  • My name is Jared Beckwith, I’m a registered EEG technologist. In this video I review an EEG of a 50 year old woman with history of epilepsy. Her epilepsy is currently controlled on the anti epileptic drug gabapentin. The EEG showed frontal 3hz spike and wave interictal discharges. These are epileptic discharges that happen in-between ictal seizures.

It’s controlled now if I don’t eat fried food / acidic foods. A better diet can help you feel at least a little better!

If your doctor told you confusing words I can try my best to clarify what they mean.

Thankyou.. This is what was said for my 5 year old.. I don't get any of it..
      When awake Mild
excess of slow wave activity for age
When asleep Frequent bursts of high amplitude frontally dominant generalised spike/ polyspike and slow wave activity..

@@chelsearobson2871 They’re saying that in sleep the EEG showed abnormal spikes that happen at least 1x per minute. Your doctor will likely be able to reduce the number of abnormal spikes & reduce seizure risk with meds. I wish you and your child the best!
