Another Evolution I thought that was useless was Gallade. Gallade loses the Fairy-typing and special magical attack for physical attack. Even worse, Gallade can only be male meaning that if you have female Kirlia, the Dawn Stone would not work. I'll face it, in many ways, Gardevoir is much better than Gallade. While it's true you may have not added Gallade to this video, I'll just say that Gardevoir is better than Gallade in many ways.
funny enough that caused a leak with dipplin where it being allowed to hold eviolite and get the boost cause of coding. showing that it indeed had another evolution which we later found out was hydrapple
Incineroar was actually kind of decent in the past, King of NU in Gen 7, for a time it had a legitimate niche in OU during the Pokemon Home meta of Gen 8 (I personally was a really big advocate for it at the time because Intimidate + Will O Wisp + Knock Off + Parting Shot was a great combination of tools to help check the opposing offense whilst keeping momentum whilst forcing progress by removing items. Incineroar was a very solid defensive pivot during this metagame) and then went on to again be great in NU
Incineroar is NU. Raikou, Infernape, Swampert, Cresselia, Deoxys Defense, Munkidori, Mienshao, Flygon and Lycanroc Dusk are in this tier and it's top 10 minimum there as well. My point is, any Pokemon ranked for NU should not considered to be terrible in gen 9. The tier is so unbelievably powerful.
Dusknoir and Electivire are two cases impacted by "Gen 4 happened and the Physical/Special split happened". Their pre-evolutions in Gen 3 would have relied on Shadow Ball (physical) and Thunderbolt (special) as their stabs. But Electabuzz evolved into a Pokemon with a better physical stat while getting no new Electric physical move, and Dusclops did the same while losing Shadow Ball (since it became Special) and they didn't even gave it Shadow Claw... It's infuriating to me how many generations it took to give some of these Pokemon a good stab of their main type AND main offensive stat after the split, or at least one without drawback (not counting the two-turns moves, not counting Wild Charge). Poltergeist didn't happen until GEN 8, and we are only now unlocking Superslam Cell for Pokemons like Luxray who needed this SIXTEEN YEARS AGO!
How we don't have more parity between types and attacking spreads kinda baffles me. It's cool that certain types only get a strong physical spread move or a priority attack, but it really kills some mons. The lack of reliable fire priority or high BP physical ghost moves limits so many pokemon. It's not even hard to balance, just don't give it to pokes that have high base stats. It's an easy buff to existing mons.
Yeah, Dusknoir would've been amazing in Adv. It could do everything that Dusklops could but also boast amazing offensive presence with Shadow Ball and Focus Punch coming from a respectable Atk. It's just that literally everything else that came with the generational shift worked against Dusknoir.
@@dengar96 Yeah, adjusting who can learn what and taking a look at what kind of moves don't exist is something they really need to do next Gen, so many Pokemon are tossed because of terrible move pools limiting their options, meanwhile some Pokemon have way too many tools in their pocket.
It's still not the most Egregious case of not handing out Shadow Claw. Gourgeist has claw shaped hair hands, and REALLY needed ghost STAB that wasn't phantom force. But no, it had to wait for Poltergeist which is useless for in-game play because NPCs don't bother with items.
@@1stCallipostle Reminds me of some other ridiculous cases of logic, like Hippopotas not learning Dig before HG/SS (even by TM), or Heliolisk not learning Solar Beam (even by TM) before Gen 8 despite being a walking solar panel.
If we weren't in the powercreep hell gen Dunsparce with Eviolite would have been really good in some lower tier. Like it has decent bulk, roost despite not being a flying type, calm mind with stab boomburst, and serene grace which like it's too slow to spam headbutt and flinch or something but it's definitely useful to have in some way
Since Mr. Rime is known as the Comedian Pokémon, it should 110% get Chilly Reception. It would be amazing in higher tiers with the ability to be a faster pivot compared to Slowking. Plus it'd get a Defense boost and Mr. Rime has low Defense
Being a slow pivot is the entire point of Slowking. Slow pivots get hit before switching out, which protects the incoming Pokemon from any damage. Slowking is very bulky, so taking the hit to protect other Pokemon is fine, since Slowking can take the hit without dying. On top of that, it has Regenerator, an ability that heals you when you pivot. Mr. Rime would definitely not become a higher tier Pokemon off of gaining Chilly Reception. Mr. Rime has worse HP, Defense, and Special Defense than Slowking, while also lacking the automatic recovery that is Regenerator. And in pivot wars, going last is great because you see what the other player pivots to *_BEFORE YOU CHOOSE YOUR SWITCH-IN_* so you even get to counterpick their switch-in. So Mr. Rime is completely outclassed by Slowking for being less bulky, having less recovery, and contrary to your point, Mr. Rime having better speed makes it a worse pivot as well. Would Chilly Reception help Mr. Rime be useful in lower tiers? Absolutely. He has respectable bulk for those tiers, is quite hard-hitting, and even has a decent speed stat to outspeed bad Pokemon. But he'd never be a higher tier anything, let alone a high tier alternative to Slowking.
@MaahirMomtaz12 I honestly don't think it would even get to NU. It just dies to ant decent priority. mienshao claps it, talonflame claps it, anything good removes it in one hit. It's going to be permanently PU at best.
@@dengar96 It's not supposed to threaten speedy Pokemon. It's supposed to scare slower Pokemon with its coverage, forcing them to switch into a Steel type that it uses Chilly Reception on to pivot.
@@loudwhispre9406 Fast pivoting is still useful since you can react if your opponent switches or not. Its the same reason Zapdos would use BP with no boosting moves in ADV
@@Reginald425 Essentially Farigiraf's power comes from it's unique ability and good movepool. It doesn't have much competition for what it provides, and because it's a support, the stronger their partners, the more impactful they are. @@ethandavis2373You could still argue that an indirect buff through a good Eviolite user is still “improving” the Pokémon, which is why I don’t think Dusknoir is that emblematic of this “theorem.”
It was a middle finger for those expecting a super mystical dragon. Do you like Dunsparce so much you want an evo? Here, have a thing that is even more Dunsparce than Dunsparce Love Dunsparce because of what it is, not because of what do you think it should be
@NoxObscura7wow, is almost as if not every pokemon is supposted to be competitively viable and their various stats distributions and lore are more important than the pebble infested, 30 turn minimun smogon meta😂 Plus, is very good on Playthroughts. If you struggled, you just are very bad at a kids game
I love Dusknoir as a Design, but 2 changes need to happen to make it better. 1- Looking at the design, it should regain Levitate as it's primary Ability. 2- Gain Moonlight as its Recovery move.
Also, it should gain Last Respects. I know it's banned in doubles, but in singles, Dusknoir, paired with a choice scarf, can at least become somewhat of an intimidating late-match sweeper.
Right now i am praying that either Legends ZA results in a Mega Dusknoir or Gen10 does some stat re-aligning and/or buffs like what happened with Gen7 to make base Dusknoir a bit better.
In Electivire's defence, I did find a nice niche for it when gen 4 was the most recent generation. I simply got Electivire with a physical build and Zapdos with a special build, making sure to give Electivire Earthquake and Zapdos Discharge. The Electivire and Zapdos combo served me pretty well back then when I was playing doubles. For some reason a lot of people just didn't expect Zapdos to use Discharge and give Electivire a speed boost while damaging both their Pokemon and then have Electivire use Earthquake. It allowed me to have a few 4v4 matches that lasted two turns.
Dunspace getting a dragon evolution is a clear case of people not knowing what a Tsuchinoko is. It's a joke of "danger beast" and it's pretty clear to see that Dunsparce was almost meant to be a troll of a Pokemon. Dundunsparce just continues that trend.
Adding to that, dunsparce is also a parody of those superpowerful post game items that you need to beat a secret boss in RPGs. Sure they are shiny, but ultimately useless when there is nothing to use them for, just bragging rights Same with Dunsparce, minus the superpowerful part. Funnily enough, Dudunspaece is also a self parody of how a lot of gen 1 and 2 pokemon just got bigger when they evolve, like Typlosion or Noctowl
That is the thing thought it kinda doesn’t add much from the myths but just doubles down on the base of dunsparce. I love it honestly cause I love dunsparce but to say you can’t make the pokemon based on a drunken snake not have an evolution based on other parts of its mythology feels like a misses potential. Dundunsparce just exists which is nice for a troll mon, I love it just for that, but again gamefreak wasn’t trying they just went “welp lets make the troll mon more trolly” and ignore other methods to do so that isn’t just “make danger noodle longer”. I do love that it is used in a restaurant makes me think of dundunsparce is drinking with its trainer
it being based on the Tsuchinoko is a really good reason as to why it SHOULD'VE gotten a cool dragon evolution, giving Dunsparce another segment on it's body is nowhere near as funny as having it evolve into a Terrifying Gigantic Wasp/Dragon Hybrid Serpent Creature with a 600 BST you can even keep the Dopey face stuck on the giant dragon body for added humour
I feel Strength Sap helped it way more, being able to recover while lowering the opponents attack does wonders for its longevity as well as improving its chances to set up that bulk up sweep in the first place.
@@marcelosandoval4206 You'd think the reaper Pokemon that puts souls into its body would be able to learn a life draining move like Strength Sap. Instead, the best Gamefreak can give it for recovery is... the unreliable Pain Split and just recently in SV: Leech Life, a bug move which is the most resisted type in the game so this really doesn't help Dusknoir recover reliably with its middling attack stat
Electivire main flaw really is that they made it slower without really making it bulkier, the thing has almost as much bulk as Electabuzz without its good speed. Electric has the advantage of only being weak to ground which is probably why most of them are frail, so if Vire had good HP and defenses it could likely crave niches as a bulky mixed attacker, especially if it got Bulk Up earlier.
Plus as cool as Motor Drive is an ability, it’s just too unreliable since it requires lots of prediction to switch it in on an Electric-type move to get the boost in speed. I had this idea that one way to buff Electivire is by giving it another ability (or changing its Hidden Ability). It’d be a brand new ability that would be the paralysis equivalent of Poison Touch, where any move it uses that makes physical contact has a chance of paralyzing the foe. That’d at least help mitigate Electivire’s poor speed by slowing down foes with paralysis.
@@Laserbeak316Yeah, motor drive is a part of the issue. Realistically you want an opponent with an electric Pokemon (Unless they are doing some weird stuff like Thinderbolt Gengar), you absolutely have to be out with something weak to electric and the opponent actually has to use the electric move. Plus it only works once, nobody will fall for it after the first time. It's a load of setup and risk for something that might or might not make a difference
@@bigmonke3348change the stats to lower physical attack and increase speed, add fur coat, hyper voice, nasty plot and uhh recover?? Maybe could help or rather suffice
Are you kidding?? Dudunsparce can finally do what Dunsparce has tried to do for twenty years but couldn't... And now Dunsparce can too because of Eviolite!
Porygon-Z had a step up from taking on as defensive Trick Room setter to Hyper(beam) offensive glass cannon and took this further with Terastalization, taking advantage of it’s Adaptability boosts and taking it even further, and even Kieran uses one and it’s among the bigger threats on his team
Agreed, let's not forget how good it has been in doubles lately. If a Pokémon succeeds in one format then it's a win for me. Look a Skarmory, awesome in singles, terrible in doubles.
I will never forgive Dusknoir being cursed with pressure instead of getting levitate. DUSKULL has levitate, but just because Dusclops grew legs it was swapped out for pressure of all things. It's just like Horsea losing swift swim for poison point when it evolves into Seadra. But that changes BACK TO SWIFT SWIM When it evolves into Kingdra, so why was Dusknoir screwed over? And ofc its hidden ability is frisk, just to add insult to injury with a second terrible ability.
@josephbulkin9222 it just doesn't make much of a difference It's not terrible, but there are a ton of abilities that are just way more valuable. Dusknoir in particular is very poorly suited to take advantage of pressure because it has bad survivability
I knew that Electivire was going to be on the list even before the video started since Electabuzz from Electivire didn’t really help it that much, and I fell it made it worse. I feel like some good changes that could be made to Electivire are what it gets in the Blaze Black 2/Volt White 2 Reduxes, where it is actually pretty good, these changes being: -Electric/Fighting -Access of a good fighting movepool such as Close Combat, Hammer Arm, which is get in the roms. -Gaining Volt Tackle, which it also gains in the rom. -Maybe 100 speed and 85 HP?
GF not giving Electivire Close Combat is an epic fail. It looks like a fighting type and could punch really fast. Supercell Slam should’ve been like an electric type High Jump Kick or a more accurate electric type Mega Kick. Having Iron Fist instead of Vital Spirit, access to Grass Knot + CC + Icicle Crash + Power Whip + Volt Tackle, improved stat spread(+20Sp.Atk,+10HP,+5Defense,+5Sp.Def) would also improve Electivire nicely.
@@davidhyatoola3127 And to add insult to injury Anything Electivire can do, Pawmot can do it better Electric/Fighting typing 105 Spe Iron Fist ability Only thing it has that Pawmot doesn’t is EQ and Trailblaze, and that’s it. @@FatalGecko58 Electivire should be getting Swords Dance. It's great it now has Bulk Up. But where is Swords Dance. For the longest time Electivire and Magmortor had no boosting moves to its name. Again at least it got Bulk Up and Knock Off along with Trailblaze and Supercell Slam, making it tolerable. But it's too late at this point, this Pokémon is primarily a low tier Pokémon and I have no choice but to accept that. Next time Close Combat, Swords Dance and maybe a new physical electric move or buff Wild Charge to 120 to warrant the recoil.
Wyrdeer being slower than Stantler is just funny because it was literally introduced to be a mount that could get you around faster... like, thanks for the ride, but could you send your son next time?
I love that you require owning Legends Arceus to evolve Pokémon like Stantler into Wyrdeer. Putting new evolutions behind whole game paywalls instead of adapting them into future games is such a great idea
@@Nisi1tbf, that's where they intend trading to come in since you CAN access those Pokemon, just not catch them yourself (it's really no different than version exclusives and needing previous games to bring in Pokemon you otherwise can't capture in the region you're playing 🤔)
The thing that really gets in my nerves is the rest of the Pokemon in Arceus have some way to get them in SV's DLC except for Wyrdeer Why can't we have nice things
Two major ones I feel you forgot about: Lickilicky: improves on Lickitung but not in any viable way. Too weak to be offensive, decently bulky but no recovery* and slow to boot. It just doesn't do anything... and its usage reflects that. Literally its only set for like the past 4 generations was Wish passing and yeah... it wasn't even particularly amazing at this either. You also have to consider that Wish was a Gen3 PCNY event move (like Wish Chansey) which meant that actually using it was mostly limited to simulator (because very few people actually have this Pokémon on cart) and wasn't even legal in any official metagame and will be summarily deleted in any future game as well. Bellossom: It genuinely doesn't do anything better than Vileplume. It trades SpA for Def which is insane because Vileplume is probably the most well known for being a good physical wall with its Effect Spore and Strength Sap making it one of the best repeated switch-ins to Fighting types that aren't Guts. Instead it loses its Poison typing which comes a gen too late to be a benefit and replaces it with... nothing? I guess? Basically making it a worse Tangela. It gets Quiver Dance in later generations but it's so slow it needs at least 2 to outspeed anything and even then isn't usually strong enough to OHKO stuff even at +2. It's also susceptible to all status (bye Toxic immunity!), all entry hazards and doesn't have any particularly hard hitting moves.
Iirc gen 4 Lickilicky has a somewhat notable niche in being the strongest Explosion in the game, that can hit some unique benchmarks. This isn't exactly GOOD, but it is a thing you can leverage. Then they nerfed explosion.
Easy fixes here: Dusknoir: bump HP up to 80 and give it Regenerator for a Hidden Ability on Gen 5 onward. Wyrdeer: Drop Speed more. It'd be pretty decent in Trick Room that way. Electivire: Why did they drop it's Speed? Leave it at 105, then actually buff the Elemental Punches to maybe 90-95 power. Basically make them physical counterparts to T-Bolt, Ice Beam and Flamethrower. Then it'd actually be pretty excellent. Farigiraf: I can't think of anything, honestly. My only idea would be copying Wyrdeer lol. Dudunsparce: Give it more Serene Grace moves, and maybe shift some SpAtk into bulk. Mr. Rime: I'm at another loss. The stats mixed with the typing don't really give it a great chance to even think of being that great to begin with.
What floors me about Dudunsparce is that this feels like a troll move. They knew people were asking for just some way to make this Pokemon worthwhile and reach its full potential for years, so they basically slapped together the most unimaginative design they could think of as a fancy way of saying "There, there's your evolution! Never ask us for this again!"
Seems to me that Game Freak has started actively giving the fanbase a middle finger any time they ask too obsessively for something. I wonder if they're going to make a Mega Flygon that's just normal Flygon but armless or something.
@@punkysnarks They did make Farfetch'd have a fighting type regional variant that evolves when Americans didn't get the joke of the original version, so they're not always trolling. See Farfetch'd is a duck carrying an onion. It's a reference to a Japanese idiom that loosely translates to something like "Sometimes hungry men are lucky and opportunity shows up like a fat duck carrying an onion." A lot of people had no idea why Farfetch'd was so weak and why it didn't use its leak as a weapon, because it's a Japanese joke about a person who's very easy to take advantage of... and the lore of Farfetch'd supports this as he's so rare because he's delicious and is literally carrying the best thing to cook him with. The Galarian Version is basically what American fans mistook Farfetch'd for, a tough guy using a leek as an actual weapon.
i like to think dudunsparce was game freak being tired of everybody asking for a dunsparce evolution and so they basically turned it into "okaaaay. you want it? here it coooomes!" honestly as a dunsparce fan, seeing everybody be mad at it is kinda funny to me. be careful what you wish for y'all
Honestly, I think Electivire should have been Electric/Fighting, and something other than Wild Charge should have been added as a decent physical Electric move.
But then it's too slow, and mixed attacking means your ability to max speed EVs is also compromised. And unlike Nidoking you don't have as many resistances to let you switch in.
@@teddyhaines661385 Spe didn’t stop Nidoking from bullying UU if not OU in gens 5, 6, 7, and even 8 EDIT: ok, didn’t read the second part, but 123 Atk in conjunction with Sheer Force must do something (Conk has Sheer Force but has no STAB for it and thus never uses it)
There are two kinds of opinions on Dudunsparce. A) People expected a huge transformation like Magikarp despite not knowing what Dunsparce even is, and B) People who love Dunsparce and recognize that Dudunsparce is more of a good thing. I hope a future gen gives him another "it just gets longer" evolution to further give the middle finger to the first crowd. Dunsparce is great, and Dudunsparce is also great. Simple as.
Dusknoir: How about 60HP, 115 Atk, and less speed for better trick roomin'. Those stats will let it use its existing tools a little more effectively, but lets give it more to work with. New Hidden ability basically ripped from Pokemon Conquest: Black Hole: When this Pokemon enters the battlefield, no Pokemon can leave the battlefield for 2 turns. Not through U-Turn, not from roaring out Dusknoir, not even ghost types can escape the pull. Let's push it further, hows about a new move (that doesn't have to be unique to Dusknoir) in Menacing Hand; BP 60, Physical: This move targets a random Pokemon not on the battlefield in the opponents team and forces them in, then deals damage to the new Pokemon. It will target a random Pokemon on the battlefield, ignoring protection, if there are no other valid targets (such as there being no other Pokemon or if the only viable targets are immune to ghost). -6 Priority. Wyrdeer: Idk, not sure of the direction to go here, why not try "special Intimidate" see where that gets it. Electivire: Physical electric stab not hittin' hard enough? Think they'll never make one that goes above 100? Then screw it, replace Vital Spirit with Electric Surge; keeps itself and its team awake, and makes its electric stab that much more powerful! Farigaraf: I'm fine with it being just good in VGC. If you're not, well... for competitive sake it doesn't need that base 90 ATK so drain that into its other stats, but, like, that's boring. Idk. Mr Rime: What if Ice actually gave defensive utility in resisting: Water, Flying, and Fairy? Is that enough to make sorta-bulky ice types usable?
Somewhat surprised you didn't include Mismagius/Misdrevous, given that Misdrevous is just better than Mismagius competitively, and it's somewhat poignant given how ridiculous Flutter Mane is in modern times. I still love how Mismagius looks, though.
They gotta do something for Electivire man, we really need Wild Charge to have a chance to paralyze and take away the recoil or take away the crash drawback from Supercell Slam
I think making wild charge just a physical flare blitz (120BP, 10% chance to burn or rather paralyze in this case) could help, idrk what else helps it, it has Knock off now but gets no real solid physical moves naturally
It's not just the evolutions. Game Freak has been making a LOT of Pokémon stupidly slow lately, and hit-and-missing on good stat spreads to make up for them.
Aaahh c'mon That was the whole joke of dundunsparce. It's supposed to be a lame evolution because it's an evolution of Dunsparce, a joke cryptid pokemon. So they gave the lamest evolution to the lamest pokemon. I wasn't even mad, that's genius XD

I don't *mind* that double battles are the official format, and I actually kind of love double battles - maybe even to the point of preferring them to single battles. But Gamefreak and The Pokemon Company do a *terrible* job of showcasing the 'official competitive format' in any main line Pokemon series, to the point where the 'official' format is almost only ever a primary focus in *spin off games* of all things. Colosseum and Gale of Darkness both featured double battles all throughout the series, as the *main form of battle* in the games, and yet the main series games leave it relegated to post game content like battle towers and story mode content where you find an NPC to pair up with. It just doesn't make sense for them to say that they mainly balance around doubles and then the release of the game is *nothing but single matches* - there is just a massive disconnect in communication there from the developers to the players.
@@kitsunekage12 I do agree with your statement but, I will just point a thing out Colosseum and Gale are the way they are cause it was the gimmick of gen 3. Dusclops being able to use Eviolite interested me at first, since it would give it pretty much the same level of bulk as Shuckle. But when I tried it, it ended up just being too passive, and the omnipresence of Knock Off made that Eviolite buff almost useless as well.
I would've even put Rhyperior in there, considering that Rhydon already had great stats on the physical side to begin with, not to mention Rhyperior only getting 50 more points in its base stat total. Not even the ability Solid Rock helps Rhyperior that much.

Dudunsparce is the biggest disappointment among all the new evolutions from all the Generations, from gen 2 to 9. And that's exactly why I love it. Dud is in the name!
Seeing Electivire mentioned has me feeling depressed for Jynx. Jynx was like a sister to Magmar and Electabuzz in Gen 1, and that was further developed when all 3 got baby forms in Gen 2. Yet, come Gen 4, Electabuzz and Magmar get neat new evolutions, while Jynx gets left in the dust. Justice for Jynx. Anyways, onto how I'd tinker with these Pokemon. Dusknoir - First and foremost, give it Levitate. Dusknoir comes full circle as a levitating phantom like Duskull, who had Levitate as its ability. It can keep Pressure as a secondary ability, since it never had one to begin with anyway. Next, I'd swap its HP and Special Attack stats, which would push Dusknoir up to Base 65 HP. Suddenly those Defenses start meaning something backed by an actual HP stat, and Dusknoir was never using Special sets when it has Poltergeist anyway. Finally, some extra moves would be nice. I'd go with Knock Off for the annoying utility purposes of it, and Body Press as a much desired Fighting-type move that would hit off of Dusknoir's huge Defense stat. A real recovery move like Strength Sap would be nice too, but that might make Dusknoir a bit ridiculous. It would love having the boosting version of Curse too, but sadly it's a Ghost-type, so all it gets is pain. Wyrdeer - I'm of the belief that the Physical Psychic-type is an underdeveloped archetype, so Wyrdeer being a mixed attacker who only ever ran crayon eating Stored Power sets disappoints me, especially since Farigiraf exists and does that trope much better. My idea would be a total stat overhaul, pulling 40 points out of Special Attack, and giving +10 to Attack, Defense, and Special Defense, as well as +20 in Speed. Next would be a buff to Wyrdeer's signature move, Psyshield Bash. I'd pull it up to 80 Base Power, and 100% Accuracy. If moves like Torch Song and Aqua Step can exist, then Wyrdeer can have its "click button to bulk up" move too. Speaking of bulking up, the idea of stacking Psyshield Bash Defense boosts sounds hilarious with Body Press, so I'd give Wyrdeer that too. And then maybe Horn Leech to top it off for flavor and a recovery move. Electivire - Physical Electric-types are sad, and that's because most of the best physical Electric moves have super limited distribution. I'd give most physical Electrics access to at least Zing Zap, maybe Volt Tackle (screw Pikachu for dropping VT for Electro Ball in the anime. It deserves to lose the exclusivity after that). I'd also make Wild Charge into a physical version of Thunderbolt, swap the recoil damage for a 10% Paralysis chance instead, since I'd just spread Volt Tackle's distribution anyway. As for Electivire specifically, I'd also give it Double Shock as a nuke move coming off of Electivire's new secondary ability, Iron Fist, which I'd also modify to give a 50% boost to punching moves like it's Tough Claws. Now those elemental punches are all 112.5 base power, and dealing a ton more damage, making that 123 Attack actually feel like it's 123 Attack. Farigiraf - I wanted to separate Wydeer from Farigiraf, so now that I listed my changes for Wyrdeer, I'd kinda have Farigiraf stay more or less the same. Maybe bump up its Defenses a bit, like +10 each or so, but that's about it, with one exception; give it Recycle. Cud Chew is such a funny ability that lets you use the same berry twice, so being able to get the Berry back with Recycle and get another double berry use would be pretty crazy. Boost with Agility, get low on HP to pop a Petaya Berry, Cud Chew another Petaya Berry, Recycle on something that can't KO low HP Farigiraf, get another double Petaya use, and just go to town with Stored Power. I hate Stored Power stuff, but Cud Chew Recycle Farigiraf just sounds so funny. Dudunsparce - I think it would be really funny if Dudunsparce had Simple. That thing would be pulling up with Gen 1 Amnesia on its Calm Mind boosts, and just click Boomburst for easy wins. Or it could go +2/+2/+2 with a single Coil, and get an instant Agility boost with a single Scale Shot. Simple fits Dudunsparce's vibe though. Mr. Rime - The defensive typing is horrendous, and that can't be helped. What can be helped is the awkward stat spread. I feel like Mr. Rime would be fine at Base 85 Speed, and maybe 85 Defense too if you pull 10 points out of the Attack. 80/85/100 is pretty solid bulk, especially on a mon with instant recovery in Slack Off. My big thing for it though would be to rework Screen Cleaner, so that it doesn't clean the screens from your side. I'd maybe go a step further and make it work like an automatic Rapid Spin or Defog upon switch in, get rid of hazards and terrain too. That buffed Screen Cleaner would take a Pokemon with a horrendous defensive typing and average stats to a staple on a lot of teams, especially considering it has an excellent utility movepool with Thunder Wave, Encore, Trick, Taunt, Slack Off, and even options like Block and Baton Pass if you wanna disregard Smogon rules.
Electivire can be a decent evolution if they just give him what a physical electric type wants Additional typing, good movepool, and mostly, a great physical STAB Move I always thinks that they should increase the base power of Volt Tackle to 140 giving that only the Pikachu line can get it, and create a new 120BP recoil move
It might not be good, but I was so happy when I saw that Dundunsparce was just Dunsparce+, with more segments, more wings, more stripes, more chin spikes and even more eyelids. Anything else wouldn't feel like a true dunsparce evolution. Easily one of my favorite gen 9 mons.
Video idea: best glow ups. We have videos for rises in the same generation but not for the next generation. Such as Ribombee rising all the way from PU to OU(for a long long time)
Poor Dusknoir 😔, had those 20 base points that were put in Speed went into HP instead, it might’ve had a chance. Speed wouldn’t be a big concern if it could rely on Shadow Sneak’s priority (mind Psychic Terrain).
Most evolutions have failed to help Pokemon because mechanical changes are the ones that actually buff them. Tangrowth, Politoed, Slowking, Kingdra, and Scizor all reached OU status in gens after the gens they debuted in. Some OU Pokemon like Weavile, Gliscor, and Togekiss had to wait for buffs or limitations to the Pokedex to become truly dominant. Even Magnezone is slightly outclassed by Magneton in DPP OU. Kingambit, Roserade, Blissey, Annihilape, and Archaludon are more exceptional than we might realize.
I thought magmortar would be on this list, but thank god it’s not. Magmortar is underrated and Electivire is overrated in my opinion. All thanks to Paul
Thats why i love eviolite dusclops. His defense is amazing already, give him attacking trait that takes away from special attack, and give him protien and hp up. He can learn power up punch, and leech life. Thats all you need, and now you have an unbreakable wall that can become a bulky physical sweeper
I object to Dudunsparce being the thumbnail. Not on the grounds of it being particularly powerful in its own right, but because it's a way better and funnier evolution than the generic serpentine dragon everyone thought it was going to become.
Funnily enough, is also a more creative evolution than the likes of Typhlosion, Magneton, Feraligatr and co. At least being it preevo but bigger is part of the joke😂
In the case of Dudunsparce, it is actually phenomenal in Generation 1! (I help manage a small format called Generation Jumble, created by GroundBack) Due to its access to Amnesia, Dudun is basically Snorlax without Self Destruct. This means its Physical set isn't as good, but its Special set is so damn powerful. Blizzard Thunderbolt Amnesia Rest/Body Slam It was very hard to stop, but not over bearing.
So what you are saying is, basically, that Dudunsparce is strong in the context of an obscure fan-made fantasy format. Uhm. Uh. Thanks for the trivia, appreciate it.
@@PokeMasrerJ you would be surprised, Generation 1 is so fundamentally different (we restrict their Movepools to basically just Gen1 moves), that a lot of new Pokémon can be actually really bad.
@@Raiserasir, a lot of the "official" formats are fan made fantasy formats Last I checked, there is no sleep clause nor baton pass ban in official console singles😂
And to add insult to injury Anything Electivire can do, Pawmot can do it better Electric/Fighting typing 105 Spe Iron Fist ability Only thing it has that Pawmot doesn’t is EQ and Trailblaze, and that’s it. And whiling Bulk Up and Knock Off are nice, it is also too little too later.
Giving a bad Pokémon an evolution is like giving a bad sports team a high draft pick. The additions need to be complementary of what the Pokémon needs instead of something that won’t actually be useful in the long run. Part of why Kingambit remains as strong as it is nowadays is in part because it was an evolution of a Pokémon that was already considered viable on its own.
Tbh I still dont get people whinning about Dudunsparse. Like, why did you you expected a generic dragon from a pokemon based on a yokai whose lore is being useless despites its rarity and a parody of post game dungeon rewards?? Hell, is even another parody of how a lot of gen 1 and 2 pokemon just got bigger when they evolved (say Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Muk, Electrode, etc) The pokemon fanbase can be dissapointing sometimes. First the white house thing now this
@@Connowot387in essense, the pokemon fandom made on official petition to the white house (as in, the presidential one) to ban Sword and Shield.....over a tree. Literally a tree and also the stupid "I cant abandon my pokemon in a new regiom box" dexit thing That alongside the harrasment and even a false r4pe accusation Masuda got (and allegetly, death threats as well) makes people not take the pokemon fandom too seriously (if the elitism the gen 4 fanboys didnt hurt enought)
Massive Dundunsparce fan here, I don’t think it’s design is as deep as some people seem to think, to me it’s like Masuda said “why mess with perfection?” And I love it for that
I don't know anything about pokémon and a white house thing, I just wish they did something funnier with Dudunsparce then one or two extra segments. To me it's like someone telling the same joke over again at all the parties they go to; the first time it's hilarious, the second time it's still funny, the third time you kinda chuckle but everytime after that the joke kinda wears out it's welcome.

Incineroar 🤝 Farigiraf
Terrible at Singles, great at Doubles.
Tbf being NU this gen is like being UU last gen so it’s not that awful

Dudunsparce let Dunsparce wreck Little Cup.
Exactly! Dunsparce got to use Eviolite and then it got banned for being too powerful!
It helped me out with a low tier beast in draft league too
Dunsparce is a beast in LC Ubers too

@@loudwhispre9406 I never said it'd be better than Slowking. I said it'd be able to function in a higher tier than PU

My defense for Electivire is that… it’s my favorite Pokemon
Dunspace getting a dragon evolution is a clear case of people not knowing what a Tsuchinoko is. It's a joke of "danger beast" and it's pretty clear to see that Dunsparce was almost meant to be a troll of a Pokemon. Dundunsparce just continues that trend.
Adding to that, dunsparce is also a parody of those superpowerful post game items that you need to beat a secret boss in RPGs. Sure they are shiny, but ultimately useless when there is nothing to use them for, just bragging rights
Same with Dunsparce, minus the superpowerful part.

I knew that Electivire was going to be on the list even before the video started since Electabuzz from Electivire didn’t really help it that much, and I fell it made it worse. I feel like some good changes that could be made to Electivire are what it gets in the Blaze Black 2/Volt White 2 Reduxes, where it is actually pretty good, these changes being:
-Electric/Fighting
-Access of a good fighting movepool such as Close Combat, Hammer Arm, which is get in the roms.
-Gaining Volt Tackle, which it also gains in the rom.
-Maybe 100 speed and 85 HP?
A lot of the issues with many Pokémon like it are the lack of a good physical/special stab. Give it physical thunderbolt

But it's too late at this point, this Pokémon is primarily a low tier Pokémon and I have no choice but to accept that. Dusknoir didn't help? It gave us one of the best Pokemon Mystery Dungeon characters ever.
Two major ones I feel you forgot about:
Lickilicky: improves on Lickitung but not in any viable way.
You forgot one
Cursola, so bad nobody used it over Eviolite G-Corsola
@@goGothitaLOL I'll be honest, I forgot it existed

Easy fixes here:
Dusknoir: bump HP up to 80 and give it Regenerator for a Hidden Ability on Gen 5 onward.
Farigiraf
Me: BULLSH-
Singles only
Me: okay yeah that’s fair
It's a reference to a Japanese idiom that loosely translates to something like "Sometimes hungry men are lucky and opportunity shows up like a fat duck carrying an onion."
A lot of people had no idea why Farfetch'd was so weak and why it didn't use its leak as a weapon, because it's a Japanese joke about a person who's very easy to take advantage of... and the lore of Farfetch'd supports this as he's so rare because he's delicious and is literally carrying the best thing to cook him with.
The Galarian Version is basically what American fans mistook Farfetch'd for, a tough guy using a leek as an actual weapon.

Honestly, I think Electivire should have been Electric/Fighting, and something other than Wild Charge should have been added as a decent physical Electric move.
Electivire should get Sheer Force.
With +30 power in most of its moves, it could be the potent mixed attacker it was always mean to be.
But then it's too slow, and mixed attacking means your ability to max speed EVs is also compromised. And unlike Nidoking you don't have as many resistances to let you switch in.
@@teddyhaines661385 Spe didn’t stop Nidoking from bullying UU if not OU in gens 5, 6, 7, and even 8

People need to take into account the competitive scene of singles is mostly a fans things and I doubt it goes into the minds of the designers as much.
It doesn't excuse their mistakes, but there's a clear vision at times.
@@reignis9937 Frankly, that's kind of the designers fault in the first place. How absurd is it that the 'official competitive scene' of Pokemon is double battles, when in game double battles are *at best* a novelty you do every so often when a character joins you in story content?
@@kitsunekage12 I do agree with your statement but, I will just point a thing out
Colosseum and Gale are the way they are cause it was the gimmick of gen 3.
They were trying to introduce a new mode and I still am not 💯 sure how it panned out but it's what the VGC format shaped to be after that.
We even had that double battle gym lol

Dusclops being able to use Eviolite interested me at first, since it would give it pretty much the same level of bulk as Shuckle. But when I tried it, it ended up just being too passive, and the omnipresence of Knock Off made that Eviolite buff almost useless as well.
I think I suffered a stroke listening to the Mr Rime segment, haha
I would've even put Rhyperior in there, considering that Rhydon already had great stats on the physical side to begin with, not to mention Rhyperior only getting 50 more points in its base stat total. Not even the ability Solid Rock helps Rhyperior that much.

Had me in the first half ngl, I love the silly fella too
you know, you are the most honest "dus+" fan in this comment section. While we disagree with our conclusions I do commend your honesty, well done
I feel like we are going to get a part 2 covering more evolutions.
like Cursola
Electivire can be a decent evolution if they just give him what a physical electric type wants
Additional typing, good movepool, and mostly, a great physical STAB Move
I always thinks that they should increase the base power of Volt Tackle to 140 giving that only the Pikachu line can get it, and create a new 120BP recoil move
Looking forward to the "Evolutions that helped these Pokemon"

It might not be good, but I was so happy when I saw that Dundunsparce was just Dunsparce+, with more segments, more wings, more stripes, more chin spikes and even more eyelids. Anything else wouldn't feel like a true dunsparce evolution. Easily one of my favorite gen 9 mons.

Poor Dusknoir 😔, had those 20 base points that were put in Speed went into HP instead, it might’ve had a chance. Speed wouldn’t be a big concern if it could rely on Shadow Sneak’s priority (mind Psychic Terrain).
Can you do Nerfs that didn't stop these Pokémon?

And to add insult to injury
Anything Electivire can do, Pawmot can do it better
Electric/Fighting typing
105 Spe
Iron Fist ability
Only thing it has that Pawmot doesn’t is EQ and Trailblaze, and that’s it.
I literally forgot about Dudunsparce until just now.
Tbh I still dont get people whinning about Dudunsparse. Like, why did you you expected a generic dragon from a pokemon based on a yokai whose lore is being useless despites its rarity and a parody of post game dungeon rewards?? Hell, is even another parody of how a lot of gen 1 and 2 pokemon just got bigger when they evolved (say Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Muk, Electrode, etc)
The pokemon fanbase can be dissapointing sometimes. First the white house thing now this
White house thing?
@@Connowot387in essense, the pokemon fandom made on official petition to the white house (as in, the presidential one) to ban Sword and Shield.....over a tree. Literally a tree and also the stupid "I cant abandon my pokemon in a new regiom box" dexit thing
That alongside the harrasment and even a false r4pe accusation Masuda got (and allegetly, death threats as well) makes people not take the pokemon fandom too seriously (if the elitism the gen 4 fanboys didnt hurt enought)
If they’re consistent, they’ll say that the Tsuchinoko is a lame myth anyways.
Everytime I see a Dudunsparce now I just go 'Yeah I get the joke' and don't feel much for it anymore.
Good on you for specifying in the timestamps that the Farigiraf section only applies to Singles Farigiraf, as Farigiraf sees great success in VGC.
Farigiraf is used quite a bit in VGC I think so it’s a bit unfair to not call it an improvement.
I think this list is mainly referring to singles.

@@marcelosandoval4206 I figured they were referring to singles. I guess Farigaraf is another Pokémon who is good in doubles but not so good in singles.
19:11 i did not expect to hear "metagame defining Klinklang" today
Never understood why people thought Dunsparce would become a Dragon.
If anything Fairy would've made more sense as a cryptid.
That Farigiraf section hurt. I keep one on my post-game team (RIP main story team), and I love him so much. I even bothered to switch his Tera type to Fairy.
Dusknoirs best niche was letting dusclops hold an eviolite
(much better name though)
If Dusclops and Dusknoir had the same base HP as their defense stats, then we’d be talking
Fans: "OMG Dunsparce is finally getting a evolution!"
Game Freak: "Best I can do is another 'Du'."
I have a silly idea, five Pokémon running explosion and set up moves and one kingambit.
