    I've always liked this kit. It's not spot on great but it can be used as a good base for a few easy improvements.

    Built 2 of them already, both as G-10U4s. This kit can serve as a base for improvements with spare parts, because it suffers from many issues. AZ Bf-109G series provides lots of them. Here are some issues I can recall stumbled on:
    - entire propeller area is wrong in shape and dimensions
    - cockpit is poor
    - wheels are meeeeh
    - pilot's headrest is really bad and don't know why somebody decided to mold it together with fuselage
    - wing bulges are not so great too
    - drop tank rack is completely wrong so it has to be removed
    - empty case ejection ports next to it need to be opened
    - FuG-16y antenna hole is on the wrong panel and needs to be moved
    - landing gear covers are bad
    - tail wheel is poor as well
    - oil cooler needs to be opened from the rear end
    - supercharger air intake is total garbage
    Welp, that makes a pretty long list of issues, but all of them are relatively easy to fix if one has some experience. The worst is the nose of the kit. While you can replace the propeller and it's hub, the intervention onto the fuselage is basically impossible. But we can live with that

      Nice, yeah it has promise. I’ve also struggled with the amount of flashing and the landing gear struts being so thin they are almost Airfix 1/72 Mustang level fragile!
      But definitely agree with that list! I’m part way through building it now and I am sort of just letting the shape and some of the low detail issues be. I’ve definitely seen worse 109 kits and cockpits though!
      Thanks for watching.

    Hello from Austria Thanks for the Reviw Its a very poor Kit here its cost
    7 or 9 Euro here and is good for Model Beginners You have a lot more Kits in 1/72 Scale here so this Kit its not real bad Greetings

      Greetings from Australia, thanks for watching. I think if I was a beginner I would go for a decent Airfix kit or even more simple a Hobby Boss easy assembly kit. This kit is going to need a lot of cleaning up! Take care😁

    I also made that exact kit, and i have to say, you might have even gotten a bit lucky with the tooling, mine was a nightmare to fix , i was missing pieces on the wing and stabilizer XD.
    Probably the worse tooling i've ever encountered, but a nice model regardless if you know your way around putty (and very cheap, around 9 euros on amazon so i cant complain too much)

    Nice video Review, but the plastic kit is really terrable ,a specially I do not like canopy it is poor detailed, hard to understand where masking tape must be.

    I have a heller bf109 G kit that dates from 1976 and it looks much better than this one, had not much flash and came with wing cannons as well. It’s quite sad to know a kit 20 years older than this one is better. The lack of bombs or cannons for the plane is also quite a negative for me.

    • @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits
      @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it is a shocker for flash and cleanup, I think it’s got a better cockpit and a few details then the good old Heller, but it makes you pay for it with the cleanup!
      I think it is a shame, I do love to have weaponry and a pilot for extra options, I suspect the G-10 may not have carried the cannon pod modifications or bombs being a bit of a stopgap between the G and K models, but I could be wrong and if so it is a shame Revell didn’t bother! Thanks for watching mate👍🏻😁

    A little unfair to be comparing an almost 30 year old kit with the relatively recent Tamiya 109G. You also need to remember that when the Revell 1/72 series of WW2 fighters (Spitfire Vb, Hurricane IIc, Bf-109, Me-262, FW-190, etc) were released during the 1990s, they were widely lauded as a huge step forward in that scale and fabulous value for the modelling dollar... they could be bought for around AUD10.00 back then.

    • @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits
      @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you’re definitely right, this kit would’ve been amazing 30 years ago, thoguh Revells 1:72 Mustang is not getting away with it!
      I’m more looking at it from the perspective of getting it now, and I’d never say it’s a bad kit. It’s just the tooling has not been maintained and as a result there is a ton of flash and imperfections, and now it’s $25 not $10😢. The Italeri and Academy kits all came out 30 years ago as well and thoguh they don’t have quite as much detail in some spots they are a heck of a lot better moulded.
      Still excited to build it and see how it goes thoguh. Thanks for watching and sharing your views😁

  • @Lt.Gruber
    @Lt.Gruber 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Revells moulds really need to be maintained a bit better. That amount of flash and soft detail is worrying. I think you may find as you build it there will be some subtle warping of the parts or miss alignment.

    • @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits
      @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Afraid not. So far AZ Models and Tamiya are the only modern brands I’ve seen that includes the swastika with their 109. Controversially I always leave mine off, just because I don’t want to upset TH-cam too much, and it’s definitely not my favourite symbol ether…

    the 109 is ok got some after market photo etch for the cockpit its old tooling now ( 1996)but not a bad kit. Defenetly not at mustang level the mustang is fucking awfoul an impudence to ask for money for it...........

    • @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits

      No it is almost definitely not Mustang level!!! I have to say I was honestly pleasantly surprised it was just old and not a blemish in the world of 109 model kits. I think I could be tempted by photo etch, although I’ve never been much of an aftermarket person🤔

    • @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits
      @Luca_Sprues_Model_Kits  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s fair. I rarely build anything bigger than 1/72 because I like to have everything the same size from tanks and fighters to big bombers. That and it’s a bit easier to keep 1:72 once their built😂
