- NHL Network came out with their annual top 20 defensemen rankings and put former Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox at #8. This seems quite low for a player who is consistently in the running for the Norris trophy and is an all-around elite player.

The pundits are obsessed with Charlie McAvoy without cause. Every year he is talked about as a top Norris Candidate. I think he is a solid defensemen, but I also think he is one of the most overrated.
The knee injuries set Fix back a bit last year. He can rebound. He may never be as offensive as Makar or Hughes, but he is well more rounded.
Lol .... I just made the same exact comment !!!! Then I saw yours .... Every year he's always talked about and so overrated, not by like a whole lot, but way too much. Then he is by several spots. He shouldn't have even really hit the top 10. He's big. He's a thick kid. And I like him because he's from Long Island it lives near me and he's in crazy New York ranger saying, but still I mean It just seems more of like he's good defensive shutdown type guy. And I have seen his offense flashes, and they are good, but not consistent.
Idk why he gets talks about so much. He doesn't put up like point per game numbers or anything. I don't know. They just talk about way too much like he's. Uh, you know, top 3 defensive guy, I don't know. Where they get this stuff from, when i'm watching the NHL NETWORK , ECT ..., I don't know what i'm missing ???? Lol
@@beukeboom3879 Nothing. He is a top 20, and can do things at both ends, but he will never be a top points producer, or be a top shut down guy, or even a big time body checker. He's just rounded. But boy do the media guys drool over him.
The list for me is: 1. Makar, 2. Fox, 3. Heiskennen 4. Josi 5. Forsling 6. Hughes 7. Hedman 8. Seider 9. Slavin 10. Montour

Although they are not as great, I also think that Makar is new Orr, Fox is new Leetch, Heiskennen is new Neidermeyer, Forsling/Hedman is new Lidstrom, Hughes is new Bourque, Josi is new Coffey
Solid comparisons
A healthy Adam Fox is in the top there any day of the week! Definitely right up there with Cale for offense and I think he’s super underrated defensively being a smaller stature. He can hit and as we all know he uses his hockey IQ to outplay the opponents.
Seems like he'll be fully healthy for the upcoming season which is good
I actually dont dissagree mabey 2 or 3 seasons ago id have put Fox in the top 3 or 4 but i dont think there is any reason for shame or outrage being top 10 in the league.
We can argue all day where Fox belongs in this list … how about the other 2 top defenseman on the Rangers ? The captain and Miller where do they rank? I’d say pretty low on the list which maybe a good reason for changes. Just saying

Luke is going to be a better defenseman. The only problem is the Devils also has Nemec who has potential through the roof to be a top D in the league.
Somehow Hamilton is ranked but he missed the entire fucking season and is the main reason the Devils weren't competitive.
It's a fair assessment because he has no physical component to his game !

These lists are subjective & sort of reflect the last season probably. Makar is hands down the best D in the league. I don't know if I would put Fox at #2, but as crazy as people would think it seems, I wouldn't trade Fox for Quinn Hughes. The guy who is really rated badly is Noah Dobson. He should be much higher. I was crossing my fingers Rangers would draft him, but they very stupidly drafted Kravtsov.

I think Fox being ranked as the 8th overall best defensemen is fine. I have no argument with that list. When Cale is healthy he is pretty much unstoppable, Quinn had a breakout season last year which doesn't surprise me. This is actually a very solid top 10 rankings list which I'm actually surprised by lol.

Yeah fox is definitely not even top 10 anymore. He’s always hurt. Maybe if he was healthy he’d be top10. But he’s always hurt when we need him the most.
