I’m using a 2018 Pro. It’s still great. Display is very sharp and the performance is still good.
Same here. The battery dropped a while ago but seems ok now for some reason.
They worsen the battery since 17.4 - they remotely damaging the batteries to push the sales either for their Genius Bar or to buy their new models

They will be able to watch the same cartoons, but it will have much less impact on their dopamine system. It will also be less interesting, as the world around them is colorful while the iPad is black and white.

Nah, there is adefinitely a vocal contingent of people who straight up want macOS on iPad. But it is a smaller contingent than the group of people who rightfully grumble about iPadOS being lacking for what the iPad Pro should be capable of.

I’m still using my 1st gen iPad Pro from 2016. Used it everyday for everything from pro corporate video to illustration to music production and still feels as fast as when I got it.
Favorite creator! Every video I think " I wish he made more content" but I know the wait is so worth it because I'm glued to my SCREEN!

This is my exact upgrade. I went from the 2018 to the M4 as well. It’s mainly going to pay off with Apple intelligence. And future proofing. Plus I have a pretty big project that I’m working on.
I use a 7th gen iPad with the A10 Fusion everyday and am still very happy with it. More power is fine but i have never felt the need for more power. This thing never feels slow.

Great video! I traded in my 2018 iPP for the M4. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the 2018. Was using it with the Magic Keyboard and mouse with a stand as I did not like the iPP keyboard at the time. Now I have the 2024 keyboard, pencil and love the combo (which I got on credit card points). Also like the centre camera and screen. The new setup is great and don’t regret the switch.

I just got a 2018 iPad Pro 11” 2 weeks ago as someone who has never owned a tablet and let me tell you it was worth every penny. I was shocked by how buttery smooth it is, even on iPadOS 18 Beta even.

It’s good.. still rocking 2018 ipad pro..just the battery life is gone bad due to updates ( apple intentionally reduced it, otherwise no one will buy new devices)

I used my ipad pro 2018 as well for video production & editing. But i always have a bit of lag issue in editing in 4K, even at 1080p with 4-2-0 8 bit in davinci resolve. So my question is, did you ever get any lagging issue just by scrolling playback for your 4K videos in the editing software? or the issue is really cause by davinci resolve itself?

Watching on my 2nd gen iPad Pro. I was thinking battery replacement and now I am definitely going that route.
I’m still using 12.9 first gen iPad Pro for music production, video editing, and drawing.. it still has plenty of life in it..but I’m saving for the m4 so it’s future proof and last me 8-10 years lol I really enjoyed your video big ups.
I’m on first gen as well, waiting till it dies… by that time I’ll be able to get an m4 on discount or second hand for much less. No need to spend anything while it’s still holding up this well.

I’ve got a 2020 12.9 pro and a 16inch MacBook M1 Pro and as a creative I don’t see the need to upgrade anything for atleast another two years and will certainly be putting a new battery in the iPad when it comes time

I bought a 2018 iPad Pro 12.8” model in 2020, still using it without any problem in 2024.
My first time watching your videos and I loved it! I recently upgraded from a 2020 pro 11inch to a m4 in 13(I always had the smaller pros but with “all this new power” I thought I’d go with a bigger size. And before my upgrade, I practically live on iPad. Both my Windows PC, which I use for gaming when I’m not gaming on my consoles And my iMac barely see a few hours out of a week because my iPad does all my personal business and entertainment outside of my Apple TV. I personally love the outlet display. I do notice that my older iPad could do just about almost everything that my new iPad could do, but the M4 to me hand those things way better- for example I am mobile gamer and I can play on it longer before the graphics and FPS start to throttle after hours of play- Play games like League of Legends Wild Rift, Pokémon UNITE, assassins Creed Mirage, ZZZ, genshin impact, Minecraft, Xbox cloud and ps5 remote play, and more so on the game front, you would actually notice a difference. And yes, I agree Michael does not need to be on the iPad, but I do feel like more apps and games on Mac should be ported over, and another big reason I love my M4 over my 2020 iPad is stage manager and external display- and now I use my Mac almost never because I can just external display out by iPad and run most of the things I want to do. There is other little things that add up but for sure the iPad Pro from 2018 and higher was definitely made to last for years and they have done such a good job- so imagine people with M4 in the next six years, we will have an even harder time thinking about upgrading, even though we want to!
Overall, I loved my new iPad and could not go back, but I can understand some people who would have a hard time seeing the difference and would be fine with older iPads.
