading the fpv camera, just the antenna. Will a Lumenier Axiis Micro ufl antenna go in a Mobula 7's standard vtx? I'm planning to fit one inside when my quad gets here, and hopefully i won't have to solder anything for an antenna upgrade.
I ended up buying both the tinymax and the mobulus. I'm still waiting on this one...arghhh..banggood shipping takes forever! My EMAX experience..definitely not even close to a micro quad. It's much slower, I knew the battery was failing when the video got sloppy. Flight times are not fantastic, but then I only ran it down to 3.3 and not 3.0 like Josh. Acro...forget it. Range..good. Video..avg. I have to say with HV charge, the first 30 seconds are fantastic...err that's what she said..couldnt pass that one up. I was also running my babayhawk R. First time I powered that up after flying the tiny hawk, I almost lost it in the stratosphere. There's literally no comparison to even a proper 3". I would not recommend the tinyhawk for anything other than a beginner or for indoor snow days running with the dogs. Looking forward to trying this one out after seeing Stu giggle over it. Josh is much more subdued about the mobulus.
yes, I had the same experience. After flying the tiny hawk for a about 5-6 packs back to back, when I switched to Hawk 5, I punched out to the moon when all I wanted to do was get airborne lightly and hover.
Awesome. Thanks Dude. Questions still lingering though: 1) what's your subjective eval of the Mobula on 1s? And 2) a little more objectively, how does it compare on 1s to the TinyHawk?
Hi Josua, after watching your video I have a couple questions that would much appreciate if you can answer them: 1. I have checked with a friend of mine that 450 mah batteries don't fit correctly in the 3D printed square that comes with the drone for placing the batteries. So you have any idea of how to placed them in the quad when flying with more than 250 mah batteries? 2. Would you recommend a UV glue for repairing the frame broken parts of the quad when crashing? Thanks in advance for your answer
My mobula's camera just crapped on me.. It is very bad signal and once i think it's fixed the signal craps out while the vtx/osd keeps working. I tried looking if there's something loose because if i squeeze the AIO-unit together from the sides it gets its signal back. Now i'm at the point where i need to squeeze to receive a signal at all. I tried looking what's wrong but the solders seem fine, seems like an issue between the 2 boards (camera/vtx) where they bridge together or something. there's a black bridge on the side and applying pressure on gets the signal back, very odd. pictured here ( racedayquads.com/collections/video-transmitters-vtxs/products/mobula7-hcf7-aio-camera-vtx-by-happymodel ) I just ordered a new unit but i'm pretty sad about it having the quad brand new already something wrong.. I might just keep it but i tried applying force while using glue to try and make the bridge keep tension but no luck. I hope the new unit is better or i need a new canopy to try another model/brand, but it needs to fit the mobula frame, any tips? Otherwise, can somebody link a nice canopy that fits?
If you have a controller with EU firmware, it will not bind to a receiver with non-EU firmware. You can flash firmware to change the region but it's easier to just buy the correct region to begin with.
So I’m sorry, I’m new to all this.. very interested in buying and starting up. How in the heck can you see where this thing is flying? Around houses and through trees? Do you where like goggles or something or watching on a mini screen?
I wonder jb, did you fly yours with airmode off in your initial flight? I got no propwash out of mine and I can dive and split s with it and it just takes it. I saw yours sputter a little over the driveway and a couple other times, and there's time you are on camera talking about a small amount of propwash that I don't notice, but I can't see/feel propwash out of mine. I also didn't get a 2.0 with mine to short it and make it 1s. Mine was out of the first batch ever made so maybe it has a different tune on it though????

Love to see you Try the Beta 75x to the Mobula.
Yakshemash! It's coming!
If anyone can tune out the 75x yaw washout it's you Bardwell!
Would like to see.. whos the king of 2's whoop of 2018.. 🤔
Im just glad JB showed that this mob 7 has washout too, on some groups it has god like status. Yes I have a 65 and 75x and was going to grab one of these before watching this video.
I was waiting for your review before I pulled the trigger, thanks.happy thanksgiving!
This is video I’ve been waiting for.
Your DVR are so clear than mine! Have you changed the onboard camera ?What kind of goggle you use in this video, thanks.
I just got mine and found you can access the bind button as long as it's well lit
Disabling motor stop keeps the props spinning but the PID loop has little authority and the quad tumbles.
Frequent Flyer RC q
@@JoshuaBardwell makes it tumble?? You mean do a death roll? If so, I have only ever saw 1 Whoop do a death roll and that was the Tinyhawk and it was the MCU lockup thing happening..
Is it possible to fly this with FlySky, in particular, the Turnigy Evolution?
Thinking of newbies that want to get into the hobby and fly acro, freestyle, racing: do you think learning on Mobus7 and Tinyhawk is a good option vs just bashing up 5” quads? In other words is it easier to go from the little quad to the bigger quads? Most of your comments seem to be about going from the 5” to the minis and how they’re lacking performance.
not sure what has changed with the lights but white balance looks on point in this video
Honestly, nothing has changed 😮
Joshua Bardwell well maybe my eyes are playing me. Cheers :)
Nice review Joshua! I think that now you really need to review the beta75x..
It's coming...
Joshua Bardwell well sang dude, how can you call yourself a know it all if you don't know how to do a spektrum box?! lol!
Can you please do a review on the emax tinyhawk s. The 2s one.
You can split S over trees with the Mobula7 no problem. I do it all the time 😁. Nice vid!
Seems thas he has a slower one
No affiliate link to a better aio camera? I keep my wires under the camera to protect it from shorting anything out. Also I always use a cheap low voltage alarm with that charger.
My Rapidfire does that screen roll at 12:35 w my BabyHawk R....annoying. Had to go Legacy Mode with it.
Unfortunately that's the only fix :-(
Joshua Bardwell Interestingly enough...it only started doing that AFTER I unlocked the vtx
What rx antenna do you need for the Mobula 7? I'm guessing it's 5.8ghz. I have a rhcp antenna on my goggles but not sure if I would need a dipole. Cheers Joshua, keep up the good work. I learn something every day!
The Mobula comes with a linear antenna. Basically you can use any 5 GHz receiver antenna and jt will work okay.
Should try the beta75x aswell , f4 and 200mw
Hey. What batteries do you recommend for the mobula7. im guessing you would need a few for it. thanks in advance
Nice review!. I think a little throttle expo might also help make it more manageable indoors.
So is the Mobula 7 compatible now with BF Configurator 10.6.0?
Hello Joshua! Will you make a review of the new BetaFPV 65x 2s? I'm not sure about buying one ;). Would be awesome!
Noticed you are running "quad blades" In your opinion what is the better overall option, quad or tri-blade?
Nice review! Hope you and your family and your Pup Pup have a great Thanksgiving Josh! 🙏
Do you think you could help?
th-cam.com/video/uVEiSR9QgT8/w-d-xo.html
Or do you know anyone that could help?
So is the orange mobula an newer version with the escs being upgraded to BBC?
Great review! I am still amazed that NO ONE is talking about the tinyhawk problem that when it crashes motors just go full speed unless you disarm it! This happens with no other of my whoops and it is frustrating... havent really been able to enjoy the tinyhawk so much due to this... and yes other folks are having the same problem, but not everyone... Put an EMAX ticket about two weeks ago, they've yet to respond! SAVE YOUR MONEY and headaches! and go with MOBULA 7!
nik Lazz cause that doesn’t happen for us lol sorry about yours
That hasn't happened to me.
Because you are a dope and forgot that airmode is set on all your flight modes? Smh
@@SmoothCruizer37 this comes default from factory, instructions for a NOOB like me actually count! didn't know that I had to switch Airmode off when it SAYS it NOWHERE taht I should. On another note, on my UR65 and US65 Airmode is enabled and this doesnt happen. Regardless, I will take a look at this and check it out. Thanks for the feedback
forgive me if i missed it but does this whoop have any type of lost drone alarm or beeper ???
Still want to know what it’s like on those 450 1s indoors... mine is in transit!!! Thanks for showing what it does in tight spaces, too!!!!👍🏼😎
12:39 how do you fix that?????? I have this problem on my snapper 7 and its stopping me from flying it.
Put your RapidFire in mode 2 or Legacy mode.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks it sorted it right out!!
Would this drone work with the tinyhawk 2 goggles and controller..?
So I really want this whoop, but if I want to upgrade the aio camera, which camera should I buy? (This is not a specific questions for Joshua)
Thanks, Josh! Happy Mantis 85 is as good or better! Have you done a review on this one?
Working in it.
GPS ??
What are some good components if you wanted to build your own "whoop" seems like everyone is focusing on these rtf
Hi i locking for a indoor is HappyModel Mobula7 best or the new Mobula7 HD for indoor flight in a smaller place best regards mille
Hey Joshua, thanks kindly for the review.
Mine is still enroute, and i wondered if the camera can be easily replaced, and what might fit? I was thinking to try a falcor micro? please let me know if you think the foxeer micro chassis might fit, or if not, if in your opinion i have any other options
Sir jb can you do a stress test to the board of a mobula7? Thanks..
Well done!
Would it be good to fly in a pretty small space like a small apartment or would a brushed micro be better?
Brushed would be better for a beginner.
First thing out of the box, I updated the firmware successfully (to CrazebeeF3 DX since I have the DSMX version), but now whenever I plug it back in, the LED turn on solid and Betaflight cannot communicate with it anymore.
I think you flashed the incorrect firmware target to the FC. Did you do a config dump first? It will show the correct target in it at the beginning.
Hey JB. What output power is the vtx?
Great review. After seeing a few videos of this quad I ordered one 3 weeks ago. Cant wait for it to be shipped Nov 25th supposedly. Looks like a solid whoop for the price with the other competitors. Keep up the good work!
Is the mobula 7 still a good buy in 2021? Especially since it's still F3
I got a fatshark 101 kit. Can I bind this to the radio that comes with that?
My positive battery pad ripped off. Is there another pad I could pump battery voltage through?
As always Joshua, great review. I decided to just get both the Tiny Hawk and the Mobulus. Happy Thanksgiving sir.
Could you affix a little piece of tint in front of the camera?
InFrontOfYourBack1 AndyRC did some really good comparrison of whoop style comparing mob7 EMaxBBH and UK65 . Really good in depth videos
yes, I had the same experience. After flying the tiny hawk for a about 5-6 packs back to back, when I switched to Hawk 5, I punched out to the moon when all I wanted to do was get airborne lightly and hover.
for my goggles should i get a left hand or right hand patch antenna?
Awesome. Thanks Dude. Questions still lingering though: 1) what's your subjective eval of the Mobula on 1s? And 2) a little more objectively, how does it compare on 1s to the TinyHawk?
On 1s it's okay but you would be better with a lighter whoop if indoor 1s is your true focus.
@@JoshuaBardwell To run it on 1s you have to build a male x male ph2 connector correct?
Nick Cook they now ship with the connector I love my m7!
brand new flyer here - what 1s batteries should I get with the Mobula to learn on? Will the charger that comes with the Mobule 7 work with the 1s too?
The Tiny Whoop batteries are very good. Newbeedrone packs are also good. Yes, the charger that comes with the Mobula charges 1S packs.
Hi Josua, after watching your video I have a couple questions that would much appreciate if you can answer them:
Joshua... why is the NBD Acrobee not a "legitimate" whoop? And wait until the BeeBrain Lite comes out... even for an intermediate like me, it RIPS!
Tiny Whoop is actually a trademark and only Jesse Perkins sells actual tiny whoops. But nobody really cares.
Great review josh. I think I have this on my Christmas list now. Lol. Thank you buddy
Question Sir...
In the OSD, what is the horx bar at the top representing and is it useful? THX!
Horx?
Horizontal was what I meant
@@leffler2 It's from the Rapidfire module...its the indicator of signal strength to each antenna for diversity
What should the low volt be set at for the mobula if charged to 4.35v
You have the best house for cruising around!
Thanks, I also was very interested in this comparison.
I tried looking what's wrong but the solders seem fine, seems like an issue between the 2 boards (camera/vtx) where they bridge together or something.
there's a black bridge on the side and applying pressure on gets the signal back, very odd.
pictured here ( racedayquads.com/collections/video-transmitters-vtxs/products/mobula7-hcf7-aio-camera-vtx-by-happymodel )
I just ordered a new unit but i'm pretty sad about it having the quad brand new already something wrong..
Is there any difference in quality on 7 and 7HD version in DVR ?
The propswash you had before or after enable air mode?
Maybe you could try the brotherhobby 0804 for acro?
Nice review and flight demo. Looks like some issues need to be worked out on these 2S Micros such as a stiffer frame ;-) Happy Whooping!
For frsky receiver, there are eu-lbt vs non eu version. What is difference and is it ok to buy any of these?
If you have a controller with EU firmware, it will not bind to a receiver with non-EU firmware. You can flash firmware to change the region but it's easier to just buy the correct region to begin with.
So I’m sorry, I’m new to all this.. very interested in buying and starting up. How in the heck can you see where this thing is flying? Around houses and through trees? Do you where like goggles or something or watching on a mini screen?
It has a camera in board and you wear goggles.
Ohh ok. Thanks
I had airmode on for all flights you see.
Hello JB,
I'm looking for a nice little drone. Would you recommend the eachine lizard95?
No, not at all. There have been recent quality issues with it.
