The thumbnail legendaries just suck in Singles, but they're very much threats in Doubles since Regigigas adores ability controlling partners(Doodle,Skill Swap,Neutralizing Gas,etc.) & Zamazenta is in 4th place as the main Restricted in Reg G Masters with all that spread moves, especially from Calyrex & Terapagos being dealt with by Wide Guard and it obtaining Body Press for real.
Almost any regigas legal format for the rest of time will have legal urshifu to keep it in the unviable pool. Not to mention the supremely powerful ghost horse that is immune to all its stab and fighting options or koraidon in restricted formats. Annihilape and iron hands also shut it down. Any Pokémon in Ubers does not suck it means they are banned from OU. If Zamazenta sucks for being an Uber than all the tower trio must suck for not even making it to Ubers
Pretty sure the fighting dog was even outclassed from his own stab attacks by the sword boy. The plus 1 and higher attack stat meant it’ll hit harder then zamezenta with any attack Stab or not
Lugia is so funny to me, the main reason it hasn't been demoted to OU is because everyone just thinks it would be a waste of time and that it wouldn't add anything to the tier, and this is as far back as Gen V
before my main comment here's a list of every non-legendary that's higher in the gen 8 ubers rankings than zamazenta lol: ferrothorn, weavile, darmanitan-galar, aerodactyl, toxapex, blissey, dracovish, magnezone, shuckle, slurpuff, clefable and cloyster something extremely annoying about slow start is that it also halves body press damage. the explanation is a little confusing but basically body press converts your defence into a virtual attack stat, which has a lot off odd quirks like how choice band works with body press or how in doubles you have to use chien-pao not wo-chien to buff the damage which makes zero sense. i found out that slow start also worked like this when i thought i could use regigigas in vgc as a super slow wide guard support with great burst damage, which would have been really cool since slow start basically makes it a base 48 speed mon which can underspeed a lot of trick room mons. regigigas isn't even better than slaking despite being a legendary, if i were gonna use one of them with neutralising gas in vgc i'd always choose slaking since it has higher hp to spam double edge more freely, and in singles slaking at least was viable in its debut gen and had pursuit
Badly timed video. Zamazenta is almost the legendary of choice in vgc which only allows one legendary per team. All it needed was body press and it got it
Other bad Legendaries that weren’t mentioned in this video: Articuno: Significantly nerfed in Gen 2, ruined by Stealth Rock, and can lose to Moltres (the Zapdos matchup is a bit more even) Regice: Ruined by Stealth Rock and can lose to both Regirock and Registeel Cresselia (in Singles): Incredibly passive and reliant on Lunar Dance strategies, and was also designed with a Dark-Type counterpart in mind (think of how Umbreon is almost always better than Espeon, but flip the types for a role reversal) Tornadus: Okay honestly it’s not that bad especially in Gen 5, but being paired with Thundurus specifically kind of screws this thing over in some formats Black Kyurem (pre-Gen 8): Ruined by Stealth Rock, walled by Steel-Types, and unlike its counterpart lacks Fusion Flare’s Steel-beating coverage as well as any viable physical Ice-Type moves (Freeze Shock doesn’t count unless used with a Z-Crystal) Wo-Chien: Probably the weakest of its quartet, losing to Chien-Pao and Chi-Yu, while having Cresselia’s passivity issues
Regigigas Weezing was most certainly not a gimmick back in gen 8 vgc, you'd basically get a third restricted for free and it performed really well in multiple tournaments. Sadly it appears to be a little bit outclassed by Slaking when that is available as well due to Slaking having priority and it being able to get one more move off outside of neutralizing gas while regigigas gets nerfed instantly. A fan-favourite legendary that actually really sucks in vgc is Mewtwo, for everything that it can do Calyrex-Shadow can do better.
Regigigas has one of the best designs of any legendary but man, slow start just sucks so much. At least he had his time in the spotlight in Gen 8 doubles.
Idk I kinda disagree on the last section. I think Zamazenta is not necessarily fine in OU. I dunno if I think it should be quickbanned that’s a bit too far, but at the least a suspect in my opinion. Great tusk does and gambit have it beat in usage but absolutely to not beat it matchup wise. I think it does have some merit for the tier in being a decent check to a lot and helps a lot vs Kingambit but I do still feel like it deserves to be looked at for a potential suspect atleast. I think it’s really volatile, and most of the things you can use to beat Zama can lose to its random coverage and Teras. Moltres loses to Stone edge wisp pult loses to Tera fire, your average Gholdengo dies in 2 crunches and roar Zama is particularly really annoying with hazard stack. Good video but I just wanted to express my opinion on Zama in current gen 9 ou. I don’t think it’s a “fine” pokemon I think it’s a very threatening mon that does offer good things to the tier which merit atleast a discussion imo
Here's the thing: Entei received buffs like a new physical Fire type move in Ho-Oh's signature move, Sacred Fire (a great move with a cracked 50% burn chance) In Gen 9, Entei's Hidden ability Inner Focus was buffed with the addition of preventing Flinching, now it ALSO prevents Intimidate (see Incineroar) Entei might be in RU in Singles, but in VCG it has the tools to be a successful mon. Oh and Zamazenta nowadays got Body Press and became one of the most popular restricted mons in VCG and has a place in OU (5th or 6th most used)
The gen 1 ones was meant to use fire as an extra to their Normal moves. Note that at the time Normal is the best type in the game and Flareon actually got value out of the set up(being a pretty beefy normal clicker)
Can they give Regigigas Clear Body already? A midget riding a horse can get Unnerve and Beast Boost in one ability and Regigigas can't even get an ability that all of its subordinate has. Zzz
Its actually realtively even for fire mons who have higher attack vs special attack, problem with fire mons gen 1-3 was only a single one had a base speed higher than 100, and only one has a base special attack higher than 110

something extremely annoying about slow start is that it also halves body press damage. the explanation is a little confusing but basically body press converts your defence into a virtual attack stat, which has a lot off odd quirks like how choice band works with body press or how in doubles you have to use chien-pao not wo-chien to buff the damage which makes zero sense. i found out that slow start also worked like this when i thought i could use regigigas in vgc as a super slow wide guard support with great burst damage, which would have been really cool since slow start basically makes it a base 48 speed mon which can underspeed a lot of trick room mons. regigigas isn't even better than slaking despite being a legendary, if i were gonna use one of them with neutralising gas in vgc i'd always choose slaking since it has higher hp to spam double edge more freely, and in singles slaking at least was viable in its debut gen and had pursuit
Badly timed video. Zamazenta is almost the legendary of choice in vgc which only allows one legendary per team.
All it needed was body press and it got it
gen 8 is almost 2 generations old and i still dont understand why on earth they gave a offensive type to the shield legendary and vice versa
I’ve always thought shaymin was interesting with skymin always being Ubers and base form falling all the way to zu
Other bad Legendaries that weren’t mentioned in this video:
Articuno: Significantly nerfed in Gen 2, ruined by Stealth Rock, and can lose to Moltres (the Zapdos matchup is a bit more even)
Regice: Ruined by Stealth Rock and can lose to both Regirock and Registeel
Cresselia (in Singles): Incredibly passive and reliant on Lunar Dance strategies, and was also designed with a Dark-Type counterpart in mind (think of how Umbreon is almost always better than Espeon, but flip the types for a role reversal)
Tornadus: Okay honestly it’s not that bad especially in Gen 5, but being paired with Thundurus specifically kind of screws this thing over in some formats
Black Kyurem (pre-Gen 8): Ruined by Stealth Rock, walled by Steel-Types, and unlike its counterpart lacks Fusion Flare’s Steel-beating coverage as well as any viable physical Ice-Type moves (Freeze Shock doesn’t count unless used with a Z-Crystal)
Wo-Chien: Probably the weakest of its quartet, losing to Chien-Pao and Chi-Yu, while having Cresselia’s passivity issues
An all new Reginald for players to take advantage of.
Regigigas is pretty cool, actually.
Regigigas has one of the best designs of any legendary but man, slow start just sucks so much. At least he had his time in the spotlight in Gen 8 doubles.
Imagine if there was a legendary Pokémon in generation 10 named Jimothy Cool. I bet it would be powerful.
Is Regigas outclassed as a defensive normal with knock off in gen 4 NU tho?
Nowadays, we have more broken Pokémon than Regigigas, so they need to add another ability to it. It won't be out of control.
What sucks is that iron mugulis is not on the list. Rip those who lost to his schemes .
"Legendary Disaster" can have two meanings
Grrr hop off Zamazenta….
mr cool, could you provide us with a video about non-legendary pokemon that got banned to ubers?
I'm gonna need somebody to win for me and ask for a video on the meta surrounding Gen 3 Pokemon Contests.
This Is legendary, folks.
Good video
I think if regigigas would get pressure as hidden ability it would still be reasonable in todays uber metagame
Days since Groodon: 2
I want to make a snarky comment about Mewtwo being a box legendary, but it might backfire if I just forgot a box art starring Mewtwo.
I will not tolerate any regigigas slander
Honestly it's kinda funny how all of the pokemon here are actually pretty good in VGC.
me when asian makes the tournament be at 3 am
No Groodon today :(
Do mythical Pokemon that suck
And then we have Virizion. Base 90 offenses with a terrible defensive typing.
I am shocked and appalled by this Entei slander.
Here's the thing:
Entei received buffs like a new physical Fire type move in Ho-Oh's signature move, Sacred Fire (a great move with a cracked 50% burn chance)
In Gen 9, Entei's Hidden ability Inner Focus was buffed with the addition of preventing Flinching, now it ALSO prevents Intimidate (see Incineroar)
Entei might be in RU in Singles, but in VCG it has the tools to be a successful mon.
Oh and Zamazenta nowadays got Body Press and became one of the most popular restricted mons in VCG and has a place in OU (5th or 6th most used)
Zamazenta is A Vgc titan this gen, and entei is the most used beast in VGC, weird isn't it?
Bad legendaries part 2 when?
why did all the early game fire types get massive attack stats? flareon, arcanine (still ok special) rapidash, entei...i dont get it.
The gen 1 ones was meant to use fire as an extra to their Normal moves. Note that at the time Normal is the best type in the game and Flareon actually got value out of the set up(being a pretty beefy normal clicker)
What sucks is, a lot of the bad ones are cool! Like regigigas, Entei, Sylvally, and Zamazenta! (tho zamy got better)
Can they give Regigigas Clear Body already? A midget riding a horse can get Unnerve and Beast Boost in one ability and Regigigas can't even get an ability that all of its subordinate has. Zzz
You know GameFreak is trolling when in Legends: Arceus, the game with no abilities, Regigigas was the exception
I don't know why so many fire mons have high attk stats in early gen 1 and 2 when they cant use it for stab... Flareon is the same thing as entei
Its actually realtively even for fire mons who have higher attack vs special attack, problem with fire mons gen 1-3 was only a single one had a base speed higher than 100, and only one has a base special attack higher than 110
The bad legendary pokemon after it clicks close combat four times on my ass, as well as crunch twice for good measure
