    It’s not a steering damper problem. Add some preload to the rear shock. Transfer some weight to the front.

      Holy crap is that what fixes this or at least lessens it?!?! Man I gotta try this on my bike next weekend. Fortunately it makes everything easy for me and don’t have to manually adjust it like I did on my MT-09. Wow man thank you for the suggestion.

      You should be able to almost eliminate all unwanted behaviour by adjusting the suspension.
      Start really soft and stiffen just enough.
      Too soft is better than too hard.

    Any comments on the front suspension? The internals had to be replaced on mine due to some manufacturing intolerances. I noticed it on the ride home on the day I picked it up. That has been fixed but I don't feel the front end suspension is that great on this bike. I'm not impressed that you have compression and rebound adjustment available for the shock, but not the front end. I wish I'd looked closer about this before I bought mine.

    If a bike has a tune does it effect your warranty as it’s a brand new bike ? Can the BMW dealer tell it’s been tuned and when serviced does that end up with the tune been reset back to standard ? I thought that the steering damper was supposed to prevent the steering flapping about all over the place at speed. To deliver a high performance bike to a customer (not a pro rider )that wobbles at speed seems a little irresponsible as an average rider isn’t going to be comfortable with that.

    • @dingleberry6486
      @dingleberry6486 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes - it will affect your warranty if say, you submitted your bike for a runnability or cooling issue, and bike has been flashed - ANY manufacturer can (and has every right to) call you out on that if they elect to do so (ultimately denying a warranty claim). And yes - we at a BMW dealership can EASILY and QUICKLY detect an aftermarket/alternate map, which is the very first thing we check upon a runnability evaluation. And to you younger riders out there - although reckless lane splitting “at speed” may be legal in some states - please don’t ride like this jackass in the video.

    • @tracer1127
      @tracer1127 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dingleberry6486 It’s an expensive gamble then as to maintain the warranty I’m presuming you need the main dealer service ? I’m not surprised that some of these bikes are made to look like they handle so badly when the riders are so rough with them. I think a lot of the test pilots would benefit from some extra training to make them smoother and safer rather than blowing a load of money trying to make a 200bhp bike even faster than they can handle.

    11:30 RE; Steering dampener : Where did you have it set at ? Mine was so stiff when I got the bike, I thought I had a flat tire in that it steered heavy. I undid the knob all the way loose and it was better.

    I can't watch your videos due to the excessive gesticulating, it's much better when you keep both hands on the bars.

    Hmm...if the new S1000RR has the "old" M1000RR engine and the new M1000R has the new S1000RR engine...than the M1000R has the "old" M1000RR engine?
