Who Changed the Sabbath to Sunday? | LHT Presents

  • Did you know that in the early days of the Church, all Christians observed the seventh-day Sabbath?
Something changed over the centuries, and it wasn’t God’s mind. He still commands His people to rest on the seventh day of the week. The shift to Sunday happened as a result of human intervention that God never sanctioned or approved. In this episode of Life, Hope & Truth Presents, Phil Sandilands walks through the historical evidence of the shift. What does it mean for Christians?

      SABBATH TO SALVATION
Jesus is the END of the law for righteousness. Righteousness is acquired by faith, that is, believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. Moses had no laws to give. The laws were all from God. The law of God and the law of Moses are used interchangeably in Nehemiah chapter 8. Men cannot keep or obey perfectly the ten commandments or all 613 Old Testament laws. Justification is impossible if one law is broken while trying to live under the law, that's why Jesus is needed who is the believer's "wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and sanctification (1 Corinthians 1:30)." Justification is by faith in Christ (Romans 5:1) who is the object of perfection. The law or the ten commandments are the schoolmaster that leads to Christ. However, believers are not lawless, but have the moral law of God contained in the New Testament commandments of Christ of which there are 21 sets of 7. For example, Jesus did not say, "Remember the sabbath day...," but said rather, "REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE. According to the terms or Commandments of the New Testament, the sabbath was a Jewish ceremonial law that pointed to Christ and has nothing to with the gospel or the gentiles (see Numbers 28:9, 10 and Colossians 2 16:17), etc.
CONCLUSION: Living under the New Testament is trusting in the merits of Christ (his grace and righteousness) to save you. Trying to keep the sabbath day is a way to trick people to keep the law that they can't perfectly keep. It is stepping on the grace of Christ, "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:16)."
Old Testament emphasis of the sabbath day unfortunately has swayed a large number of people. SDA is the champion sabbath promoting organization in the world today. The main doctrine of Adventism is without a doubt the Old Testament Jewish practice of the 7th day sabbath. This is understood by the following example of one of the Adventist comments made on Facebook demonstrating the emphasis or obsession with sabbath keeping: "The sabbath of creation is God "indoctrinating" you in order to save your sorry soul from eternal death boy." Since they think it's a moral law, sabbath keeping is something that they must do to be saved. The New Testament reveals that it is an OBSOLETE Jewish ceremonial law that pointed to Christ and has nothing to do with the gospel or the gentiles.
Ellen White created an imaginary fear in the minds of her followers about Sunday keeping that stemmed from her book, THE GREAT CONTROVERSY, when there's no such thing as Sunday keeping in the NEW TESTAMENT. She invented the heresy that keeping the sabbath day is a test of loyalty even though there is no obligation to keep any day of the week under the terms or Commandments of the New Testament.
Adventists erroneously call Saturday the Lord's Day. The Lord is talking about the resurrection in Revelation chapter one. It was on that Lordly day (Revelation 1:10), the first day of the week, that he conquered death and took the keys of death and hell. It was so important that without the resurrection there would be no salvation. The church afterwards met on the first day of the week to commemorate the resurrection, not out of obligation, but freely. This was BEFORE Constantine and the popes. We have here another reason why Sunday exceeds in greatness and importance above the sabbath day in the NEW TESTAMENT. Therefore, Ellen White Adventist Sunday hysteria has no basis in truth or reality.

God's Sabbath and Israel's Sabbath are different.
In Genesis Chapter 1 verse 1 - 2 we read, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and covered with darkness while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
Day 1. Then God created light and he separated light from darkness.
Day 2. God created a dome that separated the waters below and above.
Day 3. God made the dry land appeared. He called the dry land earth and the water the sea. He created the vegetation.
Day 4. He created light to separate day and night. He created fixed times, seasons, days and years. He made two great lights to rule the day and the night (sun and moon?).
Day 5. Then God created sea creatures, birds
Day 6. God created animals, beasts and man.
Notice that God's day 1, day 2, day 3 were not depended upon the sunlight or the shadow of the earth that caused our day and night. This is to say, God's day and night are not the same as our day and night which is a 24 hours cycle.
In the 10 commandments, God commanded the nation of Israel to keep the Sabbath rest just as he had rested on the 7th day after the completion of his creation.
Thus, Israel's Sabbath is just a foreshadow of God's Sabbath. It is just a copy.
Now, if we try to keep Israel's Sabbath then it should be from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. However, if we are in Norway, or at the North pole, how will we observe the lengthy Sabbath day during April to August where the sun shines for about half a year?
Also, if we claim to observe Israel's Sabbath, then people all over the world especially the so called Sabbath keepers like the Seventh Day Adventists should keep the Sabbath exactly at the same time the Jews in Israel keep their Sabbath. But this will violate the principle of sunset to sunset in other parts of the world, like Norway. Therefore, it is not possible to keep Israel's Sabbath.
So far we have seen that Israel's Sabbath and God's Sabbath are different. We have also seen that we can't keep Israel's Sabbath too.
But then Christians are the new Israel and Jesus did not come to do away with the law but to fulfill it. So what about the new Sabbath?
Jesus said, come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. What does this rest mean? Is it the same thing as Paul talked about entering God's rest in Hebrews 4 : 1 - 11? Paul said Israel did not enter into God's rest when they entered into the land of Canaan. That is why Paul further said God spoke of another day to enter into God's rest. Paul then exhorted the Hebrews to enter into that rest the day they hear God's voice without hardening their heart. From this passage, we see that God's rest, or God's Sabbath is not about 7 day cycle but about finding our salvation in Jesus Christ.
In the gospel, Jesus said that his Father is always working and likewise he was doing the same. This raises a question of how could God work always but still have his rest on the 7th day? The only logical explanation is that God rested from creating new things but he did not rest from sustaining the things he created already.
Thus, every day (24 hours day of our day) is a Sabbath day for God till he the day he creates the new heaven and the new earth.
And since we are to keep the new Sabbath, or God's Sabbath, of which Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, everyday should be a Sabbath day for us. We have found our rest in Jesus Christ. We don't have to roam restlessly to find rest in Judaism, Islam or Hinduism or Budhism....

They often go out to eat before/after church having people serve them leaving lousy tips and Bible tracts. We are in the world but not OF the world. Sabbath means rest, not Saturday, the day itself. I can rest anytime at any day of the week as long as all the days are God's days with me.

The Catholic church clearly states in many instances it is by them alone and not scripture that they changed it from Saturday to Sunday and also changed it in order to not be like the Jews in any way. They hated that the early Christians were a lot like the Jewish community.

Ask yourself this question: Do you believe that the YAHUAH, the Heavenly Father, would allow the seventh-day Sabbath, to conveniently fall on the seventh day of the pagan Roman Empire’s calendar, which we use today? Remember that it was an 8 day calendar under Julius Caesar... There were NO named days in Genesis, only numbered days.

OK. But no matter which calendar was used, didn't the Jew's who used the numbered system (1 day after Sabbath, 2 days after... Etc) count that way no matter if it was a 7 day calendar or an 8 day calendar? So they always observed the Sabbath no matter what the rest of the world or rulers called it?

@@paulwiederhold7629 Hillel 11 was the one who changed the Shabbat to Saturday, and most Jews know this.
Genesis1:14-15 (A: ii) 14 Aluah said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to divide the day from the night; let them be for SIGNS, SEASONS, DAYS and YEARS; 15 and let them be for lights in the dome of the sky to give light to the earth”; and that is how it was. (the New Moon is the marker for a new month, and the next day starts a new week too, Sabbath should follow the cycle of the New Moon, and there will be a Shabbat at every 7th day; so it will never be a fixed day for the Shabbat). Btw, the new Moon day is a Sabbath also, but not with the same strict rules. We will celebrate the New Moon Shabbat; different from the regular Sabbath) in the Kingdom to come. ISAIAH 66:23
      Excerpt:
"Prior to 70AD the High Priests followed Yahuah's Biblical Calendar. After 70 AD, it was the head or Nasi of the Sanhedrin (a rabbinical supreme court) who determined the calendar; the length of a year, if a leap year was to be added, the appearance of the false 'new moon', if a 13th Month was to added, etc. That person was Hillel ll, who was Nasi between 320 - 385 CE 4th Century."
"In 359 CE, Hillel ll MODIFIED Yahuah's Biblical calendar, to make it easier for the jews to assimilate into the Roman-Christian culture.
The Romans prohibited the Sanhedrin from doing their job, so Hillel ll 'Fixed' all future calendars by incorporating leap years permanently, using a 19 year metonic cycle."
      Hillel ll did 3 things:
"1. He transferred the observance of the Biblical Shabbats from the 8TH, 15TH, 22ND, and 29TH DAYS OF YAHUAH'S LUNAR BASED CALENDAR; to every 7TH Day of the JULIAN CALENDAR. IOW's, Hillel ll changed the Shabbats to EVERY SATURDAY."
"2. This led to him establishing 'The Rules of Postponement', which weren't needed prior to him 'fixing' the calendar. Yahuah's Calendar was perfect. Research this on your own."
"3. He secured the survival of Judaism, however, he fixed 'theshabbatiseverysaturday' doctrine for all time."
"Now, because of Hillel ll, (and let's not forget Constantine l), Hebrew Yisraelites cling to that doctrine as if their lives depended on it. For some you'll have to pry it from their cold dead fingers. But it is a deception, Yisra'el. A deception brought about by the Father of Lies, and his emissaries, the RCC, and the Imposters."
"This is the history behind those who are Dies Solis worshippers, AND those who are Dies Saturni worshippers."
"THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. THEY ARE BOTH GROUNDED IN PAGANISM, LIES, AND DECEIT. THE FOUNDATION OF WHICH IS ANTI-YAHUAH."

@@justthink8952 much of what you said is incorrect.
      1. In creation we see Yahuah not only create all things above, in and under the earth, but we see a 7 day cycle He established as a pattern for all. While yes, He is outside of our time, in the creation account we see Him creating during the day, then there was evening and morning (speaking of the early hours before day)…one day or 24 hour period.
Yahuah rested on the 7th day from all His work. We know that prior to Him writing the commandments on stone tablets with His own hand on Mt Sinai, the Patriarchs, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob were honoring sabbath as well as His other commandments (Gen 18:19 and 26:5).
      2. Israel is a people, not a land. The Bible is replete with making that point quite clear. Yah is the Elohim of no other people group but Israel. So you’re either accepting being grafted in as Romans 11/Ephesians 2 tells us or you’re still on the outside. Yah has rules for His kids to abide by, they’re His commandments and He desires all His children to be obedient from a willing heart.
The “jews” that occupy that land currently are Ashkenazi from the Kazar Mountains in the Caucuses. They are converts to Judaism, not the same as the people who are actual descendants we read of in the Bible. So no, we don’t have to do anything they do…especially considering they reject Messiah.
      3. The day begins at dawn, not sunset. Please refer back to my 1st point…Yah was creating during the day, THEN there was evening and morning. Read the manna account in Exodus chapter 16…clearly distinguishes between “today” and “tomorrow”. Sabbath is all of the 7th day of the week and not the evening of the 6th day to the evening of the 7th day. That practice was brought back to the land after the southerns kingdom’s captivity in Babylon. Babylonians were fascinated with and worshiped the moon…the tribe of Judah/Benjamin brought many of those practices back to the land with them.
      4. Where ever people are in the world, if they are believers and following Yah’s commands, then they should be resting on their 7th day, regardless of when it begins according to their time zone.
      5. Yahusha most certainly followed His Father’s commands, including honoring sabbath. He walked perfectly in His Father’s statutes or else He would not have been able to be our Spotless Lamb. The disciples also honored sabbath. We see some 24 times in 28 chapters in the book of Acts that they were teaching in the synagogue on sabbath.
      6. Bottom line…it IS Yahuah’s 4th commandment. Do we follow all 10 or just 9? Let’s stop making excuses as to why we can’t or shouldn’t and just be obedient. It’s not burdensome (1 John 5: 2-4). When you say His commandments are burdensome you contradict what scripture says.

Sabbath is the 4th Commandment of God written on stone. It is not a rule, an ordinance or statute associated with any side-laws that God enforced on the Israelites, like for instance "you must not eat swine meat". You can not simply omit one and choose to keep only nine Commandments. God warned that anyone who adds to his Word or omits from his Word intentionally will be either added or omitted likewise!

What is more important than changing the sabbath? Salvation... and that is why I observe Sunday as I serve a Risen Savior who Rose from the grave on the 3rd day which is Sunday ... so if u worship on Saturday which is the 7th day then good and if your day of worship is Sunday which according to Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24 John 20 ... is the resurrection of Christ on the first day of the week then that is also not a crime.. the most important thing is that people come to Christ through worship ... they accept and have faith in Him and that He is the Son of God and we will have eternal life if we believe in Him... I believe ... and regardless of the day... there is one true God and He knows all , sees all, and hears all. So what is more important ... worship? Or the actual day of worship?

With all due respect, there are two major problems with what you're saying. First of all, the Sabbath is not actually about what day one worships. No, it's about ceasing from business as usual, namely by not performing servile labor. And, secondly, contrary to what everyone thinks, the Scriptures do not teach that the Messiah rose on Sunday, and for good reason, because He didn't. No, He actually rose at the end of the Seventh Day Sabbath on Saturday.

Indeed! Colossians 2:14 & Ephesians 2:15 are taking about MAN-MADE decrees ("dogma"), and not the perfect Law of God. To be more specific, they're talking about the man-made decree which forbade the Jews from associating with uncircumcised Gentiles (see Acts 10:28). That's why both passages are surrounded by talk of circumcision. That was the "hostility" between the two groups (Jews & Gentiles) which Yeshua "nailed to the Cross".

Well researched and presented, but we must be careful that our convictions are not the cause of another's downfall.
For example Romans 14, whilst speaking in the main about food also speaks about the observance of days - In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose-to be Lord both of the living and of the dead. So why do you condemn another believer ? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God. ’” Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Romans 14:5-13 (NLT)

One VERY IMPORTANT rule of Bible Study... is when you're going to look at ANY SUBJECT (Weekly and Annual Sabbaths, the True Gospel, and so forth), is to look at EVERY VERSE that directly and indirectly mentions them. "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little. (Isaiah 28:10)" Paul writes: "But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:14-17)" Peter writes: "And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, THAT NO PROPHECY OF SCRIPTURE IS OF ANY PRIVATE INTERPRETATION, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:19-21, emphasis added throughout)" In fact, the only thing I would add besides prophecy is any subject in the Holy Scriptures are not of "any private interpretation of man, but... of God." In fact, Revelation 5 compliments this perfectly. John sees a scroll sealed with seven seals that God held and no one in heaven was found worthy to open the scroll and loose its seals. "But one of the elders said to me [John], "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals. ... Then He [Jesus Christ] came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. (Revelation 5:5,7)"

Jesus and His disciples had the last supper aja Passover meal before actual Passover. Typically feast days are Sabbaths or the 1st & last day are a Sabbath. There was Passover then the feast of Unleavened Bread. It's confusing until you really begin studying the feasts and Holy Days. But we shouldn't let that take away from the fact that Jesus died for our sins. Believers should continue their studies and if someone has scripture to support what they are saying, it should be included because Scripture supports Scripture. Shalom

That's simply not true. The reckoning of the 7th day Sabbath has nothing to do with the Moon. Moreover, one can easily see that by reading the beginning of Leviticus 23, which clearly distinguishes the reckoning of the weekly Sabbath from the reckoning of the annual Sabbaths, which do indeed use the Moon.

😢 This subject is nonsensical to the Church age. According to Jewish traditions, you couldn't go any further than 3/4 of a mile. If you did you violated the Sabbath. So, how many today: keep the Sabbath?
The Book of Hebrews says we are sabbathing when we are trusting in God who worked creating this world by His word in 6 days and then rested on the 7th day. In the same context Hebrews said, don't hold one day over another and those feast days were a shadow of things to come.
Paul said we are to fight the good fight of faith. The literal is, that we are to struggle or agonize over faith to claim our inheritance. We rest knowing that God spoke to create our world and rested. We are assured He is faithful in his promises to us if we move under the umbrella of his rest. In a nutshell, the Sabbath is not a day of the week but a lifetime of trusting in God's word. That's why Hebrews said, there remains a Sabbathing for the people of God. Faith is not a one-time conversion but a way of life for Paul in Romans said, we go from faith to faith.

In a nutshell, most of what you said was dead wrong. For example, what do "Jewish traditions" have to do with the Sabbath Commandment? A Commandment, mind you, that God spoke like thunder and wrote in stone? Moreover, Yeshua (Jesus) rejected man-made traditions, and so do I. And, no, Hebrews says no such thing. The Sabbath is one of the TEN Commandments, NINE of which you keep. That alone ought to tell you something. 🤔 Shalom

The Ten commandments was seen in heaven! Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross...
Yeshua-Jesus fulfilled the book of law, the book of law was blotted out. Paul was talking about the book of law, the book of law contained ceremonial Sabbath days, also ceremonial holy days, also ceremonial meat and drink offerings. Those Jews who converted to Jesus, they had no longer to keep the book of law. Those Jews who were against Jesus, they were still keeping the book of law. The Sadducees and the Pharisees were judging those who had converted to Jesus, concerning the book of law. Now It was not the moral law which is the ten commandments. James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. James 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
If Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath day, then why do people reject the Sabbath day? SUN-day worship is of Satan, because Pope Constantine changed God's true Sabbath day of worship. Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws... Mar 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Yeshua-Jesus said that the Sabbath day was made for man. Yeshua-Jesus said also do good on the Sabbath day.
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day. Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
What will happen when the Jews who keep the Sabbath, they accept Yeshua-Jesus? They will simply find a Sabbath day Church!
    V
Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.

We are not under the law so we don’t have to follow the sabbath
As Jesus said I am the end of the law.
Galatians 5: For such freedom Christ set us free. ( That is free from the law)Therefore, stand firm, and do not let yourselves be confined again in a yoke of slavery. (To the law) 2 See! I, Paul, am telling you that if you become circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. 3 Again I bear witness to every man who gets circumcised that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. 4 You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to be declared righteous by means of law; (Which included the sabbath) you have fallen away from his undeserved kindness. 5 For our part, we are by spirit eagerly waiting for the hoped-for righteousness resulting from faith. 6 For in union with Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any value, but faith operating through love is.

Jesus freed us from the old sacrificial laws, these were the laws done away with at the cross as Jesus became our sacrificial lamb, so sacrifices were meant to stop- not the 10 moral laws of the commandments. The moral laws are now written on our hearts and not on stone. There is a blessing from God when we observe the Sabbath which Satan knows full well about that is why he used Constantine a pagan to change the days. 'Sun'day is a pagan day of worshiping the sun god, would God really sanction that day? And if we study the interlinear bible we can see Jesus was resurrected on the Sabbath before it got light- another hidden truth revealed if we study the original scripts.

The apostle Paul had much to say about the laws that God gave to the Israelites by the hand of Moses, but we look in vain for any division between the Decalogue and the other features of the law arrangement. When he stated that “[God] kindly forgave us all our trespasses and blotted out the handwritten document against us which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us, and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake”, he was not referring to merely the so-called “ceremonial law”. How do we know? Because of his argument in the context: “Therefore let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a feast day or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath, for those things are a shadow of the things to come, but the reality belongs to the Christ.” (Col. 2:13, 14, 16, 17, NW) To argue this refers only to yearly sabbaths is to admit one’s case so weak that it is cornered without the slightest proof.
Again, at Romans 7:6 (NW), we read: “But now we have been discharged from the Law, because we have died to that by which we were being held fast, that we might be slaves in a new sense by the spirit, and not in the old sense by the written code.” Only the “ceremonial law”? No. Paul included the Decalogue or “moral law” in this “written code”, quoting the tenth commandment in the following verse. He continued: “What, then, shall we say? Is the Law sin? Never may that become so! Really I would not have come to know . . . covetousness if the Law had not said, ‘You must not covet.’” (Rom. 7:7, NW) Yes, the law from which Christians were discharged included the Decalogue.

We show love by obeying God. John 3:16 says that god gave his only begotten son and then told us to exercise faith in him. As Paul said in the scripture I quoted that obeying the law would not bring Gods favour. Christ is better than the law so we live by faith not by sight.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says But a physical man does not accept the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot get to know them, because they are examined spiritually. 15 However, the spiritual man examines all things, but he himself is not examined by any man.
If you want to obey the law Paul said then you must obey all of it. But you will not be able to and you will remain a physical man never able to understand spiritual things.
Following the law will not help you to answer the important questions of life
1 why does god permit suffering
2 what is the kingdom of god and when did it begin ruling
      3 who rules the world

This is incompatible with NT apostolic faith. It is clear that the early church did NOT observe Sabbath as an ordinance (they did not require it), they kept as a carryover of their Jewish roots and in their mission to other Jews. We can see it right from apostolic doctrine that it was NOT an ordinance; neither did Christ Himself institutionalize it, even though He observed it within the context of His mission to the Jews. In fact, His liberality with it was among His apparent offences in the eyes of Judaism. The apostles observed the sabbath as an effort to reach the Jew, when they turned to the Gentiles, they did not require them to observe the sabbath--any denial of this fact is the Torah Observers/SDA perennial dishonesty. As Christians, we know that Christ Himself is the fulfilment of the Law and the Prophets, thus to keep the sabbath, or any mosaic festivals does not attain any more righteousness, beyond what Christ has made us. If we keep such ordinances it is in observance, by faith, that Christ is the reality and these are merely prophetic and symbolic shadows. If we are reconcilled via the New Testament, then we are made right on account of our faith, like Abraham, whose faith made him righteous over 430 years before the Law of Moses (i.e. before the Sabbath was ever an ordinance). Furthermore, God has NO covenant with Gentiles, except through the New Testament in Christ, which has NO requirement to observe the sabbath. We can worship God on any day, including every day.
For instance, Col 2:16 ¶ So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,
17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

While, at the very same time you're keeping 90% of the very thing that you're supposing was "fulfilled", and therefore should not be kept. Think about the validity of that. And, oh, I said 90% because the Sabbath is one of the TEN Commandments, NINE of which you keep. And, unfortunately, that's only the tip of the iceberg in as far as your errors go.

The LORD said: "work six days and rest on the seventh, it is My day" there is no mention of the names of the days, only numbers - - - let me say this about numbers (math), it is the Lord's language - - - fighting over which day by name should be my sabbath is exactly upholding the creation of pagans

And, as such, that day is _the_ Sabbath day. Not because it's "Saturday", but because it's _the_ seventh day. Moreover, what's the chances that you celebrate the Resurrection of Christ on Sunday? You know, the first day of the week! And, doing the math, that means that Saturday is the seventh day.

    JESUS FULFILLED THE LAW
Jesus does not say no part of the law will ever pass away; he says no part of it shall pass away until it is fulfilled. He says he came to do this very thing, to fulfill it. So, with his coming, the law has been fulfilled and has passed away. We now live under the law of Christ, not beneath the law of Moses. For example, no more sabbath day. The Lord also expanded on the commandments against murder and adultery.
"For the law (including the Ten Commandments) was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17)."
"...A new covenant, he has made the first OBSOLETE... which had the tables of the covenant ( the Ten Commandments)..." Hebrews 8:13, 9:4.
Therefore, the Commandments of Christ, which are the commandments of God in the New Testament, supersede the law of Moses with its Ten Commandments that are called"the ministration of death engraved in stones ( 2 Corinthians 3:7)." The sabbath day is excluded as it pointed to Christ as noted in Colossians 2:16,17, and therefore has nothing to do with the gospel and the gentiles. There is liberty in Christ concerning days as noted in Romans 14:5,6. These scriptures coincide with the fact that there is no commandment to keep Saturday or Sunday. Christians have been meeting on the first day of the week called the Lord's Day since the first century because of the resurrection (see 1 Corinthians 16:2; Acts 20:7; Revelation 1:10). This was BEFORE Constantine and the popes.
An example of one of the Commandments of Christ is when he said, "REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE." He never said to keep the sabbath day.
Some references to the Commandments of Christ, also called the Commandments of God are Revelation 12:17, 14:12, 22:14.
Righteousness is acquired by faith in Christ. "By the deeds of the law no flesh shall be justified." Romans 3:20,28.
"If righteousness came by the law, then Christ died for nothing (Galatians 2:21)."
"For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God IN HIM (2 Corinthians 5:21)." He fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law that mankind could not do.

Jesus said, "Destroy this temple and I will build it in 3 days"
He meant temple to His physical body. He did not say, 'I will raise it on the second day. ii. e the Sabbath day!
They destroyef His body on Friday, He rested on Sabbath day Ib the grave and resurrected on Sunday, today known as Easter Sunday. Thus, in three days, Jesus rebuilt the temple of His Body by His Resurrection as He foretold. He did not calculate # hours. So Why rest not rise?

Jesus made a new covenant. The ten commandments have been written into the hearts and minds of the desciples of Jesus Christ. We who believe have entered His rest..the Sabbath is now every day not just the 7th.. Paul wrote about this controversy... let no man judge you in regard to holy days or the Sabbaths.. some regard one day as holy some regard all. The new covenant justifies and sanctifies a man by faith, not by law. Those who believe Jesus the only Son of God died for sins and rose again from the dead on the 3rd day are purified from sin, holy and righteous.. Zechariah described the outcome of the New covenant , "that we might serve God in true holiness and righteousness without fear all the days of our life. " But those who cling to the Law for justification will face wrath...for no man can be justified by keeping the Law... so falling short , will be condemned to eternal fire..

We are not justified by living God's Law - we are living like the One who died for our sins Jesus Christ (who was sinless) not perfectly, but trying to, we must be overcomers Rev 3:21. God's Commandments are showing love to God and neighbour.

    • @Exodus--bx3dd
      @Exodus--bx3dd 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@mariabarnard4484 Yes love God love your neighbour...but doing this is not justification either...did not Jesus say to the Pharisee who declared loving God was the greatest command , "You are near to the Kingdom" none of us can justify ourselves by deeds , even if you are walking in love.. though noble and righteous does not justify... what does? Our faith...Romans 3:22 -24 even the righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ.. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by fauth , we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
What does all that mean? We believe Jesus is the Son of God, that He redeemed us with His blood, when He suffered the punishment of our sin, Exodus 34:6 , bearing on his back the guilt and punishment for our sins , to the shedding of His blood. That alone satisfies God as ransom for our souls.. Animals sacrificed by men from Adam till the cross depicted the substitute sacrifice for sin Jesus fulfilled..
We are guilty of sin and in the judgement we would be condemned to eternal fire , yet when we heard of Jesus , His death and resurrection we repented and began to follow Him as Lord and Saviour. That is the faith that saves, hearing believing and action.. so you see good deeds cannot improve on what Jesus has already done...our debt to God is now paid in full, by Him with His body and blood, now our debt to the Lord we pay with dedicating our life in this world , to live no longer for sin , but for Him.. This is why love alone cannot save us, must have faith in that Jesus died and rose again for our sins first, then walk in love , that is obedience of faith..Romans 1:5

sabath day is for Jews people not for other believers. we are not under Moses law but under grace of Lord Jesus who finished and fulfilled laws and on cross said it's finished. New testament says many times that Jesus and His disciples attended synagogues on the first day of the week. Now for us every is blessed day for us and Bible accepts one day holiday in a week whichever is, we can do fellowship with God. Nepal and Israel' their week holiday is Saturday and Muslims countries is Friday etc. so any day if we have holiday we can consider that day is our fellowship day and God accept this. we can't select few laws of Moses but all more than six hundred thirteen laws we have to accept and walk according to this. it's impossible to fulfill these laws but only Jesus Christ fulfilled these. please don't distract people from what Lord has commanded.

    • @MK4Hisglory
      @MK4Hisglory 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Friend, you are gravely mistaken. Your comment not only contains contradictions, but blatant errors. The NT says no such thing about the disciples being in the synagogue on the 1st day of the week. The book of Acts alone mentions some 24 times in 28 chapters that the disciples were teaching in the synagogue on the sabbath. You are also in the sin of presumption to say that Yah will accept any day as our fellowship day when He clearly commanded the 7th day to be set apart as our day of rest/fellowship. You ended your comment with "please don't distract people from what "the Lord" (title not a name) commanded.". He DID command the 7th day sabbath be remembered and kept...it's number 4! That itself is completely contradictory.
Please don't speak for an Elohiym you really don't understand. Moses gave Yah's laws, not His own. They were to be obeyed and lived according to because He is a good Father. Not that they couldn't, they wouldn't follow His 10 Commandments, so he gave them the sacrificial law under the levitical priesthood to as a tutor until the Seed of Promise should come. Grace and law are not opposed to one another; grace abounds in the OT just as much as in the NT...grace is given for us to repent from going our own way and come back to His ways. That door is opened only through faith in our Messiah, Yahusha, who came to redeem us from the CURSE of the law...not the law itself (Galatians 3:13). Paul himself says the law is holy, just and good (Romans 7:12).
Yahusha said in the 5th chapter of Matthew, v17-19: "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Have heaven and earth passed? Then why are you even thinking He came to do away with the law contrary to Messiah's very own words? He also said in John 14:15 - "If you love me, keep my commandments".
And again 1 John 3:4-6 tells us what sin is - "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
See, John defines sin as lawlessness. Messiah was manifested to take away our lawlessness and bring us back into obedience to our Father. Look at the last 2 sentences of that passage and put the word "lawless" in the place of the word "sin". "Whoever abides in Him is not lawless. Whoever is lawless has neither seen Him nor known Him.
Lastly, verses 2-3 of the 5th chapter of 1 John tells us how we love our Father - "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."
We love Him by keeping is commandments and they are not burdensome. Please then do not say that they cannot be kept...our Father would never set us up to fail.
I would suggest taking off the lenses of indoctrination of mainstream Christianity, as we've all had to, and read the Bible beginning in Genesis. You will see a beautiful story of Yah and His people, Israel, their rebellion and His plan of redemption through His Son in order to fulfill the promises He made to Abraham, who btw was also obedient to Yah's commands (Genesis 18:19 and 26:5). His people were obeying His commands prior to Him writing them down with His own finger on 2 tablets. It's one story all the way through...Not different people groups. Dispensationalism is a false doctrine.

The Sabbath day (meaning "rest, cease, desist") applies ONLY to the nation of fleshly Israel, who were under the Mosaic Law covenant, and NOT to Christians that are under "the new covenant", for the apostle Paul wrote at Hebrews 8:
"If that first covenant (or Mosaic Law covenant inaugurated in 1513 B.C.E. at Mt Sinai) had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second. For he does find fault with the people when he says (at Jer 31:31-34): “‘Look ! The days are coming,’ says Jehovah, ‘when I will make with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant."
"It will not be like the covenant that I made with their forefathers on the day I took hold of their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not remain in my covenant, so I stopped caring for them,’ says Jehovah."
“‘For this is the covenant that I will make with the (symbolic) house of Israel (or spiritual "Israel") after those days,’ says Jehovah. ‘I will put my laws in their mind, and in their hearts I will write them. And I will become their God (see Hosea 3:4, 5), and they will become my people."
"And they will no longer teach each one his fellow citizen and each one his brother, saying: “Know Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV) !” For they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful toward their unrighteous deeds, and I will no longer call their sins to mind.’” In his saying “a new covenant,” he has made the former one obsolete. Now what is obsolete and growing old is near to vanishing away."(Heb 8:7-13)
At Exodus 31, Jehovah told the new nation of fleshly Israel through Moses: "Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘Especially, YOU are to keep my sabbaths, for it is a sign between me and YOU during your generations in order that you may know that I, Jehovah, am sanctifying you."
"You (the nation of fleshly Israel and NO one else) must keep the Sabbath, for it is something holy to YOU. Whoever profanes it must be put to death. If anyone (or any Israelite) does any work on it, then that person must be cut off from among his people. Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of complete rest. It is something holy to Jehovah. Anyone doing work on the Sabbath day must be put to death."
"The Israelites must KEEP the Sabbath; they (or ONLY the "the Israelites") must observe the Sabbath during all their generations. It is a lasting covenant. It is an enduring sign between me and the people of ISRAEL, for in six ("creative") days (that were some 7,000 years in length) Jehovah made the heavens (or atmosphere) and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and refreshed himself.’”(Ex 31:13-17)
At Daniel 9:27, it says of Jesus as the Messiah: "And he will keep the (Mosaic Law) covenant in force for the many for one week (until 36 C.E.); and at the half of the week (or on Nisan 14, 33 C.E.), he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease (for Jews who become Christians)."
So, true Christians do NOT observe the Sabbath, nor is it required for the Jews anymore, since they are no longer Jehovah's people.(see Matt 21:42-44)

That's simply not true. The Sabbath is for God's people (Israel), including Gentiles who were either grafted into the House of Israel through the Messiah (see Ephesians 2); or those who joined into the family through Abraham (see Isaiah 56).

The Sabbath, as part of the Mosaic Law, was ONLY for the nation of fleshly Israel, as Jehovah God told them at Exodus 16:28, 29: "So Jehovah (through his angelic representative) said to Moses: “How long will you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws ?"
"Take notice of the fact that Jehovah has given YOU (the nation of fleshly Israel) the Sabbath. That is why he is giving YOU the bread for two days on the sixth day (which ONLY the nation of fleshly Israel received). Everyone must stay where he is; nobody is to leave his locality on the seventh day.”
At Exodus 31, it states: "Jehovah said further to Moses: “Speak to the ISRAELITES and tell them, ‘Especially ("especially", Hebrew 'ak, meaning "a particle of affirmation, surely, only"), YOU (the nation of fleshly Israel) are to keep my sabbaths, for it is a sign between me and YOU during your generations in order that you may know that I, Jehovah, am sanctifying you."
"YOU must keep the Sabbath, for it is something holy to YOU. Whoever (among the nation of fleshly Israel) profanes it must be put to death. If anyone does any work on it, then that person (or Israelite) must be cut off (or put ot death) from among his people."
"Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of complete rest. It is something holy to Jehovah. Anyone doing work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. The ISRAELITES must keep the Sabbath; THEY must observe the Sabbath during all THEIR generations. It is a lasting covenant. It is an enduring sign between me and the people of ISRAEL."
At Matthew 12, Jesus showed that the Sabbath was already "being dismissed" for true Christians, for he was walking with some of his disciples far from "his locality (of Capernaum) on the seventh day", so that the Pharisees took issue with them eating some of the grain as they passed through a grainfield.
And the apostle Paul was also far from "his locality (of Syria of Antioch) on the seventh day", being in Perga some 300 miles west "from home" on the Sabbath.(Acts 13:13) So, at Matthew 5:17, Jesus said that he would fulfill the Mosaic Law and at Hebrews 8:13, the apostle Paul wrote: "In his saying “a new covenant,” he has made the former one (the Mosaic Law) obsolete. Now what is obsolete and growing old is near to vanishing away."
At Ephesian 2, the apostle Paul wrote: "At that time you were without Christ (or in an "uncircumcised" state), alienated from the state of Israel, strangers to the covenants of the promise; you had no hope and were without God in the world."
"But now in union with Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have come to be near by the blood of the Christ. For he is our peace, the one who made the two groups (Jews and Gentiles) one and destroyed the wall (of the Mosaic Law) in between that fenced them off."
"By means of his flesh he abolished the enmity, the (Mosaic) Law of commandments consisting in decrees (such as the Sabbath), in order to make the two groups in union with himself (through "the new covenant") into one new man and to make peace, and to reconcile fully both peoples (Jews and Gentiles) in one body to God through the torture stake, because he had killed off the enmity (of the Mosaic Law with its Sabbath) by means of himself."(Eph 2:12-16)
True Christians are under "the law of the Christ" (Gal 6:2), by ' exercising faith in the only-begotten Son of God '.(John 3:16)

Exodus 16:29 and 31:12-17 makes clear that the Sabbath was given ONLY to the nation of fleshly Israel, as part of the Mosaic Law. At Exodus 20, in giving the Ten Commandments, Moses told the Israelites: "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it sacred. YOU (the nation of fleshly Israel) are to labor and do all your work for six days, but the seventh day is a sabbath to Jehovah your God. You must not do any work, neither you nor your son nor your daughter nor your slave man nor your slave girl nor your domestic animal nor your foreign resident who is inside your settlements."
If a person says that they are to keep the Sabbath, them they must keep ALL of the Mosaic Law, including its burnt sacrifices, its sin and guilt offerings, its drink offerings (Num 28:9, 10), including the "goat of Azazel" (see Lev 4:1-3; 16:3, 7-10), having a literal priestly arrangement with its tabernacle or temple with its utensils.
Also, its three festivals (Ex 23:14-17; Lev 23:9-21, in which it "is a lasting statue in all YOUR dwelling places for all YOUR generations" for the nation of fleshly Israel), as well as the annual Day of Atonement.(Lev 23:26-31), as well as baking the "showbread" for Aaron and his sons (or lineage) to eat on the Sabbath, that "is a lasting covenant with the Israelites".(Lev 24:5-9)
At Exodus 35, it says: "Moses later gathered the entire assembly of the ISRAELITES together and said to them: “These are the things that Jehovah has commanded to be DONE: Work may be done for six days, but the seventh day will become something holy to YOU, a SABBATH of complete rest to Jehovah. Anybody doing work on it will be put to DEATH. YOU (or the Israelites) must NOT light a fire in any of your dwelling places on the Sabbath day."
Moses then outlines the building of "the tabernacle with its tent, and its covering, its clasps and its panel frames, its bars, its pillars, and its socket pedestals; the Ark and its poles, the cover, and the curtain for the screen; the table and its poles and all its utensils and the showbread;"
"the lampstand for light and its utensils and its lamps and the oil for lighting; the altar of incense and its poles; the anointing oil and the perfumed incense; the screen for the tabernacle’s entrance; the altar of burnt offering and its copper grating, its poles and all its utensils; the basin and its stand;"
"the hanging curtains of the courtyard, its pillars and its socket pedestals; the screen of the entrance to the courtyard; the tent pins of the tabernacle and the tent pins of the courtyard and their cords; the finely woven garments for ministering in the sanctuary, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons for serving as priests.’”(Ex 35:1-3, 11-19)
At Leviticus 25, it further shows that the Sabbath (meaning "rest, cease") was ONLY for the nation of fleshly Israel: "Jehovah spoke further to Moses on Mount Siʹnai, saying: “Speak to the ISRAELITES and tell them, ‘When you eventually come into the land that I am giving you, then the LAND will observe a SABBATH to Jehovah."
"Six years you should sow your field with seed, and six years you should prune your vineyard, and you will gather the land’s produce. But in the seventh year, there should be a sabbath of complete rest for the land, a sabbath to Jehovah."
"You should not sow your field with seed or prune your vineyard. You must not reap what grows on its own from the grain left after the harvest, and the grapes of your unpruned vine you must not gather. There should be a year of complete rest for the land......."
"You will count off seven sabbath years, seven times seven years, and the days of the seven sabbath years will amount to 49 years. You will then sound the horn loudly in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month; on the Day of Atonement, you should cause the sound of the horn to be heard in all your land. You must sanctify (or make holy) the 50th year and proclaim liberty in the land to all its inhabitants"(Lev 25:1-5, 8-10)
At Deuteronomy 5, Moses gathers the nation of fleshly Israel as they were encamped "on the desert plains of Suph" (Deut 1:1), saying: "Observe the Sabbath day to keep it sacred, just as Jehovah your God commanded you......"
"Remember that YOU (the nation of fleshly Israel) became a slave in the land of Egypt and that Jehovah your God brought YOU out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. That is why Jehovah your God commanded YOU to observe the Sabbath day."(Deut 5:12, 15)
And at Colossians 2:16, 17, the apostle Paul wrote: "Therefore, do not let anyone judge you about what you eat and drink or about the observance of a festival or of the new moon or of a sabbath (which the Jews condemned the Christians for NOT observing the Sabbath, or festivals or a new moon)."
"Those things are a SHADOW (or general outline) of the things to come (picturing "greater things", such as the Sabbath under the Mosaic Law picturing Jesus Millennial reign, see Matt 12:8; Mark 2:27, 28), but the reality (of the meaning of the Sabbath) belongs to the Christ (representing his 1,000 year reign, whereby all who come to "know Jehovah God", John 17:3, have ceased from their own vain works (compare Heb 4:9, 10, in which there is a "rest" for "the people of God", 'resting from his own works' ) and if they pass the final test, Rev 20:12-15, receives everlasting life)."
In the Hebrew Scriptures, commonly called "the Old Testament", the word "Sabbath" is seen some 85 times (as at Isaiah 56, in which it also says that "their whole burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar"), while in the Christian Greek Scriptures, commonly referred to as "the New Testament", is only mentioned 10 times, showing that the Sabbath is NOT for true Christians. So, there is a lot more to the Sabbath than most recognize, and that it applied ONLY to the nation of fleshly Israel "in all their generations".

    Sabbath
SAB-eth equals Rest, cessation of work. (Worship is being obedient to God and giving Him praise)
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou -King James Dictionary
THE SABBATH IS A SIGN BETWEEN GOD AND ISRAEL NOT GENTILES!
And the LORD said to Moses, “You are to speak to the people of ISRAEL and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you. You shall keep the Sabbath because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death. Therefore, the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever. It is a SIGN FOREVER BETWEEN ME AND THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’ ” Ex 31:12-17 (ESV)
And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27-28 (ESV)
JESUS’ POSITION IS THAT WE CONSIDER THE SPIRIT OF THE LAW, NOT THE LETTER!
But you work on the Sabbath, too, when you obey Moses’ law of circumcision. (Actually, this tradition of circumcision began with the patriarchs, long before the law of Moses.) For if the correct time for circumcising your son falls on the Sabbath, you go ahead and do it so as not to break the law of Moses. So why should you be angry with me for healing a man on the Sabbath? Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly.” John 7:22-24 (NLT)
GENTILES ARE NOT BOUND BY THE LAW. BUT IT GIVES US GUIDANCE IN WHAT PLEASES GOD.
For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.” Acts 15:28-29 (ESV)
