Thank you for the video! Listening to it and areas I understood helped me understand more. I having had Left Temporal Lobectomy in 1997, now being almost 30 years since. I am still having seizures, yet now multiple kinds both sides of brain (previous 2 types) which varies on intensity. Was the surgery worth it?
Thank you for the video new eeg tech trainee here and it’s the measurements that’s I get stuck on thank you for the video
Thank you this experience is valuable
What type of living can a new eeg tech make? I understand it various depending on location and experience but what is your opinion based on your knowledge and experiences?
@@angievasquez8985 $50-$60k to start. Higher if in like New York or Cali
Hi are you self learning ai&ml? what did you do your undergrad in? Is it possible to learn programming from basics to ai/ml all by self learning through online without going to college for cs degree?
Hey Jared, great video . I have a site visit coming up for Labouré . Can you give me a few pointers and good questions to ask during my visit. Thanks
@@tasha.a9730 I recommend shadowing one of their techs and paying close attention so you will get an idea of what a day in the life is like. While watching them, you’ll naturally have questions and will see if this job is right for you
Thanks! Also did you find Labouré program to be challenging? I'm pretty good at science and liberal arts but struggled with math.
@ the math isn’t that hard, you just need to take 10% and 20% of numbers, and learn how to subtract negative numbers. For example 10% of 34 is 3.4. Also -100 - (-50) = -50 It may be helpful to watch videos on those math concepts before starting your program.

Dear jared, can i use eyeblink from eeg to synchronize it with other modalities like image sequences or videos...simply my question is can we use it as a temporal marker also pls what is the ranges where eyeblinks commonly produce.
@@AKSHAYANAND-l8q yes you can use eye blinks as a marker if you want. Blinks are found in electrodes Fp1/Fp2 and high amplitude.
Thanku and keep going dear
nice
Current student and previous monitor, one of the first seizures i could recognize! EEG recognition comes easier to me because of my experience. Surprisingly, im struggling with my measuring more (not so much accuracy, but placement and learning to work with all types of hair and scalps). Coming back to your videos as a student has helped me a lot! Thank you!
@@lacey1714 I had trouble as a student learning to work with different hair types too. I’m sure you’ll get it after enough practice. Thanks for coming back to my channel, I’m trying to post more this year (:
I’ve been a student for a year and half now and it was def challenging for a while, but you’ll get to a point in the future where you can’t believe you used to struggle before !!

Do we measure to the top of the inion? The bottom? Maybe the middle?
You can measure to the middle of the inion. It’s a small area so shouldn’t make a difference even if you did top/bottom, just measure the same way every time for consistent results.
@jaredbeckwith thank you!
hello Jared, your video is very helpful. I'm a Ghanaian with about 5 years on the job training and practice of EEG. I've a degree in psychology and currently pursuing Mphil in clinical psychology. How do I become a registered EEG technologist. Thanks

@jaredbeckwith Thanks, I did the recording and the interpretation was done by a doctor I work with
Hii im a research scholar who starts working on EEG signals and i liked ur contents...can u please give ur opinion about use of eye blink as useful temporal marker instead of removing as an artifact

"Part of life" sounds funny. Who asks you to have children and give them such a fate? This is a rhetorical question.
The current correct term is FUnctional or Dissociative Seizure. No Pseudo or Psychogenic. Please update your video :)

Wait wait wait wait.... Did he say "or take it out"🧐
@@DevinClark-hd2qu some patients with temporal lobe epilepsy have a part of their brain removed to stop their seizures. It’s only done in last resort in a small number of cases where multiple meds don’t work. It takes a lot of time to map the brain beforehand so all vital functions like memory, speech, & movement remain intact
@jaredbeckwith my memory isn't that good have grand mal seizure I've been found in a ditch(lucky someone who knew me walk by) I'm still having seizures on the medicine.
once again you helped me so much in understanding an assignment! Thanks so much. I always look forward to your videos!
@@RuthSmith-r7w Thanks a lot Ruth! I haven’t posted in a while, I should start making videos again. Best wishes 😊
Originally, at 12, I was diagnosed with JME, Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. This originated in the temporal lobe, normally being triggered by stress, hypoglycemia, and my menstruation times/hormonal imbalance due to PCOS. Over time, I'm not sure if I'd say they've degressed, but now I fall into the category of Generalized epilepsy, with chance of SUDEP (sudden unset of death during epilepsy) as I'm also now prone to seize in my sleep. I'm currently taking Keppra, first that's worked in years, but as all medications, it has it's flaws too.
I do my first case on Tuesday. What training do you have?
@@sinful1403 pay extra attention they clamp the artery, watch for slowing on the EEG and alert the surgeon if any changes so they can fix it. I think you’ll do great!
Hi! This is a very usefull video 👏👏👏 I got a question, as I study this as well now😊 If patient had MRI that shows is something wrong with Left Temporal Lobe, PET CT that show abnormality on Left Temporal Lobe and 12 hours Video EEG that is showing abnormalities on the Left and also Right temporal lobe(without a seizure) (diagnosis was Bilateral temporal epilepsy independent) is the patient switable for a surgery? Thanks ❤❤❤
@@georgiana192 thanks for watching! I think it is better to do surgery in cases with the abnormality in only one area
@jaredbeckwith initially doctors said that is for surgery, as on MRI and PET CT everything was on the left temporal lobe. Pt got focal seizures. I am just thinking how accurately a Video EEG (12Hours) can be if that patient didn't have a seizure during the EEG? Thanks!
@ I’ve found for more accurate results 72 hours of EEG is ideal for a long-term study. It is possible abnormalities did not show up on only 12 hours.
thank you !
Thanks for sharing this. This is super helpful!! Is there a cost associated in running a c-corp vs an LLC? I’ve read there are quarterly reporting requirements which you need to hire lawyers for which would mean spending money every quarter even if you have no revenue? @@kaushikwavhal3403 I think you need to do an annual report every year should only be couple hundred dollars. No need for expensive lawyers if you make $0 just starting.
