  • The Ten Commandments are almost universally accepted as rules to live by. Yet one of them has been thrown under the bus for centuries. Look at the Fourth Commandment-keep the Sabbath holy-with fresh eyes. We magnify what's been forgotten, why it's been forgotten and why it's important to remember.

You're absolutely right, as without God's sabbath day we couldn't know Him. How and when would anyone find or make the time to learn and study and have services without knowing of a separated day specifically made for that purpose.

Sadly, unless you're an SDA or a Messianic Jew, I and a few other believers in my church keep the Sabbath holy but come to Sunday worship because there's nowhere else to go. The thing that really makes me grieve is that we can't tell the church for fear of being ostracised.

Right on, I can't in good conscience follow any of the Laws given to Israel in the Old Covenant, if God gave it to them I'm not going to appropriate it for myself, plus as Christ said he came to fulfil it and it's all about him.

The Sabbath is presented as an identifying sign of God's people in both the Old and New Testaments. Here are key points from each testament:
      Old Testament
      1. Creation: The Sabbath is first introduced in Genesis 2:2-3, where God rests on the seventh day after creating the world. This establishes the Sabbath as a day of rest, and a memorial of creation for all humanity. Mark 2:27-28 (Only the Sabbath command begins with "Remember").
      2. The Ten Commandments: In Exodus 20:8-11, the Sabbath commandment is the fourth commandment. As one of the Decalogue given to the Israelites. It emphasizes remembering the Sabbath day and keeping it holy ,pointing back to creation (v11).
      3. Covenantal Sign: In Exodus 31:13,17, God declares the Sabbath as a sign between Him and the Israelites forever, highlighting it as a covenantal sign.
      4. Prophets: The importance of the Sabbath is reiterated by the prophets. Isaiah 56:2,6-7 and 58:13-14 emphasize the blessings of keeping the Sabbath. Ezekiel 20:12,20 as a sign betweem God and His people and God's sanctification.
      New Testament
      1. Jesus’ Example: Jesus observed the Sabbath as His custom, as seen in Luke 4:16, where He attends the synagogue on the Sabbath day. He also teaches about the proper observance of the Sabbath (Mark 2:27-28, Luke 6:9).
      2. Apostles’ Practice: The apostles and early Christians, both Jews and gentiles, continued to observe the Sabbath. For example, Acts 13:14-15, 42-44, 16:13, 17:2-3, 18:4 shows Paul kept the Sabbath mostly in the synagogues.
      3. New Covenant: In Hebrews 4:9-10, the concept of Sabbath rest is discussed in the context of a physical (every 7th day) and spiritual rest (in Jesus) for the people of God, suggesting the continued relevance of the Sabbath. Also in the New Covenant found Hebrews 8:10 where God,s law, the Decalogue (including the 4th), will be written in the hearts and minds of God,s people (Spiritual Israel). Galatians 3:28-29 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (All Christians are qualified in the New Covenant)
      4. The Everlasting Gospel: As part of the final warning message found in Revelation Chapter 14:6-12;
      a. there is a call to worship the Creator God in the context of the Sabbath command (v7 last part). ...and worship Him that made the heaven, and earth, and the sea and the fountains of waters. (Exodus 20:11)
      b. Revelation 14:12; Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments (Decalogue) of God, and the faith of Jesus.
      5. The New Heaven and Earth: Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
These passages and practices underscore the significance of the Sabbath as a perpetual sign of God's covenant with His people throughout both the Old and New Testaments.

James, worshipping on Sunday and keeping the Sabbath are two different things. Moreover, the Scriptures do NOT teach that the Messiah rose on Sunday, even though you (and pretty much everyone else) thinks they do. Believe it or not, Yeshua (Jesus) died on a Wednesday and rose 3 days and nights later at the end of the Seventh Day Sabbath. And, oh, if you think that sounds crazy, just know that I did as well. That is, until I actually looked into it.

The Koine Greek of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 uses the verb form ἁρπαγησόμεθα (harpagēsometha), which means "we shall be caught up" or "we shall be taken away". The dictionary form of this Greek verb is harpazō (ἁρπάζω). This use is also seen in such texts as Acts 8:39, 2 Corinthians 12:2-4, and Revelation 12:5.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. The Rapture is mentioned several times in the Bible. "Rapture" Latin : "Raptus=taken up" as translated by St. Jerome, who is best known for his translation of the Bible into Latin (the translation that became known as the Vulgate) and his commentaries on the whole Bible. Jerome attempted to create a translation of the Old Testament based on a Hebrew version, rather than the Septuagint, as prior Latin Bible translations used. Millerites hate the term Rapture because it does not fit their narative to keep their congregation ignorant of the Holy Word of God.

You don't assume! Remember Ass -u- me. Yea. About the ten commandments the bible says: Exodus 31:17 (NIV) "It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”
Between the Israelites and God! No one else!
Let me quote a passage from an article the author of which I can't recall but it's not me:
The tradition that 613 commandments ( "613 Mitzvot") is the number of mitzvot in the Torah, first occurred in the 3rd Century CE, when Rabbi Simlai mentioned it in a sermon.
But what about the so-called "Ten Commandments," the words recorded in Exodus 20, the words that the Creator Himself wrote on the two stone tablets that Moses brought down from Mount Sinai (Ex. 31:18), which Moses smashed upon seeing the idolatry of the golden calf (Ex. 32:19)? In the Torah, these words are never referred to as the Ten Commandments. In the Torah, they are called “Aseret ha-D'varim” (Ex. 34:28, Deut. 4:13 and Deut. 10:4). In rabbinical texts, they are referred to as “Aseret ha-Dibrot”. The words “d 'var im “ and “dibrot” come from the Hebrew root “Dalet-Beit-Reish”, meaning word, speak or thing; thus, the phrase is accurately translated as the Ten Sayings, the Ten Statements, the Ten Declarations, the Ten Words or even the Ten Things, but not as the Ten Commandments, which would be ‘Aseret ha-Mitzvot”.
The sign of the old covenant between God and Israel was the Sabbath. God never made the Sabbath a sign for Christians in the new testament. Do you find Christians mentioned in the text? Can you legally enjoin on Christians that which God has not enjoined on them?
The old covenant ended at Calvary with the death of Jesus. When a party to a covenant dies, said covenant ends. In this case it was Jesus who died, and He made that covenant with Israel. Thus the old covenant ended.
As for the so-called “Dietary Laws”. They were ‘ceremonial’ and part of the Old Covenant.
You all need to read Matthew 19:18-19 (NKJV) Acts 28:28, Matthew 19:18-19 & Matthew 22:36-40. This is where Jesus tell us which 'commandments' to keep. The new testament (covenant) never mentions the Sabbath.

No offense, but you've got a lot to learn. For example, there's not one single verse of Scripture that says that the Sabbath is a sign of the "Old Covenant". No, it's a sign between God and His people, be they under the Old Covenant, or under the New Covenant. Moreover, God's people have a name, and that name is Israel. And, that's who you are, if you're in Christ. And, unfortunately, that's only the tip of the iceberg in as far as your errors go. Shalom.

The sabeth was changed by Rome to Sunday. This is because Rome decided to make sure Daniel and Revelations come to fruition. It was one of the first steps that led to DEI. Did you know DEI has a godless monument. It was built 5 years after "Logic Train" was published in 2010, written by Richard Campo. Page 12 describes an upside-down "triangle" made out of concrete and balanced on a very pointy tip. The word "pyramid" was not used out of respect for the "foundation-symbol" on the back of the dollar bill. Also on page 12 it is touched on that 13% of the population votes 95% democrat. Obama had page 12 built and made it an "African History Museum", located in Washington DC next to the White House. The "African History Museum" in DC is a monument to "excuse" based on Sigmond Freud. This to is explained on page 12. Your mother didn't love you. Remember when Obama was running around saying "you didn't build that".

7th Day Adventists get some things right. They are badly mistaken about the Saturday Sabbath, however. ✴ _Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ._ (Colossians 2: 16-17; NIV)

The correct translation is "Let no man therefore judge you ......... but the body of Christ" (KJV - "is" is in italics). Col 1:18 and 24 tell us what "the body of Christ" is. It is the Church. Paul is instructing these Gentile Colossians that they shouldn't let anyone tell them what to observe, or how to observe, except the Church. As many NT books show, Jews were trying to adversely influence Gentile converts, and so Paul is warning them against that.

Hmmm, actually -Scripture never blurs Jesus Christ's identity into and/or replacing the fourth commandment. Those believing that Jesus is their Sabbath rest, often distort passages such as Matthew 11:28 where the word "Sabbath" is noticeably absent.
Notwithstanding the apparent oxymoron of Jesus furnishing rest by eliminating a rest period, additionally, the word "Sabbath" is always used to designate a day -not a person (cf. Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:42; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4 etc.)
Moreover, the New Testament actually upholds Sabbath observance. Notice, "It is therefore the duty of the people of God to keep the Sabbath" (Hebrews 4:9, Aramaic Peshitta).
This passage is also rendered, "Therefore, there remains a seventh day rest for the people of God" (Hebrews 4:9, The Jerusalem Bible).
I do agree with one statement you made however, that we should worship God seven days a week. But technically, that’s unrelated to ceasing from our labors “as God did from His” (verse 10).

‭‭Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬ ‭CSB‬‬) kindly show me where the Sabbath was a disputed matter to early Christians? It was not. So we know verse 5 cannot be talking about Sabbath when it says "men esteem days" so what is it talking about? First, I would like to point out that it was never man who esteemed Sabbath, it was God, so when Paul says not to judge a man who esteems one day over another it would again not make sense for this to be referring to Sabbath. Now in context what do we see being discussed? We see food, and we see two options "eating" or "not eating". Read these verses again considering "unnecessary days of fasting" as the days which men were esteeming. Everything falls in to place and it makes perfect sense with the rest of scripture. Notice in verse 6 Paul puts "observing the day" in opposition to "eating" so if "eating is equal to not observing the day" we can deduce that "not eating is observing the day"... and what is a day where you are not eating? It is a "day of fasting".
You do not get anything about Sabbath out of this text without reading your own views into the scripture. An exegetical examination of this passage makes it self-evident that this is discussing fasting.

Jesus hated churches, they pissed him off so he preached in the hills and the streets amongst the poor, crippled, and disillusioned by the Pharissis. The "Sabath" is a Jewish thing and "Sunday" is a Christian thing to remember the last supper and sacrifice of the Lamb; a day of brotherhood and breaking bread. Sabbath is Jewish and if you read Colosians 2, 16;17 you will understand the difference. "Saturday" is not the Jewish Sabath, Saturday is the day to worship the Roman god Saturn. Jesus worked on the Jewish Sabbath because he changed it all to make it possible for anyone to enter heaven. Sunday is not the "Sabbath", that is a Jewish tradition not a Christian one. Christians should worship Jesus any day of the week with fever and praise starting on the 1st day of the week.
