- Amidst the curious glances and raised eyebrows, the most frequent question I get as a solo female living in a truck camper is, 'Am I Afraid?' In this video, not only do I address this question head-on, but I also give you my most chilling stories from my three years living nomadically. I also share my tips to stay safe.

I worked construction many years and being from a smaller town it meant I traveled a lot for work. It didn't take long to really that hotels and motels were just way to expensive so I ended up buying a used 24' 5th wheel and my 98 F150 pulled it very well.
2 trucks, 2 campers and 14 years later I can certainly relate to being in awkward unsettling situations.
Be safe out there.
Oh yeah! You know what I am talking about all too well. Thank you for watching!
What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Thanks for sharing!
That is very true!!
This is so good Kim. Enjoying your channel. I know that sharing your experiences, mistakes & joy really empowers other people who want to set out on their own adventures. Also, your videos are really improving… your style is showing!
Thank you, Jeri! That means so much to me!
You should look up Tracey from Ad-vantures Over 50. She is in Florida right now too and I think you gals would find you have a lot in common as solo female travelers.
Absolutely they would hit it off
Tracey seems like a fascinating woman! She would be a lot of fun to hang out with.
Those were scary stories but you learned from each situation and hopefully nothing will ever make you so afraid that you quit your dream. Keep on truckin'!
Glad you were safely able to deal with all those situations. Take care.
Thank you!
Great info. Make sure to get an air horn, bear spray and some road and air flares for sticky situations.
Good tip! Thank you!
Bear spray is for bears. It's only 1/10 the strength of spray cops carry.
The reason is,it sprays in a huge fan mist, out to 30+ feet.
The bears can smell a salmon a mile away, the tremendous sensitivity hopefully makes them run.
Get Sabre Gel pepper spray, always carry on belt. Flip top safety.
If a 250 pound cop carries it,why shouldn't you,you have the absolute right to defend yourself.
interesting-wow/your smart/a great story for sure/thanks much
Thank you for watching it!
Great suggestions for safety!
Thanks Kar! I appreciate you watching my videos! Love you!
Good safety tips. Thanks
Thanks. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Even though you have 2wd you could still get a wench . They make them now that connect in a receiver just like a trailer hitch, so you can move them from front to back. Now, that being said, don't go mud riding, but it will get you out of lighter stuff.
Love your videos. I'm a nurse too, 27 years icu mostly, did OR for two years, been traveling 10 years, so I feel your pain.
Thanks for the tip! I have to look into that. I am gun-shy now about rough roads. I learned to take fewer chances. It could end badly. You have been traveling for ten years! Wow! Yup! You do feel my pain and yours! The money is good, though, and you don't get involved in the gossip or politics of the hospital. There are positives.
@KimannChessa roads, especially dirt roads are kinda a crap shoot. Out west, sand can be your worst enemy, but the loose gravel can be like driving on bbs . I pull a 28 ft trailer with a 2wd truck, so I don't go far off road, but I go off road obviously. If I have a question about the road I'll walk it. I'm a big dude, so if my feet sink in the sand, that's a no go. Usually if it's solid though, it's usually ok. Also, using 2nd gear helps.
If I could take you out and show you I would, but, you don't know me, and that wouldn't be proper.
Hope your family is ok.
Also, if you ever get a chance to go to grand target in idaho/Wyoming, or ft Bragg California, go.
Safe travels be safe love you ❤
I never thought of a gun being me but I appreciate the advice. Thank you for loving the channel. It is so nice to hear.
I really think your best deterrent is Lelo & Ron. Rat terriers are very territorial.😉
You are right! Lilo attacks when she thinks we are under threat. It annoys me when she has misread the situation but that's her doggie instincts. It makes her a great security dog!
Hey KimAnn That is some messed up scary stories save those for Camp stories where you are at a camp fire
Thanks! I survived all! I appreciate you watching it!
Wow definitely some scary and interesting occurrences
Nothing too terrible though.
Which is a good thing lol. That bear one was scary enough for me lol.
Stay safe
Thank you! The bear was very scary!
Glad you're safe, look forward to future videos
Scary story
Be careful
Thank you. I try.
O my goodness you have had a few scary situations haven't you well thank goodness you ended up ok with the bear situation I would have died girl but thanks for posting a video I was having a bad day I won't lie and then I got an alert you posted content so it got my mind distracted for awhile thanks for posting content of your trip that was so cool your friend is so funny and Lord your son he's funny to he said I - dont- want- to - be - in - your- video😂🤭
You helped me, too, because I was feeling low today, and your comment made me feel better! Thank you! Life is always full of ups and downs. I hope your day ended on a good note. You survived it! Yay! You are a stronger person because of it!
Self Protection/Defense is vital.
Thank you. I agree.
@@KimannChessa When I start doing this in 2024 that is top of my list to have in the Van Camper.
Exciting! I think it is the best way to travel, live and explore!
Where have you been?😅❤🌹 I love that Video ❤
I have traveled to most of the US. I have four states in the lower 48 that I still have to get to - Maine, The Dakotas, and Montana. I have also visited Canada and Mexico, but much remains to explore! I am currently spending much time in Florida because my mother is sick.
@@KimannChessa ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
12:00 is that dishonored soundtrack? LOL :D
It's Doctor Mortem, Christoffer Moe Ditlevsen from Epidemic Sound.
❤❤
Yeah thanks for the story was a good one
Thank you, Alvin!
You should definitely get bear spray!
You are so right! I plan on hitting the Florida trail again and this time bear spray is coming with me.
We all need to know the difference between Enjoying things and trying to prove to ourselves or others that we can do something..I don't feel a need to push myself to prove anything to myself or anyone 😢
That's an excellent place to be. I push my comfort zone not to prove something but to open myself up to new experiences.
you remind me of Margaret Houlihan from M.A.S.H. ☺️
I'll take that as a compliment! I always thought she was pretty with a funny personality. "Hot Lips" LOL!
@@KimannChessa ,
it was definitely meant as a compliment!
Ahh. Thank you!
Another great video. I hope you carry a gun beautiful lady like you I ain’t worried about the Bears. I think you can handle the Bears but these wackos out there need to have yourself a gun and know how to use it there’s a lot of programs you can go to to learn how to shoot a gun, again thanks for sharing. Another great video I’ll be watching for MORE. Take care and safe travels.
Thanks for your advice. Most people that I meet are very friendly and helpful but it's good to be prepared if something goes down. Not everyone has good intentions. I appreciate you supporting my channel!
I wouldn't feel safe letting social media know I'm Solo but i guess they'll figure it out eventually 😮
Some women travel with a pair of men's shoes, so it looks like they are not alone. That's a good idea.
The woods might be less risky than city but if something happened in or near city you would have help quickly rather than something happening in woods or desert
That is very true and a risk! I take that risk because I love being in the woods so much!
I hope you have a pee pad for doggies at night so you don't have to get out late 😮
I do! They rarely use it but it gives me peace of mind.
Hi Kimann, looking good!, love the channel!, get a 'Dirty Harry' gun, it's so 'You'! Lol!.
I never thought of a gun as "me," but thank you for the advice. I appreciate that you love my channel! That makes me feel good!
You need 4wd and tire mats to get unstuck . Too much chance getting stuck in mud and sand in the desert .
You are so right! That's my next truck!
