A320 Landing at Davao International Airport

- Flying back in late 2017 from Manila to Davao nearing sunset with some scattered weather around the vicinity. In command was Capt. Aljess Lasmarias, a fine captain and one of my favorites to fly with.
This is a Gopro headmounted view; traffic and weather led us to hold once over the initial approach fix, continuing towards landing on runway 23. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
The Philippine government needs to set aside funds to buy and install radar facilities in other instrument airports like Davao. Up to now, I think there are only 4 airports equipped with radar facilities to aid air traffic controllers in guiding planes safely - NAIA, Mactan, Subic, Clark. I used to be an ATC in Manila approach and started in 1997. I left in '03 to move to the US. 24 years has passed and up to now, no radar facility has been added.

20:30 two condo buildings near runway look very dangerous.
I agree it's not the best side of the runway to be landing on but they have no choice because of the wind and again passenger safety is always the priority

Na experience kong mga 5x nag attempt nag touchdown sa runway dyan but to no avail..10pm ng gabi..ang ginawa ng pilot bumalik kami sa mactan...den bumalik ulit sa davao..11pm na tuloy kami nakapag touchdown..0 visibility daw kase non...

Wow, there were 2 tall buildings right infront of the path of the runway. Setting the safety issues aside, who in his right mind will want to live in a condo where your sleep gets rattled by jet planes flying so close overhead?

London Heathrow has entire villages right before the runways, apparently some of those living on those houses get used to it for a while, but for Heathrow there's a curfew for flights beyond 11PM, barely any planes go into the airport beyond that and the usual traffic resumes at 6.

Look!!! The Capt is wearing a sunglasses while he is flying the aircraft. Delikado yan pag polarized ang sunglasses nya. Hindi nya makikita ang ibang naka display sa instrument nya. For your info. it cause some incident in other airline bcuz Capt is wearing a polarized sunglasses.
How do you know if it is Polarized or not?
So they are still using papers on year 2017.

sabi ng pilot: ang lapit na natin ang taas taas pa natin. Napansin ko rin eh. Bakit ang taas pa nila? RNAV approach?
Tama, malapit na and ang taas pa nila. Wala kc radar facility ang approach ng Davao. 4 na airport lang sa RP ang may radar - NAIA, Mactan, Subic and Clark. The controller is using radials and rely on pilot's position, distance and altitude to provide vertical or lateral separation sa mga planes kaya laging may delay and kung madami ang traffic inbound and outbound, malamang planes will be holding. Ang hirap ng trabaho nila dahil hindi nila nakikita ang exact position ng mga planes. Sana magkaroon ng project ang RP government na lagyan ng radar ang ibang airports na pinupuntahan ng malalaking planes.
@@dnumyaroedat4162 mas mabilis sana kung ang runway ng davao katulad ng Mactan or naia ng sa ganun hindi paikot ikot ang eroplano sa taas dahil may nag taxi sa runway. A320 has its own radar,. Alam ng pilot kung may aircraft sa vicinity.
@@homer30 tama ka jan kabayan. Wala naman space para lagyan ng taxiway dahil may subdivision. Ang ibig kong sabihin na radar is yung gamit ng mga controller para makita nila sa scope kung nasaan ang exact location ng mga eroplanong kaka-lipad lang and yung padating.
@@dnumyaroedat4162 yes, siguro pag naging mas busy ang Davao eh baka bibili na ang gobyerno ng radar para sa tower, maybe in the next five year or so, cross finger.
