  • Asetek have been a major player in the tech scene for almost 20 years, supplying many OEMs with their AIO cooling hardware. With a rich heritage in motorsports, they enter the sim racing scene with huge plans for a complete turn-key ecosystem, as well as a large-scale manufacturing capacity. Their first product? The Invicta Hydraulic Sim Racing Pedals.
These pedals are available for pre-order now, with expected availability in 2022. We've got our hands on a prototype that we understand provides a very close driving experience to the final production version (we'll explain the differences in the video), so let's take a detailed look and see if they are the right pedals for you!
We hope our first look at the Asetek SimSports Invicta Pedals has helped you decide if this is the right product for you. Great first impression. I know this is still prototype, but not being able to replace the elastomers without having to lift the base off the rig is a huge oversight. This allows you to make adjustments quickly and make comparisons right away.
Also, many users have rigs that are positioned into corners or near a wall where space/access is limited, so Asetek or any pedal manufacturer should keep in mind that adjustments should not be difficult to access or burdensome without having to roll the rig out.

      Hi Tim,
Thanks for the feedback. We will definitely note that for the future.
We anticipated most people who use these pedals, will be on aluminum frames, with the pedals "floating" and not on a flat surface. And as such we didn't see it as an issue.

Really like everything about these. I found I was able to nicely simulate the take-up of brake pads with my CSL Elite LC brake pedal by adding a very short spring, but it sounds like this does it even more accurately. Would really love if there was some way to adapt these to connect up to Fanatec wheelbases so they can be used on PS4/PS5 for GT Sport and GT7. I know it's unlikely since Asetek plans to release a full ecosystem of products, but would be really cool to see them work with Fanatec to try to have a little interchangeability between the two companies.

I'd love a combined H and sequential shifter to go up against the Fanatec 1.5. The SHH shifter is good for its price but still a bit toy-ish, and the VNM shifter in practice is only either a H or a sequential because who would bother going through the process to switch it? I'd pay more for something better than the Fanatec but everything above it is either dedicated H or sequential and not both, despite prices getting real crazy real quick.

If Asetek can get their production QC in order, these look like a very very competitive option for the Mid-High end tier of pedals. I love they are dying on the hill of this is how a race car is, deal with it. Love that attitude even if it's not for everyone. Looking good for a first entry to the market at that segment (unlike a certain company that is similar to Monza)
I just wish they came as 3 individual pedals as that allows us with rigs to optimise placement for ergonomics. I think that was a missed opportunity given the competition (HE Sprint/Ultimates, Meca Cup's etc)
Heusinkveld secretly sweating right now given the price I reckon. Asetek sound like they will have QC and customer service nailed as well. Hopefully we see a Sprint+ with the option for hydraulic dampeners.
Regardless, assuming the production model is as good or better, these should be an easy recommend for those chasing ultimate immersion.

Oh man I'm having second thoughts about my Simagic P2000 pedals after seeing this.. The reason being that these seem like a more well thought out/through design than the Simagic. There's many unoptimized stress points on them, there's also the fact that there is a lot of slop on the pedals and that unlike the Aseteks the P2000s aren't true hydraulics. (Edit: pre ordered these on the slim chance I don't like my Simagics when they arrive).

    • @XpVersusVista
      @XpVersusVista 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

you'll definitely like the simagics when they arrive, but you might like the Aseteks a fair bit more. I am in a similar boat, i wanted to order the BJ hydraulic pedals today for roughly the same price as the Aseteks, but now that i found them i think they're the better choice (unless Asetek doesn't sell from inside the EU, which would make them a few hundred € more expensive, at which point i will take the BJs).
The sim racing market is exploding right now, so anything you buy is going to be outvalued in the next 6-8 months. Reason being that originally sim racing was a small area, and thanks to that companies selling sim pedals had to sell them at a high price to be profitable. Now that many more people joined the "sport" it became more profitable, which means you can turn a profit with far better priced products. The era of heusinkveld is coming to an end. And it's their own fault. HE could reduce their 3pedal sprint and ultimate sets by 200/350€ and still make profit. But they don't, so others do it instead. VRS pedals, BJ pedals, now the Asetek pedals are all better purchases by far. This is what happens when interest in a type of product suddenly skyrockets. But do you really want to wait 6 months to get the best possible set of pedals when the market settles on a new "standard" price range for pedals? I'll probably order the BJ non-hydraulic ones and get the Asetek hydraulic ones when they're done.

Great first look Will and Tom! Nice to see the pedal set in closer details.
    Some questions/notes from the video:
    1) 16:45 will there be any plate below the pedals to close off the pedal set regarding wiring or will it remain open like here?
    2) 17:53 during use does the brake cylinder interfere by sticking out/down (if one have a cockpit with a pedal plate that extend beyond the pedal set) ? Or does it stay above the base of the pedal set? Especially when having a “larger” uptake/initial slop in the brake.
    3) 24:45 is the holes below the one with the bushing used for adjust ability also?
    4) 26:35 what are the measurements/spacing for the mounting points? Does it follow some of the other companies spacing or cockpit pedal trays? The mounding holes is placed directly below the throttle for a reason, I guess?
    5) 31:51 I hope they don’t forget adjust ability for the sock pedal plates.
    6) 32:45 loose/sloppy hydraulic brake cylinder mounting is this by design or due to being a partly disassembled prototype?
    7) 42:46 what are the peak forces for each of the polymers for the brake? i see them mention up to 100 bar and it being equal to 180 kg on their web page
About their plans for a whole ecosystem/turnkey solution are there any plans for device interconnecting like fanatic with the wheelbase acting as a hub for pedals, shifter and such or is it going to be individual USB connections for every device. If they are designing a whole ecosystem with pedals, wheelbase, shifter, displays, handbrake, and motion from the bottom then it seems like a good opportunity to simplify cable clutter/connections to/from the PC when it is the same Racehub software interface anyway. And does it even make sense to do?
    Thanks

      @dennishampe4465 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Alexander,
I'll see how much I can answer in adequate detail :)
      1) We are looking at closing the assembly as much as possible.
      2) It won't
      3) Not exactly sure what you mean
      4) We are going to release a pattern and drill template in the coming days. We will also be providing T-nuts that fit with our M6 bolts.
      5) We will look into that. It may be a separate set of sock pedals if you want the full adjustability of the non-sock pedals. Either way, there are still three sets of holes behind the plates, allowing for some adjustability.
      6) It is entirely by design. It has to do with the forces applied and ensuring the longevity of the cylinder.
      7) peak forces mentioned are using the hardest polymer. We'll happily share the curves on our website if people would like us to :)
Ad. Fanatec compatibility. We're always happy to discuss this as a possibility. However, Fanatec pretty much runs their own ecosystem, and so will we - so it's quite unlikely. Our approach to the ecosystem varies a great deal from what Fanatec does. We have a lot of thoughts on cable clutter - being used to design things that go inside a PC case ;) And I guarantee that we've put a great deal of thought into the interconnectivity of the ecosystem :)

    Hi Will.
It looks like you tested SRP on which you improved the run by 0.359 and your laps became more consistent against HE Ultimate.
You also recently tested the Asetek Invicta and also improved your PB of 2:16:645 with the HE Ultimate, in theory of course, as the lead you had built up was lost after ER, yet the final got closer to your time with the HE Ultimate. However, when I analyzed your run you should have improved your PB at SPA by a similar amount as with SRP.
And now the key question is which of these products is better, what are the differences between them, what is the plus and what is the minus?
SRP seems to be a more customizable solution. I would like to know your opinion.
From what you said about SRP I think Tom took it for further testing. So I would love to know his opinion on these two products.
He wants to choose one, but I can't decide.

I know it might be hard to answer but i'd like to know your subjective opinion.
I am currently using the Fanatec V3 pedal set with brake performance kit and I chose the softer option for that because otherwise it was just too stiff, i couldn't find a threshold it was either no braking input or too much brake input meaning i locked up everywhere.
I am looking to upgrade to a premium set (€600 - €1000). These pedals have a very stiff brake pedal as you've shown on the video which makes me concerned that if I upgrade to these, I'd struggle to learn to modulate my braking.
