I have also an iPad Pro M4 256GB. The performance cores are clocked at 4.41 GHz, the efficiency cores are clocked at 2.89 GHz. The performance is insane, the screen is gorgeous, battery life is great and it doesn’t get hot like my previous M2 iPad Pro.
You mentioned your looking forward to Dolphin emulator coming to iOS. They put out a statement that it’s not coming due to Apple’s stance on JIT in apps remaining unchanged.
Just an FYI. When you changed Genshin Impact settings to highest, you needed to restart the game for it to apply a lot of the new settings (shadows, new shaders etc etc). You ignored the pop up lol.
You can full screen on an external display by clicking the 3 dots and selecting Full Screen. I use PS Remote Play like this all the time by connecting my iPad Pro to a TV or monitor.
Its fast for a tablet but not compared to a pc. The M4 running AC Mirage is nowhere near even a 7 year old pc card (1080Ti). That runs on ultra at 60fps pinned. M4 runs at 30fps with dips to 20-25. Maybe its the game but TFLOPS makes sense. I mean the 1080Ti card (just the card) is 10x thicker than the ipad, let alone the pc.
@@gold333 The 780M is an iGPU, not a discrete one. And the GPU in this IS comparable to it. This is faster in CPU performance than a 8840hs. And I think it's GPU too.

I disagree, I got the M4 pro with the 16gb of ram, and this has completely taken over almost everything- work, productivity, media, and so much more - and gaming! Playing the AAA games like assassin creed and Warframe, genshin, and more is amazing, but also the flexibility of iPad can’t be ignored. You can play in handheld( touch or controller), prompt it up with a case and use a controller or use a monitor or tv, or use stuff like the Backbone or Vinture XR glasses, and since its so portable you can take it anywhere! My 15in gaming laptop basically stays home but I’m never seen without my iPad - and with 5G cloud and remote gaming works well enough to get first play in multiplayer games like Fortnite. And unlike a laptop I can do all this gaming on battery for HOURS- my gaming laptop basically can’t game on battery and it dies out fast it has to be plugged in. And yeah some of the BIG stuff have a hard time running on iPhone 15 pros but the 16 pros are better and runs great and don’t forget the cross saving as well! Yes for MANY a laptop is the way to go- but for a lot of people iPad Pro is a better option, I’m glad I got the 13in M4 pro in 1tb with cellular, I should have gotten the 2tb lol. But it’s so worth the $1,000 plus and with WoW, Palworld, Control, Deadisland 2, and so much more coming- it’s only the beginning!
WoW is coming to ipad? I'd really love to know what your "productivity" use case is. I'm not aware of any real IDEs that work on ipad os for software engineering. It feels like I'm hamstrung in nearly all use cases. Also, is PPSSPP the highest emulator available? So no PS2 or "he who shall not be named"? At > 1k it is a hard pass. It's just a really expensive toy. They need to either reduce the price dramatically or give it full blown macos as an option. Then it would become a must buy for me. As is though, nah, not for 1k. Frankly M4 is overkill for what is actually "allowed" on ipad os. I also wouldn't buy something based off of what "could" happen. It may never come to pass, or by the time it does, we could be on M5, M6.
I’ve been carrying an iPad around for more than half a decade and use it constantly. Decided it was time for an upgrade this year, what with the new Apple Pencil. Went with the 1tb model for the extra cpu core and double the ram. I work as an artist and the primary use will be for illustration, but I’m definitely going to use it for some gaming now too :D
Can you test it with some CRT shaders and use the HDR Headroom from the tandem OLED? This screen is capable of 1,000 nits full screen so it should be really good for CRT Shader emulation
My 2017 ipad pro works well but time to upgrade. The M4 Pro looks amazing but a bit overkill for me. Im looking at the 13 Air for my viewing , gaming, and remoting into my work PC. I will really miss the 120hz.

It's unanimously said that iPad software is nowhere near utilizing the full potential of the hardware. Logic Pro and Final Cut didn't come to the iPad until recently. Even then, they are still missing some features and a number of plugins from their macOS counterparts. Pretty much any major desktop software that has an iPadOS version is lacking in one area or others. For the purposes of this video, previous generation iPads have ran side loaded emulators with ease including the harder to emulate systems. There won't be anything this iPad will do that previous iPads can't already do other than run titles at higher resolutions and display everything on a nice OLED screen. So yes, it's overkill in every way possible.
1000$ desktop is more powerful than the Laptop, 1000$ Laptop is more powerful than Tablets (gpu wise only) and 1000$ tablets is more powerful than Phone. It's all relative, the iPad is literally 5-10 times tinner than the Laptop..

I haven’t tested the M4 with some games but it has always been my experience that with games like ge shin impact, playing for 5 minutes, the tablet gets so hot it starts thermal throttling

Hey, if you turn off the stage manager, they will go to fullscreen mode but ipad will be mirrored. You can do it from the control centre or the settings.

Yeah, just gaming is asking for a lot, but if you are a creative then having it double for gaming is great. Very cool tablet iPads are the best, but most can just get an iPad Air.
I got the same setup, I saw a video showing only 0-10% faster with the 1tb plus models. 256 is the way to go for sure. This tandem OLED is so good for emulation.

This would actually be amazing for a musician with the DAW running on an external screen and the softsynths showing on the internal screen If they would allow the tablets to run eg Logic Pro or other DAWs made for the Macs. With the new Apple silicon I don't get why they havn't done that yet as there theoretically shouldn't be any difference in the hardware. It's all based on the same chips today.

That's the thing I wish they fixed with stage manager. I like mirroring my display when I'm drawing but I hate that the apps don't go full screen. If they did it would make a better better computer replacement and better for gaming
Problem is only emulators supported on iOS are relatively simple (up to PS1). Most $60-$100 cheap dedicated Linux/android devices can run those systems just fine

I don't understand why all of the people want the iPad to perform as a Mac, and be their only device. Laptop and iPad are seperate devices, where Laptop is essential and tablet is optional. If you want to buy an iPad, just expect tablet-like experience, and you will need to be prepared (or buy) a fully functional 'computing' device.
Android tablets and android laptops (Chromebooks) can run mostly the same from visual studio code to luma fusion etc etc Windows laptops and Windows tablets can run the same apps The only company that have a more limited app library on their tablets is apple with their ipads, So yeah everyone have the right to complain about the iPad not being able to run more mac apps natively, this is not about the tablet experience or anything

Tablet is significantly quieter that a laptop as well. More likely I’ll play a game on my tablet on a flight that pull out my laptop.

i think the problem with Dolphin is that Apple really does not want to enable JIT support which Dolphin relies on

Laptop and iPad are seperate devices, where Laptop is essential and tablet is optional.
If you want to buy an iPad, just expect tablet-like experience, and you will need to be prepared (or buy) a fully functional 'computing' device.
Android tablets and android laptops (Chromebooks) can run mostly the same from visual studio code to luma fusion etc etc
Windows laptops and Windows tablets can run the same apps
The only company that have a more limited app library on their tablets is apple with their ipads,
So yeah everyone have the right to complain about the iPad not being able to run more mac apps natively, this is not about the tablet experience or anything
