- UK Railway Water Spraying Trains in various locations across the United Kingdom throughout October to December 2022! 🇬🇧
Ever heard of 'Leaves on the Line' ? Water Spraying Trains (known as Rail Head Treatment Trains (RHTT) or Water Cannon Trains) are freight trains that jet rails with water at a pressure of 21,750 PSI during the Autumn leaf fall season to remove leaves and grime. Mainlines are treated to one of these trains every 24 hours to ensure trains maintain adhesion and safely operate services.

- 66/0s - Built in 1998/2001
- Direct Rail Services Class 66
- 66/0s - Built in 1998/2001 (Leased from DB)
- 66/4s - Built in 2004/2008
- Freightliner Class 66s
- 66/5s - Built in 1999/2000
- GBRF Class 66s
- 66/7s - Built in 1998/2016 - Ex-Various
- Colas Rail Class 66s
- 66/8s - Built in 2003
- Network Rail Windhoff MPVs
- Built in 1998/2001 - Multiple Purpose Vehicle

Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more

What I’m saying is that I have seen the RHTT locomotives on the Southend Victoria Line and also saw one at Southend Central and one passing through Basildon several weeks ago.

Where’s next?
Why does the class 73s only do Kent? And also where have all the MPVs gone???
Hello, Kent is served by mainly 73s although the circuits have used 69s, 66s and the occasional 56 too. This year it’s just 73s. MPVs are still around and serve mostly metro routes including Southern, South Western and West Midlands. Hope this helps you, thanks 👍🏻😃
