About the complaint about batman and penguin interrogation with the drugs. u said u feel like batman wouldnt let the drug deal happen. About the points he says at the end 1. Batman doesn’t care about people, he is an animal, a beast. At that point he is only thinking in Vengance. That’s why the end is more significant, cause he start to realize that he must be something bigger not defined against the crime but towards people. 2. Alfred says it, he wanted to be like a father and he feels he failed. They both have a distant relationship and that’s why we barely see him during the story. Alfred is clearly against this it, but he is not his father. 3. In this early days Batman is nothing more than a force, a beast, we clearly see how uncomfortable he is being Bruce, being in daylight. This movie is about metamorphosis, about identity, about self awareness.

27:17 I loved the score for this film and especially the themes. However, I could *not* shake how close the melody in batman's theme sounds to john william's imperial march. I almost wonder if it was written to sound like the imperial march on purpose to put into viewers heads that this batman is similar to a young adult anakin skywalker. Young, strong, skilled and motivated, but could easily fall down a dark path if not careful. And he almost does fall down a dark path after speaking with falcone (an analogue to palpatine with his political control) if not for alfred (the obi-wan that taught bruce everything he knows) waking up and speaking to him. Whoa! Want to watch it again to see if motifs in this theme change towards the end of the movie when bruce finds himself.
There is a bit of similarities, but I think it was purely coincidental. The notes used for the theme were actually taken from Nirvana’s Something in the way. Which was a huge inspiration to Matt Reeves
@@lydric94 Fun fact, the initial trailer that dropped for The Batman helped "Something in the Way" debut on Billboard’s charts for the first time ever, and throughout the first 4 days of the movie's release, U.S. streams skyrocketed by 734% compared to the prior 4 days (372k on-demand streams to 3.1million). Your first two issues: him watching the drug deal and then not helping the people on the highway. You said it, for most (99% lol) of the movie he’s angry and he’s focused on getting vengeance. It wasn’t until the end when he realized that he was doing things the wrong way. He realized at the end that he needs to change and be a symbol for hope instead of vengeance. Great episode, as always, guys. I really underestimated how great this film would be as DC has had some pretty bad films in the past, I guess so has Marvel but the thing is with DC when they have a good movie it's not just good it's usually brilliant and better than most of the Marvel movies, so when you see a bad one it's kinda disappointing and it personally drags my spirit down to watch one that is bad, it also worries me about the new films like Batman. But anyway, I really enjoyed the characters, especially Dano performance of the riddler as we haven't seen live action adaptation that is quite as good as him. This film also shows Gotham as really grimy and dirty and like the worst place to live ever with some great cinematography and lighting, some of the colour schemes reminded me of something from the comic books which it is, as I watched a review by totallynotmark and he goes into the stuff that this film took from the comic books so I recommend that video if you don't read comic books, because I haven't for years. Anyways, really good episode. This might be one of my personal favourite episodes of yours already. It's definitely up there with the Truman show episode you guys did.
i watched the batman 3 times in 2 weeks. i rewatched the dark knight and in my opinion the batman is better. the dark knight has better pacing and obviously a better villain but the storyline gets murky at times. and the writing can be a bit cheesy AT TIMES but the writing is still very good. that being said, the batman is the better movie..it has a way better storyline, it’s more engaging, and the fight scenes and batmobile introduction were amazing. but like y’all said, we need to give it time and enjoy each one by themselves
This was a really good review and one of the best I’ve seen so far compared to others who have given no evidence to prove why they thought the film was bad
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ Actually wait… Colin Farrell has been in 6 REBOOTS. He was also in “The Beguiled,” the reboot of the Clint Eastwood movie. Damn son! How many reboots is he allowed to be in?!
Tbf, you could nit pick the dark night trilogy all day. None of them are ``Flawless masterpieces``, but in my personal opinion, The batman feels the most like batman from the comics and the animated stuff. Which is why (In my opinion) its the best Live action batman movie to date. Ive always been a bit unsatisfied with the live action Batman movies. They just didnt fully give me what i wanted. Even though i literally grew up on TDK trilogy. It was never as good as the comics or the animated stuff, in terms of being a (Batman movie), and not just a Great movie ``WITH`` batman in it. idk if that made sense. It finally scratched that itch, ive been having for years when it comes to Batman movies. Thats just my opinion, but i respect your opinions too. 😊 PS: Also wanna note that i do Love TDK trilogy. That was literally my first introduction to Live action Batman, but its not flawless
I love this review, I can honestly agree with the cons you you guys mentioned; more voiceover, and more Bruce Wayne would’ve elevated the film for me. Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing a solo batmobile movie after this! Haha jk
I think you’re wrong about Marvel reaching their peak with Infinity War and Endgame. X-Men has always been considered bigger and better than Avengers and the general audience haven’t got a clue how much better it can get. That said The Batman is alongside Logan for my favourite comic book films. TDK was phenomenal but loses points for lack of comic accuracy and it’s not just about being accurate. I just think Batman being a full blown detective is better than what Nolan went for. TDK is still one of my favourite films of all time, it’s only marginally below The Batman for me. Whatever DC have planned for the future, they have something Marvel don’t and that’s a willingness to make more mature content. That’s where Marvel will have to adapt. Having mentioned Wolverine, Marvel have a plethora of characters that warrant a more mature theme. A lot more than DC have. So DC have this opportunity to be unique while Marvel for many will get tiresome. I suspect they’ll adapt though. We already know Deadpool 3 will be R. We’ll see how Moon Knight feels in a couple of weeks.
The Batman is just head and shoulders above Batman Begins as an initial entry into a Batman series, a sentiment that is so clear if you watch them back to back. The Dark Knight is a timeless classic, but Begins is only good in the context of the previous Batman film being Batman and Robin. But back to The Batman, the screenplay is just so much more well-written. Visually, it's miles above any other Batman movie. The world is so much more evocative of the comic book style of classic Batman, while somehow also being even more grounded than Nolan's films. It's very much a noir driven detective story. It's more emotional. The Bat and the Cat stomps anything Nolan did with Batman's love interests. The action scenes, especially compared to Batman Begins are actually legible and exciting. It's more artful, yet also more entertaining. I just can't see what the argument could be to say Batman Begins is better. The Dark Knight? That's another story, but no way in hell is Begins on the same level as this new one.
I didnt like the bruce wayne version of this movie, i liked the batman version and his detective skills But the depressing down bruce wayne bilionaire rol was perfect in the christopher nolan batman trilogie The character development in tbe christopher nolans batman was amazing I liked the ben afleck batman fight skills a lot the way he throws villians and his strength his voice suit and size They should have used christian bale with the strength and suit of ben afleck s batman The detective skills of the robert pattison batman With the music of hans zimmerman
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ and don't get me wrong I'm not judging performance I'm judging plot. Performances are their own beasts were talking plot of a false drug bust so that other people could have a power grab and be more powerful in Gotham, versus an insane doctor pumping chemicals into the water supply 4 weeks to make everybody go crazy while an outside cabal tries to take down the city with him by microwaving water to turn everything into gas.... I mean it's just it's a comic book plot versus a graphic novel plot and I think that the Batman has a much better story that it's telling
Nolan’s Batman was amazing but was more Bruce Wayne’s story and batman wasn’t as interesting as Bruce or his villains, not to mention the voice. I could never understand what Christian Bale says. Matt Reeves feels the most accurate Batman to date.
Apparently!!!! We’re all supposed to have the wealth of infinite knowledge not to Shazam a song we’ve never heard of…. Just joshing ya boyz. when he tased the guy at the beginning, it made him empty the gun
Nice catch!
I’m really hoping the second film deals with the court of owls
i watched the batman 3 times in 2 weeks. i rewatched the dark knight and in my opinion the batman is better. the dark knight has better pacing and obviously a better villain but the storyline gets murky at times. and the writing can be a bit cheesy AT TIMES but the writing is still very good. that being said, the batman is the better movie..it has a way better storyline, it’s more engaging, and the fight scenes and batmobile introduction were amazing. but like y’all said, we need to give it time and enjoy each one by themselves
Great take 🦇🦇
Catwoman was completely pointless and could've been taken out of the film. Would have improved the experience
This was a really good review and one of the best I’ve seen so far compared to others who have given no evidence to prove why they thought the film was bad
Thanks!
Do we not think the serum he injected at the end is the same compound Bane uses, venom I think it's called
Good call!

The Batman is an amazing movie!!
Robert Pattinson bring of being The Batman/Bruce Wayne to the next level!!
🎉❤️👍🥳🎈⭐️🦇🎉
PS: Also wanna note that i do Love TDK trilogy. That was literally my first introduction to Live action Batman, but its not flawless
Respect your opinion 🤝
Love you guys !! Keep it up
Thanks so much!
Oh boy, I'm in for a ride
🦇🦇
I love this review, I can honestly agree with the cons you you guys mentioned; more voiceover, and more Bruce Wayne would’ve elevated the film for me. Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing a solo batmobile movie after this! Haha jk
Thanks!!! 👏
Could've been a Ben Affleck batman prequel Pattinson and Affleck got that chin.
For sure
The Batman Was a great Fantastic film i really really enjoyed it I Can't wait for the sequel in a few years
Same!!
No worries I countered the one star with 5 stars!
You’re the best ☺️🤝
Valid points 🤝
You should watch Batman: The Long Halloween Part one & two
Will do!
I didnt like the bruce wayne version of this movie, i liked the batman version and his detective skills
But the depressing down bruce wayne bilionaire rol was perfect in the christopher nolan batman trilogie
The character development in tbe christopher nolans batman was amazing
I liked the ben afleck batman fight skills a lot the way he throws villians and his strength his voice suit and size
They should have used christian bale with the strength and suit of ben afleck s batman
The detective skills of the robert pattison batman
With the music of hans zimmerman
That's funny I also think Batman begins is super great and is right there with the dark knight

Ya lost me at batman begins being better than the batman. BB is way more flawed than TB, even the plot is more ridiculous in BB. IMO.
🦇🦇 respect your opinion 🤝😎

Drink every time they start talking about random movies with no correlation to the Batman

Apparently!!!! We’re all supposed to have the wealth of infinite knowledge not to Shazam a song we’ve never heard of…. Just joshing ya boyz.
A few tidbits tho, “DC has a brighter future than Marvel?” When will we get to see it!? I’m wanna see it too but DC keeps rebooting every so many years with a new shiny Batman trilogy.
