Something that it is worth to mention on GT7 is the new pedal calibration settings. They do affect your driving drastically. The other week I was doing good in the dailies using an alternate account, having fewer incidents and better results and so. Then, when I tried another account, it looked like everyone wanted to punt or ram me off the track. Some drivers even told me I was "break checking them"... Another tip I could add: search the the cleanest part of the track. For sure it's in the racing line, and outside of it it's dirty and less grippy. But within the racing line, sometimes there's more grip when inside wheel is on rhe curb, sometimes the curb needs to be in the middle of the car...
Brilliant tips, I’ve been struggling with GT7 coming from GT Sport. The traction tips and throttle control were extra helpful. Have you compared playing GT7 with your direct drive wheel vs the G29? Would be interesting to see your experience. A great example of feeling grip in the wheel would be license test IB-9 (transition between up hill to down hill).
I'd love to try GT7 with my direct drive however it's not directly compatible with GT7 so I'll have to try pick up an adapter to make it work. If I do then maybe I'll make a video about it. Hey man this is great content. Would you be able to do a short video specifically on how to effectively navigate hairpins? As a beginner I feel like I’m able to apply most of these concepts but get thrown off wildly when it comes to hairpins.
Thanks mate! I plan to do more guides about the GT7 license tests including some with hairpins. In those videos I can try explain more about it. But to try give a bit of advice, particularly on gran turismo 7, be very patient and gentle with how you apply the throttle coming out of hairpins. At low speeds it is really easy to lose traction and slide around. Make sure your car is in a straight line or close to it before you get harder on the throttle. For entering hairpins, dont turn towards the inside of the turn too early. Brake and stay on the outside of the track until you have slowed down a lot and then only deeper in the braking zone, then begin to turn around the corner and turn the wheel a lot. The slower your car is going, the more you can turn the steering wheel for grip. I hope this helps a bit
Treat a hairpin as a REALLY gnarly 90 degree turn or two. Take it wide as possible and only hit full throttle when you're on the exit line. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast 😅
Braking references sound like a great idea for consistent drivers... I find that my exit speeds from each corner are so variable that a consistent braking reference is a recipe for disaster!
Starting over on PS4, my m.2 card in my PS5 got corrupted and I don't trust it. Too bad because I just set up my merc to beat all of the Gr.3 races. Gotta start from scratch. Thanks for the tips, the TC advise is a big help.
Great video brother. These tips have been around but I feel you did a great job explaining in detail. The zooming in of the throttle was very helpful and also the driving lines explanation 👍
You don't trail brake to the "middle of a corner" as you suggest. Rather you are slowly releasing the brake pedal as you approach the corner apex. Additionally, how you release the brake pedal also contributes to the traction available on the front of the car. If you release too quickly you can upset the weight balance by allowing weight to transfer to the rear of the car. Or if you are back to throttle too early and or heavy you end up with understeer and you will have to lift. Regarding your comment on turning too early. With few exceptions, in any corner with a radius that opens you will want to turn in early, conversely, if the radius tightens you ideally turn in a little later to maximize exit drive. Your comment on carrying corner speed is not a constant. It is sometimes necessary and faster to sacrifice speed to ensure you can properly place the car for the next corner that precedes a straightway. Typically any corner that leads to a longer straight will have a higher value and may require the driver to sacrifice speed in the previous corner/s in order to get the best exit out of the corner leading to said straightaway. Of course the longer the straight away is the more important this becomes. At least this is how it works in the real world on real race tracks.
100% all about being on the throttle and reaching maximum throttle the earliest on the beginning of a flat out section, even sacrificing some time by backing off if there's a slow car ahead, then maintaining the racing line with full throttle and then overtaking after the tight corner
There's always a gt7 lawyer who knows best knocking about . In many drivers opinions this lads tips are really good better than most ,so stick to the bullshit court room
Good tips I would include try braking a bit earlier than earlier titles. Gt in the pass we were used to breaking as late as we possibly can without loosing too much speed.
I've been shelving this game currently until the snap oversteer problems have been fixed. So far, there is no slip-angle and currently the game is suffering a very similar issue to iRacing 2 years back. There is little to no slip angle, instead. You are given unforgiven snap oversteer that's completely unrealistic and makes the game not fun, but a complete chore to play. How the car handles within what the game considers "available grip" is amazing thougj
Totally agree with this, its frustratingly difficult to drive as it is but for now I'm just trying to live with it. Do you know if there is confirmation for a fix on this? It would be sad if this gets ignored
You wanna go faster drive the Formula 1 car, you barely have to slow down for turns and it's very forgiving. I drove it on the Nurburgring for 45 minutes and was sweating at the end of it, it'll make your head spin and feels like you're playing with speed set at 1.5-2x. Doing the Nurburgring in 5:50 is a lot of fun.
As you get better at gt7, you should turn off ur racing line, because you would remember the main line, and the breaking area because you can feel if you have to break or not.
It really is, the countersteer assist that doesn't turn off is really no help except for the computer taking over and cranking the wheel all the way to the left or right and wrecking the car.
Very good. Throttle and brake control will take some time to get right on a controller. If I race perfectly without using these, it seems I am finishing every race in the middle of the pack.

I’ve always ran with ABS and TCS off and I’m loving GT7 with the G29. I feel if you’ve mastered braking and throttle control it’s quicker.. Currently I’ve been testing all the GR.4 cars without assists and with default tune on RS tires. Trail Mountian is where I’m testing them all to see if any BOP is needed for an upcoming series I want to do. Haven’t tested them all yet but I have tested the Ferrari, Mustang, Corvette, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, NSX , Mercedes, Nissan, McLaren and BMW times are ranging from 1:56.3- 1:56.9 for every car except the BMW… For some Reason the BMW GR.4 is just way off pace as it sits. My gamer tag in the game is DRVN1 and I have videos for all the cars doing these laps in showcase
Thanks. I've subbed for future tips etc. I've been playing through the mission races and I couldn't figure out if TCS up or down was helping or hindering me.. I'll try it on 1 like you suggested. Now can you give me some tips with brake bias for the drift cars . What would make more sense
U forgot to mention that a good driving setup can shave u a few of something depends how good u incorporate this and x2 more racing knowledge and micro tuning and super important throttle control, some of these Speed Demons don't break any more, they just downshift and throttle control it to the fullest. No matter the position u are aming for, always show respect to others on track and follow racing rules without destroying game for others. Thank u my co racers and see ya at the track, respect from your friendly racer TwistedMetal
The Audi R8 is a 4WD that's why the TC is necessary. Like the R32. But the American cars, and most of the other is DOWNFORCE that will help tremendously. specially with the American cars. Too much power makes you spin and loose control even when you are leaving a corner and you have a straight. I my self sometimes don't like to put wings on the car if it doesn't look good, but they are the ones that help with the downforce and lets you change it in tunning. don't forget the front diffusers as well.
Most of this is old hat to sim racing fans, but it never hurts to share this knowledge with the newcomers, or see it put into practice so well. Remind us who know this stuff or even know it well, how much poor driving habits cost valuable bits of time that add up to a slower race. And while too many people sneer at using driving aids, some real life leagues use features like traction control for solid reasons. And if TC is really hurting your race, you're abusing it and the car. Race more carefully. Tuning, however... that's something I barely have a clue of. We definitely need some tuning gurus to share their wisdom, because stock tuning rarely gives you the best race in Gran Turismo. I wish GT7 had Polyphony tunes available for all upgrades so we could basically have Race Mod. I wish Race Mod itself would make a comeback, as well as a range of Tuner Mods with some unique skins.
Great video! I knew most things from racing games in general except that dirty air thing with the formula cars, it makes a lot of sense but I didn’t know GT7 takes that into account ☺️
That's a good advice. Although tcs 1 is faster in several cars and track combinarions, getting used to drive without it(for example, trying to get the gold in challenges and licenses) will help you a lot to be faster on races, so you can turn it on and off depending on the race situation and not being (not so)afraid of spinning.
Very new to GT7. The trail braking tip really helped. A question - when are the fuel based races introduced (I’m still on cafe menu #17) or is it ever introduced
Thank you for sharing this guide. Although I knew some of this but with your explanation made it more understandable for me to figure out what I’m doing wrong when racing. I have a question also regarding steering wheel to use? I’m currently using trustmaster T150. Don’t like the feedback, especially when I’m braking hard the steering is turning to the left or right. I’m looking for something more realistic steering wheel. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your feedback! And with wheels, I would always suggest go for the direct drives if is within your budget but if you cant do this for now, then for GT7 I would probably think a higher tier thrustmaster wheelbase will be better. But I have no experience with thrustmaster wheelbases. I have only used a logitech G29 and a direct drive simagic m10 before. The logitech Is very bottom of the line with its force feedback so I wouldnt suggest going there. The simagic wheelbases arent compatible with playstation so I wouldn't suggest that. It can work with ps4 with an adapter but you would have to manually tune it for better force feedback in GT7. I cant really suggest other wheels because I dont have experience with others

Great video. I didn't think about downforce and the slipstream effects.
Thank you again. Had to study some more. I am having problems turning...staying on throttle during turn is an issue. I will definitely keep reviewing this gr8 vid. Thanks!
Another tip I could add: search the the cleanest part of the track. For sure it's in the racing line, and outside of it it's dirty and less grippy.
But within the racing line, sometimes there's more grip when inside wheel is on rhe curb, sometimes the curb needs to be in the middle of the car...
Great Tips , just started on GT7 thank you
Great video with great tips. Helped me a lot. Thanks!
I needed this video. Thank you so much man.
Great tips! Time to get on and get faster💯
I had a very short experience with GT Sport but coming to GT7, I definitely notice that cars are a whole lot more slidey and willing to spin
I wish gt 7 had cones like gt sport
@@unleasheddrivers1281 I’m a lot more confident now with GT7 but I have literally reverse my force feedback settings in comparison to GT Sport. Instead of sensitivity 10 in gt sport I know have 2. I’ve been applying tips on throttle control and stuff and they’re working! Thank you. 😎
@@michaelschneider1365 I’ve been dabbling in a bit of drifting and I agree with you. They should also have a “practice track” that is extra wide that you can practice drifting and doing donuts and stuff. 🍩
@@acheekydog2863 there’s a ton of features and settings for racing that games like assetto corsa competition does better. But gt is good and a good sim at that. It’s just different always has been.
Very good video, i used it to explain to my friend how to drive on track.
My in-game ‘69 Camaro with all the go-fast mods really helped me learn throttle control…on Laguna. 😂
That sounds like a lot of fun!! I still need to do so much in GT7, I've barely progressed since the first day because of making all these videos
I notice the wheels support works better in GT7 than in previous editions. In my case, Im using a generic HORI official PS4, PS3 wheel.
Thanks for the tips. Very helpful.
Useful tips! Thanks!
Holy Shit after 15 years of Gran Turismo i finally understand TCS Thanks.
I'm really having fun with the FT-1 right now . This game is addicting for sure. I just wish they had more tracks like COTA. TY
I found on some of the gt3 cars you can lower ur controller setting for guys using controller helps some on wheel spin on exit
Solid video, mate! Appreciated. Hope, I can apply your tips correctly - still a beginner ;)
Great video brother. These tips have been around but I feel you did a great job explaining in detail. The zooming in of the throttle was very helpful and also the driving lines explanation 👍
Thanks mate!
Now remember kids, when you don't use traction control and full throttle you're gonna have a bad time
You don't trail brake to the "middle of a corner" as you suggest.
Fax
100% all about being on the throttle and reaching maximum throttle the earliest on the beginning of a flat out section, even sacrificing some time by backing off if there's a slow car ahead, then maintaining the racing line with full throttle and then overtaking after the tight corner
There's always a gt7 lawyer who knows best knocking about . In many drivers opinions this lads tips are really good better than most ,so stick to the bullshit court room
@@carlwyatt5036 Unlike most sim racers/influencers I practice what I preach... how about you? www.youtube.com/@FL50ssp/videos I rest my case.
@@carlwyatt5036 No one cares what you think, lil bro
Good tips I would include try braking a bit earlier than earlier titles. Gt in the pass we were used to breaking as late as we possibly can without loosing too much speed.
Thanks for the extra tip!
I like to buy racing brakes and pads and weight reduction 1 for almost everything to help, even if I have to detune the motor a bit
Ok very good tips. Certainly very helpful to new gt player like me
I've been shelving this game currently until the snap oversteer problems have been fixed.
@@unleasheddrivers1281 what’s slip angle? And does this have anything to do with why it’s so difficult to correct accidentally oversteering
Some good tips there bro 👍🏼 thanks. Yeah the r8 evo is a nightmare to drive with an controller lol. Pure evil. I need to save up for a wheel tbf.
Throttle control is absolutely key for lower and or no TC.
Hey dude been a long fan just wanted to ask if you would make a list of best cars for each circuits?
As you get better at gt7,
you should turn off ur racing line, because you would remember the main line, and the breaking area because you can feel if you have to break or not.
Coming from GT sport using a controller must say I find GT 7 very difficult. Not the cafe menus but the championships.
It really is, the countersteer assist that doesn't turn off is really no help except for the computer taking over and cranking the wheel all the way to the left or right and wrecking the car.
You know your good at throttle control when you can control the Corvette stringray 59 without traction control
Great video the visuals is fantastic
Very good. Throttle and brake control will take some time to get right on a controller. If I race perfectly without using these, it seems I am finishing every race in the middle of the pack.
The PS5 DualSense controller with its adaptive triggers make the brake and throttle control surprisingly intuitive!
I know I’m a bit late here but a lot of these tips can also be learned through doing the License test in the game. Even if you’re not interested in getting Gold in them or anything like that, doing the various challenges in this mode drastically helped me learn the game!
Yeah, it's wonderful. I've gone from crisp and accurate GT Sport, to 'Oil tankers on ice' GT7. Well worth the price of my DD pro rig.
You think the physics are worse or just more difficult?
@@aliendrifts better in some cases, over exaggerated in others.
Oh bro Ive watched a few of your videos, Didnt know you ar ea kiwi! Love it
Thanks. Great tips. Newbie to gt7 and my cornering is terrible
I'm coming from Forza Horizon 5 (that I absolutely loved) to Gran Turismo 7. It's like a grenade vs a scalpel 😁
When in doubt, go flat out!!! And I’m always in doubt 😂
these tips were great, thank you :)
Good content. Well thought out.
Great Video, you've got a new subscriber
Thanks gustardo!
Thanks. I've subbed for future tips etc. I've been playing through the mission races and I couldn't figure out if TCS up or down was helping or hindering me.. I'll try it on 1 like you suggested. Now can you give me some tips with brake bias for the drift cars . What would make more sense
I'd say +5 since that makes it easier to make the car oversteer.
Thanks for the upload mate 👍👍👍👍👍
R8 GT3 is a RWD car
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you excellent tutorial
Another tip: Watch the weather radar and learn when to switch tires early, you'll never get surprised with a wet track again.
My problem was braking and ty it helped
I reckon if you want to develop good habits; drive without traction control.
Great video and tips. 👍🏽
Good tips, thank you
Excellent tips here. Very useful 👌
Thanks mate!
The biggest problem I have is I've been playing F1 2021 for quite a while and the difference in speed, breaking and turning is throwing me off.
really helpful video
Loved your vid. Count me a New Subscriber. Keep up the great work
Thank you for sharing this guide.
@@unleasheddrivers1281 thank you so much for this, I’ll check those you recommended 🤙🏼
