I heard L gives you a lot more torque and HP but it’s only good at launch after that you gotta shift to D again so the car could shift faster

Aaron Zubia I have a lancer and what you said is exactly what happens when I use the L, great for Acceleration like if I'm hopping on the highway or if I wanna impress someone, but I usually have to shift back into D...its kinda fun tho

I'm from Québec province, Canada. This summer, I went in Gaspésia, on the board of the sea and there, for a long time, the road goes up and down... I experience the car can change the gear to low himself when you brake for a long time... I used the low gear before on some hills, but once, I didn't used it and I was sure there's was something wrong with the transmission because the low gear was ingage without my intervention!!! And on the board and, the car was still on Drive! I was very worried!!! But, when I stop to use the break and going up the hill, after around 5 seconds, the car came back in Drive gear! I could not believe it!!! I was still asking myself if there's was a problem with the transmission... But everything came back to the normal! And it's not happen again...
My father was beside me and we laugh about it because it was so weird!!! He saw himself I din't change from Drive to Low but he also felt the car was in Low gear! He's now 85 years old, he was mecanic and he's always surprise by my car! He confirmed my impressions about the transmission and he was also worried about it! But after, we understand and we so much laugh about it!!!
I was feeling unsafe about this part of the trip because I knew I was unable to choose the level of low gear myself! But at this moment, I understand the car can choose for me... So weird!!! I guess it goes with the pressure on the break and the time we use it... I can't understand otherwise! It happen only once... I don't know if someone else made the same experience than me, but I swear! It happen!

I have a situation when I put it on “L” it feels like a spark plug is bad but when I put it on “D” it drives normally any recommendations? Thanks

*Hello, if I am going too fast down-hill, why not just mash the brake redal to slow **down.To** me, going down-hill at a fast speed and gearing down while doing so could put undue pressure on the gear mechanism, thereby damaging it.*

Yes you can slow down with the brakes but don't over do it. Gears are made for extreme pressure and they have a lubrication and cooling system.

But I’m tryna figure out how to put mine in sport mode because it says sport next to the parking break light. Mine also says PRND/L on the shifter so I’m confused?

That's just how they're made it's easier for factory to make 1 - and change the engine but all the lights are in all the models if your car doesent have S you cant activate ot because your car doesent have the engine and the trans the sports mode has I have the same shifter

No, I would not use it in snow.

It helped me when I was stuck in snow in my 2012 Dodge Charger sxt v6 rwd , I put it in L and it got me right out of the snow/mud pit I was stuck in so it definitely works in snow guaranteed

I would have it checked out by a dealer. In the mean time I recommend engaging the parking brake when you park. Just in case.
