One of my favorite things from the books that they left out is that at one point Fred & George Weasley enchanted snowballs to follow Qurirrel around and keep pelting him in the back of the head. So really, they were hitting Voldemort, the most feared and deadly wizard in history, in the FACE over and over with snowballs 😂😂😂
@MeeshDeeReacts just discovered your channel. Not sure what yall are into but if you like foreign dramas a few excellent choices are 1. German show called 'Dark' 2. Alice in borderland 3. Squid game
The first person ever to refer to the Goblins as "cute and small" 😂 looking forward to these reactions, always fun watching someone experience the magic for the first time!
_"He probably just has a crush on her."_ *Me, smirking into the camera like it's an episode of The Office, because she just called it... seven movies early.*
Each house has its own set of traits and values that define its members, such as bravery in Gryffindor, cunning in Slytherin, intellect in Ravenclaw, and loyalty in Hufflepuff. Ron is the 6th Weasley son to go to Hogwarts and all of his brothers were in Gryffindor. 2 have already graduated though and of course his sister is still too young to attend. 21:08 In the book the broom was in a box so they didn't know what it was for sure. They made it obvious in the movie but didn't change the dialogue. The inscription on the mirror read backwards says: I show not your face but your heart's desire. Erised is desire spelled backwards.
Thank you for all this insightful info! Good to know the differences of the Hogwarts houses. We want to take a sorting quiz ourselves sometime 😁🙌🏽 Thanks for watching with us!! 🤩
@@MeeshDeeReactsalso to answer your question about love being the reason Voldemort/Quirrell couldn't stand Harry's touch here's a quote from the book: “Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. He didn’t realize that love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves its own mark… to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever. It is in your very skin. Quirrell, full of hatred, greed, and ambition, sharing his soul with Voldemort, could not touch you for this reason. It was agony to touch a person marked by something so good.”
@@toodlescae why didn’t they just give this whole line to the first actor of Dumbledore in the finale part of the first movie? Would be nice to give that actor a full moment to shine since the actor died after the second movie.
Harry was expecting the broom in the book. McGonagall mentioned when he got on the team that they'd have to get him a decent broom, as the school brooms weren't good enough for competition. First years weren't supposed to have their own brooms, but she got Dumbledore to bend the rules in Harry's favor. There was also a note delivered to him at the same time telling him not to open it at the table, and also as you said the package was not so conspicuous.
Aw thank you Potterheads for being so amazing and supportive on our 1st movie reaction video 😁 we can’t wait to watch the rest of the series with y’all! ❤️🔥🥰
I’m glad to join you both on this amazing journey. I’m currently on the middle of watching three other reactors reacting to the HP movies. Since I can no longer re-read or re-watch the books/movies for the first time, I have to experience this again through you guys. Please watch the rest. You won’t be disappointed.
So glad u guys are watching! I know y’all are new to movie reactions, but especially for the Harry Potter movies - u REALLY need to listen to dialog. If you’re talking when the actors are, you’re gonna miss stuff. And nearly *everything* comes back around again in future movies. If u don’t listen…you’ll be lost. Just a little heads up😉
The difficulty with reacting to stuff is that you have absolutely NO idea when breaks in dialog are coming. If you stay quiet too much then you have no reaction and will have to leave out a lot of footage during editing to avoid copyright. The best thing to do is to have subtitles on, headphones, and honestly, just pausing / rewinding when necessary. Lots of reactors don't do the pause/rewind because of Patreon watch-alongs but it's way easier to follow along for them.
Interesting to note that in England the first book was called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was changed to the Sorcerer's Stone in the U.S. because it was felt that young American readers might be confused by the title. Meanwhile, it's refreshing to see someone remarking that Dumbledore reminds them of Gandalf rather than the other way around.
Oh my goodness, I have no words, I also only watched the first one, I haven’t gotten a chance to get back to it, but a now am going to watch it with you guys now. So Happy 😢
The reason for the name change is: They were afraid that American kids would see the word “Philosopher’s” and think the book to be boring/educational, so they changed it to “Sorcerer’s” to give it a more ✨ magical✨ title/vibe. (Fyi: American here who thinks the name change is dumb & unnecessary)
@hanI didn't read the book when it came out because I was like WTF is a sorcerer's stone. Thus, I never read the series. When the movie came out I almost didn't go and see it until someone where I work told me it was actually the Philosopher's Stone. I was like who was the moron that named it Sorcerer's Stone? I fumed as I would have read the book had they left the name alone. At least I saw all of the movies.
@@roguechevelle It's because a Philosopher in America is someone who studies Philosophy while a Sorcerer is a powerful Wizard. Sorcerer just made more sense to 11 year old Americans.
Actually, the love explanation is the real explanation as to why Voldemort couldn't kill Harry as a baby. When you're a magical person and you love someone enough that you're sacrificing yourself to protect them, then this creates a shield, I guess, that protects the other person from the evil that killed you, but intended to kill your loved one. Love is the oldest, purest form of magic in the Harry Potterverse, so this is absolutely strong enough to defeat someone like Voldemort. Kind of sappy, but also philosophical in my opinion😊 Dee, I'm totally with you! 😍 Hermione is my absolute favourite character, and in my opinion, she's not much of a goody-two-shoes. You've seen her break and bend many school rules and hex teachers and her friends, lie to teachers and tell her friends to enter forbidden places, so... Idk, I just see her as ruthless and scary😂😂 but at the same time she can be incredibly kind😊
The 'Sorcerer's' Stone is the movie and book title ONLY in the United States, because the book publisher and the film studio decided American kids would not know what the Philosopher's Stone is. They figured calling it the 'Sorcerer's' Stone would convey that magical context. JK Rowling wrote the Harry Potter saga with a great deal of research into historically documented magical theory and philosophy going back thousands of years. A lot of what will be presented to you in these stories have historical basis, including the Philosopher's Stone. The manufacture of the Philosopher's Stone was once the goal of alchemists. It was said to be red in color and both liquid and solid. It was so pure that it had properties that would cure any disease, extend life into immortality, and even turn base metals into pure gold. It was called the Philosopher's Stone because it was believed to be something an alchemist could produce if he (or she) studied 'Natural Philosophy' fully enough to learn all the secrets of existence. Natural Philosophy was what physics was called back in the Renaissance (15th to 18th century). It was the philosophy (philos = love, sophos = wisdom; love/affinity for wisdom/knowledge) of nature (the material/physical world). In the 15th century, physics/science was Natural Philosophy, alchemy was chemistry, astrology was astronomy, etc. All this learning came to light after the Dark Ages. The Catholic Church censored science, but the Moorish nations (Moors = Muslims/Arabs) kept learning alive while advancing knowledge. This is evident in nomenclature beginning with 'el-' or 'al-', such as elixir, alchemy, alkali, algebra, algorithm, alembic, and alcohol. This knowledge was returned to Europe by Knights returning from the Crusades in the Holy Lands. The Catholic Church controlled knowledge by reserving the teaching of reading to the priesthood. Priestess dispensed info by reading to the ignorant masses and interpreting the info per Church orthodoxy. But when knowledge returned from the Holy Lands, centers of learning (universities, divided into specialty colleges) were set up. The trappings of the priesthood were retained in these institutions, and are still a part of academia to this day. That's why Universities look like Gothic (15th century) churches, why graduates wear robes, why graduation is done with ceremony that resembles its religious roots. These accoutrements also appear in Hogwarts. Prior to the 15th century, Latin was adopted by the Catholic Church as the universal language of knowledge, due to Rome's monopoly on literacy and religion. When Natural Philosophy was returned to Europe and universities were founded, formal ('ceremonial') magic also began to be practiced by some, and spells were cast using Latin; this is also reflected in JK Rowling's saga; all the spoken spells use Latin. JK Rowling spent 17 years writing her series of books. She was no slouch in her research. ____________________________________ The Dursleys, especially Vernon, are typical middle-class Brits. They are happier with conformity and despise standing out or appearing 'weird'. You'll note they live in a suburban tract home that looks like every other home on their street, drive a car identical to their neighbor's, work a humble job the same hours as their neighbors. It's not Harry they specifically hate; it's the weirdness of his parents, the weirdness of their demise, the weirdness of their purported 'abilities', and being saddled with raising Petunia Dursley's sister's child Harry. Petunia was the elder sister, and 'magic' was not something the family was expecting. When Lily spontaneously developed magical abilities, a lot of positive fuss arose was shown Lily, which overshadowed Petunia. When Lily received her acceptance letter from Hogwarts, she actually wrote to the school begging to be admitted. Of course she was turned down (she had no magical ability, so no point to admit her), and she turned on her sister, calling her a freak. Having Harry in her home was a daily reminder of the embarrassment of being turned down by Hogwarts and overlooked by her parents.
Glad I found this channel! Love seeing people's reactions to Harry Potter for the first time and you two are awesome! Also a huge Avatar fan, so will be checking those out as well!
Slytherin often gets a bad rap for turning out so many dark wizards. This is often because villans often carry attributes that are not necessarily evil. Slytherin attributes and adjectives are: Ambitious, Cunning, Resourceful, Self preserving. Non Hogwarts Character: Loki, Elsa, Azula Hufflepuff Attributes: Loyal, Just, Hard-worker, Modest. Non-Hogwarts Hufflepuff Characters: Atticus Finch, Samwise Gamgee, Lucy Pevensie. Ravenclaw attributes: Intelligent, Wise, Creative, Open-minded, head-in-the-clouds. Non-Hogwarts Ravenclaw Characters: Tyrion Lannister, Gandalf the Gray, Phoebe Buffay. Gryfindor Attributes: Brave, Nerve, Chivalrous, Reckless. Non-Hogwarts Gryfindor Characters: Thor Odinson, Judge Dredd, Wonder Woman. House sorting simply puts students in a group of like attributed students. The feats, accomplishments and legacies that they achieve with those attributes are ultimately are what determine whether they're a good person or not.
I’m a big fan of ATLA and Harry Potter. I love your ATLA reaction videos bcuz I grew up on the show and Harry Potter is another one of my favorites! Can’t wait to continue the journey with you guys for ATLA and Harry Potter. Hope you all are doing well!
Yes, except the fact they made Ron stupid just to make Hermione look better at the end. He was supposed to be the street smart and her the academic one, they were both important. Here they just used Ron as the fun friend.
@@novastarburst3939 They certainly didn't do Ron any favors. In the scene with the devil's snare in the book, Hermione was the one panicking, not knowing what to do. Harry had to remind her that she was a witch, and could do magic.
@MeeshDeeReacts also in the Books Harry no longer has the closest under the stairs as his room because during the whole sending of the letters his uncle Vernon has hin moved into Dudley spare 2nd bedroom. The reason was they thought if they switched rooms than Hogwarts couldn't contact Harry in the Movie this isn't shown
@@marshallpeters7174 To be fair, that one I can forgive, as they had to give Hermione her moment in the movie, since they cut the potion riddle. But yeah, generally speaking, there is a lot of favouritism towards Hermione in the movies.
You two are in for an amazing journey! The love thing, it's a bit more complicated than that, but Dumbledore is telling the truth. Dumbledore's explanation sounds very wishy washy, but what he is really referring to is an ancient charm only possible through pure sacrificial love for someone. A willing sacrifice out of deep love (what Lily Potter did) can manifest an ancient long-lasting protective charm that even the most powerful curses can't break through, which is why Voldemort failed to kill him. This isn't a spoiler, it's just that the book fleshes this out quite a bit more than the movie.
Thank you for that insight and more context around that incredible spell! We’re so excited to go on this journey with you all 🤩🙏🏽 the Potterheads have been nothing amazing & supportive ❤️
I grew up reading and watching Harry Potter and I have so much love for this Universe and for the cast! Hope you girls like it! The 3rd one is my absolute FAV! Hugs from Brasil ❤
@@MeeshDeeReactsthe Cloak that makes you invisible that Harry gets was his dad's James before he died he gave the invisibility cloak to Dumbledore. Who gave it back to Harry. This is explained in the Book towards the end of the story. Dumbledore tells Harry that he gave him his dad's cloak back to him
To keep it simple and spoiler-free, when the Potters' home got broken into by Voldemort, Lily (Harry's mother) used an ancient magic known as *sacrificial protection* in order to save her baby. As the name suggests, Lily had to sacrifice herself so that Harry can live. Voldemort, unaware of Lily's sacrifice, tried to kill Harry but it backfired on him and split his soul from his body (which was destroyed). He was able to "possess" animals, mainly snakes, before he met a wandering professor Quirrell and persuaded him to attach himself to him. At the end scene, Harry was able to burn Quirrell (who was possessed with Voldemort) thanks to the protective magic that his mother gave him when she sacrificed herself. That'd be a lot to take in for an 11yo kid, so Dumbledore gave him the simplified version which is "it was thanks to your mother's love, Harry" which is all he needed to know for now.
@@MeeshDeeReacts You’re very welcome! Don’t hesitate to ask for further information that was left out from the movies and me and other Potterheads will happily answer them w/o giving away any spoilers of course. Enjoy the journey!

I got to do the music for this movie for my freshman year marching band show. It was so cool, I was so cool, and I loved every minute of it. It’s what made me completely immersed into this world, books and movies.
John Cleese the legend himself was the one who played the first ghost you seen, Sir Nicholas/Nearly Headless Nick.. this series of films had a huge portion of england's greatest acting talent from across the generations all in a single place... all becoming great friends. The small amount of new students arriving with Harry this year was due to the last wizarding war from about 11 years ago... normally it'd be a larger number with a larger and longer celebration...
It is true that Gryffindors, like any other house, can make mistakes & do messed up things. However, the same can be said for members of any other house. The important thing is how they learn from their mistakes & grow as people. Additionally, while Gryffindors may have a reputation for being cocky or overconfident, they also have a strong sense of loyalty and bravery that drives them to do great things. As for Hufflepuff, while its members are often seen as kind and hardworking, this doesn't mean that they are without flaws or negative aspects. Hufflepuffs can sometimes be too trusting or naive, and they may struggle with assertiveness or standing up for themselves. However, these weaknesses are balanced by their loyalty and dedication to their friends and family. Slytherin is often viewed as the "bad" house, but in reality, its members are just as capable of doing good as anyone else. Slytherins are often resourceful and ambitious, and they can be very dedicated to achieving their goals. However, this can sometimes lead them to make morally questionable decisions or pursue power at any cost. But as with any other house, there is a wide range of personalities and values within Slytherin, and it is unfair to generalize all Slytherins as being evil or bad. Ultimately, the Hogwarts houses are a way of exploring different personality types and values within the wizarding world. Each house has its own strengths and weaknesses, and when they work together, they can achieve great things. Hogwarts is divided into four houses: Each house has its own unique traits, values, & characteristics that define its members. Gryffindor is known for its bravery, courage, and daring. Its members are often seen as heroes, willing to stand up for what is right and fight for justice. Gryffindors are also known for their loyalty and camaraderie, and they value friendship and teamwork. Ravenclaw is known for its intelligence, wit, and love of learning. Its members are often seen as the brainiacs of Hogwarts, with a deep appreciation for knowledge and a thirst for intellectual challenges. Ravenclaws are also known for their creativity and originality, and they value individuality and free thinking. Hufflepuff is known for its kindness, loyalty, and hard work. Its members are often seen as the underdogs of Hogwarts, with a deep appreciation for fairness and equality. Hufflepuffs are also known for their empathy and compassion, and they value teamwork and collaboration. Slytherin is MORE known for fraternity in the sense of honouring one’s family/traditions and heritage ontop of being resourceful. Ambition&cunning come last. Its members are often seen as the villains of Hogwarts, with a reputation for being ruthless and power-hungry. However, this is a misconception, as Slytherins are also known for their loyalty and determination, and they value success and achievement. It's important to note that no house is inherently good or evil, and that each house has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. While some members of Slytherin may have pursued dark magic or sought power at any cost, this doesn't mean that all Slytherins are evil. In fact, many Slytherins have gone on to become important and respected members of the wizarding community, using their ambition and cunning to achieve great things. Ultimately, the Hogwarts houses are a reflection of the different personalities and values that make up the wizarding world. Each house has its own unique traits and characteristics, and together they form a rich and diverse community of witches and wizards.
Something to note. Children are sorted into the houses that most correspond to the values they aspire to have, not necessarily the ones already possessed. This is why you find Hermione and McGonagall in Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw. Or Neville in Gryffindor rather than Hufflepuff. Hermione: Books! And cleverness! There are more important things - friendship and bravery...
Yeah, like Peter Pettigrew was a Gryffindor and he was the biggest pos, and the most cowardly and disloyal, I'm not sure any house would take him how he turned out 🤣
"I would want to be a Slytherin" 9 mins prior *disgusted reaction* "Oh my god, I hate snakes so much!" lol I can't wait to watch you two go on this magical journey! The Potterverse is such an amazing world
Yep, though you'd have to be 15 goals behind just to tie. So in order to catch it and lose you'd need to be 16 behind; pretty significant. One aspect of Quidditch I like and find it cool conceptually, is that the game doesn't end until the snitch is finally caught, the longest being months with teams substituting players to deal with fatigue.
@@HazySkies It happened a couple times in the books, that the team that caught the Snitch lost the game. Wood explained it very well to Harry in the book, that the Snitch is worth 150 points, so the team that catches it "nearly always" wins.
you dont need to worry about how to pronounce sorcerer's as the right title is "harry potter and the philosopher's stone" anyway :) The philisopher's stone is a known magic item trought the centuries that can give you immortality and turn other metal in gold. so it also makes u rich beyond your dreams. its basicly the tale of alchemy as long as alchemy exists. the sorcerer's stone is a rebranding for the usa market because the marketing team thought americans are either to stupid to understand what a philisopher is, or would think its boring because america needs PEW PEW MAGIC PEW PEW xD
There were many schools like this especially in England. with a points system & everything. it encouraged and inspired teamwork and self reflection for anything you do may reflect badly on everyone else which inspires self reflection and awareness of others around you and how you impact the lives around you. ♥ Hogwarts is the oldest school that's in Ireland,/Scotland. doubled as a fortress long ago. Dating back to it’s founding around 990 A.D. by four of the greatest wizards and witches of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They each represented an aspect of personality that they wanted to bring out in new students. There are tons of awesome movies from the past generations that still outclass many from today! they cannot hold a candle up against such things like Harry Potter for example and it's Very British, American studios tried to make it in america but JK needed it to be brought to life in Britain etc.
Just to confirm Hogwarts is in Scotland, as opposed to Ireland - JK has confirmed in interviews its somewhere in the Scottish Highlands. Its also is elluded to a few times in the series - in movie 2 its mentioned they fly over Peebles on way to Hogwarts, a town in southern Scotland, and in movie 3 its noted Hogwarts is close to Dufftown, a real life Scottish town near Inverness. The Hogwarts Legacy video game also confirms this by mentioning they are on their way to Scotland while flying by coach from London to the school. But thanks for not saying its England :D - seen so many people mistakenly believe because the main 3 characters are English, Hogwarts must be - completely ignoring that they leave London in the morning and don't reach the castle until night. A train from London to northern Scotland is 11+ hours. If Hogwarts was in England, it must spend most of the jounrey going around in circles :D
Hi! The reason Harry has to stay with his aunt and uncle is because his aunt is his mother's sister. Blood relations has everything to do with it. Everything was in that letter Dumbledore left on the blanket baby Harry was wrapped in. He has to stay with them until he is seventeen years old, which means in the wizarding world he will be an adult.
Nah, they break it for the first time in the 3rd movie. Three of the movies are filmed two years apart. Radcliff, for example, was 21 to Harry's 17 by the end.
42:31 some of the Slytherin teachers mess with the points to help their house win. When Snape should’ve taken points from Malfoy he just reprimanded him but took points from Gryffindor.
Harry's paternal side of the family was very (but very) wealthy. It's crazy to think that Harry lived miserably with his uncle, aunt and cousin, when he had that much gold at his disposal. In fact, if Harry has that much gold is thanks to his grandfather, a great potioneer and businessman, who was able to quadruplicate his already large fortune and then get another small fortune after he retired.
Went straight from your Avatar reactions to this (and it did not disappoint!). I think their story lines are spiritual cousins. They focus so humanly on youth and allow them to really deal with hard things in a real way. Good stuff!
For a first movie react, it's a very good video. Your reactions and discussions were really interesting to watch. And you weren't exaggerating like some others do. And bonus (I'm not spoiling anything, judging by the video date, you've already seen the next movies) : some good guesses have been made here ^^

Welcome to the incrediblely wonderful rabbit hole of a ride called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Enjoy it well. 😊 This is the song that the Sorting Hat sings in the book version of Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone before he sorted the first year's students into their houses; "Oh you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. There's nothing hidden in your head The Sorting Hat can't see, So try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve, and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folks use any means To achieve their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And don't get in a flap! You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!" 🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄✨⚡🖤 BTW, I was sorted into Gryffindor and my brother was sorted into Slytherin in the Pottermore (now called Wizarding World) official website. The website was created by the Sony company and the author of the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling. I had to take a fun and special personality test to find out what house I am in. Go go Gryffindor! ❤💛❤🦁🏰🪄👍
It's better said in the book but where ever the cat goes filtch ( the janitor) will b there almost like magic the mirror is called the mirror of erised witch is desire backwards
I hate what they did to Ron's character in the movies. In the books he is the street smarts of the trio. He is the only one of the three who knows about the wizarding world and he is the one to fill the other two in about customs and stuff they would not know. Hermione was practically made flawless in the movies which makes her a far weaker character imo. She is book smart but she can be a bit snippy at times and sticks to the rules too much sometimes (I can relate) and she can also be really nervous in critical situations. In the scene with the devil's snare she knows that it hates heat and light and then says they need to light a fire but have no wood. Ron is the one saying: No wood? Are you a witch or not? He is the one who is calm under pressure (unless it involves spiders ;D). So yes, they did Ron dirty in the movies
I enjoyed your reactions. I watch many HP movie reactions and so far it's funny how you simplified with Harry. I watched a couple of men who said Harry was helped/saved by everyone. I'm thinking how you can say that when he is constantly being attacked. The books will fill in many of the blanks. My personal favorites are Jim Dales audio narrations.
A portion of the sorting hat's first song from book 1 explains the houses a little bit. "There's nothing hidden in your head The Sorting Hat can't see, So try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, If you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folk use any means To achieve their ends..."
Glad you enjoyed it! The protection of love thing is true. His mother's love is considered an extremely powerful protective spell in the story. That's the reason he survived as a baby. But i think its more than just "i love my baby therefore hes protected." I think she intentionally cast it like a spell and then died for him that made it so strong.
Thanks for all of your comments here! We always love seeing your thoughts on our reactions and on the show/movie 🥰 Ugh the mother’s love spell is so beautiful 🥹 definitely a tear-bender!
Hi, I just discovered you guys. It looks like this is the first movie you've reacted to. I can't wait to see the rest of your HP reactions and, hopefully, you'll branch out into other genres of movies too.
The use of different types of wood in wand-making is based on real-world Celtic/ Irish beliefs In their traditional knowledge & mythologies; different types of trees were associated with different months of the year, and it was believed that the properties of the tree could influence a person's personality and destiny. For example, those born in May were associated with the hawthorn tree, which was said to represent love and protection. Those born in November were associated with the rowan tree, which was said to have protective properties against evil spirits. This tradition of associating trees with different personality traits and characteristics is reflected in the Harry Potter series through the use of different types of wood in wand-making. Each type of wood has its own unique properties and characteristics that are said to influence the personality and abilities of the wizard who uses it. Wands in the wizarding world have their own unique properties and characteristics that are determined by the type of wood and core used to make them. For example, wands made from elder wood are said to have a powerful and protective magic, while wands made from willow wood are known for their adaptability and flexibility. The core of a wand is also an important factor in its properties. The most commonly used wand cores are phoenix feathers, dragon heartstrings, and unicorn hairs. Phoenix feather wands are said to be the rarest and most powerful, and they are known for their ability to perform magic that is particularly difficult or complex. Dragon heartstring wands are known for their power and flexibility, while unicorn hair wands are known for their loyalty and consistency. The properties and meanings of different woods and cores are deeply rooted in wizarding lore and tradition. By choosing the right combination of wood and core, a wizard can create a wand that is uniquely suited to their personality and magical abilities. This creates a deep connection between a wizard and their wand, as each wand has its own personality and characteristics that are intimately connected to its owner. It can often resist what you are trying to do if it doesn’t exactly agree with you or simply leads to spells going awry! Similar to Finnegan’s constantly exploding things can lead to dangerous and even deadly results if people continue to abuse magic without the respect it truly deserves. Overall, the use of different woods and cores in wand-making helps to create a rich and immersive magical world in the Harry Potter series. By exploring these connections, we can gain a greater appreciation for the depth and complexity of the wizarding world and the way in which J.K. Rowling weaves together the traditions related to actual magic as well as the vast mythological histories to create a truly unique & captivating story. wands have their own sentient interconnected culture, and they are intimately connected to their owners! Each wand has a unique personality and magical properties that are determined by the type of wood and core used to make it. For example, wands made from oak are known for their strength and stability, while wands made from willow are known for their flexibility and adaptability. In Celtic astrology, each month is associated with a different type of tree, and the properties of that tree are said to influence the personality traits of people born during that month. For example, those born in June are associated with the oak tree, which is said to represent strength, stability, and a deep connection to nature.
Gryffindor house is known for bravery, Ravenclaw house is known for being intelligence, Hufflepuff house is known for loyalty and finally Slytherin house is known for wanting power.
It was indeed partly filmed in London, the scene you asked about was filmed in "leadenhall Market" the Ministry Of Magic was "Old Scotland Yard", gringotts was "Australia House", and the studios they used for any not on location shooting was in London (Watford) However, the school courtyard and cloisters is Durham Cathedral, which is near where i live, and the flying class was at Alnwick Castle which is about 40 mins from Durham, there are other locations in Scotland and oxford too :) x

I really enjoyed your reaction. I`m so glad I found your channel :))) THANK YOU for this beautiful reaction.❤❤❤ I`m looking forward to joining you on the magical HP journey. They always say "Harry is the boy who lived." In fact, Harry is so much more than that. When Voldemort tried to kill Harry, his death spell rebounded and got right back at Voldemort. Because Harry was protected by his mother`s love spell, and because she sacrificed herself for Harry, Voldemort`s spell couldn`t touch baby Harry. This means that Harry indirectly "killed" Voldemort. By "stopping" Voldemort, Harry ended the brutal war between Good Wizards and Black Wizards. That`s the reason why Harry is loved by those who fought on Dumbledore`s side and hated by Voldemort`s (ex)-followers (Death Eaters). During the war, Voldemort put a spell on his name. Whenever someone mentioned his name, that someone could be tracked by his Death Eaters. That`s why, even after the war, especially the older Wizards are never using his name. Excuse my grammar mistakes :( English is my third language. I hope my comment makes any sense to you. Sending love and hugs your way❤🤗
Thank you so much for this sweet comment 🥰 we completely understand what you mean here and are thankful for the thoughtful insight! We’re so happy that you’re able to join us on this ride! We’re loving the Potterverse & its fan base so far 🤩❤️🔥
I don't know if either of you like to read but if you do I would suggest also reading the books because there are a lot of details and moments that they just completely left out and that's understandable cuz they can't put everything in the movies but there's a lot more to Harry Potter than what's in the movies
Hey great reaction sorry for the late message just discovered your avatar reactions a brand-new fan. I apologise I’m just a new fan but whoever said they’ve seen the first two movies they came out 20+ years ago so it’s pretty much like you’re watching them the first time anyway great reaction and I hope you enjoyed the rest of them.
In England they start secondary school at 11. Only first years use the boats to get to Hogwarts. Those 10 points Nevel got were the only points he earned all year. I think the books are even better than the movies. 7 books but 8 movies. They split the 7th book into 2 movies. Then there is a 20th-Anniversary Movies and the "Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them" movies. Anniversary
In book, it was Ron who reminds Hermione that she is a witch and use her wand to lit the light on Devil's Snare. Hermione was till then freaking out. 😂 She knew it was Devil's Snare but her mind doesn't work well in pressure in outside world of books. Ron is not cowardly nor stupid like the movie shows.
Hi ladies. Really want to watch your reactions to this series. Just one issue and not sure what you need to do to fix it. I have my volume way up and you are loud and clear, but I can barely hear the movie at all. Made it through the whole thing with you and your reaction to it was a great watch. Enjoy!!!
Hi there, Jeff! Thank you so much for watching along with us and so sorry about the film audio. We had an issue with a previous editor where they weren’t able to fix the audio for some reason. We are working on fixing this for future reactions 🙏🏽🙌🏽
Welcome to The Wizarding World rabbit hole that is Harry Potter. The best thing about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, to me is that the chambers following the third-floor corridor containing Fluffy each play to the strengths of Harry, Ron and Hermione. The Devil's Snare chamber caters to Hermione's knowledge of spells. The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch. And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess. Side notes: The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits: Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry. Hufflepuff-Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. Ravenclaw-Intelligence, knowledge, and wit. Slytherin-Ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. Erised (The Mirror of Erised) is the word desire spelled backward. Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have ruffled wing feathers to silence their flight so prey animals don't hear them coming. They also have natural camouflage due to their coloration, and they're the only birds who don't have bare feet due to their habitats, like the Arctic Tundra. At the time of the deaths of Lily and James Potter at the hands of Voldemort, Harry was only 15 months old.
😂😂😂 Voldemort getting hit in the face by endless snowballs is hilarious lmaoo

*Me, smirking into the camera like it's an episode of The Office, because she just called it... seven movies early.*
It's evident much earlier than that.
@@ronweber1402 You get a cookie.
I wish it was hermione with harry and not ron
We want to take a sorting quiz ourselves sometime 😁🙌🏽

@@MeeshDeeReactsalso to answer your question about love being the reason Voldemort/Quirrell couldn't stand Harry's touch here's a quote from the book:
“Your mother died to save you.
@@Makkaru112 agreed
Harry was expecting the broom in the book. McGonagall mentioned when he got on the team that they'd have to get him a decent broom, as the school brooms weren't good enough for competition. First years weren't supposed to have their own brooms, but she got Dumbledore to bend the rules in Harry's favor. There was also a note delivered to him at the same time telling him not to open it at the table, and also as you said the package was not so conspicuous.

Yay! Thanks for watching along with us and we can’t wait to watch the rest of the HP series with y’all 🤩❤️
So glad u guys are watching!
So Happy 😢
YAY i'm glad we can join together on this journey too! 🥹
The original name is Philosopher's Stone, but it can get confusing, the USA changed it to Sorcerer's.
I still don't get why they did that, I don't think it would have been confusing or changed much
The reason for the name change is: They were afraid that American kids would see the word “Philosopher’s” and think the book to be boring/educational, so they changed it to “Sorcerer’s” to give it a more ✨ magical✨ title/vibe.
In other words the American mind can’t comprehend the word “philosopher”
Actually, the love explanation is the real explanation as to why Voldemort couldn't kill Harry as a baby. When you're a magical person and you love someone enough that you're sacrificing yourself to protect them, then this creates a shield, I guess, that protects the other person from the evil that killed you, but intended to kill your loved one. Love is the oldest, purest form of magic in the Harry Potterverse, so this is absolutely strong enough to defeat someone like Voldemort. Kind of sappy, but also philosophical in my opinion😊
Dee, I'm totally with you!
Thanks for watching with us!! 🫶🏼🥰 right?! I’m loving Hermoine so much already! Can’t wait to see the cast grow up throughout this entire series 🤩

The Dursleys, especially Vernon, are typical middle-class Brits.

While they do, unfortunately, leave a lot of stuff from the books out, the movies are DEFINITELY enjoyable.
We’re definitely loving HP so far!! 🤩

This makes so much sense! Thanks for the insight here 🤩🙏🏽

Sadly, we have lost so many of these amazing actors in the years since this franchise was started. Watching these always breaks my heart a little. 😞

A quidditch game can still be lost even if you caught the snitch once.

The philisopher's stone is a known magic item trought the centuries that can give you immortality and turn other metal in gold. so it also makes u rich beyond your dreams.
its basicly the tale of alchemy as long as alchemy exists.
the sorcerer's stone is a rebranding for the usa market because the marketing team thought americans are either to stupid to understand what a philisopher is, or would think its boring because america needs PEW PEW MAGIC PEW PEW xD

Hogwarts is the oldest school that's in Ireland,/Scotland. doubled as a fortress long ago.
Just a heads up, this is technically not supposed to be known until the 5th book.
Just so you are aware, they filmed a new movie each year so the actors age at the same speed as the characters.
Love this fun fact!! 🥹

In fact, if Harry has that much gold is thanks to his grandfather, a great potioneer and businessman, who was able to quadruplicate his already large fortune and then get another small fortune after he retired.
time to bingewatch the whole reaction series of Harry Potter hehe
Went straight from your Avatar reactions to this (and it did not disappoint!). I think their story lines are spiritual cousins. They focus so humanly on youth and allow them to really deal with hard things in a real way. Good stuff!
Yay!! Let’s goo we love to hear this 🥹❤️ thank you for watching with us across shows! 🙏🏽
For a first movie react, it's a very good video.
Your reactions and discussions were really interesting to watch.
And you weren't exaggerating like some others do.
And bonus (I'm not spoiling anything, judging by the video date, you've already seen the next movies) : some good guesses have been made here ^^
💘💘💘
so pleased i've found your channel!! Fave series of mine and i love watching reax to it. Have a feeling i'm gonna love your videos on it! was dying at the zoom in on dee when quirrel took off his turban lol. (unrelated but you both have great speaking voices like you should do commercials)
We appreciate you watching along with us!! 😉❤️🙏🏼
Welcome to the incrediblely wonderful rabbit hole of a ride called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Enjoy it well. 😊
This is the song that the Sorting Hat sings in the book version of Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone before he sorted the first year's students into their houses;
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄✨⚡🖤
BTW, I was sorted into Gryffindor and my brother was sorted into Slytherin in the Pottermore (now called Wizarding World) official website.
24:45 does it say Flammel on the book? It could, Flemmel wrote the codex alchemica, most commonly known as Flammel's codex.
Flamel
Hi! Part of the fandom here! Please don’t be scared of us! We’re nice, I promise! Welcome to the HP universe! Please, enjoy your time here!
Hi there 🤩 thanks for joining us on this journey! The Potterheads have been SUPER sweet and kind 🥹🫶🏼 HP2 is dropping within the next week too!
Harry Potter, ATLA, LOK, and Marvel Studios are my favorites! How exciting!
🥰🥰🫡
If yall take the Pottermore Sorting Hat Quiz you can tell us what house or houses you two are in. I am RavenClaw.
I’m Gryffindor
Ravenclaw, baybee! We're just cool like that 🤷🏿♂️
And I wish I was friends with someone like Hermione in school...
Been watching your Avatar journey and am super excited to watch more stuff with you guys!
Aww yay! Let’s goo 🙌🏽 we appreciate you supporting our channel and watching all these cool shows & now movies together ❤️🔥😊
Definition of great content 😮💨
You tha man!! 🫶🏼🫡
27:26 you'll meet the Real golden snitch soon. Iykyk !
My favorite franchise forever! Watching the films is like coming home! I hope you love it like we do ❤
We are in LOVE with the HP-series so far 🥹❤️ can’t wait to react to the rest of the movies 🤩
"There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,

Or perhaps in Slytherin

Glad you enjoyed it! The protection of love thing is true. His mother's love is considered an extremely powerful protective spell in the story. That's the reason he survived as a baby. But i think its more than just "i love my baby therefore hes protected." I think she intentionally cast it like a spell and then died for him that made it so strong.
Thanks for all of your comments here! We always love seeing your thoughts on our reactions and on the show/movie 🥰
Ugh the mother’s love spell is so beautiful 🥹 definitely a tear-bender!
Great series. Love your reaction
Hi, I just discovered you guys. It looks like this is the first movie you've reacted to. I can't wait to see the rest of your HP reactions and, hopefully, you'll branch out into other genres of movies too.
Amazing! So happy you’re joining us for the ride 🫶🏼 we definitely plan to do other movie genres as well 😊❤️
" I hate snakes so much." Then you are going to have a lot of fun with Harry Potter 😹
Yay! This will be fun! I subbed ❤
Thanks for your support 🥹❤️🔥
@@MeeshDeeReactsalso in the Harry Potter universe you become an adult at age 17 not 18 years
Guys, I loved your analysis and reactions 👏👍
35:28 Ron had assumed he was linked to the knight piece by magic. Thats why he didn't get off. Once he made his move, he had to stay on
That makes sense! 🙌🏽
Not for wanting power, for being cunning
It was indeed partly filmed in London, the scene you asked about was filmed in "leadenhall Market" the Ministry Of Magic was "Old Scotland Yard", gringotts was "Australia House", and the studios they used for any not on location shooting was in London (Watford)
However, the school courtyard and cloisters is Durham Cathedral, which is near where i live, and the flying class was at Alnwick Castle which is about 40 mins from Durham, there are other locations in Scotland and oxford too :) x
This is so awesome! Thanks for the info here. We love visiting London and Scotland 🤩✨
You guys are in for a great ride.
Subscribed but waiting for you to post them all so I can binge lol
lol! Thanks for your support on our channel 🥹🙏🏽 we appreciate you watching with us and joining us on this HP adventure⚡️
@@MeeshDeeReactsI've been a huge Harry potter fan since the 1st movie came out I didn't know the books were released before the movie. The books were released in June of 1997. The 1st movie was released in 2001
Great reaction... Subscribed👍😊
Thanks for your support!! 🥰❤️🔥
I really enjoyed your reaction. I`m so glad I found your channel :)))
THANK YOU for this beautiful reaction.❤❤❤
I`m looking forward to joining you on the magical HP journey.
They always say "Harry is the boy who lived."
In fact, Harry is so much more than that.
Just one quick thing most everyone overlooks, including myself, the Mirror of Erised is Desire spelled backwards.
You didnot just call Hagrid the ultimate golden snitch😂😂
I don't know if either of you like to read but if you do I would suggest also reading the books because there are a lot of details and moments that they just completely left out and that's understandable cuz they can't put everything in the movies but there's a lot more to Harry Potter than what's in the movies
I love Harry Potter, I’ll be here with you girls ❤
Thanks for your constant support! You’re a real one ❤️🔥🥰
14.`12.."Madame Hawk"...the color of her eyes indicates Hawk like vision and matching reflexes...excellent for a Quidditch referee.
her name is madam hooch tho
You are right Quirrel got disingrated just because Voldemort's corruption was within Quirrel's body @Meesh & Dee
Anniversary
there's only 6 years of High School in the UK . people leave school at 16 over here . college / work starts at 16 17 . harry's last book he is 17
In book, it was Ron who reminds Hermione that she is a witch and use her wand to lit the light on Devil's Snare. Hermione was till then freaking out. 😂 She knew it was Devil's Snare but her mind doesn't work well in pressure in outside world of books.
Ron is not cowardly nor stupid like the movie shows.
We see Ron play wizards chess but outside of that we don't see Ron being to smart in the movies.
Yes, Harry Potter, the youngest Seeker in a centuary... didn't catch a single letter...
Great React! Welcome aboard......I hope U'll enjoy whole franchise.....
I grew up with this movies. I grew up with the characters. I was the same age as them.
i watch harry potter fr like 100times,so im gonna watch u guys till the end of the movie❤
Aww thank you!! We’ll be watching it all the way through the end 🥰🙌🏽
No problem ladies. I really enjoy your reactions and commentary. I'll be back. Good luck with the channel.@@MeeshDeeReacts
You’re the man! We appreciate all of that support 😁🙏🏽 we’ll be dropping our reaction to HP2 soon 👀
A pantry is a place you put food. It would be attached to the kitchen. The cupboard under the stairs is just the cupboard under the stairs.
Side notes:
The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits:
Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry.
I love movie that's my favorite Harry Potter this very good so excited watch someone Love 💗🥺
