This is the truth! I have a gift for charming cats that don't like or are afraid of people. Even so, not every cat is gonna love me. Sometimes the best you can hope for is tolerance.
ugh, yes, please someone say something uplifting here. i was against getting a cat because i didn’t want to get attached to a creature and then have to watch him become decrepit and disappear. despite my objections, we have a beautiful Siberian, and i love him more than i thought i could, but i know sooner or later that other shoe will drop; it haunts me.
I farewelled my nearly 19 year old Tabby boy Indi a week ago and there’s no denying the inevitable sadness and grief of losing a beloved pet. I’m comforted by the fact that I gave Indi a loving home and the best life a cat could have. In time I will get another kitty (a senior shelter cat) they’re great companions, so many cats need a home and give so much love in return. 😻🐈🐈⬛😻
Auhhh,,,, One of my cats is 10 nearing 11, I try not to think about it but I fear for when the dreaded day comes. I do make the most of our time together 😔 so unfair how little time we get to have
@@doctaflo I specifically adopted an elderly cat (his personality is the polar opposite to the grumpy little miss in this video.) I wanted to give a cat a place to retire too and live out their autumn years. I know my time with him will be short, but every day he lets me know he how much he appreciates me giving him this opportunity. And every day with him is better than the last. If you want to adopt a cat, consider adopting an oldie, you will never regret it.
My grandma had a cat exactly like this, who hated every living being, particularly kids, but loved my grandma. However when the cat got really old, around 18 years of age, he switched completely and became the most loveseeking cat ever and would accept pettings and cuddles from everyone. He died at the age of 21.
@@MegaGeorge1948 yeah indeed it is. I find it baffling that one of my older uncles, played with that cat when he was a child (and he is also part of the reason why that cat wasn't fond of kids) and I knew the cat aswell when I was a kid. It actually had to be euthanized in the end due to some sickness aswell as my grandmother couldn't care for it much due to her own illness. Otherwise the cat would propably have lived even longer!
My grandma thinks her cat is like this and I'm like uhhh no when I stay over there, which I increasingly am doing as my grandma nears 100, her cat is a snuggler
😂 We had a mama cat who hated " outsiders " . My dad loved her ! He was like , " why didn't I get a cat sooner " ? She lived 21 years and my dad was happily , company free , for most of them.😂😁😍
Mine, I named Sassy. She didn't like anybody but my family and me. She would run and hide from everyone, especiall my in-laws. LOL She was with us for 17 years before crossing Rainbow Bridge. I really miss my fur baby.
My heart melted when you said you are getting sad that she's getting old. I know exactly that feeling. Relax, she's got a few more great grumpy years ahead. Thanks for sharing you're story. I'm 62 and just got my first kitten. The kitten was a present for my dog to keep her company. As a former 'non-cat' person, I love my cat. She's now the boss of the household.
Cats have always been my favourite animal. Last ones I owned was in 1987 and I travelled around too much to own another. I'm now 62 and the proud owner of a brother and sister kitten duo, now 7 months old who have transformed my life for the better. I too am concerned about losing them but I have decided that at 62 its about 50:50 who goes first.
A friend of mine described how many small dogs she had, the breeds, and told me she also had a cat. Then she asked which one I thought was boss of the house. I said “the cat, of course”. I was correct.
It's these kind of cats that are very difficult for shelters to get adopted,so thanks to you, your husband for giving this curmudgeon kitty a loving home 🧡
your cat is so adorable and gorgeous. She is a miracle and you are blessed by having her. thank you for your kindness and for saving that angel from shelter.
I had my cat for 21 years. She never was grumpy when she got older. She became more loving and attached, except in her last few days. Animals know when their end is near, they try to be alone and die somewhere. She still tried to always get up when she saw me, even though her body had issues laying down and getting up without pain. Man It's been over two years now and I still miss her
I adopted the sweetest little orange tabby kitten who had the sniffles. Leads than6 months later he was dying in my arms at the vet. He was very sick and would never get better. So, I planned to wait a year before getting a new pet, but I was lonely after Chester died so I ended up adopting a strange grey and white tabby kitten who doesn't allow me to hold or cuddle with her. She rarely let's me pet her... In fact I will be bitten or scratched if she sees my hands get to close to her. YET.... she sleeps in a little pink cave bed beside my pillow every night, as long as she's not under my covers snuggled up with my legs or feet. She has definitely bonded with me. I feel like her mama. She was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and given Prozac. But it was more traumatic trying to make her take the dumb strawberry flavored medication than it is dealing with her quirks. Although I admit, I sure would love a cat to snuggle with me.
It's something you never truly get over, but it does get better. I still cry sometimes for my beloved dog I lost in 2007 and the pony I lost 40 years ago. God bless you ❤️
Awwww. I am a new cat mom. Never had cats ever. A total dog person. But I fell in love with a feral that I was feeding. Took her to get fixed and now 5 months later, she’s never left my house since. She’s like your cat, she only likes me. That’s it. No Interest In any other human or animals. She doesn’t do the stare down, but if I have company… she gets EXTRA lovey dovey to me and constantly meows at me like “why are they in MY house”. Im hooked. I love her soo much and she reveals a little more of herself as she becomes more comfortable. Definitely have to earn a cats trust, but once you do… the bond is unbreakable. Love your story… I wouldn’t call your cat “grumpy”…but more … set in its ways. It knows what it wants & has no issue letting it be known. Sooooo flippin adorable. Hugs to you both #catMoms🥰
My cat is just like that he's a funny lil guy every time we try to take pictures he gets in the worse positions. He learned to say no recently and he loves to mess with my mother and its honesty adorable. He gets so angry when we touch him like a teenager but he also demands our attention alot.
You fed cat , gained her trust and then fixed her. Why you fixed her? Pretend you are God or fair trade ( in your opinion) for food? Did you ask cat’s opinion?
My wife's Maine Coon cat passed away two years ago, age 17. She was also called Fluffy and behaved in much the same way. She loved my wife and tolerated me.
if a creature thats 20 times your size, fully extends the fingers and puts it under your belly to shake it more than a rollercoaster does to you, you d be grumpy too.
My cat is the same haha she will sometimes go to get pet by my dad then as soon as he bend to pet run away like "who tf you think you are "xD. I think we should respect when cats don't want to be around others. Its not like the animal is attacking without a reason so just respect his space
Every cat picture on lampposts of missing cats here in Bristol are ALL, WITHOUT EXCEPTION MICROCHIPPED ! I have even seen a dubious character STEALING and taking a cat away after locating a signal from a microchip on a cat. This particular person is also a dangerous and violent man !
So true! We were adopted by two cats just like Aurora, they even look similar. They like some people, but the do NOT like other cats. Including each other! But hey, we're all family & there's no guarantee that family members under the same roof will like each other! We just love them & try to make sure that they get equal attention from us. 💕😻
@@bluesummers5051 YES, the husband is a real keeper! God Bless both parents of this 'grumpy fur baby'! Animals are not cut from the same cookie cutter. They have a range of feelings and everyone should respect those feelings... as do this wonderful couple who accepted her and adopted her and LOVE her!
The following has always worked for me - Never be over friendly with a cat that doesn't know you. Don't rush to pat it or pick it up. Acknowledge the cat in a gentle manner so it sees you do it then ignore it. If it wants, the cat will come to you. If it does, some gentle non- intrusive encouragement. If not, no biggy. I've found that within a reasonably short time, I end up with the cat on my lap 😁😁
My dad always says he doesn't like cats, but, it was funny when ever we went to somebody's house that a cat(s) he would get all of the cat(s) attention. I guess they were fascinated with human that wasn't calling and trying to pet them.
My friend had a big mean cat, but it never in its life was mean to me and they'd always be surprised by how eager he was to sit on my lap and get pets. I have a cat now that's kind of the same way, it's mostly just pet aggression and the easy way around that is to only pet them where they want, usually the cheeks and chin and absolutely nowhere else, especially not the tummy 😂
@@John-- That's exactly right 😂 One cat I had ( that could play tiggy with me and loved it) did not love a tummy rub. If he was sitting on me and didn't want any pats or pats in certain places like his tummy, he would give precisely two warnings. A firm paw tap, a firmer paw tap with claws out a bit and, if you were silly enough to keep going, he would then draw blood, jump off and stalk away with his tail well and truly twitching. Was known to follow this up with some dirty looks. I adored that cat. I could wear him as scarf mood permitting. ❣️❣️❣️
My little Olive was just the same. Except with children. She tolerated them all but she even really loved a couple. She had a particular ability to connect to people on the spectrum. One of her best kid friends spent hours of summertimes bonding chatting and sharing time with my Olive… Kids running back and forth in sopping bathing suits flinging random toy flotsam to and fro… There they were, a peaceful quiet oasis of their own (sitting together SMACK in the middle of the doorway because that’s where the sunbeam for her to sprawl was best) I have some beautiful photos. I always thanked him for taking the time to appreciate her and loving her. 🦋And I couldn’t say it enough to him and his family “she REALLY loves him!” Lol bc I couldn’t believe their bond. It was unprecedented and beautiful I’ve never seen her like that but with us! She was my heart 🌷💔🌷✨✨✨ Little fluffy angel. With the eyes that looked sooo judgy and the growly meowsies of her. Bless her🌱
I had a cat like this...very cuddly and affectionate with me, but would give anyone else what I called the "may I help you?" stare. It was adorable because with me he was a kitten at heart: loved to play and could even be silly at times. With others, he had a serious stare and acted like the palace guard and ruler of the house!
Yep, a previous cat of mine made it to 22 but it's still not enough time! I wish our pets lived as long as we do because losing a beloved constant companion is one of the worst things you can go through, and you have to do it time and time again. I miss them all every day.
@@nessiferum6200 I agree. We lost our dog Buddy in 2018 and our cat Sassy in 2019. He was 13 and she was 17. I sure do miss them. Now I have another dog that is also named Buddy (named by my nephew) and another kitty named Misty. But they don't take the place of my first 2.
I had a cat like that, she had to take bi polar meds bc she was incredibly affectionate with myself and my sister but hated everyone else and was territorial (which is fine usually) but she would purposefully get herself cornered (by sleeping in closets, hanging out in the high traffic hallway between rooms ect.) and then refuse to move and then would attack. This made like incredibly difficult for other household members to even live in their home. She was getting worse with age. Finally a vet suggested meds and poor cat calmed down and was much more confident and was hanging out on cat trees instead of cornering herself on furniture or small rooms.
@@firstandlast4435 Well I am a human and that is a cat, and often human meds are toxic to pets. but I know what bipolar meds are out there for both humans and pets, and they are basically the same
Love her name! Aurora. Aurora is a gorgeous senior citizen. It’s fine she doesn’t warm up to strangers or family members. This girl dances to the beat of her own drum. 🐈⬛ ❤️👏🏻
She's adorable no matter what her bad habits are and I know the feeling of loving animals like there ya own baby because I have pets myself and nobody could ever compare to them,I don't have children but my 2 dogs and cat are my baby's and my whole life,I'd literally give my life for them ♥️
the smarter the cat, the more they pick up on their human's cues: if this lady cringes and says to people, as they reach out to the cat, "Ooh, no, I wouldn't touch her!", kitty absolutely picks up on that reaction, and becomes wary, right away. Seriously, cats learn by imitation.
What a sweet baby - with an "I dare you" side! Mine looked so much like her, but gray. He grew to 17lbs - and pulled the same "stranger glare." Keno also had a huge change purse (primordial sac). People would come over, and he would stare and sort of growl. That stare! He cornered adults in fear. "Why is he looking at me that way? What does it mean? How high can he jump?" 🤣 He was a snuggly baby, but only with me. Sorry for rambling. ) Thanks if you read this.
I had a kitty like this🤣 He hated outsiders, especially young children. We’d have to put him away when my young cousins came over. Otherwise, he’d chase them around the house while they’d scream, “CAT! Get the cat, get the cat!”🤣 He never hurt anyone. He just wanted them know his wrath and fear his mightiness.💕
The cat's floppy belly is called a "primordial pouch" I once had a cat who also didn't like guests. She earned herself a "ferocious cat" label on her vet record because she ran out of patience and started slashing during exams. She was the sweetest cat around me.
LOL! I love that little "me--ew." She has a unique personality, like all cats. And, very independent. But, the relationship with the female owner is so precious. The cat is very affectionate, and smartly cautious. Because sometimes humans can be cruel. Glad she found the right family.
@S. G. That belly has nothing to do with weight. I had a cat with an incredibly saggy belly and he was always underweight despite out best efforts. He just wouldn't eat more than a certain volume in a meal.
@@limiv5272 The primary purpose of this abdominal flap is to protect a feline's sensitive lower belly during fights with predators and other cats-particularly from that adorable yet ferocious secret weapon, the “bunny kick.” In a serious skirmish, the primordial pouch shields vital organs from sharp tearing claws
I love dogs, but I've definitely always been a cat person literally since I was born. I think they're the cutest things on this earth and they just have always comforted me.
The cat I had years ago, beautiful sleek black and white male, in his prime was 10kg (approx 22 lbs). He was huge! A very dominant personality. He would lay on the footpath in front of the house waiting for people to pass by. If they didn't stop to pat him, he'd give their ankle a swipe with his claws. Became quite well known in the neighbourhood. I had to grab him of the road on day. He had forced a car to stop. He wouldn't get off the road. Then proceeded to wander around it. The guy driving thought He was hilarious. I had to give him mild sedation before going to the vet. He HATED any vet. Would turn into a feral spitting, hissing, screaming, scratching, biting crazy. Usually took vet, 2 assistants and me to get him under control. Always took a few weeks for my wounds to heal. First vet we saw, once the cat was an adult, was very worried about his behaviour.thinking he acted same at home. He never displayed that side of him on his territory. He just hated the vets.🤣
Funnily enough, our next kitty was the exact opposite. Very, very shy. Visitors never saw her. She reached a whole 3kg max. We lost her in 2020 at nearly 20 y.o. 😢 Still miss that cutie.
Kudos to kitty's confidence, and a funny situation, but omg that would have me worried sick to know my cat would stop in the middle of the road when there's a car coming. Maybe you mean a small residential street with light traffic, but still. Any time I see an animal in the road I feel very grateful for good eyesight, but worry about what happens when others who don't see as well or aren't paying attention are driving. You're lucky that guy noticed and had a good sense of humor about it. If I saw my cat do that, he'd be supervised outside after that. Maybe on a harness. I also wanted to say, I do know what you mean about the vet. It's amazing how one could be so shortsighted as to fail to realize that the cat could behave differently at home! Even when you go to the doctor, they know some people have "white coat syndrome" and their BP goes through the roof when they're at the doctor, merely *because* they're at the doctor and stressed about being in a clinical setting. I once had a cat who survived a canine attack and dragged herself back home but was unable to walk properly with her back legs after the attack, and one of the vets had the nerve to suggest that she couldn't walk *before* the attack... because she was overweight. And she wasn't even _that_ overweight, although she weighed more when we first took her in, but had lost some weight as she became more active. She was a big fluffy Maine Coon. They are generally quite large cats. But especially at a time like that, in an emergency, I found the insinuation to be not only absurd, but offensive.
Haven't met a cat that loves 'em vets ...but again, each cat shows it differently...my grumpy cat will growl ferociously at the vet but she saves the scratches for my hands....
I've had 12 plus cats over the years and 3 of them had the grumpy cat syndrome☺️. They were also the most hilarious. Their curmudgeonly nature made me love them so much. I miss them so much too! 💖
My cat isn't afraid of guests either. He doesn't get aggressive but when people come over he usually goes up to them and does the stare down. He's cool with my friends petting him.
We have a cat in my family much like her. We rescued her and her five siblings and her poor scruffy mother after someone threw them away on the banks of a local river. We got them all healthy and adopted out, except Boo Boo. She was a hissy, spitty baby. So of course, she was my favorite kitten. She became my daughter’s cat, but has now returned to us since my daughter travels for work. And she rules the other four cats. And my heart! 💗💗💗
Aurora is guarding you from potential enemies. That knee high tiny ball of love would fight off a bear, a crocodile, a dog and even humans to protect her family. There’s 100’s YT videos showing cats doing that to protect their loved ones and Aurora is doing that too
Your description of her is spot on with my first cat. Everything you said, I was like "Omg, that is sooooo Cookie!!" Including the large primordial flap. She was literally the best cat EVER.
My son had found a black kitten under my car playing with my cat (25 years ago). I scooped him up and took him to bed with me that night because I didn't want my other cat to hurt him. I had Max for 16 or 17 years. He was my buddy. He didn't like anyone else but me and my son. Lol
And from Austin. Love, love, love Austin. Lived there for 25 years and moved to Tucson. Why? One of my impulsive decisions before I was fully grown. Have an all black cat including then nose, the whiskers and paw pads, but the eyes are demandingly bright green. He is a reject from a druggy family, had his claws removed and was beaten over the head when he bites. I like to fix broken everythings, so he kept pounding my door to get in, just like a little drum. Well, I did. I now leave the door open about an inch, oiled the sill of the patio door and he uses his nose and head to come in. I blocked the rest of the door with a wooden stick. BUT, surprises are frequent, presents that is. From little snakes, to geckos to whatever he can catch, lands in my bed. The present of the day!
Over the decades we have had ten cats (two of them are still here). They were all different in looks and personality but the were all lovable. I can understand this woman's love for her babies, human and furry. Cats can live well over twenty years. This little one has her share of quirks which add to her charm.
I love this film. She is so like my Lolli who is also a bit unsociable but loving when she wants to be loved. Mine will bite me occasionally if she gets over stimulated. I love the way you have added pictures in with the motion shots, it’s a really good watch.
I live for my time with cats. Big or small. Love them all! Got 7 at the moment, and we share a very tiny space. They are excellent at reading people and keeping critters away. Each cat has their own personality, just like people. I'm glad this woman has a good bond with her grumpy face cat. She'll be around for more years, of this I am sure. My grumpy old lady cat is going on 14!!!
I had a cat like this, hated every human except me and my then boyfriend. He had some cat friends in the neighborhood but otherwise just like your grunpy cat. Once, he showed his displeasure at a guest by walking around her in circles and then jumped up, lifted his tail and sat his little butt on top of her purse in case there was any doubt about what he thought of her.
I have a cat exactly like her, same fluffy lilac fur and floopy pouch, same scowl, same tiny meow lol Pixi wants so much love but hates everything, I feel so lucky when she comes for snuggles
I had a great cat when I was growing up. Her name was Susan Marie. She was a complete princess who gave off a very snooty attitude towards company. She never bit anyone, she just had an attitude. But here’s the best part. Since she hated company in the house, she would go up to every single visitor and seriously smell their feet. Then she would gag and make a hissy face which embarrassed everyone so much I swear it kept them from coming over!!! She did however mellow out in her old age and lived to be 20.
I had a cat just like that. Hated everyone except her family. Twenty one special years with her. I miss her every day and know she is waiting for me on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
What a pretty cat. This reminds me of how my old cat Sasha would react to my mom. My grandmother was the one who owned her, so my mom would only interact with Sasha when she came by to see me, or pick me up or drop me off. When Sasha saw my mom, she'd actually come up to her, and try to _bite_ her ankles. Sasha also had a habit of biting my grandmother, either when she was bored or if my grandma would tease her (which was often). Pretty much once or twice every day that I visited I'd be in my room, and I'd hear "Ow!" followed by my grandma arguing with Sasha about biting her. All Sasha would do, if I were to stop petting her for example, would be just smack me with her paw. Weird, but I loved and still love in memory that sweetheart of a kitty...
Aww my oldest cat is like her, grumpy😁 I’m also the only one who can pet her and carry her around. She’s not as affectionate like my 2nd cat, but she loves to sleep on my bed. She sometimes give me love bites if I’m lying down before her, meaning I need to move and make room for her🙄😂 She only rubs herself on my leg if she’s hungry and ready to eat. I got her a month after my dad passed away and now I love her and can’t imagine my life without her❤️
i agree with what she said about cats being great companions. If they love you and you have their heart, they will DEFINITELY steal yours! my late cat, she was my best friend; she was the most loving thing, her love for me was unconditional. It was real hard to lose her!
I always thought I was a dog person. A reptile person actually most my life, but my wife introduced me to cats and I've come to love and appreciate them as these most amazing, loving, smart animals they're so incredible and intelligent. Oooh I'd be remiss if I didn't mention rats, I know it seems opposite to a cat lover but rats are INCREDIBLY loving little creatures you can even teach them to go to the bathroom in a main space. If you want a tiny dog or cat, get a rat they're awesome.
The last "emotional support animal" I owned was a Yorkie, and it was more like I was his "emotional support human". He passed away recently. But thank goodness for Tildy, my 2 yr old Maine Coon cat. She is so intuitive to me and my moods and welfare. She's always been loving, but I recently had a bad three days with my asthma, when I couldn't get the proper medication I needed due to an idiotic hospital E.R., but that's a whole other story. So, during that time, I had to lay in bed and not move, just trying to keep my anxiety to a minimum. Usually, she sleeps on my bed with me, beside me in her 'soft spot' which she knows to stay in (her long fur will trigger my asthma if she snuggles under my chin). So I finally dozed off late one night, and woke up later than usual the next morning, to find her laying scooched up next to me as far as she could get without being in my 'breathing space', which she seems to understand is neccessary. She was just chilling there staring calmly and watchfully at me. She's never done that before, and hasn't since then. And usually, if I'm not up by six or seven in the morning, she will prowl around me meowing and jumping on and off the be to signify her displeasure. She truly is my emotional support helper, calming me down when I'm having anxiety, and coming to me just to be near me, even if I can't pet her because of her long fur that just flies around the room at the slightest touch. We are truly a pair. It's just her and me. She doesn't really like or tolerate anyone else. I rescued her from an apartment parking lot across the street. I and the residents that helped me capture her think that her owners moved and just left her there. She always laid in the same exact spot, like it had been her owner's parking spot. So sad. They could have at least dropped her at a shelter if they couldn't care for her anymore.
While growing up in this world. I have gotten the chance to grow with many cat's. All with really different personalities. But one was the absolute best. It's been about 20 years and still remember her. I miss her "Smokey" 🐈
Aurora is such a beautiful girl. Her "stares" are just too hilarious! I am helping out my neighborhood cats and trying to adopt out the babies, also trying to get my county to work with me to trap and alter then release the community adult cats. You are just meant to be with your grumpy lady. This video made me both laugh and cry. Good job, Mom!
Thank you so much for your work helping homeless cats! You are a saint and the cats you help are fortunate to have you there for them. We feed neighbourhood cats and work with Cat’s Protection to get these kitties spayed/neutered and homed. 😀👍🏼
I know a person who was literally locked out her house by her cat. She said it was an accident. Well, her cat would never let her in, in the first place.
... and it is a wonderful world and an honor to be allowed to participate! (years ago, in the house we had a dog, 2 cats and 0 problems! for a while, unfortunately too little, even a crow).
I have a rescue I took in after my neighbor raised her outside for a year or two. He moved and left her and I didn't have the heart to leave her outside. So we went to the vet and she is a permanent indoor cat that loves me, my family and dogs. However, if someone unfamiliar comes over or knocks at the door...she either growls at them very loudly or gets the high ground and stares them down all day. lol
That's what I was saying. Once you get a cat they will love you and you'll get addicted to cats. She's so adorable, her eyes are so green. Like who wouldn't want a cat to just sleep on your chest.
She is beautiful 😻😻 I can't blame her for not liking other humans!! You don't know what this precious girl went through before she found her forever mommy 😻😻
Awww he’s a gorgeous kitty and looks very similar to the cat we rescued . He is also not overly friendly with new people and being honest I do think he’s not that bothered about us either 😂 he gives me a look that says “ I will tolerate you human as long as you keep feeding me “
I had the cat that was the exact reverse. King Mo as we called him would greet ANY visitor Human or Animal and then go back to what he was doing. He was so good at greeting that one of my Dad's friends that did NOT like cats would always pet Mo when he visited!
Incredibly relatable story - my first cat only tolerated me and (sort of) some of the other people I lived with. She was a master grump. People would visit and I had to warn them not to touch her even if she seemed okay with their approach. One time a friend grabbed her and picked her up before we could warn him, and we all held our breath until he put her down. She seemed too shocked that someone would dare pick her up to actually do anything. She also got grumpier as she got older, and she was our angry girl for 15 wonderful years.
Wishing you and your cat a long and happy life together. She is awesome. I had one that looked just like her "Pumpkin" and she was an "Alpha" as well and everything went after "her way". Over the years I learned from her to deal with it and I did. It also took me years to be able to hold her, it was on "her" terms after all. Towards the end of her long life (she lived until about 18 years old), she would actually sleep with me, that was about in the last 5 years. I miss her dearly and her strong "in charge" personality. Enjoy every day with your perfect cat! ♥
She actually reminds me a lot of my sister's old cat (rip Cindy). She was a real "one person" cat, hated/disliked everyone else, even my niece when she was born. Apparently my sister had saved her from an abusive home, and that's one reason why she only trusted her. Had I known that I would have been more accepting of being held hostage on the couch for hours when left alone with the cat 😂 Meanwhile, the cat I had (rip Skrollan), was 100% a dog in a cat's body. Loved every singly human, learned tricks like a champ, stopped bringing in birds after I scolded her (she took in a living blackbird), chilled with the roedeers, loved water, loved fetch. My conclusion, my cat was a dog 🤣 she even scared the irish wolfhound that lived down the street because he wouldn't play with her 🤣🤣
@@agneyfernandes And yet Cindy wasn't an attention seeking cat. She never ran straight up to my sister all like "love me, pet me, affection please". Also, I think that's quite a broad assumption to make. The cat I had, which was the cat my sister had after Cindy passed away, she loved my nephew when he was born, he just happened to be a bit allergic so I got to take care of the cat. Like 99% of all the cats I've ever met haven't been jealous. I've met more dogs that were jealous, pushing inbetween to also get hugged when the humans are hugging, almost smothering a cat that's getting pets in my lap because the dog wants pets too, etc. If we want to talk about a really jealous pet to own, that's a parrot. I don't mean the small ones, but like a grey parrot, and of course it also has to do with the personality of the animal in question (that goes for every animal you can own, seriously try to find the video with the girl whos ferret hates her boyfriend, it's hilarious). I don't know if you've seen these videos or not, but they were popular for a time, a couple had either a dog or a cat, that wasn't the biggest fan of kids, or was very "needy", etc, and they were worried if they could keep said animal when they had their baby. But once the baby arrived, the animal was totally chill, a bit curious, but quickly started to love the baby. Some of those videos were cats that would scratch kids, can't blame them, kids need to learn that animals aren't toys.
I wonder if you had a Ragdoll or Ragamuffin, since they're considered the "dogs of the cat world". My Rag is exactly the same, except she doesn't 'love' water but she'll put up with it. I've taught her tricks and she listens to commands. When walking her (on a leash), she's incredibly responsive to where I'm guiding her. However, if I decide to trust her by bringing her out without a leash, she'll try to run off & chase something she sees - thankfully she'll freeze as soon as I command her to stop. Only time she hesitated and kept going was to chase a cat off our property. Otherwise, she's obedient and the most lovable creature. Sometimes I imagine losing her when she gets older and burst into tears, my family always shakes their head at me and wonder why I love to torture myself lol. Idk I just think it's smart to prepare myself, but ugh it hurts! I have no clue what I'll do without her, I'd be inconsolable.
@@lina9535 cats are quite different lol All cats I had and have were found by me/my parents as strays (although some of them were and are phenotypical breeds), so it’s not exactly the reason, but some of them were and are really jealous The level could be hilarious, like wake up and run to you if you’re talking with other cat&petting him/her
She’s lovely. Not all people like all cats, so why do we assume all cats will like and be friendly to all people?
Very clever comment my friend!!!
This is the truth! I have a gift for charming cats that don't like or are afraid of people. Even so, not every cat is gonna love me. Sometimes the best you can hope for is tolerance.
Because that is the bare minimum to being a good animal jees cat lovers are wack.

When she said "She's getting old and that makes me sad." it hit a nerve, because all of my animals are seniors now, and it does make me sad.

i was against getting a cat because i didn’t want to get attached to a creature and then have to watch him become decrepit and disappear. despite my objections, we have a beautiful Siberian, and i love him more than i thought i could, but i know sooner or later that other shoe will drop; it haunts me.
I farewelled my nearly 19 year old Tabby boy Indi a week ago and there’s no denying the inevitable sadness and grief of losing a beloved pet. I’m comforted by the fact that I gave Indi a loving home and the best life a cat could have. My grandma had a cat exactly like this, who hated every living being, particularly kids, but loved my grandma. However when the cat got really old, around 18 years of age, he switched completely and became the most loveseeking cat ever and would accept pettings and cuddles from everyone. He died at the age of 21.

That's so cute. Hope you're enjoying your new found love for cats!

I had my cat for 21 years. She never was grumpy when she got older. She became more loving and attached, except in her last few days. Animals know when their end is near, they try to be alone and die somewhere. She still tried to always get up when she saw me, even though her body had issues laying down and getting up without pain. Man It's been over two years now and I still miss her
Sorry for your loss 😩😩

Grumpy cats are the best cats 🙂
The following has always worked for me - Never be over friendly with a cat that doesn't know you. Don't rush to pat it or pick it up. Acknowledge the cat in a gentle manner so it sees you do it then ignore it. If it wants, the cat will come to you. If it does, some gentle non- intrusive encouragement. If not, no biggy. I've found that within a reasonably short time, I end up with the cat on my lap 😁😁
This is my approach, too. You gotta respect a cat's boundaries.
Usually I say hello by offering my hand in a relaxed manner. The cat can pull away, or sniff it, up to them.
Never had a problem.
My little Olive was just the same. Except with children. She tolerated them all but she even really loved a couple. She had a particular ability to connect to people on the spectrum. One of her best kid friends spent hours of summertimes bonding chatting and sharing time with my Olive…
Kids running back and forth in sopping bathing suits flinging random toy flotsam to and fro…
There they were, a peaceful quiet oasis of their own (sitting together SMACK in the middle of the doorway because that’s where the sunbeam for her to sprawl was best)
I have some beautiful photos.
I always thanked him for taking the time to appreciate her and loving her. 🦋And I couldn’t say it enough to him and his family “she REALLY loves him!” Lol bc I couldn’t believe their bond. It was unprecedented and beautiful I’ve never seen her like that but with us!

I had a cat like this...very cuddly and affectionate with me, but would give anyone else what I called the "may I help you?" stare.
I love the fact your cat has to take probably the same meds as me, and I find that hilarious
Wow i didn't know drugs could solve problems
@@firstandlast4435 Well I am a human and that is a cat, and often human meds are toxic to pets. but I know what bipolar meds are out there for both humans and pets, and they are basically the same

same. Seriously I'd feel for ANYONE who came for MY babies.
the smarter the cat, the more they pick up on their human's cues: if this lady cringes and says to people, as they reach out to the cat, "Ooh, no, I wouldn't touch her!", kitty absolutely picks up on that reaction, and becomes wary, right away. Seriously, cats learn by imitation.

I AGREE
Ten is really middle-aged for a cat. I've had more than one cat live to 18 /20 years. Your cat has several good years ahead of her.
It’s so precious how she hugs you! ❤

He is a reject from a druggy family, had his claws removed and was beaten over the head when he bites.
I like to fix broken everythings, so he kept pounding my door to get in, just like a little drum. Well, I did. It's great that you understand her so well.
I have a cat exactly like her, same fluffy lilac fur and floopy pouch, same scowl, same tiny meow lol
Pixi wants so much love but hates everything, I feel so lucky when she comes for snuggles
That made me lol 😂
LMAO That cat be like “bitch you stink”
@@よろしく-u5l relax there. Besides, Susan would never curse. That was beneath her.
💀
@@B888-h2o umm hello mr. death?
I had a cat just like that. Hated everyone except her family. Twenty one special years with her. I miss her every day and know she is waiting for me on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
i'm in the exact same boat. My chubby little girlie is grumpy and a shed-machine! But i love her... 5 years and counting ♥
I got her a month after my dad passed away and now I love her and can’t imagine my life without her❤️
That blink at the end was a friendly gesture. She is such a personality, I already love her. ^^
i agree with what she said about cats being great companions.
I love the stare down. That’s a cool trait. My cat growls at strangers like a dog!
Never heard of this! I know the older I get I too get grumpy - real grumpy..... I have two primordial pouches 😂
Thank you for the rescue! ❤️
LOL!!!
She has a personality of her own, she is grumpy but loving at the same time ❤
While growing up in this world.
Aww. You have to love her. This owner accepts her as she is and that is how it should be.
As a parent to cat's one thing to learn: " They don't live in our world, we live in theirs".
Welll written!
Calling yourself a parent to an animal is weird...
I know a person who was literally locked out her house by her cat. She said it was an accident. Well, her cat would never let her in, in the first place.
@@Nekotaku_TV I find it hella strange
... and it is a wonderful world and an honor to be allowed to participate! (years ago, in the house we had a dog, 2 cats and 0 problems! for a while, unfortunately too little, even a crow).
CATS ARE LIKE PEOPLE THERE ARE ALL KINDS. EACH SHOW LOVE IN THERE OWN WAY. ENJOY THEM AND THEY WILL ENJOY YOU.
Had I known that I would have been more accepting of being held hostage on the couch for hours when left alone with the cat 😂
Meanwhile, the cat I had (rip Skrollan), was 100% a dog in a cat's body. Loved every singly human, learned tricks like a champ, stopped bringing in birds after I scolded her (she took in a living blackbird), chilled with the roedeers, loved water, loved fetch. My conclusion, my cat was a dog 🤣 she even scared the irish wolfhound that lived down the street because he wouldn't play with her 🤣🤣
Cool story! 😽
Cindy didnt like your niece because for her, your niece stole part of the affection she used to get.Cats are jealous pets.
@@lina9535 cats are quite different lol
All cats I had and have were found by me/my parents as strays (although some of them were and are phenotypical breeds), so it’s not exactly the reason, but some of them were and are really jealous
The level could be hilarious, like wake up and run to you if you’re talking with other cat&petting him/her
Omg....I love this cat. I wonder if you fostered a kitten if old grumpy pants would surprise you and take on the task of raising it.
She’s awesome! Rockin’ the ‘tude! ❤️
Hahaha! Awesome little kitty lady ! What a great character that kitty is. So happy she found her ideal home
I would love to have a cat like this I’d be cracking up all day
