This and the rest of the Rufusized album is absolutely stellar! They have a great catalog, my favorite being the final album, Stompin’ at the Savoy! But as for their studio albums, Rufusized is gold!
I am privileged to have this song by Brenda & Brian Russell. The track is on Brenda's Ultimate Collection from Universal Music Group. - Rufus & Chaka Khan did a marvelous job on this track. Chaka's unique voice is always taking us places 😀
One of my favorite Rufus and Chaka songs, and an all time great masterpiece of a performance on that song as Brenda elucidates here! Chaka, was crazy on that song, as so many/much of her Rufus material as Brenda notes. Yeah. She inspired a whole bunch of singers for a generation, and then some with her Rufus, then her solo material. Ridiculous! Thanks you for posting these tidbits, golden nuggets you do.
It's definitely not my Rufus & Chaka Khan favorite song but I know it was a staple for many fans back in the day. One of those fans was miss Natalie Cole that said on several interviews that the song was 1 of her favorites. Incredible how Brenda Russell's talent is around for so many decades now. She truly deserves her flowers too.
Still love you're version with Brian. That orchestra classical intro you have on yours is off to change.. The song Living With You' will always be one of my faves..❤️
@@rosshurdle1729 all the stories are coming out about how Andre was the behind the scenes driving force of Rufus.Bobby Watson said it and Andre himself said it
@@onlygafabotwhatigafbout8495 Really… Curtis Mayfield, Baby Huey, knew of Chaka’s talents way before Andre. Maybe I’m wrong but he’s the same one who beat her while she was pregnant. So when it comes to him, I take it with a grain of salt.
He definitely played a big part in the discovery of Chaka, but she would have made it out some other way no matter what. In hindsight starting out with Rufus actually wasn't the best move for her, as she wasn't really groomed to become as big of a solo talent as she should have been. She had the chops to be the next Aretha but lacked the mentorship and management she needed as such a young age.
CHAKA SAID RUFUS FORMER LEAD TOLD HER SHE WAS LEAVING THE GROUP AND SHE TOLD RUFUS ABOUT CHAKA HER NAME WAS PAULETTE McWilliams.....Hailing from Chicago, Paulette became the lead singer with Ask Rufus and was solely responsible for introducing the group to her dearest friend, Chaka Khan. Paulette and Chaka shared the lead in Ask Rufus for some time before Paulette left the band.

This song has always touched me to tears. Even watching this short conversation, its ( and Chaka's) power are not diminished. Thanks Brenda!

"Please pardon me," still a classic
One of my favorites songs by Rufus and Chaka.
This brings back great memories
This song is my favorite by Rufus! That's saying a lot because there are so many to choose from.
Glorious vocals!
Love Brenda Russell.
My favorite song by Rufus
Cool origin story! And to see Brenda Russell again. Two of my favorite singers and Band.
This is the song that told me to follow that voice because it was going to comfort me on my personal journey of life, because my insides began crying!
Wow, much love Ms. Russell.

Nice woman, nice comments and recollections.
Love the song and many others you have created.

Don't sleep...That's a Andre Fisher move. He's still a off da chain maestro. Without Andre we probably would have never known Chaka.
Really……..👀
Oh, we most definitely would have heard of KHAN of that there’s no doubt!

Mice can move mountains, if we just catch on.
