This car represents amazing value in its current form. $55k car competing with $70k competitors. It’s older than the new 3 series but newer than the C class. I test drove one 4 years ago when it just came out and the ride and handling were superb. That said I do agree that the power output seems low for a turbo of this size, looks like typical Corolla figures from a mainstream NA small sedan.
Edit: regardless, seems to pull hard at takeoff

@@Incognito-wh4dv You do realise there are people out there who want a comfortable plush sedan with a high quality interior on their commute to a 6 figure job. It’s a decent upgrade from someone who previously would’ve had a midsizer like a Camry. The ride and seats are exceptionally comfortable yet has minimal body roll. Not all of us are hoons, late to our Maccas shift, trying to race someone from a traffic light. Just because YOU cannot afford it doesn’t mean it’s poor value.

Hi , am looking into this car since I had 2020 audi a4 7dsg 163 hp diesel and with this car in drive when cruising my speed would be 150kph in 7th gear on 2000rpm . Am just curious since there is same gearbox in question, would I have similar experience with this same vehicle. I understand it is les hp and torque involved, but if you tested it on highway, what was the speed in 7th gear on 2000rpm?

  • @russell3436

I know the engine has been de-tuned, but when the average consumer sees a modern 2020s car that has a 2.0L turbo engine only produces 110kW that is seriously low and embarrasing, they could’ve removed the turbo altogether or kept the old 1.4L turbo as it basically had the same specs.
I don’t know, paying $60,000 AUD for this car with such abysmal power figures just seems really hard to attract people with so many better entry-level cars out there with better performance figures, I get this is an entry-level base luxury Audi car and a full on sports car, but an A4 35 TFSI S Line should be at least granted 130-140kW.

They can tune these engines to whatever they want, it can be 110kw, it can be 240kw or whatever. Sometimes squeezing the most power isn't the answer, some people want cheaper insurance, better fuel economy and increased reliability. Certainly not for me, but this car is not trying to be a showcase of the ultimate in power per displacement, its just a nice car with adequate power. De-tuned 2 litre turbo engines almost always get better fuel economy in the real world compared to highly strung small displacement engines, it also has the advantage of 270NM between 1300-3900 rpm, that's what the turbo is here for, not massive top end, just good drivability.

That 6.1 L/100km is a combined rating, I'd estimate this car gets 5 L/100km or better Highway and 7 L/100km city. All depends how you drive it.
