    Hi, Taylor! Came across your channel while researching DIY hydraulic presses and mods.
    I can see at least a few of your videos that interest me.
    Your shop press at 13:52 is different than any I’ve seen so far and it does have the look of a shop-made tool as opposed to a commercially available press. Is there a way for you to show more angles and explain in greater detail exactly how it works? I’d like to understand exactly how the cables are routed and how that works. Also I’d like to know how a handle on top of the press is able to extend the screw inside the ram.
    Another video with all the😂construction details of this press or a photo essay would work.
    Thanks for your time!

    Where did you get that bearing installation tool "pipe thing", as used in the video???

    • @Tech_1968
      @Tech_1968  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearing installer is from Miller Tools. There pretty expensive for what it is, around $350. You can find them from other vendors. It's under the description of a differential pinion bearing installer. I have also made them out of scrap thick wall pipe and 1/4" plate. Hope that helps.

    I took two 1/4'' beam clamps, clamped them to the top beam and installed two broom holder clips to hold the handle, when not in use.

    Chuck Mckenzie not all presses use a cage if you use a regular hydraulic jack a cage cannot be used because there will be no space for you to work the jack handle so my advice if you dont know how to use one leave it alone im a mechanic and have bin using it for years even in the dark just saying

    FYI, that specific bearing splitter is an OTC model 1123 = $175 on Amazon. 20-Ton HF press ranges from $129 to $249 (typical price with coupon $149). OTC is nice, but overpriced in my opinion.

      Could have used angle iron instead of risking a valuable tool damage. Also putting your hand underneath to catch isn't recommended for when it gives way the steel won't care about skin & bone

      From what I’ve seen, the HF bearing splitter kit is affordable and does the job just fine.

    Be aware that if you think the ram shaft is inserted in a hole in the base of the bottle jack, you're wrong. It is just welded onto the cross beam. I learned that the hard way, fortunately without injury.

    Bearing splitter is around $34 at Harbor Freight. 20 ton press is $250. So bearing splitter is no where near more expensive as the press. Unless you bought it from Snap on. Just saying.
    otherwise excellent video.

      You don’t want to use harbor freight tools splitter, at least get one from OTC or Proto in the $100-$120 range

    Why do some people pronounce “height” as “heith”? Pronouncing the ending as though it’s a “th” instead of just “t”
