It's actually observed on Friday from sunset to Saturday at sunset. The jewish calendar is very different to our calendar. In the last few years I've been convinced that it is a good thing to observe the sabbath. It's wonderful to have a day of rest and a day dedicated to prayer and to the Lord.

You're free to do as you feel. But just remember, the Sabbath has been given to "Israel" as a sign of a covenant with God, as a part of the Mosaic Law. We Christians are not under the law or any single commandment of the whole. You can't just chose one of them and obey it. Are you under the Law? No. Why then obey the Law. You're setting yourself under a curse.
Our Sabbath, we Christians, is in Christ Jesus, it's a spiritual rest, not a physical one.
Again you're free to chose any day and rest but please don't keep it as a commandment from the Lord.

Out of the 10 commandments, the fourth is the only one that begins with "Remember" the Sabbath day and to keep it Holy. Because God knew that one day that would be changed. That was a conviction for me. I love keeping the Sabbath, I start it with prayer, a study, praise and worship, we then fellowship at church and close out the Sabbath with a prayer meeting. It's been a blessing in my life.

What really happens in the new covenant was announced by Jeremias in 31:33, that the moral law would be written in our minds and hearts, that is, including the moral aspects of the sabbath day (the fourth commandment in Exodus 20). Jesus even says that the sabbath was made for mankind (Mark 2:27), and that refers back to the creation, when the sabbath was set apart and sanctified as a special day. And there are promises for us if we keep the sabbath, check Isaiah 58:13,14.

Thats why it is written that He did not came to abolish the law but to fulfill it. By fulfill it does not mean to abolish it but rather to bring the promise to completion with a better way to keep the law as Jesus did and not as the pharisees did. The Ten commandments still valid. I encourage everyone who read this to study the bible in its original language Hebrew and Greek so you are not reading the bible with a western perspective. We have to remember that Jesus was jewish and he was born under the law and we have to study how he was able to keep it in its entirety and we must follow that example. Christian's should keep the day of rest...within reason...if there is something that NEEDS to be done then do it. IE if you keep animals and have to save one on the Sabbath do it, or go to thr hospital and be heald...do it. But if it's not absolutely necessary...then rest and leave it til Sunday. The Roman Catholic and Early Christian's in general began changing the day and traditions after the Jewish revolution not wanting to be lumped in with the Israeli Jews and the Catholic church continued to change things later. History repeat...the Israelis reverted back to the pagan Egyptian ways in the wilderness cause it made them feel "safe" and they didn't really trust Moses or God. I’ve recently found your ministry online and have enjoyed your teachings very much. I love your passion and your commitment to the Lord. Anyway i recently came across this teaching and after listening to it i felt to leave a comment and i never comment on these things most likely no one will read it haha but here goes…
I agree with your comments about what we should be doing on the sabbath eg: spending time in the word, family day, no spending money or causing others to work, less time on technology etc. However the link between the 7th day and the sabbath day are intrinsically linked throughout the entire scripture that to take a sabbath on another day is not observing or remembering the sabbath day as God has instructed us but simply a rest day. Sure there are benefits to resting on another day but the blessing is when we obey his commandments. It is an act of worship and showing our love and devotion to God. Its not a salvation issue but the fruit of our salvation. The word says if we love God we will obey his commandments and his commandments are not burdensome(1Jn 2-3, Deut 30:11)
I have been keeping a fri sunset to Sat sunset sabbath for almost 6 years now with my husband and kids. Before this I attended a charismatic church and was a worship leader there. During the last 6 years Ive seen the blessing and protection of God. My 2 older children were baptized in our pool during covid Yah blessed us with our third child in my mid forties to the shock of everyone else around me. Another notable thing that happened in this time was a conviction to leave my job to be full time at home as a keeper of the home (amazing testimony cause i was very career driven etc)
Anyway i have also been quite persecuted because of our change in direction in our faith from other close christians which are also family unfortunately. It has brought a refinement in my faith that i have not thought possible. Its been the hardest thing I’ve endured thus far ( I understand this is nothing of what other have endured in their faith) in my faith walk since coming a christian 20 years ago but I wouldn’t change it i keep on cause ive seen Yahs faithfulness, his love, his grace and his mercy in this journey.
Besides keeping the biblical sabbath we have also let go of the traditions of the Christian faith-easter & christmas for the Lords feasts days instead. The richness and growth in our faith from understanding these feast days are incredible. They are all about Jesus his redemption story and his soon return on his calendar not the gregarian calendar the world follows. Ive come to understand that a lot of what we do and follow as Christians come from the traditions of the roman catholic church. Part of this journey has been understanding church history and why we believe the things we do even though its not in the word of God. I feel like when Jesus spoke to the pharisees way back then he is speaking to the modern church the exact same thing in Matt 15:3 He answered them ‘And why do you break the commandants of God for the sake of your tradition” like the religious leaders of Jesus day have we too set aside his commandments and keeping the traditions of the faith instead following a different jesus.
Jesus warns us repeatedly in scripture do not be deceived…perhaps we have been cause i know i was 😢

      @thesequeiras4003 Saturday is the sabbath.
      Sunday has never been.
The catholic church has people going to church on Sunday for sun worship; even if they don't worship the sun.
The catholic church has confused people by stating Jesus rose from the grave on Sunday, so we should worship Him then...
But, the sabbath is and will always be Saturday. In fact Jesus rested on the sabbath while He was in the grave and rose again the next day.
The people in Israel still to this day shut down their country on Friday at 7pm until Saturday at 7pm.
In the book of genesis, God says that each day is evening to morning. Not morning to evening.
The original Hebrew language the days of the week were day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5, day 6, and the sabbath. Which is what their language translated to English was.
God made the sabbath for man, not man for the sabbath. With that being said, I observe the sabbath by not buying or selling if I can help it. Spending time with God.

In all of the instances where God recounted ancient Israel's failure in keeping His Sabbaths holy, He said they were really rejecting _Him_ . To claim Sabbath keeping is not a salvation issue is equally as deceitful as claiming that the Sabbath is not an obligation. God wouldn't have commanded it if it wasn't a salvation issue.

I hope you realize that the true Sabbath is on Saturdays and start teaching the people this. Jesus even showed us himself the proper way to keep the Sabbath by going to the synagogue on the Sabbath and preaching. It is so important to keep ALL of the 10 commandments and the other ones that Jesus taught us about and the ones that God said would last through all generations, including the ones He mentioned in Leviticus 23. We are to follow Jesus. (Philippians 2:5-11 “In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus”) And Jesus Christ kept the sabbath. To say anything other is to deny scripture. He was without sin and fulfilled the law. Thus to say he did not keep sabbath is blasphemy. Lastly he came to express and teach how to keep sabbath. He did not honor and remember the sabbath the way the Pharisees and Sadducees kept sabbath by following the instructions of Moses. So they accused him of breaking the sabbath. But instead he expressed that you should do well on the sabbath and that it was legal to do good works on the sabbath and he always went to the synagogue to read scripture, teach and do the will of our FATHER in heaven on the sabbath. He taught the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. If you doubt what I say , good. Paul says prove all things and hold fast to all that is true. This is so true! However I think it’s important to note that the Pharisees didn’t necessarily keep the sabbath in accordance with the way Law of Moses commands. The Pharisees were privy to adding rabbinical teachings to the Law of Moses. These were like traditions that they would add to the commandments; they added doctrines of men to the commandment of God ( see Matt 15:9 and Mark 7: 1-12). This reflected in how they kept the sabbath too. They added extra restrictions on how the sabbath should be kept-Restrictions that God himself never commanded in the Law. This is why they hated Jesus, he didn’t adhere to their extra, man-made Rabbinical teachings.

We cannot just 'pick a day' as the sabbath. Scripture tells us what day the sabbath is. Genesis 2:2 says God rested on the seventh day. And Matthew 28:1 says 'after the sabbath, the dawn of the first day of the week'. This is the day Jesus was raised from the dead. He was raised on the first day of the week, which was Sunday. And if Sunday is the first day of the week, then Saturday is the seventh day, which is the sabbath day that God took rest. You can't just make up whatever day you want to be the sabbath :/ Even our calendars still show Sunday as the first day of the week. They are true and correct.

“What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey-whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?” (Romans 6:15-16, NIV).
Some people had assumed that grace meant they could continue in a sinful lifestyle. Paul scorns that idea, saying sin is a form of slavery that leads to death.
But what does Paul mean by “under law” and “under grace”? When the meaning of a Bible passage is unclear, we should first read the context-the verses before and after. That will usually help clear up any confusion. At times we will need to read the entire chapter or even the entire book or how certain language is used elsewhere to see the context.
Interestingly, the epistle to the Romans-the letter that misguided theologians cite the most in arguing that Paul dismissed the Old Testament as being valid for Christians-actually has the largest number of Old Testament quotes that Paul uses to support his teachings! Paul quotes or paraphrases the Old Testament 84 times in this letter-an average of more than five times per chapter!
So it’s nonsensical to argue that Paul in Romans is arguing against the validity or authority of the Old Testament or the laws of God written there. In all, Paul quotes or paraphrases 184 Old Testament passages in his writings (not counting another 83 in the book of Hebrews, which he likely also wrote), and this figure doesn’t include his additional dozens of references to people, places and events in the Old Testament. Who in his right mind quotes from a source as a primary support of his teachings while simultaneously arguing that this source is no longer valid or authoritative? Clearly that makes no sense. (This is addressed in detail in our free book The New Covenant: Does It Abolish God’s Law?)
      What subject is Paul addressing?
But back to the context of Romans 6-what subject is Paul actually addressing? In Romans 6:1-2 Paul tells us: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”
The issue or question he is addressing is simple: Can a Christian who has “died to sin”-by recognizing that his or her sin deserves the death penalty, and has sincerely repented, been baptized as a symbol of burying the old person in a watery grave and been symbolically raised to a new life as an entirely new person now led by God’s Spirit-continue in a life of sin? Paul’s answer is blunt and simple: “Certainly not!”
In no way does grace nullify, invalidate or negate God’s law. As explained in this chapter, God’s law is actually another gift of God’s grace toward mankind-it reveals the thinking, character and mind of God and shows us the way He wants us to live! The longest chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119, is one long hymn of praise and thanks to God for the wisdom of God’s law and the blessings it brings to those who obey it. Grace and law don’t contradict one another, they greatly complement each other!
After the first few verses of Romans 6, Paul goes into a detailed discussion of two ways of life. One is our old way of living that led to slavery to sin, suffering and death (sin being the breaking of God’s law, 1 John 3:4). The other, continuing in Romans 6, is to “die with Christ” (Romans 6:8), accepting His sacrifice to pay the death penalty we deserved, symbolically dying and being buried with Him in baptism, then rising from that watery grave “in newness of life” (Romans 6:4), now “alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:11).
Now living a new life led by God’s Holy Spirit, we are to “not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts” (Romans 6:12), but to “present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead” (Romans 6:13).
      The crux of the matter
Then we come to Paul’s pivotal statement in Romans 6:14: “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
With the background leading up to this, Paul’s meaning is clear. For a Christian, “sin shall not have dominion over you”-because Christians are freed from slavery to sin (from being under sin’s “dominion”) by Christ having died for us and are now “dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:11). Sin no longer has us enslaved. We have escaped its power and its penalty of death.
“For you are not under law but under grace.” Throughout the chapter up to this point Paul has been comparing and contrasting a sinful way of life that leads to death and a way of receiving and accepting God’s gift of grace and mercy that leads to a new way of life that will ultimately be eternal life.
Now he compares and contrasts two very different outcomes. “Under law,” in this context, is referring to being under the penalty of the law-which, as he has mentioned in nearly every verse up to this point, is death. The law required death as punishment for sin. That never changed. What changed is that through God’s grace, Jesus Christ emptied Himself of the glory, splendor, majesty and power that He shared with God the Father and came to earth as a physical human being to take that awful penalty on Himself in our place (Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Peter 1:18-19).
Because of that supreme sacrifice on our behalf and His resurrection from the dead-also mentioned in nearly every verse in this chapter up to this point-we are no longer under the penalty of death, but “under grace.” In God’s grace He has called us to His truth, forgiven our sins by the sacrifice of His Son, and offers us resurrection to eternal life just as Jesus Christ has been resurrected to eternal life.
Paul goes on to explain the only logical response in the lives of those who experience and recognize this great gift of God’s grace: “But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:17-18).
In deep gratitude our response to God is to become “slaves of righteousness”-totally committed and dedicated to our new Master and totally rejecting our old master of sin and death. Thus, being under grace does not mean out from under obligation to obey God’s law. Being under grace means out from under the penalty of the law for breaking it so that we may be empowered with new life to live in obedience to it in following Jesus Christ as Ruler of our lives!
Paul summarizes the point of this discussion in the last verse of the chapter, Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” “Gift” here translates the Greek word charisma, closely related to the word charis, meaning “grace.” And charisma means “gift”-the gift in this case being “eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”-the ultimate gift of God’s grace!

Jesus taught the disciples to follow the 4th commandment- To remember the Sabbath (the 7th day, Saturday) and to keep the Sabbath day holy. Christ was crucified on a Friday; the scripture below is from just after the crucifixion.
    Luke 23:52‭-‬56 KJV
This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Thank you so much for how you explained the Sabbath. My church dissembled because 1 day out of no where the Pastor started preaching on Sabbath and how we are all going to start doing that. Well not everyone was ok with being told be have to do something, we also started getting spoken to as if we would be disobedient if we didn't do exercise Sabbath. We all have gone our own way but gather once a week without the Pastor only because we were told HES NOT OUR PASTOR. He was a good spiritual warfare Pastor, but switched up, in the midst of getting closer to God. The sad things is that we all know there is something wrong with him but he will not speak to us or reach out, he has blocked us. My purpose for sharing is that we are all left with what is right and what is wrong, as we too want to be obedient to Gods word. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

God never asked us to take a day off, Saturday or Sunday. He gave us a day, 7th Day, He never asked us to pick a day , He already blessed and sanctified “A” Day of Rest. He says I am the same…. I changed not. Also heaven and earth will pass away… . by my Word will not pass away. He also came to fulfill the law and destroy it. This is so simple. For every truth of God, the devil has a counterfeit, we see that woven throughout life on earth. This is one of them.

It takes a lot of courage for a Pastor to say that the seventh day Shabbat is still the day of the Lord.
In Isaiah it says that during the 1000 year kingdom of peace all the peoples (incl. gentiles) will worship God on the Sabbath.
Saying that we can choose *any* day of the week as our Sabbath is like saying that Adam and Eve could choose *any* tree in the garden and not eat of it.
Interesting parallel, the tree of knowledge of good and evil was in the middle of the garden and so was the tree of life.
By word count in the Hebrew bible, "the day" is the center of the ten commandments.
The first tablet contains the "love the Lord" commandments.
The second tablet contains the "love your neighbor" commandmens.

We need to know how to tell the time of Yahuah’s calendar in the sky not the paper calendars. If anyone teaches to break the least of these commandments will be accursed. YASHUA kept the Sabbath.
Sunday worship was invented by men.

He gave it to us on His fourth commandment.

Yesteday I asked the Lord to direct me to any verse that he wants me to read. It talked about keeping the Sabbath day. And it just so happened that It was friday night and I could start applying it the next day. I felt God's love for us for giving us the Sabbath day and realised, that we are built to inherently need it, hance all the holydays we created for ourselves and burn outs that are more and more common. Today is my first Sabbath I'm celebrating. Even though I have 30 hours of studying to do till monday. The lord will take care of it.💜

The Holy Spirit has moved you to keep the 7th day a day of rest, and you are correct about the principle of the Sabbath which is not the restrictive burdens added by the Jews. You described Sabbath-keeping well around the 14 minute mark. It is a HUGE blessing! Yes, we are to keep the 4th Commandment for the same reason we keep the other nine. However, we cannot impose our own will over God’s and just choose any day of the week. According to Deuteronomy 4:2, “Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.” We are not at liberty to alter God’s commands one “jot or tittle.” Find any example in which God accepted less than perfect obedience. We are promised the Holy Spirit and grace to cover our imperfect obedience but not our rebellion of doing our own will.
