    Finally I got this problem fixed. It was the Humidity Sensor. I bought a new one for $45 and replaced it by my self. It is located on the windshield on the right of the rear view mirror. Once you replace the old one with the new one, then the Air recirculation button will work at anytime you want.

      is it easy to chang ?

    • @dr.mjd1
      @dr.mjd1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it is. just don't push the bracket's clips so hard so you don't break them.
      but once you take the bracket out, then since you'll never use the old sensor, you can break if you wanna remove it effortlessly.

    It's either humidity sensor located inside the rear view mirror box or the actuator located underneath your glove compartment box

    I have a 2012 300 and it happened to me as soon as the temperature got down into the 40's. Dealer replaced the humidity sensor and it worked better but not perfect. After some testing I discovered that the sensor 'believes' the area around it (behind the rear view mirror) is too humid, so it disables the recirculate function. Yes, its very annoying, especially when you don't want to breath bus fumes or dead skunk. However, I have found if you turn on the Defroster at full fan speed it will clear the humidity from around the sensor in about 30 seconds. Then the recirculate button will come back on and you can use it (until the sensor gets humid again). This is at least more tolerable then not having it work at all. There is no permanent fix...

    The humidity sensor also fixed my 2011 Chrysler 300. Amazing to fix a problem like this in an hour for $60. Thanks everyone who made us aware.

      Everybody says how hard it is to remove the cover, but never show themselves doing it.
      What did you do to remove the cover and the sensor?
      I hear that if you pull the backing off of the windshield, that the entire windshield will need to be replaced.

    noticed this the other morning. I live in California so cold and humidity is not a problem but it does happen from time to time. if your car is doing it in dry warm weather it maybe the humidity sensor on the windshield. good luck

    have same problem. replace the humidity sensors and the problem went away. I used to take my vehicles to a mechanic but I learned these mechanics today going on the old way of fixing thing instead of getting a scanner to diagnose the problem they looking in an outdated old book to fix things and change you a fortune and done nothing that way I brought me an scanner and learn how to read it and fix it myself and I learn that anybody can fix there own vehicles cheap and easy and it common sense and TH-cam got a video for everything’s you can imagine and want cost you a dime to look it up first and then you fix it yourself,

    I have Chrysler 200,2016 . This option is activated only the front window wipers working continuously for , you say, 10 minutes . Then if you press the recirculation button it is just blinking without engagement. Also I learned there is an interaction with the out side temperature. I asked dealer and they said 200 is not equipped with humid sensor. So it has programmed with a combination of temperature and engaging the wipers.

    Same car. Same problem. But its hot here temperatures reach the 90s. I've noticed when it's that hot it won't turn on but when it cools down at night it works fine (sometimes). Hate this. Please tell me you found out how to fix it!!! I'm tired of smelling other people's cigarette smoke and I have my small children in the car.. They don't need this!

      Lyanne Turrubiates I have not done anything with this problem recently. Since we live in Florida and it only happens to me when it's cold I haven't gotten back to dealing with it. My plan is when the weather changes , I will set it to recirculate and unplug the actuator so is will not be able to re open. If it works I will let you know.

  • @kcflyguy

    The vehicle by default should not go into recirculate when you have any defrost setting selected-your selection is defrosted and floor ventilation. Select another vent position and try again. Nothing is wrong with your car.

    • @tiffyb7309
      @tiffyb7309 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      KCCarGuy I HAVE tried every different vent selection and tried to use the hard and soft recirculate button each time I tried a new vent selection. However it still wouldn't let me use it no matter what vent selection I chose. I HAVE noticed that at any given time that the soft key would all of a sudden be illuminated so that it could be used. I don't understand it.

  • @marliegirl2003
    @marliegirl2003  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Update. After fighting with this problem I have discovered there is a logical reason for this problem. From an engineering standpoint it is working like it should. Let me explain. When you put your defrost on in the cold weather it is trying to do 2 things at the same time. One is to warm the window to remove ice and frost. It's second job is to remove moisture in the air. It does this by cycling your ac compressor and using fresh air from outside. You can not clear a fogged window with recycled moist air. So Chrysler programmed the climate control to only allow fresh air from outside when it is cold and you turn on the defrost. If you want to bypass this setting turn on your air conditioner and when it finally lets you put it in recirculate, unplug the actuator behind the glove box. This way it can't reopen the outside vent. I hope this info helps.

      +Māris Vēveris To be sure, If I replaced the humidity sensor, will the A/C Recirculation work? because mine instead of working in cold temp only which annoys me because the windshield gets fogged up. I will be satisfied if the A/C recirculation button turned on hot temp rather than cold temp since the windshield wont get foggy like in cold temp
