Anybody still listening during this pandemic September 2021? Yes, Chaka is a bad girl. I grew up listening to her with my older brothers in the 70s. We use to blow a few trees back in those days🤣🤣. I miss the 70s😪. Thanks for posting Sir. Great pictures!!
I'm a huge #ChakaKhan fan. That's my girl since the beginning with 🎸 Rufus , "Tell Me Something Good "(favorite) and love me some...🎶 He's on the way, he's going to Hollywood , he's stopping into Hollywood show me the way he's moving to Hollywood he's bustin into Hollywood. Chaka says sad and empty faces, sad and empty places. Everybody must believe in Hollywood whoa 🎶Hollywood I say hey, hey, hey!!! As a child I grew up singing her songs word for word. And hell nothings changed I still do today 💋 Lol A Singer's life...
EXACTLY! Uncle's in were in the military and High School were " THE KOOLEST" THEY EXPOSED ME TO ALL TYPES OF MUSIC , IF IT WAS GOOD ??? THEY HAD IT! Some folks posted it before, but it's worth repeating: THIS IS NOT A MOTOWN SONG, AND CHAKA DID NOT RECORD WITH MOTOWN! She did this song with Rufus in 1974-75, and was signed to ABC (I believe).
MY FIRST CELEBRITY KRUSH AT 6YRS OLD ,WHEN I FIRST SAW HER ON SOULLLL.. THOUGHT SHE LOOK ABOUT 14 OR 15 HER BEAUTIFUL SHORT SELF & THOSE BEAUTIFUL TIGHT EYES AND COULD SANGGGGG! ❤😂FOUND OUT SHE WAS 19 I BELIEVE. THAT STILL DIDNT STOP ME FROM " KRUSHING" IM 55 YEAR OLD RETIRED CORRECTIONAL OFFICER 31YRS OF SERVICE AND STILL" KRUSHING "I PRAY I LOOK LIKE A FRIEND OF HERS! SHE CAN STARE AT ME ALL SHE WANT❤😂
that was really great photo display. what an amazing life...HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAKA...... (i believe that was an alternate take of Please Pardon Me.--Maybe 8-Track version...) Of course I am toooo young to know what this! LOL
@ChakaFanTV NO NEED to put either 'Motown' or 'Oprah Winfrey' in the title...Chaka doesn't NEED that attention to bring in more views...that belittles her great gift...if someone clicks in because of Oprah or Motown, they're not a true fan...period respect...and happy holidays
The only thing this video clip needs - unless I missed it - is a photo with her and Brenda Russell who co-wrote this masterpiece. Nice video nonetheless.
I have always preferred this version over what ended up on the album. I believe this appeared on the Quad version of the Rufusized album though. Shame on Universal for never bothering to reissue an expanded CD with the alternate versions.
I believe, from what I've read that Rufus and Chaka Khan's masters were destroyed in that Universal lot fire in June of 2008 along with 100's of other artists. I reached out to Bobby Watson on his TH-cam channel who confirmed this also.
@@agwestbrook4112 Some of the masters destroyed. Not all of them. During pandemic. Questlove played unreleased vault material from the Ask Rufus sessions for us. Im sure there is plenty more where that came from. People are sitting on this stuff and not releasing the music for whatever reason. Universal has never bothered to domestically release a decent GH package on Rufus so clearly they are not considered a priority like some other artists who were once on their labels.
This is NOT a MOTOWN RECORD..... This was one of the takes Chaka Khan did while recording the Rufus album. This is the take they DID NOT use on the record. an they were signed to MCA Records
There was a QUADRAPHONIC version of the 'Rufusized" album that highlighted different instruments and CK's vocals and an alternative versions of the songs released for sale. Not sure how it was leaked but I have a copy of it. The QUAD version was not released for sale.
My Mother, Fay, Would Have Loved This Picture Of Oprah And Chaka. I Do Believe, That She Would Have Adopted Either One Of Them As A 4th Daughter, That's How Much She Loved Both Of Them. Back in The Day, Before Either One Of Them Became Famous, She Said, Look Out For These Two Beautiful Black Girl's, Because They Are Going To Be A Household Name, And She Was Right! Fay Loved Beautiful Up Beat Music, And Chaka's Voice Resonates With Me Today! Like Fay Told Me And My Sister's, You Can Be Whatever You Want To Be, Never Give Up Trying! BTS Is Forever And Ever....... 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
@MikeySaysJazz Well, some people think that every soul artist from the 70's was signed to Motown. A little bit of ignorance on their part, but don't kill them. Someone needs to tell them about ABC Records, PIR Records, Blue Note, A & M Records, Epic Records, Atlantic Records, Fantasy Records & Capitol Records so that they will stop saying Motown, Motown, Motown!
Lol! You people on here are so funny sometimes! This for the record is not a live version but the "quadrophonic" version and the final cut your civilian ears 1st heard was the final cut! Lol!
Natalie and Chaka performed this together at the beginning of Natalie’s career somewhere but no one can find the footage . Natalie idiolized Chaka and they were best friends. Love them both ❤
Since the silence in your question gives pause for generations to ponder what LEGENDS there were and now what we witness Long live Ella n Sarah n Aretha n Diana n Peggy, Barbra et al
Icons r rare these days & time because these where real singers bck then💗🙏youngsters dont hva clue about Iconic & legendary statuses!👀👀I rather listen to Chaka Khan-Rufus, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, temptations, spinners, Al Greene, etc. This is music bcause I can't get into all this violent rap music or their behaviors!😕
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! but I HATE THIS LIVE-VERSION!! Artists need to know that when we go to see them live we want to hear the song as it was recorded !! Not with all the ad-libs and ad-ons...Jeesh!
beloit22 Do you know how many takes that may go into the final recording of a song. And don't even think of the editing, mixing and mastering. Plus, this was recorded in the analog days on tape...that had to be spliced with cellophane tape.
This is NOT a MOTOWN RECORD..... This was one of the takes Chaka Khan did while recording the Rufus album. This is the take they DID NOT use on the record. an they were signed to MCA Records

@trho1 You summed up the essence and greatness of Chaka in a nutshell. Thanks for your very provocative comment!!!
The only thing this video clip needs - unless I missed it - is a photo with her and Brenda Russell who co-wrote this masterpiece. Nice video nonetheless.
hj1289 The unbelieveably gifted Singer-songwriter. Didn't know she cowrote this masterpiece. Thank you
Very Beautiful and helpful ❤

I know it sounds different I actually would prefer this version from the Final Cut
70s jam is beyond the best periods for music it was called soul music not R&B we have no soul music today
Much Gratitude

Since the silence in your question gives pause for generations to ponder what LEGENDS there were and now what we witness Long live Ella n Sarah n Aretha n Diana n Peggy, Barbra et al

Is this a remade version from the original?
Yes I believe it's a slightly altered version from the original
@MikeySaysJazz yes I know , Iam very well aware that RUfus and Chaka were never at motown. I only use Motown to get more views.
U didn't need to say Motown, because Rufus Chaka Chakan says it it all baby!👍
@gazzer97 Thanks again gazz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Correct, Mikey I don't know where that came from.
😎🌹🌹🌹
@foxymidnite 'thank you for your comment I really appreciate it
