    I got the same one for my Race Red '17 GT. Didn't have the nerve to do it myself, found an awesome panel shop that did it for me. I never got the template with the spoiler package either, but the guy just said, give me an hour or a bit and I'll get it done. Literally did the same thing you did. I asked over three shops that were "specialized" in vehicle work. None were game and one was like "go it yourself." I would love to do this kind of stuff myself but I know...just know, I'll stuff it up. Good video, awesome to see how it's done every step. You made it look so easy!

    This worked great for installing a spoiler onto my highlander. The only issue I ran into was the spoiler came from a junk yard and it has a stud that is used for locating it when installing at the factory so it wouldn't lay flat. I just drilled a hole magically in the right spot (i actually have no idea how i got it right, but it was perfect) then your method for the two bolt holes. Worked like a charm and its perfectly even

    Hope it’s not a dumb question, but what kind of screws did you use and what are the sizes

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว +22

      This is NOT a dumb question. The GT350 spoilers I have installed used M6x1.00 threaded screws. Some of the lengths varied depending on the hardware that came with the spoiler. However, the ones in this video look to be 10mm long (M6-1.0 x 10mm Flanged Button Head Screws). If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Not sure if this is too late but, what if the bolts are built in to the spoiler?

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are always free to ask questions. If the spoiler already has threaded studs, it does make the alignment task a little challenging.
      I had a few ideas on how to approach this task. One method would be to used cardboard or poster board (you may need to glue two pieces together) and trace out the bottom of the spoiler on it. Push or cut out the studs through the cardboard to create the holes. Once complete, transfer the cardboard template to the car and perform your measurements/alignment there.

    I got one maybe dumb question, but when it rain or you power wash the car will any waterdrops enter from the holes into the trunk ?

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's not a dumb question. Fortunately, with this installation, we haven't experienced any water issues. However, it's recommended to use double-sided tape (3M) in addition to bolts when installing a spoiler. The tape acts as a gasket.
      In this video, the owner opted out for adding the tape.

    • @mcgurrentertainment

      Thank you. Typically, 3M tape is also used in conjunction with the mechanical fasteners. The tape acts as a gasket or seal. Fortunately for this spoiler install, the screw holes were aligned just right, and the screws maintained a tight seal.

      Good question. That was known by previous doing this on my Mustang and by touch. You can put your finger on the outer hole and estimate where it is on the other side. The hole on the inside does not have to be perfect. That is why the hole was much bigger.

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flange nut might be better (less things to risk dropping). If you want a seal, verify your new spoiler has double-sided tape (similar to the orange Mustang) , or you can add RTV around the hole.

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      9/32" is correct for drill bit size. A majority of spoiler screws for the Mustang is an M6. So, the hole is slightly bigger to allow a clean install and allow some room for play/flexibility.

    When you’re trying to drill the actual hole into metal, to make sure you use the correct drill bit size to drill, are you making sure that the screw you’re going to install fits inside that hole that you drilled but not the screw’s washer right? First time doing this. Please advise, thank you!

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you want the screw threads to fit through the hole, but not the screw head nor washer. These were M6 screws (6mm), so we drilled a ~7mm hole.

      @@mcgurrentertainment it wasn’t easy but I got it installed. My drill bit broke while drilling the last hole on the trunk , and it left dings on some of the areas nearby. I had to use touch up paint on it. I also accidentally dropped a screw into my trunk during testing/installing so I was trying to fish it out with a Magnet stick but failed. So ima see if I can a replacement screw from the vendor. I had to drill additional holes inside trunk too which was not easy and had to remove excessive remnants/metal. I did manage to measure and drill the holes pretty accurately so was able to install 3/4 screws for now. I got tons of scratches inside my trunk but it’s a 2011 mustang so w/e but I really wanna get that lost screw that fell inside a hole in the linings of my trunk. Any ideas?

    • @mcgurrentertainment

    does the threadlock prevent leaks as well?

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. Ideally, 3M double-sided tape is used in conjunction with the mechanical fasteners. However, there is very little/no play in the bolt & bolt holes; minimizing room for water. If your spoiler does not have double-sided tape, you may use RTV around the holes.
