Why risk Mika's chances to have the worst plus-minus in history?

Same, I'm on the fence about Otthman but he's still a decent player, I just don't expect too much from him. Rangers missed a chance to call up either Connor Mackey or Matthew Robertson. It just seems like nobody knows what the hell there doing within the Organization. Both are over 6"3" and play physical hockey. This would be a great chance for either of them to gain some NHL experience. btw, Robertson is killing it in Harford this season. 1 goal and 13 assist with a +4. I honestly just don't understand how this current Rangers management thinks.

@delsanravelvetheart4365 it's NY the pressure to win NOW is always on them young players don't ever get the ice time to develop there's always rentals or some veteran slotted in , and around and around we go.

@@Ddeamorin Well yeah because the vets get all the main line minutes and the younger players get bottom six forward minutes and third line defensive minutes. Any young players growth would be affected by this. The Rangers are one of the worst, if not the worst in the League when it comes to player development. The Rangers need a culture change top to bottom within the organization. We need people who will properly pay attention to the younger players/prospects.

I agree mostly but why would chytil hit when the team vets and “leaders” don’t hit. Mika and kreider don’t hit or do soft roll off hits. He learned from them. They play soft.

For all the reasons why you say Chytil will be traded, those are THE EXACT REASONS why no one will trade for him. Especially because of his concussion history. If anything, Chytil may end up having a medically induced retirement.

When are Ranger fans going to get their heads out of their asses and stop expecting our young players to be Wayne Gretzky right off the bat? Also, let's not forget that 45 points working on the 3rd and 4th lines is pretty damn good production; until this year, Chytil has never gotten on a line higher than 3rd. And that's for 3 different coaches in The last 5 years. So, again, expecting a 3rd line center to have Wayne Gretzky-type numbers is absolutely stupid since 3rd line centers don't get Wayne Gretzky-type minutes

I agree that the current team would not win the Cup. Not sure how turning them into a bottom feeder will correct that. Gorton built a good team that only needed a couple of the right pieces. instead of doing that, Drury has his dismantled the team in an attempt to promote himself. The Rangers bought his contract as a player because he was not good enough. Time for history to repeat itself. Elliott Friedman has made many predictions. He is right about 8% of the time.

​​@@petermills-c1hletting Barclay Goodrow go was the biggest mistake Drury did this offseason because nobody else on the Rangers has Goodrow's skill set (forechecking, backchecking, hitting, winning 4th line faceoffs, agitating other team's top 2 lines, fighting, winning 50/50 board puck battles), a skill set that is so obviously needed and missed on this year's Rangers team.

@@arln1966 that really seemed to be the point of no return for Drury. For all the reasons you stated I could not believe Goodrow was dumped, and for absolutely nothing. The Rangers needed more Goodrows and one fewer Drury. His trades since becoming GM have been disasters and he has given away far too many picks so there is nothing left to rebuild with.

@ it is always crap shoot when you look for a GM. Up until now, Esposito was the worst in Ranger history. “Trader Phil” wanted to stay in the limelight by making a “big deal” but a big stupid deal didn’t help the team. There a lot of bad choices out there but even a good choice will inherit a team in turmoil and Drury has depleted the reserve of prospects and picks needed to retool. This year will likely be a write off for anyone who takes over.

Laffy had a good season last year; he showed what he could do, especially in the playoffs, but unfortunately, his linemates (Mika and Zibenejad) have seriously regressed this year, and that has absolutely affected Laffy's play this year. Everyone else has seen Kreider's and Mika's regression and are focusing defensively on controlling Laffy while Kreider and Mika struggle to find their game. And if you were expecting Laffy to be Wayne Gretzky, you're an idiot.

I did too. I though Laff would be a 35/40 goal scorer and thought Kakko would be a 25-30 goal scorer. Laff stats i imagined would go like this: 40 goals, 30 assists. Kakko i imagined would go like this: 30 goals and 30 assists. Both have not gotten close to that. I too thought adding both of them would have gotten us at least 2 cups thus far.....we were all wrong unfortunately

You realize laf gets next to no Pp time. But god forbid they take Mika off who’s been a turn over machine. Kakko got very little chances. Again only 2nd powerplay behind panarin and fox who play at least 1:30 of it. Which I get and as would be fine they play all 2 but swap out the other 3 so young guys get real time and chance. I fully believe covid fuck so many talented kids from 2019 draft and 2020. We are seeing a bunch from those draft break out now 4-5 years later. They would will never have a dynasty. They don’t have true #1 center. I love trock but he’s a #2 guy. Mika is streaky at best. Mika’s has a terrible year but people don’t notice because he has points. His play is shit.

That is an absolutely delusional take. Kakko this season had been the best 2-way forward on the Rangers, and his game is exactly what we need more of, not less. The only issue I had with Kakko is the fact he was getting crap for minutes on ice while Kreider, and Zibenejad, have been absolute trash this year. Instead of trading Kakko, Rangers should have reshuffled the lines, moving Kakko to 1st line, Kreider to 3rd line, and switched Trocheck and Mika since Trocheck is slightly better at faceoffs. No, Trocheck isn't a true #1 Center, but he's been better than Zibenejad this year and the minutes need to be given accordingly

Welp, that proves it. The Rangers have quietly informed the rest of the league that there sellers this season if that is indeed true. So the Pens must've had there eyes on one of the Rangers prospects for awhile now.

@@trondeaf If it was just a scout or two from the Pens, then big deal that happens often. But for the GM and other executives within the Pen's organization to be there in person is a totally different story entirely .

Tell me how much better this Rangers team would be if they had kept Barclay Goodrow; his skill set (hitting, digging out pucks in the corners, agitating the other team's top lines, defense, winning face off in the circle, for checking, back-checking,) is exactly what this Rangers team needs right now.

Especially since his skill set: -winning 50/50 puck battles on the boards -forechecking -backchecking -agitating opponents's top 2 lines -hitting -fighting -winning faceoffs is severely lacking on the Rangers this season.

It happens. At the end of the day this is business so it's nothing personal to Avs fans but that is brutal to hear. With the big cap increase, he'll easily sign for 8 years at around 14 to 15 million per season. For Mikko, I would not mind trading a few high tier prospects. He's one of the few players in the league currently that I'd be ok with that kind of trade.

Rangers don't have the quality pieces either in NY or Hartford other than Panarin that would entice Colorado to make that trade, and the idea of getting Rantanen would be to PAIR him with Panarin

@@c.s.s.5326 I would just trade off players like Kreider, Zibenejad, Fox, Miller for players that are RFA or UFA that matches salary going out plus draft picks. Going to need to do that and vastly improve our scouting department

@@arln1966 Yeah, the Scouting Dept. is a good call. Global, US & Canada let alone the Pro Scouting Ranks. The awful thing too is that you have the worst combo of contracts & team developmental curve with Igor. Big ticket goalies are nearly useless for rebuilding teams. They're usually the last piece you add to a contender and with a porous defense his value is gonna crater under the new deal. I'd be curious to see if the Front Office plays the REALLY long game and considers eating money on the Zib, Breadman and Fox deals to build up better return assets. Trocheck has a lot of value especially with his prowess in the for and his playoff performance last year. and a workable cap hit. Cuylle, whose game I love, seems to have developed despite the player development system, not because of it.... A fools' errand sees Brendan Schneider + Adam Sykora and a Pick become Zegras. Lindgren + Berard + a Pick to get Miller back out of VAN. And then you rush sell the forward corps and end up with a new soup of the same issues. Burn it down...! lol.... Tank for Gavin McKenna, Gabriel D'Aigle, Justin Carbonneau, Matthew Schaefer and the next Core.

@@arln1966 I'd trade Panarin for the right package. He's a gifted player, but a liability in the playoffs. If building a younger team, trading him would free up a lot of money too.

I agree with people saying that they came out of rebuild too early. Now they are trying to go back and fill out their foundation.

@@mmonurdz9456 I agree, I think the Rangers should've waited at least, another two to three years before they left the rebuilding phase. I know that term is very unpopular but it's what needs to happen now, not make a big trade losing the prospects with high upside. However, the Rangers bad habit of giving up on prospects too soon or, not bring in the right guys to help there development properly is seriously a major problem.

@@richardmanginelli2624 Did you seriously ask that question? You must be a troll, otherwise you'd know the cap limit is increasing by a lot next year and the Rangers moved off of Trouba and Kakko's contracts. If your going to make comments like that, at least know what your talking about first.

@@delsanravelvetheart4365 Laf, Miller, Chytil need new contracts, the $8 mil in the TROUBA trade is already spent,along with taking a Cap hit on Vaikkananen, The Goodrow money went to Reilly Smith, $700k gained in the Kakko trade + the cap going $4 Mil next IS ALREADY SPENT 1 1/2 on Laff alone, SO NO, NOT TROLLING I understand the Dumbing down of America, the U.S. ranked 38th in the world in BASIC MATH
