I lived in the countryside of Northern New York for most of my life. An opossum showed up at my house one winter with a little kitten. Opossums will mother any lost baby, and it found a cold hunger kitten and brought it to me. I named him Alphie. The opossum came every evening for years to go off in the cornfield and play with him. It was many years ago, and I miss them both dearly❤

Death Valley-Furnace Creek Ranch 9-28-14 This is my “Death Valley-Furnace Creek Ranch” story. I'm looking at the scene in a video where the Lone Ranger first rides Silver. When I was a kid me and a friend hitch-hiked to Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley. For a job as a waiter and then later a fry cook. We walked the last 25 miles in the heat of summer. There was a little pond across the street we used to swim and bath in. It was so hot you'd get out of the pond and be bone dry before you walked 10 feet. “Dry” The heat was dry. You never saw or felt or experienced anything like it. I have a few stories from this time but the one about the horses is my favorite. Horses like to have fun and they have a sense of humor. I was walking on the golf course, which they close in the summer, and saw a bunch of horses which were let loose to graze. There were probably about six or eight of them. I walked up and started stroking their noses and patting them. Then got a wild hair to jump on one of them. Well this sucker took off. He was galloping like a horse out of a western......and then stopped dead in his tracks. I went flying. The grass was like a wrestling mat so I didn't get hurt. The horses started gathering around me, (the other horses had galloped alongside us), and I went ahead and jumped on another one. Same thing; the horse took off like a bat out of hell for about a hundred yards and stopped on a dime......and I went flying. I did this with all the horses for about an hour till I got tired and started walking back to my cabin. There were two maids standing there who had seen the whole thing and one of them said, “What are you trying to do? Kill those poor horses?” But the other lady spoke up and said “Mabel, those horses were having just as much fun as he was.” True story. When I was a kid I was riding a horse at a full gallup. I think I had what was a "blanket saddle"? Anyway the saddle slipped and I found myself hanging on for dear life under the horse while it kept galloping. I think it was John Rhine, a friend that I was riding with, who reined in the horse and kept me from getting trampled. Another time I was riding a borrowed horse alone up a trail and feeling and seeing only one thing after my horse was startled by a rattler; I felt a bump on my ass and I was lifting my face from the dirt just in time to see the horses ass disappear over a hill. Taking up a couple of non-barbed wire lines of fence with it on its way home. I guess I should add here that when we entered the cafeteria of the FCR we were stopped dead by British marching music and this guy in a British uniform, shorts and all marching around the restaurant. I forget exactly what the occasion was but it turned out to be the manager doing some old home week or something. He was from England and probably served in the military. One of these days I'll do some research on that. I forget if this was “below” or “above” at The Inn. Furnace Creek Ranch had a campground and motel where the regular folk stayed and then there was what I call “The Inn” up above. They had a natural hot springs that they funneled into a stream that round through this palm tree garden via a stream was made of stones Someone told me it has every palm tree in the world there. It was beautiful and just like some kind of oasis. It was real shady. The stream fed this huge pool with the Inn's logo at the bottom and on each side of the pool were these huge stone fireplaces. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around this now thinking back all those years but I think they closed down the Inn at the height of summer as the employees were able to use the pool. (I have memories of some of the most wild nights of my life that isn't fit for children. I couldn't believe how people let their hair down at these resorts. I had hair down to my ass at the time and acted like the “free love” hippie that I was.) The stream filled the pool and then continued down to this little pond. Where there were four or five huge goldfish that had somehow come down from somewhere at the Inn. We used to feed them while we took baths in this pond. The big sellers in the tourist shops were dead scorpions and stuffed rattlesnakes. I never thought I could find the desert attractive. I lived in Devore CA. Just below the Mohave Desert and lower deserts where I spent time but nothing on earth can compare to the beauty of Death Valley. I remember these gals hooked up with some guys they met and asked me drive their MG sportscar while they rode on the backs of these guys Harley's. (I wish I'd had the girls.) We drove fifty miles away to this mesa or mountain top. “Devils” something? I forget. The air was so clear you could see all the way back to Furnace Creek and a hundred miles beyond. And oh yeah; Saw that beautiful organ in Scotty's Castle.

@@kathybrown7658 Lovely comment thank you. My wife and I ran a dog rescue and rehoming service, non-profit. We mainly rescued dogs from Eastern Europe. We rehomed nearly 100 of the furry kids. We had to stop as the transport prices were ridiculous and I became terminally ill. At that point we had 12 dogs and 4 cats, we moved to a secluded house half way up a mountain in West Wales, in a forest which was much closer to my wife's family, in preparation when the day came. Like you we kept the sick and others which may have been problematic. That was 4 years ago, since then we have lost 5 dogs and 2 cats, all to illness. I lost Snoop on December 14th last year and I still miss him, but Nuke knows when I'm down and she will just be there, even spooning me on the bed. I once heard my dog outside barking up a storm. It was October 30th and cold outside, raining sleet. I went to look . There were Two Tiger Salamanders in the yard, huddled together in the cold. They were hugging each other. Why? There are no Tiger Salamanders in my area. I took them in for the winter and released them to a pond come Spring.

They both have such strong instincts. The horse knows it's his job is to be bossed around by predators, and the dog knows it's his job to boss around herbivores.
90% of the things that the author of the video commented on have nothing to do with reality. The duck is trying to mate with the dog, not to make friends with it. The commentator doesn't know anything about animals, but he still made an interesting video.
@@jasontipton8430 I don't think so, that's not really how a mountain lion hunts. They are primarily ambush predators. So it probably really was just curious. Dunno how comforting that should be as most shark bites are curious sharks.
@@petergerdes1094 They take advantage of easy situations. If a dog is just there and not reacting in any way, it will simply just go over to it and snatch it. @@Kingdom_Of_Discovery Are you worried about the tiger on the leash being led by the dog? believe it or not, in some zoos, Cheetah actually have comfort dog pets that socialize and keep them calm. I'd imagine the tiger is in a similar situation.
There's an atrocious level of cuteness here, but I'd be careful with bears and mountain lions! It's a miracle if the dog manages to befriend one of them.
Yes, the video narrator had absolutely no idea what he was actually seeing. The bear was being chased and snapped at. The dogs looked like working hunting dogs in addition, that bear is in for an awful time.
@JeanMcMahon-Irish It depends, I don't know the laws around bears well, but I do know they can be hunted in some places and dogs are used to help corner them. So they might not be fined for that. However, it looked to me like these dogs got out, so the owner could be fined for things like loose dogs, maybe hunting out of season(serious ouch, because it could be considered poaching potentially) you aren't as far as I know allowed to bear hunt in residential (unless it's truly self defense) for obvious reasons and who knows what else. It honestly depends on the place and laws.
In some places, dogs are used to frighten bears into NOT RETURNING. It's not about hunting, it's deterring. That's my impression of what may have been going on in the clip. That bear is in an urban/suburban environment. It's a bad situation.
That's Kenzo the tiger they've been raised together and have been together for 5 yrs now. He's a lazy tiger he mostly just chill in the grass or pool and not caring about the Rottweiler

little did you know...foxes actually befriend dogs & attempt to lure them into woods where their pack will attack them. Not sure if this fox was intending on this, but they can be @ it for days or weeks if they know its worth it. Its not common, but I'd be wary of any wild animal...
About a year ago, a feral calico cat showed up at our home. She wouldnt come near anyone but our chickens. Shed scratch in thw dirt with em & eat alongside em. So, i named her after a nickname in Kangaroo Jack: Chicken Blood! When she had kittens on my banty's clutch of eggs, she was so proud to show them off. She began letting us pet her. Now, she comes inside when she wants attention, & sits in my lap. If i stop petting her, she bites my hand. My meat rabbits got loose last week & weve only caught one so far. She has no desire to harm them in any way. She hunts the wild critters! She recently brought home another kitty & we never know who else will show up.
welllllll they're not domesticated, but they can be tamed. It's not reliable, it's not foolproof or totally safe, but it can be done. If it couldn't, we'd never domesticate anything.
Apes of various kinds chase off intruders using sticks and stones as weapons. Crows and ravens will gang up on and torment other birds for fun. Otters rape other small animals. Dolphins pass around pufferfish and get high off their toxins. Cats kill for fun. How exactly are we not like animals? Don't buy into this make believe Disney bullshit. Animals are quite capable of being every bit as cruel and malicious as people. They simply lack the ability to do so on as large a scale.
My son had an Iguana in 1995-98. That lizard was smart, house trained and would lay across my son’s shoulders while my son studied. We moved to a newer house in 1998 and the Iguana got in the trees and my neighbors garden and we had to give him to a reptile farm in Dallas. That Iguana was such a neat pet, my dogs just ignored him.

All due respect; but neither the coyote nor the mountain lion were trying to make new friends. They would kill and eat your dogs as soon as you turn around. In my area, coyotes are notorious for enticing dogs to play, even stealing their toys, the dog follows and the pack of coyotes are waiting in the bushes. Not a nice friend for sure.
My dog dug a hole in the fence and ran off, I searched for hours, that night I heard a lot of sheep sounds, my dog was at the front door, panting and wagging his tail like crazy, with a herd of sheep's behind him. I called the cops and they said they'll have to arrest my god for stealing, he spent 10 min in air jail while another cop went and got the owner of the sheep's apparently his sheep dog was a sleep and all the sheep's ran away. but it turned out my dog gave her some good loving then took payment in the form of live stock. I say it because we all say: You'll never regret the $ you spend on a dog, but you could easily regret what you spend on a human. DOGS ARE UNIFORMLY WONDERFUL. People? Not so much. Loved your comment-
@@kathybrown7658 Lovely comment thank you. I had two dogs that were mine, a big Pyrenean mountain dog called Nuke and a Transylvanian hound called Snoop. I lost Snoop on December 14th last year and I still miss him, but Nuke knows when I'm down and she will just be there, even spooning me on the bed. It is good to know there are people, with the same concerns as ours.❤️❤️

Thank you for your kindness 🙏

Absolutely
Yes, the video narrator had absolutely no idea what he was actually seeing. The bear was being chased and snapped at. The dogs looked like working hunting dogs in addition, that bear is in for an awful time.
@SilverIchimaru so disgusting what was happening in that clip. Whoever set the dogs on that bear should be charged .

The coyote that followed the dog inside had a collar on. For some reason people will keep coyotes as pets.
The wolf at the end had a collar too. Obviously not wild.
welllllll they're not domesticated, but they can be tamed. It's not reliable, it's not foolproof or totally safe, but it can be done. If it couldn't, we'd never domesticate anything.
@@josephkostinko739 I think that wolf at the end was actually a malamute "cross breed of a wolf and a husky"
Why can’t people be like animals. Find good, in everyone ❤❤❤❤
Except lions, they mostly just find good eatin' in other animals.

All due respect; but neither the coyote nor the mountain lion were trying to make new friends. They would kill and eat your dogs as soon as you turn around.
