A bit of hotglue or silicone sealant (RTV) at the base of the ELRS antenna to "strain relieve" it a bit, helps to protect it without adding much weight
Hey @JoshuaBardwell the 12A AIO does in fact have issues burning. The test unit I sent you did in fact smoke itself but BetaFPV sent a replacement. The new Pico has a 20A AIO but they did not send it as a replacement. Make sure you get the newer version if considering the Pico.
The problem is flywoo envisioned a frame to allow the naked to sit so prop flow would cool it - I want to make sure to get a frame optimized for that cooling feature before I get the naked.
Same as these two mention here... You just can't make an 80ish mm quad any lighter than these two. Then, you add the heavy 03 to it and it is what it is - a flying barge, bloated cow, or Big Mac devouring T-rump! LOL 😮😢 This size, in all reality, is too small to really carry such a heavy VTX & camera. Sure, they did it, but both are fragile and top heavy and over weight. A compromise. But, people will buy them, smash the F out of them, and rebuild ... It's what FPV is! 😜 It doesn't mean these will ever really fly good. 🤷💯
for boards with those copper wire antennas. I try to run it to one of the board screws, sandwiched in between the gummies from the FC and VTX like HDzero. I know it might not be the best for range but I only do this for whoops and other small stuff where I'm not flying far anyways.

@Joshua Bardwell I was assisting someone with setting this up. The USB wasn't detected on the computer to convert to a COM port. I believe the issue may be that the USB cable lacks data transfer capability. The impulseRC_driver wasn't detected by the flight controller. I think I need to buy a USB-mini cable with data capability. Let me know if there's anything else that needs to be looked into.
ive been waiting for this day. whoops with the 03. this is going to be fun. i just ordered the cinnebot 30 03 and the goggles 2. cant wait thanks for the video josh. btw i also ordered the zoro els
With the flywoo ultra naked o3, flywoo 03 adapter plate, and a newbee drone adapter plate, the mobula8 drops into the sub 100g drone with the battery included. Mine came out to 68g (no battery)
I think this quad is great for just leisure flying either indoors or outdoor, but for cinematic shots I would rather go with the Cinelog20. Same O3 Air unit, 2 inch props, but much more durable, better frame and 4s batteries. Still a great review, thank you JB :)
Hi there fellow flyers! 🛸 Could someone help with my quandary? I have an analogue mob 8. The board is ELRS X12 pro v1.1. I also have a vista nebula unit. I’d like to replace the analogue camera with the vista - however, the wiring diagram for the board shows 5v outputs - whereas the vista requires minimum 7.4v. Is it possible to do this somehow? Any suggestions most welcome! And thanks for all your brilliant content Mr Bardwell! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As long as you set it to fully manual and use 10bit colors with a bit of corrective grading, the O3 performs really well and delivers strong video. Auto exposure and it's overcontrasty bias is just horrible. It's a bit of pain, but a pain worth it for having sub 250g quads recording 4k120 on an SD-Card. I did some amazing shots with my new Tiny Trainer O3 and AOS Cine25 without having to deal with strong regulations. Love it. For freestyling and fun I'll stick to my low-latency feeds, but for delivering footage... the O3 is a perfect little tool. I hope we get the Air3 Sensor in the O4 :)
Slightly off-topic question, but that plug that goes from the 03 air unit where the harness attaches to the board. What would I do if I broke one of those off the board? Do I need to solder all of those little Pinz back on? Can I use electrical conductive glue? Or can the plastic harness itself just be glued down and is that enough to make contact with the Pins?
I added hot glue to the base of that RX wire after my first one came with it broken off before it even was taken out of the box. I also then run it turning around the rubber column and under the bridge frame. I put another dab of hot glue holding to to frame and then pinched the end up verticle in front of the frame bridge. I also added 4 little hot glue feet mounds to the frame the batter sits in. Makes landing it not damage the frame or batter and if your hot glue feet wear down you can scrape the worn foot off with fingernail and replace with another.
I honestly fully agree with happy model making solid FCs nowadays at least when it comes to AiO. i’ve had like 4-5 over the last two years and the newer ones seem to really outlast earlier ones durability wise. that said i use them on fairly light analog whoop builds so i can’t speak to how well they’ll handle the weight of a digital vtx over an extended period. i wouldn’t be shocked if the ESCs wear out a lot sooner
Would love to see you fly the analogue version of the mob8 your thoroughness would be refreshing. Also information of other beta flight modes worth adding ? Great as always.

Really great video, as usual. I'm having a hard time deciding between the Mobula8 and the Pavo Pico. How's the noise of this one compare? And would a larger battery (850mah) be viable for either of them for longer flight times? Durability is what's making the Mobula8 attractive. Noise level, vibration dampening, and props not-in-view are what make the Pico attractive. Appreciate any feedback on this dilemma. I'm looking for something unintimidating and reliable, only considering the O3 versions.
I just got the mob8 with the o3. Didnt find the right size batterys. Flying it with 650mah 75c tattu r. Battery drains so fast, like if i go full throttle the o3 shutts off in couple of seconds. Im a newbie to this hobby. Is the battery the problmes here or what else can it be? All the batterys are new.

(Have you checked shingles etc?)
Great review - nice little bird if I needed another ;-)... Never understood why Betaflight couldn't implement a "save your configuration/translate it to the new firmware/reinstall the configuration" method.
@@JoshuaBardwell ty Josh I'ma get it cause I already invested to much in this avata explorer package don't Wana get something not compatible with the goggles 2 great advice and saved me money ty
I have the HDZERO version and it rips! On thing tho. The model match on mine would not update on the FC when I turned it on and off at the radio, whether the quad was powered or not. There is a model match check box on a tab under the ELRS page that pops up when you have your quad in wifi mode. I learned that from one of the guys on the ELRS discord.
All new guys think flight time is important. I'm an 8 year vet of FPV and I'm hear to tell you that you're looking at things from the wrong perspective. 🤔 If you buy DJI video drones, like the Mavic, etc. Then, flight time is the main objective. Those use huge batteries that cost $100 each. But, in FPV we fly for performance. By adding the additional weight it takes to get 5+ minute flight times, that significantly alters flight performance... Our main objective! So, our batteries are relatively cheap, especially in 2S (2 cell) quads like this. Typically, under $10 each. Because our goal is great performance and the extra weight to carry a bigger battery significantly deteriorates performance, we use the lightest batteries possible and buy more batteries. You can get 10 batteries for that $100 it costs for one Mavic battery! When we get 3 minutes flight time we are happy! ... We then land, take off used battery and switch to new fully charged battery, and in seconds we are in the air again! If you compromise and use a heavier battery you lessen performance because the quad is significantly more heavy. On these smallest of quads, whoops, even 2 grams additional weight is significant and changes flight performance. Hence, why we have more, lighter batteries and switch them out quick, than have heavier batteries. You can obviously do what you want, but as soon as you try using the lighter batteries you'll never go back to the heavy ones! Performance simply suffers too damn much! So, I suggest you change your main parameter of "flight time" ... To how "lightweight" can I get this quad. The lighter you make it, the better you'll love it! It'll RIP!😜 This is why, for me, I'd don't care about 4K video. It just sits on my hard drive and never gets watched again! Waste of time for me. So, I suggest people buying the analog version of this whoop, that JB showed in the video, without the DJI 03. Then, put a Naked Vista on it instead of the 03. It'll save about 25 grams! Remember, 2g savings is significant on whoops! So, 25g is Major! Flight performance, and flight time, both will go way, Way, WAY UP! We go from 80g without a battery to around 55g with Naked Vista! Still get DJI crystal clear video, great range, great penetration, just no 4k. But, it'll fly soooooooooo much better, be so much more nimble, quicker to react, and very freestyle capable! Because it weighs so much less, it damages itself much less because that less weight translates to less damage in crashes - less inertia! 👍 So, bottom line, think weight, not flight time. No worries... All new guys think flight time is of Major importance. If it still is, buy a Mavic. If you wanna RIP! Think low weight! 🤔🧐😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1yes, but i dont care much about performance, i like to place 2 hawkeye thumb 4k cam for my stereo 3d work, only for very slow, relaxing videos.
Barebone Walksnail VTX lite they install is extremely fragile, mine just stopped working after a day after I got the drone. No major crashes as I used it in my patio only. I had so hard crashes with moonlight kit and the pro kit, but lite one really sucks, and HappyModel refuses to take any responsibility or warranty on that.
It's already so fragile, making the 03 naked will surely cause some people to really bust this up, costing lots of money to repair! Nah, I'd rather have the huge weight savings of the Naked Vista! It will still give us crystal clear flying, great range, awesome penetration, but save a ton of weight! I could care less about the 4K video I'd take just to clog up my hard drive, never viewing it again. Lol Waste of time for me. This would fly sooooo much better at around 55g vs 80 it's at now. We'd get great flight times outta that same lipo JB barely got 2 minutes from. Sometimes we just need to face facts. This is really, truly, too small of a craft to carry such a heavy VTX. Sure, they did it, but that doesn't mean it's great ... It's just Yeh! Shaving off approx. 25 grams could definitely make it great! And, we don't lose much! 🤔🧐👍
Joshua I have the analog PNP Mobula8. It has the v1.1 X12 AiO FC with an open VTX in-built to the FC. I see 2 available UARTS in BF configurator. UART 1 is for Serial. UART 2 is for TBS Smartaudio. Is there another UART available on the FC? Someone on FB said there is. I asked them to explain where the UART is, but they haven’t replied back yet. I want to add a nano GPS module so I can use GPS Rescue. I’m considering re-purposing UART 2 for the GPS module and just running the VTX at full power all the time. But then there is the wait to get a GPS lock while the VTX is blazing away and burning thru the battery… kind of a dilemma. Thoughts?
Hello ,the analog Mobula8 with a F411 chip flight controller , so there is only 2 sets of uart, that means you can't add GPS module if you used both uart1 and uart2 .
Hello! I had the same problem with "Model Match" on Speedy Bee Master 5 V2. It has HappyModel ELRS. But I just turned off "Model Match" on SpeedyBee" and It fixed my problem. Is it a good solution?
I love mine. Just made a little edit with it ;) Flies great for its size and weight - not a freestyle machine.. Doesn't stress people out. I use the red GNB 550 HV batteries, which fit perfect. 3.5 minutes of lively flight. I didnt need to, but I put Betaflight 4.4 on, no problem. Grabbed the CLI dump from the Happymodel site and it copied over fine. I use the flywoo ND filter set (cheapest to be found), which included a clear filter so the lens is always protected. Need to replace the o3 antennas with micro vees. Its really hard to keep them out of the props, even with a cable tie stand-off and the micro vees are tougher. With Bluejay you can make the motors beep a little louder - but dont go crazy, 10% extra is fine. Waiting on some 5 blade props (gemfan d51) to make it even quieter.
Honestly for freestyle you’ll need the 550mah batteries instead of 450. I was using the 450 at first but when I switched to 550 it made a big difference in the performance.
Yeah, but that'll just make this flying barge even heavier! What's the answer then? Not to try putting such a heavy VTX on such a small whoop! Sure, they've done it... It flies ok, but that doesn't mean it really, truly, isn't great carrying all that heft! For us that don't care one bit about the 4K video that I'd take with this and then it would sit on my hard drive, never to be watched again! ... lol ... I'd prefer it with a Naked Vista! It'd weigh somewhere around 55 grams + or -. But we'd still get awesome crystal clear video on our flights and reap the H U G E benefits of a whoop that weighs about 30% less! It would fly awesome! 😎🤘
I Have a Request Joshua, Can you maybe make a playlist with like these types of drones that are small and use like DJI 03 Air Units, even for possible ones in the future that you may review?
Antenna is great! If it breaks you only need solder on a piece of wire to fix. Ufl connectors are fragile and are easily destroyed. Fix for them is no easy!
Can I get this and just use it with my dji goggles 3 and remote 3? I saw a post that the air unit has an update to support these... Im new but Im looking for a cheap drone that can be used with those goggles and controller so I can practice with it instead of the avatar 2 since I already used a dji refresh on it xD :')

It'll RIP!😜
This is why, for me, I'd don't care about 4K video.
So, bottom line, think weight, not flight time. No worries... All new guys think flight time is of Major importance. If it still is, buy a Mavic. If you wanna RIP! Think low weight! 🤔🧐😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 sorry, i am not a new guy, i fly since 2011 when dji was nowhere.
@@relaxvideo3d Then, sorry back to you, you should know weight is king with whoops. Larger batteries just mess with performance.
@@KOrnhOliO1yes, but i dont care much about performance, i like to place 2 hawkeye thumb 4k cam for my stereo 3d work, only for very slow, relaxing videos.
what is the flight time?
Hello! Can you use the DJI controller instead of an expresslrs one?
Yes
Barebone Walksnail VTX lite they install is extremely fragile, mine just stopped working after a day after I got the drone. No major crashes as I used it in my patio only. I had so hard crashes with moonlight kit and the pro kit, but lite one really sucks, and HappyModel refuses to take any responsibility or warranty on that.
Now this would probably fly quite a bit better and longer if you modify the O3 AU with the flywoo naked kit for it. Maybe worth a test?
The GNB 530 2s fit the Mob 8 perfectly.
I purchased it and love it!! DJI 03.
I can’t wait to see you review the acrobee03 on that 75mm frame and compare.
Wow .... thats pretty cool
Does this machine come with VR glasses?
😂
I just looked up the weight of the mobula 8 Versions.
The O3 is 80g and the Walksnail is 48g.
That's an insane difference.
Can you bind it to the DJI transmitter?
The v2 gray controller yes.
Wonder why PICO decided against binding to the V2 controller?
Can a Vista fit in there? There appears to be 20x20 mounting
With the lite kit they give you the mounting screws for a vista
Can o use this with any googles?
That thing would be perfect with the Flywoo Naked O3 Lite\Ultra Air unit!
It'll be as fragile as glass! Lol ...
And costs a bundle to repair at first crash. 😢
Awesome review Jb . 🙌
@@happymodelCN can I repurpose UART 2 for the GPS? I understand that I would not be able to communicate with the VTX after this change is made.
@@IAmTheCraftsman Yes , that would be working.
I need this in my life so badly
:47 - BetaFPV Mobula 7? The HappyModel Mobula 7 I have is junk but absolutely Love my BetaFPV Meteor75
Hello! I had the same problem with "Model Match" on Speedy Bee Master 5 V2. It has HappyModel ELRS. But I just turned off "Model Match" on SpeedyBee" and It fixed my problem. Is it a good solution?
If it worked for you that's all that matters.
@@JoshuaBardwellthanks!
I love mine. Just made a little edit with it ;)
Flies great for its size and weight - not a freestyle machine..
That's some great Info 👍
have tried the quieter props. Big difference in volume! But the prop wash is a little more prominent if you don't nail it.
Buy this or the Pavo Pico (34g) but get the Flywoo Naked O3 Ultra Air unit (18g). (The Pavo Pico gets reduced from 71g to 53g).
Absolutely happy with Happymodel's SPI-receiver. It's great with today's betaflight firmware. So I have free uart needed.
I've had it in my cart for a week. Still undecided, but very tempted.
Nice piloting
Can I get this and just use it with my dji goggles 3 and remote 3? I saw a post that the air unit has an update to support these... Im new but Im looking for a cheap drone that can be used with those goggles and controller so I can practice with it instead of the avatar 2 since I already used a dji refresh on it xD :')
Yes you can.
