    I love watching videos like this because it bust a lot of the myths I get on my flight sim forums. One for example is that 80 knots thrust reversers go back to idle. Here, in real life, thrust reverse was deactivated at 30 knots. Way below what I have been stopping at. Thank you for such well made and detailed video.

      Alex Howard hi, on A320 aircraft thrust reversers go back to idle at 70kts and are stowed at 30 knots, 25 when the runway is covered in snow.

    • @thilinadissanayake4550
      @thilinadissanayake4550 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      In this instance they used only idle reverse not full reverse. If they had used full reverse they would have moved the levers to idle at 70 and stowed at 30. What you saw here was idle reverse being used which is why they were stowed at 30kts.

    • @RobT_Cockpit_videos
      @RobT_Cockpit_videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      in flight rudder inputs are 0%, on airbus rudder is automatic and rudder pedals are used only to control the aircraft on the ground or in case of engine failure in flight

    • @topethermohenes7658
      @topethermohenes7658 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean about total flight control inputs? Do you mean stick to control surface movement?

    • @Capt.Ho.Lee.Fuk.
      @Capt.Ho.Lee.Fuk. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rudder pedal use is minimal, it is only used on groud for taxi, take off and landing I would say just 5-10% of the total input. In flight you only use rudder pedals when an engine fails, the input depends on each type of aircraft, for the 737 you might need 50-70% of the total input to maintain the heading. For normal operation in flight you never use the rudder since all modern airliners have yaw damper, yaw damper provides dutch roll prevention, gust damping and turn coordination.

    • @pasanperera1852

      @@RobT_Cockpit_videos thanks for the reply. What about in take-off and landing? unless in a crosswind, how often are rudders used?

    • @RobT_Cockpit_videos
      @RobT_Cockpit_videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pasanperera1852 for take-off and landing while the aircraft is on the ground they are used 100% of the time, despite having crosswind or a perfect calm wind, it is just like a car, despite driving on a perfect flat street you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel because the car won't keep going straight by itself.

    is that pilot's legs super restless or is he really hitting the rudder petals that much?

  • @mj6962
    @mj6962 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When you say Rotate and the nose goes up, isn’t that an action of the “wheel” in the center in front of the pilots? The yoke doesn’t make the most go up at rotate, correct? But the yoke DOES steer left and right?

    • @samuelharper9411
      @samuelharper9411 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      M J the yoke controls the Ailerons (which make the plane turn) and the elevator (which changes the pitch). The wheel by the throttles controls the pitch trim. On the ground steering is controlled by the tiller and sometimes the rudder as well.

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. On ground the auto trim is unavailable. On rotation the Sidestick is pulled back which deflects the elevators up and makes the plane climb. A few seconds after rotation the auto trim is available and will then trim the aircraft to the required pitch.

    • @manikrn007
      @manikrn007 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The yoke (or a sidestick in an airbus) is responsible for the rotation during takeoff. When the stick is pulled, it deflects the elevators ( near the tail of the plane) upwards, making the nose wheel of the plane lift up. Once the plane is airborne, then the wheel are retracted, using another lever.
      Also about turning left and right, on the ground, pilots use the tiller (hand operated) or the rudder pedals (foot operated). In the air, pilots use the ailerons(controlled by the sidestick) and the rudder on the tail (controlled by the rudder pedals) to turn.

      а вы, будучи правшой, на машине с МКПП какой рукой рулите?) тут больше упаривает паралитичность движений сайдстиком, механизм перестановки стабилизатора с ума сходит, отчетливо видно. это вам не ламповый b737-800, а вполне себе умный a321

    Spoilers didn't deploy, did they forget to arm it or was it deliberately left out of the landing?

      spoilers did deploy, on Airbus aircraft there is no physical movement of the spoiler lever like in other planes.

    I think the FS joke is too old now! Kindly come up with something new! At every such video you can find that same comment! And I actually feel FS is not that good, unless you don't have an actual life, a life out of the screen, an actual physical life!

    Bad procedure, at V1 your hand MUST at thrust lever, we trained like that in here

    • @RobT_Cockpit_videos
      @RobT_Cockpit_videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow, first time i've heard that in mi life, the entire world moves the hand off the thrusts levers after v1, is written on Airbus FCTM. So you guys fly against the manufacturer standard procedures, great.

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never known anyone to keep their hand on the thrust levers after V1. Your not supposed to do you don’t instinctively go to idle if an engine fails after V1 or you risk overrunning
