Ubers teams mostly consist of powerful Legendaries and Mythicals, but sometimes random Low tier choices can have a specific role in the format and offer unique utility.

Some will never figure out how to get Dachsbun in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Dachsbun Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Dachsbun Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.

Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.

From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Dachsbun is the first of the new "Baker" Pokémon type, alongside the bagel Pokémon Bagon and the evolution of Shuppet, Baguette.
The final evolution of Bagon is the new Pokemon, "Saladmence", a new pseudo-lengendary with respectable stats.

Daschbun is one of the most flavorful Pokémon designs of Gen 9. This is because he is a freshly baked loaf of bread, giving him his distinctive "Bread" flavor.

Parasect is another sub-zu pokemon that occasionally pops up in ubers. Because of dry skin it can switch into choice-locked kyogre's water moves and spore the switch in.

It’s actually pretty crazy how good daschbun is in to that tournament Ubers team lol! It not only walls koraidon, but nothing really wants to switch in on it either! Body press is x4 damage against kingambit and chien pao, x2 damage against arceus, and hits glimmora decently hard since glimmora is physically frail. Play rough also hits miraidon really hard. Somehow daschbun not only counters koraidon, but it’s actually a threat here too against aggressive teams, that’s pretty cool.
Against a more defensive team it’s next to useless, as daschbun would have done literally nothing against four of Lana’s six pokemon, but it worked here.
I am very glad Magcargo what is victorious in the Horse Council civil War. I just hope this newfound power doesn’t go to his head.
It couldn'teven do anything with such power, seeing as it has proven to be incapable of executing the Psychic-type move Zen Headbutt.

I love it when players get creative and find that obscure anti-meta mon to destroy these god-tier mons.
Considering there is now a Koraidon counter, Koraidon should be ZU as you can use Dachsbun in any tier to counter him. I rest my case.

Dachsbun is a new Pokemon in Gen 9 that you would really not expect to do much of anything in competitive.
The power level of modern pokemon is very high
And these stats just don't quite cut it anymore
Daghsbun is ranked in the Zero Used tier, the lowest possible usage based tier on Smogon, which pretty much means nobody uses this thing competitively.

Except for this player named LANA, who shocked everyone when a Dachsbun was seen in their gen 9 Ubers tournament game.
I once used a mono-Fairy team that had a Klefki lead with Daschbun in reserve (Singles). Klefki did great to bait out a fire mon (and set some Spikes if my opponent didn't lead with an obvious Fire coverage user), and then i'd switch into the bread doggo with an Assault Vest. Get giga defenses, use Trailblaze on the switch, then go Tera Fighting to Body Press entire meta teams to death. Funnily enough, the more meta the opposing team, the more effective it usually was.
Also, for some reason a lot of people seem to just forget that Tera-ing doesn't alter Abilities, so i still occasionally got some brainlets spamming Overheats into Well Baked Body after they already did it once before.
Situations like this where the most used pokemon in ubers is hard walled by a ZU bread dog are why I love competitive pokemon.
I'm deeply concerend with Iron Mugulis' recent ambitions and developments. Given that he and his mischievous fellows now plan to build a new headquarters at horsea stronghold, which remember folks is right next to the trident. From this strategic position Iron Mugulis' influence over the other territories will grow immensely, given the right partnerships, and Iron Mugulis can and will take advantage of the horse council's state of chaos for sure. I think Magcargo is taking it too lightly even though his new found powers grant him ridiculous stats and impressive horse looks, the situation is as far away from the Calm as early Spira in FFX, only time will tell.
As an Ariados enjoyer, it's always fun to see it work in gen 4 Ubers, even if only a little.
Back in gen 6, my klefki walled my friend's team of hacked shinies and legends. Pissed him off so much. Love those keys

One could say that dachsbun as a koraidon counter is hard baked into the game.
I'm so happy the horse kingdom finally knows peace after the civil war, hopefully no mug shaped troubled arise.

Dachsbun feels like an alternative to Slurpuff.
It's a Fairy-type food doggo, but more physical defense oriented with less utility but an extra immunity. Slurpuff was dominating enough that they decided to ditch it this Gen and try something a little different, but Dachsbun just couldn't make the same impact.
It's a shame it didn't get a new Signature move when the other Paldean dogs each did. Maybe something like a Fairy-type Body Press would've helped it.
I mean people have been using Dachsbun as a Korai check since DLC1 came out. Its just hard to fit on most team structures. Either way, people started running Iron Head to break through Dachsbun so even it is not a consistent Korai check. Close Combat 2HKOs after a Swords Dance also.
Finally, with Magcargo on top this world will know peace. Even if only for the moment.
I feel like dachsbun would’ve been really good back when everything got toxic.
Shoutouts to the greatest Pokémon ever, Quagsire, in being a Kyogre check in some generations and having been the only real check to Zacian in Gen 8 before that got banned to Anything Goes.
There is something about playing stall with a bunch of derpy pokemon and steamrolling the uber legendaries that just warms my heart

Hello, occasional jimothy enjoyer and competitive uber player here. Just wanted to clarify this is not the first time dachsbun has been seen in the Ubers landscape. It was discovered very early in SV prehome, owing to lack of available pokemon to keep the legendary down. It has been rarer after release of pokemon home indeed, and first sighting in WCoP by Lana as mentioned by jimothy.
Also P.S I saw something about parasect being to counter kyogre in ubers, that is NOT true and let's not make up and spread misinformation gamers

Shedinja is not even a bug it’s a discarded shell of a bug which makes it funnier
since vgc is in a restricted format right now they've also had a lot of funny mons getting used, particularly stuff to counter miraidon is popular. raichu has been better than ever since tera fairy makes miraidon completely worthless, pory-2 is always ok but recently with tera ground it's seen a spike in usage, and my personal favourite atm is electabuzz who's being used with an eviolite follow me set, which also has insomnia to hard counter amoongus
Finally seeing some counterplay instead of 6 legends vs 6 legends.
But it's funny sending a dessert against a primordial dragon.
There is a dire lack of concern about the pokemon Gliscor, who I fear plans on making an attempt at Magcargo's position on the Horse Throne. As the only pokemon who both learns High Horsepower and is naturally immune to it, we must evaluate the danger of this new threat Roosting in the distance. Please take this warning seriously. Dachsbun is like quagsire in that when bullshit happens and you need an answer to specific monsters it can handle it in any tier.
My new dog is pure bread.
Dachsbun is also uniquely good in Pokerogue, fusing a steel type with it via DNA splicers makes it immune to Dragon, Poison, and Fire.

Stuff like this is why I don't give up on competitive Pokémon, sometimes in a game dominated by some pretty powerful Pokémon, the Pokémon you'd least expect can counter them

What would be fun to see at a tourney is hyper-specific anti-meta team vs another hyper-specific anti-meta team. They were made for countering the meta, how will they do vs each other?
Btw, I used almost exactly the same dachsbun team that LANA used in the aforementioned tournament well before he used it. I made the team to qualify for the Miraidon suspect test. It was the exact same team, but with ho-oh instead of skarmory. I wonder if I influenced him in some way lol even though I know it's entirely possible I didn't

Dachsbun in gen 9 übers sounds like your describing aerodactyl in gen 1 übers to me, if in addition to being immune to mews most common set, it also came with a MRG-Grenade-Launcher (Mew removal grenalde-launcher).
Dachsbun is a new Pokémon in gen 9 that you would really not expect to do anything in competitive.
It’s not quite a legendary, but I’ve tried a Drifblim as a Great Tusk counter. It’s immune to both of its STABs, can shrug off Ice Spinners and maybe even Knock Offs with the right investment or Tera Fairy, cripple it will Will-O-Wisp, and heal itself with Strength Sap. Tera Fairy can even help against stuff like Roaring Moon. Maybe Tera Water or Fighting against Kingambit before it can set up. Terastallization is a big commitment just to take a hit and try to wall something, but it might work out in the right situation.
You could definetly make a part 2 for this video. Some other great examples include:
Ariados, parrasact and toxicroak in gen 4 ou, golduck when primal groudon was usable, quagsire as both a counter to kyogre and zacian-crowned and probably many more that I don't know about or forgot to mention
Also I was recently thinking about how Koraidon could probably be countered pretty well by Dachsbun, all it's gotta watch out for is Heavy Slam or Iron Head, since Koraidon can learn those moves

I like the fact that the god of the sea, kyogre stone wall by a bug and slug.
I love how well various Dark types counter Ultra Necrozma in game, but from a narrative perspective- Zoroark in gen 7 is painted as a sort of protective figure, and its now quite notorious for shutting down this "difficult" fight, but likewise, the mentally calculating Malamar can use its signature move to invert the Ultra Burst that makes Necrozma so powerful.
With it being a wrathful Light Dragon, that fits.
I don't feel like we've seen that same level of diegetic in-game countering since, have we? (I'm asking, I haven't been able to game as much lately because of health stuff)

It’s always great to see a Pokémon that is not very good in most tiers find a way to counter the best Pokémon in Ubers. Like Shedinja and Parasect in Gen 4 Ubers to counter Kyogre.

The boge does have some some statues moves like yawn, work up, and howl, not great setups to pair with yawn but doable.
This makes me wonder about using Azumaril on a more offensive team for a similar purpose. You would only resist fire and take a full 60 base power low kick, but huge power play roughs are actually pretty scary.

Ive been using Dachbun for a year in ZU and PU as a great emboar counter or any other fire/fighting types. Copycat is also the best move for it even better then bodypress. Fight me
This is a very interesting video! I am curious why Koraidon typically runs Low Kick over something strong like Collision Course - it doesn't have any drawbacks like lesser accuracy or cooldown turns like other signature moves. Or even something like Brick Break or Drain Punch, very solid STAB moves.

quagsire countering Zacian in Gen 8 was fun, lapras is also a very good palkia counter
In gen 7 ubers i was an avid user of Whimsicott.
Cause it could enter on xerneas after a Geomancy and use encore.
And it kept momentum cause, using the switch turn on Xerneas you could moonblast incoming Yvetal or substitute for a free leech seed which heals a lot cause legendaries HP is so high.
Gen 8 ruined it cause Dynamax goes throught encore tho.
Tinkaton is also steel fairy and gets mold breaker T. Wave (to paralyze Gholdengo) and stealth rocks and encore!
