    • @tappersreviews4677
      @tappersreviews4677 ปีที่แล้ว +270

      Hall effect sticks would've been a real game changer since they literally cannot develop drift issues. Replaceable sticks is just a way to get people to keep paying for something that could've and should've been fixed.

    • @tappersreviews4677
      @tappersreviews4677 ปีที่แล้ว +224

      @L_O_W_K_E_Y-G Legit criticism is not "crying." This controller has some real inadequacies i.e. literally 50% less battery capacity, no hall sticks, only 2 paddles etc. Telling me the sky is blue is inconsequential to pointing out these flaws.

      @@tappersreviews4677 I agree with you. I bought the last of us 2 ps4 controller and it had a scratch on it so I returned it for a new one. That new one also had a scratch in it but I was done at that point to return it. Unfortunately This new controller had drift right out of the box and it’s just crazy how this was the case. I have been through 8 ps4 controllers because of drift and this to me is insane because these controllers aren’t cheap. It made me so frustrated that I just moved away from console to pc gaming. The Gulikit King Kong pro 2 is a controller that has magnetic potentiometers/ joysticks that have zero drift and Sony would never move to this type of technology because they want their controllers to break so that you can buy a brand new one that would eventually develop drift again. It is truly sickening.

  • @benavid1

    Thank you for mentioning that it fits in the original Dualsense charging dock. Not enough other videos on it mention that.

  • @Xcessive_Evil

    I've only had mine for a few days. Even though I've not delved too deep into customization like stick sensitivity (yet), I absolutely love it. It looks great and feels even better. I feel I more control than I do with the standard which tend to feel slippery. But the biggest selling point for me is that it takes less than a minute to swap out the sticks. Anyone that has experienced stick drift knows your controller is pretty much a paperweight now. That is no longer the case.
    8-10 hours of battery life is perfectly fine with me. I do not get to sit and run for that long in one setting anyway. I can easily sit it on my charging dock when I'm away. Even those who can sit for that long. the cord is SUPER long. This is a beautiful design that does make you think given the price tag. But in a relatively short amount of time, it's paying for itself and then some.

    I got this controller, and it is so good. It has excellent tactile feel to all buttons, and metal paddles fit my hand really well. The one item which surprised me most was the R2, L2 trigger limiters. It makes the response clearly faster. I use middle position, somehow it is most ergonomic for me.

  • @Im_Blitz
    @Im_Blitz ปีที่แล้ว +452

    A good point to highlight about the stick modules is they're interchangeable, so you don't have to buy a replacement module for your FIRST exchange. If you're experiencing stick drift on the right stick, you can swap it with the left stick. Most FPS gamers WON'T experience drift on the left stick FIRST due to less wear, so swapping them after you first experience drift on the right stick might save you $20.
    Additionally, if you start to experience sprinting issues in games like CoD, you can try customizing the left stick settings to fix it. The sensitivity curve & deadzone can help.

    • @Chr15Payne
      @Chr15Payne ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yup when CoD allowed me to adjust my dead zones in game I was able to overcome the movement issues I was experiencing by reducing the outer limit, no new controller necessary. This having all those settings at system level means the lifespan of the sticks can be stretched that much longer before needing replacement.

    • @Whatdapak
      @Whatdapak ปีที่แล้ว +8

    • @Im_Blitz
      @Im_Blitz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Whatdapak A lot of games let you increase the deadzone in-game. Increasing the left stick deadzone percentage should help. If it's THAT bad, it might need to be well over 10%. Your left stick input threshold will be less responsive, but at least there won't be idle drift.

    One improvement I've noticed that the Edge has over the Dualsense is that the area where you rest your pinky has been rounded compared to being more angular/pointy on the original controller. I've seen a few people complain about that on the Dualsense because it would jab into your fingers causing fatigue over time

    - Talked about the back buttons how they are magnetically attached and how easily they can be swapped out of removed ( I love this by the way)
    - You should also mention that sony and other companies do not currently sell replacement thumbsticks (they only sell the complete analogue module for £20 which comes with only a default ps thumbstick that we are used to on normal dual sense controllers.)
    These are what I think could be the final bits of info for anyone contemplating spending half the price of a ps5 for a controller.

      I think the reason why people are frustrated is because like everything, batteries are consumable parts. The more charging cycles you put them through, the shorter every charge is going to be. Right now your five hour gaming session is fine on a brand new battery. But in six months when you have charged your battery every single time you play you’re going to notice the issues with the battery. And for a $200 controller, it seems like an oversight. By comparison, the Xbox elite controller, has a 40 hour battery life. Which means per gaming session, it will undergo less charge cycles than this controller. Which means the battery will last longer.
      I mean on the regular dual sense controller that I have had for about a year now, it only lasts about seven hours. And that’s with all the extra features turned off. When I had them on, I could barely get 4. Compared to launch, that’s a big drop off

    I'm surprised that Sony didn't call the backpaddles buttons L4 and R4 instead of LB and RB which sounds to me just like the word "button". Not trying to nitpick, it just seems like a better way of identifying them to me. Also, the charging cord lock is probably the best addition to a controller besides both having replaceable analog sticks and a removable cover for said sticks (would still prefer removable hall effect sticks along with the housing case but that's just me), since I can't count how many times I've ruined charging cords by cords being yanked out of my controller(s) by me or other outside factors. The lock should be a universal addition to more then just the dualsense edge if it works like it's intended to.

    The battery is only 1050mah, which is basically 2/3 of the regular Dualsense battery's ~1560mah. No problem for me since I play wired half the time anyway. It's definitely worth it because of the swappable thumbsticks (one went crazy on my Dualsense a few weeks ago), the triggers and back paddles, and all of the customizable options. I pre-ordered mine with one extra thumbstick and got them today. Tiny bit of drift out of the box. You can see a bit of blue at the bottom of the deadzone graph and you just adjust until you can't see it. Being able to pull the sticks off makes putting a precision ring on easy. Just played a bit of CoD and it works great.

Of course it's expensive, but already owning an AIM ps5 controller, I must say the difference in features is overwhelming in favor of the PS5. The FN buttons do feel like a bit of overkill. They're super nice, but since you can also remap and save up profiles in the PS5 I'd rather have and extra two back-buttons to support all 'right thumb' buttons. As far as the pricing goes, you'd have to compare them within other controllers in the same segment. Looking from that perspective they're not expensive at all. In fact, gaming is a really inexpensive hobby when you think of it. Think about for how many hours you'll be using a controller like this.. All in all, great stuff.

    While I appreciate the fact that they're thinking about stick drift for the player, the easiest way to get around it would be you use a hall effect sensor, I've had to send my Elite series 2 back under warranty for drift and after hearing that what I would get back was a refurbished one and not mine but fixed, that to me was a big question mark as I take great care of my stuff and it still failed, I bought a Gulikit Kingkong 2 and tbh, other than the lack of back paddles and it's lower 100hz polling rate which sometimes bothered me at the start it's great, after seeing this controller, I'm just disappointed that rather than fixing the cause of the issue, they designed an entire hot swap system so they could still find a way to sell you something, elite seems to still have some advantages despite probably being due a refresh such as better hair triggers and in my opinion more versatile rear paddle set up but I could have been persuaded to over look it if Sony did something ground breaking, just feeling like more of the same unfortunately.

      ha , that seems suspect asf i would annotate all the serial numbers of any electronic device you purchase in case of something like this , wanted to send my controller from sony over but heard they were having issues like this as well so i just kept it and switched it off w a best buy controller

      @@ron6505 luckily when you're doing the return process on a xbox product it registers to your account when you first use it even on pc because of native support, they ask you to confirm the serial number as well when booking it in but there's lots of red tape, don't send any accessories as they're unlikely to be returned, so cases, stick caps and paddles ect, just feels a bit like while I am getting it replaced, I have questions about the condition of what will turn up? Like is it fully refurbished? Just been owned before or is the stick going to let go in 3 month because it's already worn, doesn't help that I'm super picky about things because I build, fix and look after my stuff myself usually, replacement stick for it was only £5 on ebay as well so probably end up doing that sooner than I'd like 😂😂

      @@elysian3623 yeah microsoft return / exchange policy seems a lot better than playstation , playstation doesn’t even have a serial number registrations for devices you’re getting fixed/refurbished , ive seen a reddit thread where a user said he had to send in his ps5 for a minor repair , and in return he got a different ps5 with a different serial number. wish these companies would make the return / exchange policy better for the consumer i would love to see that serial number option for sony products when sending them in for repairs , with shipping covered.

Or do you mean that Sony make you pay to send their defective crap back? 🙃 I keep seeing all the liquid metal leakage issues online now and I just kinda have to laugh at what the Sony engineers were thinking, I've used tons of different thermal pastes over the years and one of the best I've used is like £6 for a 15g tube 😂 I just can't believe that they thought a boundary layer of foam would be a long term fix when it's stuck next to a 200w apu 😅

    it would have been better if you could have 4 paddles on the back but thats down to personal preference .
    being able to change the sticks is a big plus as many ppl have stated but that makes me wonder if they are still using sub standard parts so they know that they can make more money on spares ?.
    is it worth the price , i dont think so as most ppl will not bother with the case and will already have a long usb cable if they play with it plugged in and the lock device to me is something "extra" that will add a bit of extra weight to lever on the port and at the same time the plugged in wire so theres at least imho 2 things that could be removed to cut costs which they have already done with using a smaller battery.
    as for the triggers most ppl use the shoulder buttons for ads and fire as it feels better and is more comfy in the hand.
    at the end of the day is it cheaper than a custom built scuff pad more than likely yes but your paying scuff for your own personal controller and if you plug in the scuff pad (other brands are probably out there) and you still get all the custom options of the new ps pad (which will baffle a lot of ppl and they may not want to spend the time setting it up) then you would have to sit down and have a think as im sure that scuff will or have looked at the ability to change the sticks out and do there version , yes the scuff may cost more but again its a custom build with your own colours so if you take it to a mates house it wont be confused with someone elses pad so your wondering why your pad is now kak handed and all wrong when you get home lol.

    It's a hefty price tag, but the controller will basically last you forever. The completely swappable thumbsticks is the holy grail feature of this controller. This is what wears down most on controllers and the option to completely replace the whole module is absolute perfect. If they wear out, u just get a new module and basically have a new controller...
