  • In this video we are taking a look at the brand new hydraulic 'Invicta' pedals by Asetek SimSports. As usual, this is NOT a review. I'm a sim racer, just like you so will be looking at things which are important to me. As it turns out, these tick every single box!

    Mac Evad, your "Not a review" was a good review of these new pedals. I'm a fairly new console racer with mid grade TM hardware, GT Omega ART cockpit and Project Cars 2, Forza 7, AC & ACC on Xbox. Will be upgrading to Fanatec DD ecosystem in the near future. I really like watching your races to help me gain knowledge and especially patience when racing in the SIM world. One thing you've taught me is that fast is not necessarily always fastest. Patience and smoothness will always get me around a track the quickest. Looking forward to more content!! Peace

    A very clear and simple video, thanks! I've placed a pre-orer recently, I hope they will still ship them in early March.
    I've looked at the Venym, but not too fan of the finish, ande the features are basics.
    I've pre-odered the Simtrecs that looks fantastic, and are very adjustable in every way, but you have 4 months waiting time and they cost 1,400 Euros.
    I thinks the Simtrecs looks right for their price but the Asetek Invicta seems to do the trick for me. I think the tuning simplicity and the novelty of the brake system make the pedals very attractive. Not to say they looks very good.
    I'm looking forward to test them!

    Gotta say a really good review Dave! You said some points other reviewers missed or did differently. Especially liked the way you setup your brake with these. Gotta say not in market for any pedals at the moment and when I will be I really want gas and brake to be separated for that free positioning. If this Asetek adds this possibility (even if it costs more that single plate one) I will definitely get these! Really liking the way they look and from what I can tell from videos, they will be fantastic to use! Of course only time will tell how the brake module will last and how you will bet replacement parts if it does fail. But I think the price is really fair for the product and build quality.

    There are 2 pins included that you can use to connect the clutch to the gas and brake together. Then the connector is really easy to connect at that point. It also makes it easier to connect both sets on your pedal tray. Boosted Media does show the pins on his review.

    I would buy hem, if the brake and gas pedals was separate, as I like those two pedals to be further apart. I usually don't use heal and toe teknik, and if I wanted too, then I could just move them closer, that's the only thing I don't like about the Invicta pedals.

    • @Hardcaslte
      @Hardcaslte 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Asetek has said in previous videos before reviews came out that they have something like 60mm of adjustment which is more than enough just by moving the pedal faces out or in.

    • @wild_lee_coyote
      @wild_lee_coyote 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are 3 screw settings on the faceplate and 3 finer threaded setting on the pedal arms. So each pedal has 9 different positions on top of the depth adjustment. So it should adjust to most people, unless you are using actual clown shoes.

  • @chrisYcsc
    @chrisYcsc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    13:35 is pretty much how i had my Logitech pedals setup back in the day (75% ish threshold when pedal hits its stopper / hardest point and you get an extra 25% at the end if you squeeze hard) .. obviously this will feel much more quality but not anything different to it in terms of how it works.. interesting tho been trying to mimic it on my newer pedals so will need to try Asetek pedals since i loved the way it worked on the logitechs

    • @wrxwrx
      @wrxwrx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Um, you can't do this one Logitechs... Logitech pedals are based 100% on travel and not pressure. Especially if that pressure isn't measured by hydraulics. There is no way any load cell can do this properly either. What this simultates, is when the brake discs are clamped onto the rotor, but yet you're using hydraulic pressure to increase bite they have on the rotor wihtout anymore travel. What this would feel like in theory (I'm looking to buy a set now after seeing a bunch of reviews) is what you would feel in your car at threshold braking. I've never had the ability to drive with ABS off because ultimately, your brake force is measured in pedeal travel. That's not how it works in a car. In real life, it's all about how much pressure is applied to your brakes, the pedal is just a piece of hardware to give you mechanical advantage over the brake pressure. The position is irrelevant to the brake pressure to the point of threshold braking.

    I'm confused about the 2 stage braking. Isn't the soft stage with pedal travel supposed to simulate the initial slack that sets the brake pads against the discs? If we're trying to simulate real life, wouldn't that stage have no or only a little braking force applied, not the approx 70% here? And you can simulate the exact same thing with the HE pedals with the initial spring uptake? HE pedals don't have a hard stop with hydraulics for the hard stage but uses an elastomer, but still the same principle?

    • @davecamm

      You can simulate the slack separately by winding out the elastomer a little

      Ehm, it is hydraulic... that's the point. Generally hydraulic systems tend to be more accurate, but also need more maintenance (hydraulic fluid exchange) - but with the Asetek system that disadvantage is not given as far as I understood.

    Dave, I don’t understand why these are any better/different to my TM TLcm (load cell) pedals? I was expecting the hydraulics to work in a different way but it seems that the majority of the initial press is absorbed by the rubber bung (springs on the TLcm’s) followed by a harder push onto the hydraulic sensor (Load cell).

    • @DJDiarrhea
      @DJDiarrhea 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems to me like the only difference is that changing the rubber out is easier on these. The hydraulics don't do much of anything, you're still pushing against a spring after all.

    I'm not a big fan of the brake and accelerator stuck together. Just doesn't seem to make much sense. For that much money, I want to set them the way I want them.

    Hi, i bought the Asetek Pedals because i wanted to Test the 2 Stage braking System. But for me Even the Softest Black elastomere is to hard. I Need ca. 44 Bars of pressure for activating the Hard Stage. This should be 70-80kg pedelforce. Way to high for me. In the Manual it says With Black elastomere you Need ca. 20 bar pressure to reach Hard Stage. This would be a Setup That i should like. Maybe something is wrong With my Paddels ?

    I think these are a bit of a marmite product, they wouldn't work for me but others will love them.
    Watched your video and then the one on asetek site explaining the 2 stage brake and I think your using it wrong.
    Asetek explain the first stage is to take up the slack in the pads before applying pressure to the disks and therefore before the car starts to slow, not to indicate optimum braking has been achieved.
    That being said, if you can gain an advantage by misusing them then good on you.

    • @davecamm
      @davecamm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that's correct. So I'm pressing it until it won't press anymore (pads on disc), then pressing further would create the required friction on the disc 👍

    • @jonasnorberg262
      @jonasnorberg262 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So this is confusing to me. Is that first stage meant to simulate the dead zone where there’s no brake force because the pads aren’t touching the discs? If yes aren’t the elastomers very hard?

    • @davecamm
      @davecamm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonasnorberg262 no, that's the initial compression stage against the pads. When it's rock hard the pads are squeezing the disc.
